Knights Tourney

Cassie is excited about this game she signed up named the Knights Tourney. This first year students of Ravenclaw, Hogwarts has just exited the maze. As she is walking to the designated place, Mira is still recalling the wonderful time she had finding her way in the magical maze.
She will be competing against Lucia Fox, a fourth year girl of Hufflepuff, Hogwarts. She is nervous, for her opponent is strong, very strong, but she herself is just a young first year. But she is excited as well. This is the first race Cassie has competed in since she came to Hogwarts to study. She hopes this can be a stage of hers to prove her abilities and skills.
Now, she is at the area for the race of the Knights Tourney. Her heart is beating as fast as ever. She quickly finds a broom for her. It is an Ivy Unicorn, a pretty elegant broom which is just suitable for her. As the race begins, Cassie starts to think what action should she take. Should she defense? The opponent is so strong. Should she taunt? Wit is well-valued among Ravenclaw. Or should she attack? What if she manages to win? After some consideration, she has made her decision.

As participants gathered their armour and their brooms, the moderator (who was very much not Beatrice Langstreth as she was traversing the maze with a bothersome potioneer) was excited for this match. And it seemed that the participants were too. Some maybe a little more so than others, with two participants pulling out before the game had truly even begun. There were others willing to take their place though, that being Cassie Jiang and Verona Andreas. And as they did, the matches begun!
It seemed many, nearly all if the moderator was watching closely enough, were out for blood. Or as close as you could get when holding a lance and shield on a magical, over-decorated broomstick! Nearly all the matches had ended the first round with one opponent winning against the other. Daphne Sapphirus, Andy Mention, Raizel Voltrouz and Aryaan Shamsi all fumbled their lances during the accelaeration, missing their targets and allowing their opponent to window to hit. Only Fang Hui-Ying and Roksana Nikolayev Volkov were both able to hit in the same match, a resounding smack echoing as they did.
As the moderator watched the squires choose to attack again and again, they was amazed when a couple chose to shield and taunt their opponents instead.
The shields were a mixed bag, with Amaris Levine being successful in defending against her opponent Jannette Applebottom, whereas Mathis Aloysius utterly failed. The moderator wasn't sure if it was the weight of holding two things at once whilst on the broomstick or what, but the shield went down and the opponents lance up. A wicked whack on the chest could be heard from the wooden lance, and the moderator cringed at the blow.
The taunts though, in the same match had been a favourite of the moderator. Both girls, Cassie Jiang and Cassie McGregor-Martin, from different schools and in different years, seemed to take delight in teasing and hopefully enraging the other.
Overall, the round hadn't been too bad, with most matches having a clear winner so far. Hopefully not too many lances were broken and amour dented (easily fixed of course with a Reparo spell), and the knights in training would be ready for round 2!

| ─── | Tone quickly moved out when his name was called by the announcers.
He hadn't really met his opponent, a boy known as Mathis, but it would be fun going up against him! "Let's go, Mori!" Tone murmured to his black-gold Woodland Steed, letting his fingers trail over the pink piece of cloth wrapped around the gold handle. When the race started, Tone quickly zoomed towards his opponent, not wanting to waste a second of time. Bringing his lance up, he leveled it at Mathis. As he drew closer, it became obvious to him that Mathis was not going to try and attack him but rather shield against his own attack. Adjusting his lance, Tone aimed off to the side and then at the last second veered back a little bit. Towards the other side. Hitting his target directly where he wanted to, the shield was blown away from its current location, and Tone's lance struck Mathis straight in the chest. Thankfully, the boy had armor on. But even if he'd gotten hurt, there were healers and intern healers to help out. The front part of his lance was now somewhat shattered. Finishing the first round, Tone turned around, Mori's movement being pretty decent for a school broom. Returning to the other side, Tone exchanged his broken lance for a fresh new one. He waited for the second round to begin. Glancing around, Tone saw that Hiko and Botan had also come out victorious. The only one from Mahoutokoro who hadn't been successful had surprisingly been Yan. But it was early in the game, anything could happen as time passed, so there was still hope for him. Now, if only Tone himself could continue this victorious streak, he would dominate this event! |

A snack would've been nice, Raizel thought while she was examining the 'Woodland Steed' in her hand, thinking back about the banquet and the scene that met her eyes when she emerged from the maze. The colorful tents where a variety of delicacies and drinks sat on top of nature looking tables to match the spirit of spring. Oh how she would love to get a taste of those after getting lost in the maze. Sadly, she hurried to the tourney but she did regret not grabbing any treats to replenish the energy she had spent running through the maze. She felt so out of it now that she began thinking about it more, feeling her hunger growing. Maybe after the tourney, she could grab a bite and join her companion whom she had left in the Royal Banquet area and hopefully, she could see where her friends are as well.
She waited until it was her turn for the tourney, watching the other 'Knights' zoom with their broom, lance pointed at their opponents. Raizel glanced back at her broom, removing the hat that she was wearing as she wouldn't want it to get in the way of her playing in this tourney, letting it sit somewhere safe so she could still find it after the match. It's gonna be hard playing with it. Once it was her turn, she couldn't help but feel a sudden nervousness as she went into position, mounting the broomstick that she had chosen and it certainly has a different feel from how her own broom feels. She isn't that confident in her flying skills, heck, she struggled in her flying class. But after receiving her own broom from her dad, she had been practicing with it and after getting used to it, the school broom had become a stranger to her.
It has been a while since she had used a school broom except during classes and it certainly feels different than her own broomstick. She was still getting used to the feel of it again when the match began, making her panic as she tried to lunge towards her opponent with her lance. Her opponent was someone she couldn't recognize and was probably from a different school too. She didn't have time to take a good look at him as her attack missed and her opponent hit her. What luck, was all she could think of as she almost lost control of the broom after she got hit. She sighed once she got it under control before going back to their initial positions.

April 21, 2023 - The Spring Court Ball's Knights Tourney
He was caught a little off guard as the tournament's beginning matches were called. As Stephen had stood there thinking back to the Hexwizard match last Fall, both the former Black King and former Black Knight made their way out onto this particular tournament's field of battle. All thought to greeting Andy Merton momentarily evaporated as Stephen turned to watch how their match would go. He felt he knew exactly how it would go, but no. He was not even close. There was what sounded like some good natured banter between the two Mahoutokoro students, but as the older knight was about to get into position, he just stopped altogether for a few moments. He then, most surprisingly, bowed out of the competition.
What in Merlin's name?
As the knight walked off the field, he passed Stephen and their eyes momentarily met. Stephen could read enough into the look to see that the older boy knew he had seen Stephen before, but what was not clear was whether he had placed just where and when he had seen him. Most surprisingly, the fellow smiled at him and gave a little wave. Cool! A warrior on the field and quite possibly a civil human being off of it. Stephen waved back and watched the fellow leave with a mixed bag of feelings.
He would have liked the opportunity to have observed him in this match, but that just wasn't in the cards. No matter. He had his own match to contend with and absolutely no idea who he would be going up against. He needed to direct his thoughts on that right now. The element of surprise certainly kept it interesting.
He heard his name called and so it was time to engage. As he was standing not 3 meters from Andy, he quickly ran over to him and wished him luck. Then he turned back around and moved out onto the field. His opponent was already out there so Stephen walked briskly, but confidently, without looking like he was rattled in any way. He actually wasn't. He noted, quite happily, that the sun was very low in the sky and the torches lighting the track were not so close together as to offer a perfectly spotlit track. This was exactly why he had opted for a completely black suit of armor as well as a black woodland steed. Racing down the track, in and out of light and into the shadows and back into the light would be a bit confusing to the eye. Every little edge he could get he would take and use to his full advantage. He wasn't trying to be unseen necessarily; he just wanted to confuse a little, if possible.
As he got to his end of the track, he quickly removed all of the jingly bells and any colorful ribbons and dropped them to the ground. Again, no point in advertising where he was, right? He quickly scanned the crowd to see if he could spot EmmaLee, but a cursory glance missed her entirely. Maybe she changed her mind, he wondered briefly before kicking that thought to the side. Can't go there now, pal. You have work to do and a match to win.
He mounted his trusty steed broom, whom he had christened Onyx, and looked down the track to his opponent. It looked to be a girl, and for the moment anyway, an unfocused one. He raised his right arm at a 90 degree angle in a form of acknowledgement to her, but Stephen was not entirely certain she saw it as there was no response back. Fair enough.
When the signal to start was given, Stephen was ready. He had balanced his lance in his right hand while his left held onto Onyx. In the seconds before feet left the ground, he purposefully dropped his shield as well. He was a boy, not an octopus for God's sake. If Onyx were a real horse, he would have been able to hold both a shield and a lance, but Onyx was, alas, just a broom. Accomplished broom flyer that he was, he was not going to risk injury in this tournament that could maybe have him out of the more important Hexwizard tournament coming up. Whatever happened here tonight, win or lose, Stephen Schwartz was going to remain on his broom. Or so he hoped.
He pushed off with both feet while rasping out an "Up!" and he was off. He bent down low over Onyx's neck to get up some good speed and, once again, to make himself a smaller target to see. At just the precise moment he needed to, he raised himself up and saw his opponent's lance brush by him as he then felt the satisfactory thrust and hard push back in his own hand as his lance made solid contact on her and splintered on the spot.
Excellent!
As he raised up and guided Onyx's neck up, slowing them down considerably, he did a tight half circle and looked back at his opponent. She was still on her steed and Stephen was glad that she had not been injured.
As they passed each other, flying back to their starting positions for Round 2, Stephen really slowed down and said to her, "Nice job. You almost hit me. My name is Stephen by the way. Maybe I can get your name when we meet back here after Round 2, assuming I am still conscious, that is," and he laughed as he leaned forward, picking up speed to get back and get ready for Round 2.

It wasn't that Akihiko was expecting himself to lose, but he certainly didn't imagine the results turning out as well as they did.
The broom was a little different from the expensive brooms Akihiko used at home, but it was easy enough to maneuver, and light enough that it complimented his lean build. Overall a good broom, and a good choice, although it was nowhere near as nice as him family's brooms.
Akihiko knew he wasn't the strongest of all kids. Truth be told, he was scrawny as a shrimp and had no muscle built up, which made using the sword a little more difficult, but he was smart enough to figure out how to hold it for the optimal results.
It had been admittedly easy in the first round to win. His opponent, Daphne Sapphirus, had swung her sword and completely missed him, giving him to opening to attack her, and to win. He found that once he was in motion it was easier for him to swing, even though the swing didn't have much power, he was accurate, and that was what mattered. He was pretty sure the goal wasn't to knock out your opponent, but just to hit them.
Akihiko turned to study his fellow Mahoutokoro students and saw that all but one had had similar successes. Good for them. With a burst of pride, he opened his mouth and cheered in a tongue that all of his classmates would recognize. "ゴーマホトコロ!" 1 he cried. He even pumped his fist in the air. Hopefully that wouldn't annoy the other schools too much...
He refocused on the game, shifting the sword around in his hand while waiting for the signal to go. He knew what he would try, if only he could focus in at the task at hand. His shield weighed heavily on his left arm, while his fingers ran along the hilt of the sword in his left hand. Discipline helps you win, not skill. That's what he was taught as he grew up, and he was ready to put it into play now...

After the first round, Cassie realizes that this game isn't as easy as she thought. In the last round, she and Cassie, her opponent both taunted, causing no one to score. Well, this is truly a game of logic and luck.
She is a bit anxious. What if she still gets no point this round? What if she gets hit? What if she became the last in final scores? Just then, some words appeared in her mind. 'Stay safe and good luck.' Those sweet words come from her date Zach Zaphiere. They make Cassie feel warm, and they gives her strength. Yes, she will have luck and stay safe.
As a Ravenclaw, Cassie always believe she has good logic. So, she starts to analyze the current situation. After the last round's experience, her opponent might attack. If she shield, she will stay safe but not get points. If she attacks, she might not be safe. If she taunts... who knows? The result is up to both of them.
If only Zach can be with her. Perhaps he can help her or just encourage her. Cassie decides to secretly row a dice to decide what to do. Who knows? Perhaps the worst move now can turn out to be the best.

Watashi wa imanotokoro hoguwātsu o tanoshinde imasuga, anata wa dōdesu ka? | Hello Aki-san. good to see you. I am enjoying hogwarts so far, what about you? He told his cousin, and then walked away.
Botan was ready for the next round. He had successfully completed one lance, and hit the Andy boy. A fresh rush of adrenaline rushed through his veins and he had more motivation.
His opponent, Andy, had swung at him, trying to get a lance in, but he missed. Not by much, but not by a lot. He missed though, and that was all that mattered. And that Botan had successfully Lanced Andy.
Botan had no clue what action to do next. He knew that shielding was playing it safe and Lancing was putting it out there and getting him closer to winning. He wanted to win badly but the broom he was on was very different than the one he used at home.
His parents had gotten him a nice broom to use, hoping it would motivate him to become a better racer. But no. His Aunt and Uncle just got his cousin a broom that was similar, and maybe even better than the one he had. The only thing was that his parents didn’t let him take the good broom to Mahoutokoro, so what was even the point of owning it? Botan didn’t know.
What he did know was a broom bought from the shops was better than the school brooms, so he had used all of the galleons that he had save to buy a cheap broom. It wasn’t very fast, but it worked. It did alright. Once he had more money saved up, he would most likely sell the broom and buy a new one with the money.
Apparently, All of the other Mahoutokoro students had done well, including his cousin. Well, there was one student who had failed, but the others had done well. Botan was sort of surprised that his cousin Akihiko had done well, but he just shrugged it off and went back to trying to decide what to do to Andy.

It took quite some time for both Ronnie and Haley to come out from the Enchanted Maze. Initially, when the young couple gets out of the maze, they will go straight away to the Banquet Hall but something grabbed the South American Duellist's attention. Upon seeing a knight holding a lance decorated in colorful ribbons holding up a parchment in the other armored hand, the words ‘Knights of the Court this way!’, the Brazillian need to know what's going on.
He feel bad for his girlfriend but Ronnie had promised to himself that he will have the most fun whenever his school visited Hogwarts. Ronnie turned around and looked at Haley's green eyes. "I know I promise you that we go straight away to the Banquet but that," Ronnie pointed to the Knight statue. "That looks fun!"The blue-grey eyes boy smiled from ear to ear.
Hoping his girlfriend would allow him to join the game or even spectated the match. "You can come with me if you want but if not, I will look for you once the game was over"He stated as he walked backward. Without waiting for what his girlfriend said for the matter, the over-joy personified golden retriever puppy ran toward the jousting area.
At first, Ronnie was there to watch the game but then two of their original Knights had dropped dead pulled out, and one of the moderators called out a brave Knight to take their place, Ronnie shot his head up in the sky quicker than the Flash could ever run. And so, before the match begin, Ronnie had picked their trusty steed and his choice of colored armor.
Once the game was underway, Ronnie was not sure what he need to do but luckily one of the moderators gave a quick brief to Ronnie. Once the Ramírez boy understand how the game worked, he had confidence in himself. As the go signal was been given and his opponent come charging at him, Ronnie's heart beat out of his chest like a thunderstorm on a black night.
Ronnie took a deep breath and calm himself. He made a mental calculation when he needs to dodge the incoming attack. And when his opponent getting closer and closer and about to strike him, Ronnie streed out of the way, and thus for this round, he was out of harm's way. Ronnie smirked to himself. Now, it is time to retaliate. Game on!

Daphne found herself dropping her lance, it slipping from her fingers as she ran forward. She ended up being hit, falling onto the ground with a soft thud after she had missed her target. Daphne wasn't expecting to lose this quickly, she wanted to attack because for a sweet girl like her, one may guess she'd avoid attacking at all costs. She grimaced, feeling something that she had never had in a long time, not frustration but anger. Maybe it was because she was mad at herself for falling on her dress, after all she had no qualms with Akihiko personally.
Daphne rose up to her feet, tilting her head to the side in curiosity after hearing him speak. She wondered what it meant, but he certainly seemed happy for sure, along with the Mahoutokoro students in the crowd. She looked around to see the other teams, noticing how some fell while others managed to hit their opponent. Daphne adjusted her grip on the lance, now preparing herself to make another action. It didn't matter if she was happy he was representing his school which would leave a good record, She had to be careful about this, but she couldn't back down either.
