Rosie shivered at the idea of being housed in the dungeons. She was glad Howie was just across the common room. Considering Hogwarts history, it was comforting to know that the people she cared about were close by. She said nothing in response. She really didn't have anything to say. At this point, saying that she was glad they were in the same house would have been redundant. She was sure he knew that by now. Besides, it looked silly if she kept parroting him.

As they entered the common room, she looked around. Most of the other Huffles had already gone to bed. There were some scattered here and there. Some were still in their fancy clothes. A puzzled look crossed her face. Some of them looked distraught. What was going on? She frowned, but she didn't know anyone well enough to ask, so she left it alone.

Right about the middle of the common room, Rosie sighed. At this point it really wouldn't make sense for Howie to accompany her any further. No, it was time to go separate ways. She turned towards him, willing herself to look into his eyes, but it was pretty clear she was suddenly very shy. Or at least more shy than she had been by the lake. Maybe it was the other people in the room. "I guess this is where I say goodnight." As naturally as she possibly could, she reached out and hugged him. It wasn't really a long hug, but it wasn't necessarily fast either. She definitely lingered, but just a moment. To someone experienced, they may have realized that Rosie was trying to play it cool. She felt like she failed miserably.

When she released him, she smiled sheepishly. "I'll see you tomorrow."

The familiar warmth of the Hufflepuff Common Room washed over Howie as he entered with Rosie. A comforting smell of the plants and the the ever present fire filled his nostrils. The two sensations bringing him back down from the high he had been soaring on since his hand first touched hers, sleepiness and fatigue set in.

If Howie had been able to peel his eyes away from Rosie’s, he might have seen the troubled and worried faces of his fellow housemates. Might have seen the burns in the fabric of thier dresses and robes, or how some were dripping wet.

Howie made his way from the entrance to the middle of the room with her, trying to take every step as slow as he could in an attempt to stretch out the seconds just a bit longer. However, there was no need to walk with her any further as thier dorms were on opposite sides. The time had come for this most special night to conclude. “Yes, unfortunately it does end here...time to say goodnight.” He said to her as they both came a bit more reserved. He opened his arms as she approached him, and they shared a brief but meaningful hug. Leaning down he whispered in her ear, “Goodnight Rosie. Thank you for the most wonderful night. Sleep well.” As they let go of each other, Howie gave her a big smile and a wink. Turning, he went to his dorm, stripped into his pajamas, and was soon fast asleep. The grin stayed with him as he slept, dreaming of red curls and bright green eyes.
