As round 4 rolled in, it was interesting, to say the least. Dueling can be brutal from time to time and thus it is not a rare occurrence there will be a casualty or two during the battle. Round 4 was less chaotic and ferocious than the last one but it did not mean there was a lack of actions from both sides of the piste.

Cash let out a high pitch whistle by putting their middle and thumb fingers under their tongue to indicate the next round to begin. Without missing a beat, Logan Baird from the house of Hufflepuff raised her wand and pointed at the young Ravenclaw which is Adelaide Barlowe.

With an astute spell incantation and wand movement for the Knockback Jinx, the jet of light once again hit Barlowe directly on her chest making her a bit hard to breathe for a brief while. Cssh grew concerned seeing Barlowe's labored breath. "Take a deep breath, Barlowe" Instructed the Viridian Viper Co-Captain.

And when Barlowe was less pale than a minute before and there was no sign of Barlowe passing out any time soon, Cash nodded their head and continue with the game. It did not take a full minute for Barlowe to retaliate. Although she still had a hard time catching her breath, it did not mean to make her less incompetent when slinging her own choice of a spell.

Although Adelaide Barlowe successfully directed her Flipendo toward AngelFyre McCubbin, the young badger managed to dodge the bullet and thus Barlowe's Knockback Jinx hit the wall. Perhaps why McCubbin could anticipate the evasion is because she paid attention to the wand movement that her partner made before Barlowe slung the spell.

But whatever it is, once again, McCubbin was out of harm's way. Sometimes it was easily forgotten that there were four Duellists instead of just three up on the stage. That is what happens to Cash. As soon as Slytherin laid her eyes on the unmoving statue-like Samantha Salwis, they remembered that Salwis was still very much in the game.

As strong as Samantha Salwis tries to break free from Logan's Full Body-Bind curse, just like the last round, the third-year Ravenclaw unsuccessfully does so. But since the spell wore off, Samantha Salwis finally could move again and was no longer a burden and useless to herself and her teammate. To close this round, it was McCubbin's turn.

The fire that lapped and lick the black and yellow-clad student started to dwindle down and finally, the fire was put off by itself. It was a relief for both Cash and McCubbin. Although the fire had gone off, the burning rash must be taken care of as soon as the Duel was over. Instead of choosing the same spells that she had done in the previous rounds, McCubbin decided to switch things out.

While most Duellists pointed their wand toward their opposing opponent, not this time for McCubbin. AngelFyre McCubbin has chosen the floor on where Adelaide Barlowe stands and shot her spell toward the floor. One minute Barlowe was standing next to Salwis who just broke free from the spell that bind her, the next minute Barlowe slipped to the ground.

The green eyes let out a wince when Barlowe's head bang the floor of the platform quite hard. "You alright, Barlowe?"They asked. But there was no response from the girl. Cash repeated the same question for the second time. But when their inquiry met the same predicament, Cash hurriedly left their post.

"Hold up, hold up!"They stated by making a time-ou sign with their hands. Cash crouched down to check Barlowe's status. And when Cash found out Barlowe was out cold, they flagged down the medic team to bring Barlowe to the side of the platform. Once Barlowe was out for the count, Cash nodded once again to signal the remaining Duellists that the match is safe to resume for the next few rounds that were yet to come.

Being unable to move was Samantha's excuse for being useless, but apparently, her teammate decided to follow her example and miss her target for the second time in a row. Once she had freed herself from this awful spell, she would give Adelaide a piece of her mind. Samantha focused on breaking free, and the young girl failed to notice how bad her partner was doing before it was too late. When she finally managed to get up, Addie fell down unconscious.

"Shit!" the brunette cursed, something she rarely did. Her hate for swearing was not something she was very secretive about, so it was safe to say she was quite surprised by herself. It seemed the language use of her boyfriend had a bad influence on her. She shook the thought as she focused on Adelaide, who she could not scold now as the medical staff carried her away. This meant she would have to face the two Hufflepuffs on her own now, which made her task of winning this duel significantly harder.

[quote][quote]

Two wonderful things happened in Round 4. The devil's flame was no longer charring her skin with agonizing searing licks, which was fantastic, but realistically, a massive amount of damage was done. The fire was out, it was true, but every nerve ending she had was firing non-stop. Simon had told her once that being burned was one of the single most painful things a body could experience. It made since when she thought about it. One's skin was the body's largest organ and these fire spells were cast to last. Pure barbarism, really, but she signed up for dueling willingly, so she just needed to do her best facsimile of her "suck it up buttercup" perseverance act.

It was not an act at this point. She truly was sucking it up as best she could. Breathing hurt as her bronchial lining was damaged from breathing in fire. She was shaking badly from pain and shock. Every move she made stung like nothing else could. The flames were out but the feeling that salt was being tossed onto her blackened, bubbling, weeping skin would mostly refuse to leave her mind. It was a huge psychological boulder in her pathway, and for the immediate future, anyway, it would remain in the middle of the road, forcing her to expend mental and physical energy reserves she truly did not have in the moment to get around it.

Passing out would be a blessing for her mind and body right then, but as that thought beckoned to her, she was reminded that she still had a match to contend with and a dueling partner to support. Casting had been successful for both of them against Adelaide that last round, but it was the combination of Logan's Knockback Jinx this round and Logan's Incendio Duo from last round that became too much for Adelaide. Cash had called a temporary halt to the proceedings as Adelaide was carted off the piste and headed to the Hospital Wing. AngelFyre envied her. She was pain free at least.

So, no more flames and only one opponent. That was the good. But here was the bad; Sam was back in it now, and AngelFyre knew her to be a talented duelist. Two against one sounded foreboding, but one of those two was mostly just a shade of herself. Still, for as long as she could, she would pray that her badger tenacity would propel her forward. If she was going out anytime soon, it was not going to be without a fight.
2023, Stage 3 Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
Logan winced, she knew the point of dueling was to attempt to get the other team out but she would always feel bad about it. The Hufflepuff was surprised with how well she was doing this match. Yes, she had done well in previous matches but she thought she was doing even better than normal during this one. All of her spells hit their targets if not dodged and it seemed like that trend was goung to continue.

Once upon a time, there were four brave Duelllist up on the piste but now only three left that were still standing. Adelaide Barlowe had been the first to fall victim to how brutal and unforgiving Duelling could be. She had been summoned off to the Hospital Wing to get further examination so she did not get any lasting injury and to make sure the second-year Ravenclaw's well-being was okay.

Now, let's get back to the current program that still happens on the platform. On the Hufflepuff side of the piste, there was still a full team consisting of AngelFyre McCubbin and Logan Baird. Meanwhile, Samantha Salwis was the sole defender for the honor and pride of her house since Barlowe had been out from the game in the last round.

The game is very much still in play and already halfway through it. Cash's green eyes paid attention to whom will raise their wand first. Driven by the ambition to win altogether for her house, AngelFyre McCubbin was the first one - for this round at least - who assaulted Samantha Salwis with a Slowing Charm.

McCubbin's Arresto Momentum had been made beautifully and perfectly. The spell from a distance looks like about to hit her intended mark but a millisecond before the Charm could even hit Salwis, the third-year Ravenclaw move out of the way. It was like Sam toying with fate and mocking McCubbin silently at the same time. It was both cruel and Cash never thought Sam had it in her.

Since Salwis was the last and sole fighter to fight for her house's honor and pride, the former Prefect of Ravenclaw must be more tenacious than in her last few rounds if she wanted her house to win this whole Duel. Raising her wand toward McCubbin, Samantha Salwis sent a powerful Knockback Jinx toward the second-year badger.

The jet of light from Salwis's Flipendo hit AngelFyre McCubbin right on her face. It was like the equivalent of someone punching you with great force and in the end, the force gives just enough blowback to render that person unconscious. That was what happened to McCubbin after Salwis's Knockback Jinx.

Cash let out a sigh and left their post after they saw McCubbin was knocked out cold. "Time out, guys!"They uttered as they called out a pause and marched down toward Hufflepuff's side of the stage. The Cuban descendant for the second time flagged down the medical team to usher McCubbin off the platform. Once McCubbin was safe from harm's way, Cash returned to their position.

It now becomes a fight of the fittest for both Baird and Salwis as the two now face each other one-on-one. There are no more teammates to depend on and help them out since both sides of the stage are equal now. Taking a deep breath, Baird's eyes focus on her only opponent. It seems Flipendo and any variation of Incendios are every Duellist's best friend.

Cash had lost count of how many Knockback Jinx and Fire-Making spells had been flung out across the piste on the period the former Prefect of Slythrrin had been a moderator for every Duel they had been on. Today was not an exception to that. Taking out of Salwis and every Duellists' page who had ever used the Knockback Jinx, Baird followed it through.

Saying the correct incantation and making the perfect wand movement for the Flipendo, Logan Baird pointed her wand at Samantha Salwis. It was like a case of silent revenge. Baird also sent a powerful Knockback Jinx to Salwis just like what Salwis did to Baird's teammate. The force from the spell hit Salwis's chest quite hard and made Salwis hard to breathe for a brief while.

Pushing their dislikeness aside for the nuisance of a mudblood muggle-born that is Samantha Salwis, Cash had to make sure Salwis was still okay to continue her battle. "You okay?"Inquired the Viridian Vipers Co-Captain. After Salwis give her word or makes any kind of gesture that she still could continue the duel, Cash nodded at that and could not wait for how the whole Duel will pan out.

This had been AngelFyre's fourth official duel, and she knew deep down she was not going to leave the piste in a state of anything but unconsciousness. She had only managed to remain conscious in her last duel, and while walking off the piste under her own steam was something she had taken great pride in having done at least once, waking in the Hospital Wing was never something that she felt particularly ashamed of either. Battles could, and were, won all the time with warriors finding themselves injured. The Hufflepuff fates were still in question as to the outcome in this duel, but AngelFyre had 2 wins to her credit, even though her part to play in duels largely amounted to being that of bait. That role, while unenviable, was definitely one of importance as it allowed other things to go on in the background.

She was never quite certain why it had always played out that way, but there it was. The benefit and cost analysis made by the other teams in going after her had not paid off, more often than not, in the final analysis, and she hoped that would be be true once again in this match. While it was still a 2 on 1 match, it was clear Sam would be targeting her, and likely hitting her, if not this round, then soon. That was fine as it gave Logan a free shot to do damage without suffering any herself.

AngelFyre looked over at Sam and could see her resolve. Who could blame her? She then looked over at Logan who seemed to be a bit more at ease than she had been since the first round. She was casting well and looked more confident. Good. She was going to need that boost. AngelFyre, if she was being honest with herself, was running on empty right about then. The fighting spirit was there, of course, but the reality was the reality. She was severely weakened and questioning whether she would even be able to cast. Would be nice not to knock herself out of her duel as she had once infamously done, and she she chuckled to herself.

Scraping together as much energy as she could while getting into position and keeping her focus on Sam, AngelFyre sputtered out to Logan. "You totally have this, Logan," and then while she had the momentum, (pun about to be intended!) she quickly raised her left arm and motioned perfectly while intoning a surprisingly crisp and clear "Arresto Momentum" at Sam.

AngelFyre remembered with a good deal of satisfaction that her wand warmed comfortably in her hand and she felt the energy building for a successful casting. The spell was even beautifully aimed, which again, was surprising given her pitiful state, but she had done it. She also managed to see Sam easily sidestep it, which was a bummer. Ah well. And then blessed release was aimed right at her from the other side of the piste. A strong Knockback Jinx sailed across the stage and was aimed right for her face. Really? Her face? That was a new one. Was Sam a little off on her aim, or was she just so good that she was showing off by hitting a smaller target than someone's chest? AngelFyre had just enough time to wonder if it was going to break her nose or a cheekbone while attempting to unsuccessfully dodge it.

It hit and it was then lights out. She was unconscious before she even hit the ground, but if anyone had seen her face, they would have seen a smile gracing her lips.

2023, Stage 3 Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
Logan winced as AngelyFyre was knocked out. This match could have gone in so many directions but she had not managed to see this one, this match was just pure chaos. She knew she needed to focus now though, with her partner out it was back to an even playing ground and anything could happen. If Logan was lucky, she would be able to get every hit but she also knew that luck was never on her side. She was going to feel bad about having to duel again Sam, but there was not much of a choice and there was no way that she was backing out now.

The brunette was well aware that both Hufflepuffs would probably aim their wand at her and she needed to be on top of her game now even more. While trying to look out for incoming spells, Samantha would cast the knockback jinx and aim her wand at AngelFyre. With a satisfied smile on her face, she watched the spell hit. Just in time, the girl had noticed the spell AngelFyre had sent her way, but she was too late to notice Logan's flipendo.

A disgusted look appeared on Samantha's face when the older student and dueling captain asked how she was doing. "I am doing great," she replied annoyed to the moderator of her duel. The young girl managed to stop herself from adding that she was doing better than the relationship between Cash and their parents will ever be. She didn't like Cash at all and usually took every opportunity to annoy them. But she needed to be professional now, so she kept quiet.

Samantha Salwis vs Logan Baird
Reducio
Sam missed sending her action to the moderator and thus she missed her post round.
Cash raised their eyebrows at the tone Salwis decided to use at the moderator. They did not miss the annoyance that was laced within Salwis's words. "A little 'thank you for asking' would suffice, you a little piece of sh-,"Cash trailed off. Their green eyes wander to the massive spectator that watching the ongoing match.

Many sets of eyes gazed on the former Prefect of Slytherin. They would not lose their composure no matter how much the snake hate the other girl. Taking a sharp breath to control their inner anger, Cash released the said sharp breath slowly so they did not blow up. Samantha Salwis always brings out the worse of them with every interaction the fourth and third years had.

Pushing their detested for one Ravenclaw, Cash still had a job to do that is overseeing the match. The match will be bound to get interesting from this round to the last one. Cash has never seen a 1v1 game before aside from the unofficial ones. Both contenders are strong ones and Cash for once intrigues how this will play out.

As another round rolled in, Baird did not waste her chance. With a little dramatic flair of spell casting and wand movement, the Fire-Makig II spell had been shot out from Logan Baird's wand and fly across the stage. The fire of Incendio Duo is big and robust enough that it started to lap up Samantha Salwis.

Does Cash feel a bit bad for the annoying girl? Only the slightest. But all the Duellists know the risk when it comes down to Duelling from the first get-go they signed up to be one. Then when it was Samantha Salwis' turn, the girl did nothing. Perhaps she was stunned by the fire released by her opponent or something bugging her mind.

Whatever it is, it was not Cash's business. "You sure you okay, Sam?"Cash inquired. The Co-Captain never called the other girl by her first name except to annoy her. "You lack of action tell me otherwise,"They added on. "Should I call it or what?"They mocked Salwis even more. Round 6 was quicker and shorter than the moderator's temper. And that's saying something.

An eyebrow was raised when the other dueling captain was about to call her a piece of shit but stopped themselves just in time. If she was being quite honest, she was getting pretty nervous about this duel, as she realized she might not win it. In order to regain some confidence, she searched the spectators for her boyfriend.

The few seconds she searched for the boy's brown eyes were used by Logan to cast a spell. As the eagle felt a flame burn in her skin, her attention was brought back to the duel. "Yeah," she replied with a hateful smile. "I am doing better than your relationship with your parents will ever be," she snapped, soon realizing how stupid it was to make that comment in front of such a big crowd while Cash was moderating her duel.
