Name: Miryam Mbassi
PC Account Name: Marietta Griffis
School: Uagadou
Year: Fourth
Link to your Character Page: Ta-Da
Status: Pureblood
Residence: Bemenda, Cameroon
Nationality: Cameroonian
History: Somebody has to provide the Cocoa for exploding bon-bons and chocolate frogs, and that's Miryam's family. Miryam's father, Clovis met Miryam's mother at her family's winery. The Mbassi family had a long standing partnership with the Aveline family, to the point where if one of their children insisted on a gap year to 'see the world' they were simply sent to the other family's home. Clovis was one of those children that wanted to see what else the world had to offer, if there was something he rather be doing than working on the family Cocoa farm. Where he met Miryam's mother Noëlle.
Miryam grew up on her Grandmother's cocoa plantation, along with [most] of her cousins. Doing her part to care for the Cocoa trees, clearing paths for her aunts, uncles, and parents to harvest and eventually getting to harvest herself. She was raised speaking English but her french mother insisted on her learning french as well so they could visit her family without a language barrier separating them.
Miryam grew up going to Quidditch games, her family being rich purebloods. Thanks to their successful Cocoa company, it was uncommon for Miryam to miss the world cup. She still remembers the first time she went, at only four years old she sat atop her Father's shoulders watching the players whiz about. Ever sense then Miryam has adored Quidditch. Growing up on a toy broomstick and playing Quidditch-like games with her cousins as soon as their chores were done. Her favorite was when they were clearing out the Cocoa beans that hadn't grown properly and couldn't be used. They would throw them at the people below like bludgers and it was the job of the people below to hit them away with a stick, extra points if it hit someone else. When Miryam was six she announced that one day, she was going to win the world cup with her team as a bludger. Her father, wanting to support her dream, used his woodcarving skills to make Miryam a beater's bat out of one of the cocoa trees that had been destroyed in a storm. Her parents gave her this bat when she was 9 and they believed she wouldn't hurt herself.
While a pure-blood Miryam has some interaction with the muggle world thanks to the Mbassi family blacksheep, Anacle. Who married a muggle woman and runs a convenience store with her in the nearest town. Because of this she has heard of and tried most muggle candies and knows what a magazine is.
First Magic: When Miryam was 4, on of her older cousins snuck up behind her and startled her. Grabbing her shoulders and shouting 'Rawr!'. This made Miryam jump and then promptly hiccup bright purple bubbles. She continued hiccuping these bubbles for the rest of the day.

STATUS: Pending, Jabari ya Nyota, July 4th
- As of July 1st, we no longer update trunks with spells or potions, nor do we do transfers of spells and potions at this final staging of transition. Please remove mentions of spells and potions in your form. You will have to update your trunk's coding mentioning spells and potions while at it. Please keep in mind the standardization rules of trunk coding. No color, no text sizes under 100, no tables, etc.
- Your backstory has been approved
- Your iNPC's year has been submitted to admins as a fourth year, along with a nationality change to being Cameroonian and school being Uagadou. Once you have updated your trunk to remove mentions of spells and potions, you can be officially enlisted onto the school registration and sport roster as a quidditch team beater. I recommend having this done ASAP if you wish to partake in this year's quidditch summer games (due date for applications are July 14th).

Name: Salim Wolde
PC Account Name: Olivia Williams
School: Uagadou
Year: Second
Link to your Character Page: Here!
Status: Wizardborn
Residence: Greyton, South Africa
Nationality: Swedish
History: Salim Wolde was born on February 19th in Sweden. His mother Bisa and his father Oringo were originally from Africa but had moved to Sweden because Bisa was going to work with magical creatures. But tragically, Oringo had to go back to Africa just a week after Salim was born. He had to take care of his uncle who was very old and work to get more money for the family. Bisa, who was left alone in Sweden where the language was still foreign and where she didn't know anyone, was then helped by a Swedish witch who was also her new colleague. The witch herself had a daughter and helped Bisa get settled.
In Salim's everyday life, magic was a constant because his mother often took him to work where he got to meet many exciting magical creatures. Salim seemed to have a natural way with the creatures, an invisible bond that Bisa thought was a gift in her somewhat difficult time. And even though Oringo wasn't present in Salim's first year of growing up, Salim didn't notice it himself.
But in the spring of the same year Salim turned five, something terrible happened. The witch Bisa had become such a good friend with died, or rather was killed by a magical creature. Bisa, who was devastated, decided to move back to Africa and leave her grief behind.
Salim was able to meet his father for the first time in many years. It was strange at first, Oringo appeared like a stranger but Salim quickly adapted. They now lived in the village of Greyton in South Africa. Bisa continued to work with magical creatures, but now Salim had to stay home and help his father with various chores.
Life was very different now compared to how it had been in Sweden. It was even stranger when Salim suddenly got a little sister. She was born in March the same year Salim turned six. Suddenly there was a little screaming child that Salim needed to take care of. Salim had to name her Mariama, a beautiful name he thought. It meant God's gift, which was exactly what she was.
Two years after that, a little brother named Hamidi was also born. Now Salim really had a lot to do, he had to do chores for his father and take care of his younger siblings. But he didn't complain, he stood his ground and did everything he could to make sure everyone had a good time.
The year Salim was to start at Uagadou, the family had a bit of a problem, who would now do all the chores that Salim had taken care of. For a while, Salim's father seriously considered not letting Salim go for so-called family reasons. But Bisa persuaded Oringo, she thought it was important that Salim got the education he deserved and so it was.
First Magic: Salim's first encounter with his own magic happened when he was nine years old. It had been the middle of the night when Salim had been awakened by a sound. The sound sounded like a growl. Salim had pawed out of his bed and out of the house, drawn by curiosity. He had rounded the corner of the house and was walking a few steps into the shadows when he saw what was causing the sound.
There was a small gazelle cub lying on the ground. As Salim got closer, he saw that it was entangled in a mass of branches and vines. He carefully knelt down next to the animal and used his voice to calm it. He told it not to be afraid and that he would help it.
The gazelle turned its head and fell silent, it understood that Salim meant it no harm. Salim stretched out his hands and then something strange happened. The branches and vines began to move on their own when Salim had touched them. They unwound the small gazelle cub, which carefully got to its feet and looked into Salim's eyes. A silent thank you before it turned and ran away.
The next day, Salim told his mother what had happened. Bisa was overjoyed to learn that Salim had magic and that the gazelle had survived.
