Mentions Hogwarts Team
A small smile appeared on her face as she noticed Howard's enthusiasm. She could not share it now because nerves weighed down her heart. Dealla seemed very ready for the whole thing too. Despite her ability to share this optimism, it was nice to see that the others were less worried than she was. Percival was as motivating and hopeful as ever with his choice of words!

Turning her attention to the board, she focused on that. It was the only thing that mattered. They had to win. Not just for Hogwarts pride or to save face or whatever, but rather for a far more important reason. They had to prove the papers - and society - wrong. What was it the daily prophet claimed? That half-breeds just needed a chance to play on an equal playing field against purebloods and they'd win? This was that very moment. They had to show they could win on an equal playing field. Whether or not the opposing team were purebloods was not something Serena was aware of - nor did it matter. What mattered was, they could not lose.

And knowing that was eating her stomach, making it churn further with nerves. Stepping onto the board, she felt her appearance change. Everything changed. If she was less nervous - and aware that this would happen - perhaps she would have done a dance to accompany her transformation as well as some fancy poses. However, she did not.

Instead, she stood there, focused on her opponents as the material fluttered around her. She was no stranger to wearing hats but ones as big as this? That was new. It fully covered her head - and she was almost worried that it would fall over her eyes and she would have to push it up to see but that was fine. Who needed to see? Not her! The black material fluttered around her arms - long sleeves covering them entirely appeared. Her long robes would clean the floor as she moved, it was fine. She suddenly felt very formal, as she glanced down at the black outfit now drowning her. Drowning in clothes seemed a fitting way to do this. At least she was comfortable. Her fingers ran over the large book that appeared in her arms before bringing it closer to her chest and clutching it.

For a few moments, her thoughts consumed her and she stood there just observing this change. That was when she heard it. A roar so loud that it likely deafened anyone who made the mistake of standing nearby. A voice that she instantly recognised, but full of an emotion that she was not quite used to. Pride.

She looked over to the boy who was her opposite in height. There was a look of surprise on her face as her eyes watered a little staring at him. She did not expect to see anyone in the stands there for her but it meant the world to her that someone was. Her heart warmed as she saw him. He was even donning the helmet that she made for him. Yet there was no smile on her face. Instead, her face bore a look of focus as the determination surged through her once more. Removing one hand from the book, she raised it to her forehead and gave him a quick salute with it. A silent gesture to say 'aye aye captain'.

With that, she blinked back the tears that threatened to leave her eyes and turned back to the game. She had to do this. Not just for her or for Howard but for Hugh too. Serena had seen Hugh suffer the most at the hands of haters. They had to win. Standing slightly taller - not that anyone would really notice - she straightened her back, squared her shoulders and prepared herself. It was time to give them hell. With that, she flipped open the book.

It was time for the tournament to officially begin. Their walk into the ballroom was now a walk onto the platform. Bloom looked at the horse she had to climb upon. "Here goes nothing," she thought aloud to herself and climbed up the chess piece. When she sat on the saddle of the horse, she looked down to see that her clothing was changing! From the boring uniform that she was wearing to a woman of darkness.

Her uniform changed to black fabric hugging her body. There were tears at the waist, mimicking rib cages. Her shoulders were covered in black armor. Her shoes transformed into boots that were surfaced with the same armor as her shoulders. In addition, her face makeup had looked dark and mysterious. Her eyes were black with a cat eye, lips red and her hair beautifully curved down her back. In her hands appeared a lance. Bloom looked badass. Her first response when changing was to look at Howard, who, too, transformed.

The leather armor that he was wearing... It fit him. Bloom smiled at her Damphir who looked just as badass as she did. For some reason, this transformation had given her some confidence. She felt like a new character who was coming in for the win. She couldn't wait to start and beat Koldovstoretz's ass.

As soon as Dee stepped onto the board, shadows begun reaching for her that had her flinching backwards instinctively. While the eyes of the world on her didn't scare her (although maybe they should), some things did, and in her experience, living, moving darkness was not something you'd want to be in contact with.

But there was no biting, no skittering, the dark, shimmering haze swirling around her in intricate patterns seemingly not hostile at all, and the expected attack did not come. Instead, the feel of the clothing she was wearing changed, from something that was likely simple cotton to a smoother, nobler fabric. A sudden, unexpected weight on her head and her shoulders, and she reached up with questioning fingers to find a crown of sorts on her head, or at least some spiky contraption, cold to the touch. Her shoulders were enveloped by a coat big enough to swallow her, and as she lifted her arm, twisting around herself to get a better look, a scepter took the opportunity to appear in her outstretched hand, metal and beset with topaz between its branch-like twist. "Oh, awesome," she observed, genuinely amazed. "I hope someone's taking pictures." They likely were, there was enough press in attendance.

There was the slight concern about what this whole getup would do to her agility - she wasn't the sturdiest of people, in duels, a few successful hits were usually enough to take her out, so she'd made it her business to not get hit. Balancing a crown and a massive scepter, not to mention dragging around this monster of a cloak was likely not conducive to being quick on her feet, but if it came to it, she wouldn't hesitate to ditch both crown and cloak. Perhaps they could impede her opponents instead. The scepter, though, that she could get used to.

But then, this was magic, so more than likely, it wouldn't be a problem. She took a quick turn to confirm, twirling around on her feet, the cloak following behind, then lifted both her hands in a ending pose as if to call lightning down with her scepter to strike her opponents, and grinned widely. There were still wisps of black smoke trailing around, and she was pretty sure it made for a hell of an effect. More intimidating than the pristine, princely white outfit their opponents had gotten, at the very least, she noted smugly.

Taking her place between Peri and Serena, she grinned a wicked grin at Rodion, opposite of her on the other side of the board, playing King for his own team. They'd spoken before, she'd interviewed him twice for the Headliner, and both times he'd failed to make himself look intimidating. "Ready to give up yet?" she called over to him, her tone friendly, for the moment. "Think about it, there's still some time." Her gaze trailed to Irina, turning patronizing. With a team that refused to think for itself, really, Rodion was better off ending it sooner rather than later. "No guarantees what's going to happen if you don't," she added, an edge of mocking in her voice, the cadence in her voice making the words almost a sort of singsong. Goading them, if they'd take the bait.

Percival took in the atmosphere and walked onto his square with that same confident swagger he always brought on in situations like this. Within an instant, his body was transformed into a chariot pulled by a beastly black horse. In turn, the clothing he once wore was replaced by leather that the ladies were probably more than happy to see. The whole thing forced an eye roll from the pureblood, who wasn't fond of the spectacle surrounding the transformation.

Sitting there, he looked over to the opposite team who seemed to be quite confident in their ability. Some spoke in different languages, while others said their insults in a tongue they understood. Gray was only going to share the same treatment back to them with a tongue they wouldn't know too well either "Tá tú go léir coirt agus gan aon bite, imbeciles" You're all bark and no bite, imbeciles and just in case they didn't catch the memo, which they didn't, he'd wind up a middle finger to those who spoke up to make sure they did with a sarcastic smirk.

Gray leaned back in his chariot and was soon drawn to the mixed crowd. Many were cheering normally for their schools, but on the other hand, a few were shouting things that were entirely outdated. Percival looked at them with a silent and deadly stare, one that didn't show an ounce of what he thought on the matter. Time would only tell what he thought of them, or if they were truly his "friends" to begin with.

Rosella made her way to her place on the board, a soft gasp leaving her as she looked down at the dress she had been transformed into. The girl thought it was beautiful and went well with the scepter in her hand, she could only assume the crown on her head matched just as well. Maybe if she was lucky she could keep the outfit after the task was over, she assumed she would not be able to keep it, but maybe she would be lucky. The girl's eyes slowly swept across the Hogwarts students across from them when she noticed the other queen. The Russian girl never realized that a black gown could look good on someone who would not normally be seen wearing that style of clothing.

Kolya can only watch with barely contained awe as his teammates begin to step onto the board, one by one. The brilliant veil of light that encompasses and transforms them to fit their assigned role is almost too bright to look at, but he certainly does his best. So cool. He couldn't quite place his finger on it, but there was something about the transformations that rang vaguely familiar. The boy is so absorbed in watching the spectacle that he very nearly misses his own cue to take his place.

Stepping up onto the board, the light that bursts into existence still manages to startle him. He almost immediately feels a heavy weight encompassing his small frame even as his feet leave the ground. A blink, and the light disappears. The weight across his shoulders and the shifting of a great beast beneath him does not.

Glancing down, the boy observes the shining white armor and the regal white steed he now found himself astride with no small amount of childish wonder. This was certainly one way to start learning horsemanship skills. With his newfound height atop his temporary mount, he casts a quick, nervous glance out across the stands of spectators once more. His gaze lingers briefly on the officials attending for the Magical Duma. A familiar face seated nearby manages to catch his eye in time to spy a little thumbs up directed his way. Kolya does his best to offer a subtle thumbs up to George in return, the heavy gauntlets making it a bit of a tricky affair.

Shifting in place, the action now considerably more difficult now that he's all but drowning in heavy armor, the first year’s grip on the lance tightens. He looks across the board, eying the opposing team in black. He only partially listens to the taunts thrown back and forth. Though he may not have as much of an opinion on all of the controversy surrounding the students of the other school just yet, the desire to win was still burning bright beneath the nerves. It was now or never. "We've got this," he mutters nervously beneath his breath, free hand moving to grip the reins.

Even though Opeila's anxiety shrunk by the minute and made way for the more familiar feeling of determination, focus on one set goal that she knew from duelling, it wouldn't stop her mind from wandering, going back to the moment where she found a note, slid under the common room door as she wanted to leave for some breakfast.

Instead she read the note, one hand automatically moving to her neck, underneath the chain of the necklace that was tucked safely under the young Slytherin's top. There it was safe- surely it meant something and until she had found out what, Opeila was not going to lose it. It was the same with the note that she had stored in the same place where she had kept Vladimir's letters all these years. Opeila refused to think more about it, didn't allow herself to dig deep enough into her own motives to find more unhealthy reasons for her attachment to the piece of jewellery.

Only this time, Opeila would make an attempt to respond to the note. Of course there was no way of her to know who had sent the note to her, so instead of hinting at a recipient that might be wrong, she would simply write O. onto it. If the mysterious writer was going to come back, maybe this was a way for communication. If not- well, someone else might have gotten their hands on a note they wouldn't know what to do with. Opeila had spent quite some time to make her writing look as neutral as possible, so even someone who knew her handwriting would need to know it extremely well to connect it with her.
Thank you for your wishes and your gift, I appreciate them both. If you allow, I would like to thank you in person and let you choose the place and time.
The note would be lying on a table, neatly folded.

Alright, maybe not the most creative or intelligent response... in fact she would probably receive backlash from quite a few if they knew that Opeila was trying to meet someone who sent her mysterious jewellery and notes- that meant if they were the same person. That was an assumption Opeila would make for now.

Taking his place on the board, Maksim felt a great pride, he was going to show these Hogwarts children who really was top magical being in this world. As he feet graced the board, he could see the light shimmering, and could feel himself transforming. In a moment he was dressed as his piece, in brilliant white armour. Quite fitting given his skill and brains. Maksim often thought that if he were alive in medieval times he would be a grand knight, no questions asked. Keeping his expression stern as he starred across the board, glancing only briefly to see if a certain girl happened to drop by to watch him win. Not able to see Monet right away, he refocused back on the board, prepared for the game to start.

Howard simply grinned at his teammates as they all prepared for the match ahead. The stress was evident for some as they fretted over the severity of what lie ahead. Others would sort through the nerves by calling out the other team. Howard even offered a wink Percival's way when he saw the Slytherin flip the bird at their opponents. "Atta-boy!" He encouraged the tenacity. They would surely need it for the match. Then some of his teammates seemed to be taking it all in stride. Regardless of how they felt, Howard trusted in the ones he had chosen to stand with him throughout the year. His time on the Quidditch team had shown him that every individual had their own way of prepping, but he knew instinct and skill would guide them through the challenges. Win or lose, they were about to give it their all!

As Howard's feet hit the enchanted board as puff of dark cloud would envelope him as his attire changed and a freakin' chariot popped up about of now where. "Wicked!" He was feeling quite the stud in his black leather armor as he stepped up on his new ride. His crimson eyes would scan his teammates as they too were turned into living chess pieces, all of them looking hella good in their black attire.

Howard damn near forgot all about the tournament and maybe even his own name as he watched his girl Bloom turn into a Knight. Something about the way the dark fabric clung to her threatened to melt his mind. When she looked his way he'd wag his brows at her before mouthing a few special words her way. Maybe they could keep the costumes afterwards...

As hard as it was, he tore his gaze from her looked on to his King and Queen. Howard couldn't even laugh at Peri when he was given a regal dress and crown to boot. Truth be told, he rocked it good! Dee was looking just as strong in her kingly robes. The pair of them were known for their duelling abilities and this royal couple was about to bring the heat! "Let's go!" Howard offered his encouragement to them both before turning his eyes to his other Knight. Opeila and he had come a long way and he hoped she now thought of him kindly the way he thought of her. A thumbs up and a pump of the fist would hopefully get their third duelist ready for action.

Then would come his two great friends, Serena and Alan. Religious garb was not really Howard's thing, but even so he had to admit they both pulled it off. What better pair to stand in as his bishops. His healers, his buffers, not only in this game but in his real life as well. Just being here with all of them in his corner threatened to bring a crimson tear to his eye, but he'd save all the mushy stuff for another time. "That's right, Towers." Howard mimicked Hugh's roar from the stands as he would never usually dress her by her surname. "Listen to the big man, show no mercy! And you mate," he winked at Alan, "Watch my six, will ya?" It was a rhetorical question as he knew his best friend would never leave him hanging.

The moment was upon them as they took to their positions. They would have to be dragged away from the board in defeat or leave with heads held high in triumphant victory! This one was for the half breeds! This one was for all the snakes, eagles, lions and badgers! Come hell or high water, GO HOGWARTS!!

Facing the opponent who defeated him twice was something else, the outfit made everything worse. The all white attire, furry cloak, not forgetting the crown, he was bejeweled but did not make the room shimmered. It made him easier to identify, easier to pick apart. It truly was embarrassing. The good news was that everyone in the room was in the same boat as him. Though some of them appeared to be enjoying the dramatic transformation.

That newspaper girl, who was her name again? Unimportant, was the king of the black team, asking him if he was ready to give up yet. Truthfully, yes. But of course he acted as if he was the bravest king ever existed. “If no, will you write a better article about me in your wholesome school paper?” He then looked at the two people beside him, Ro, and Fyeda. “Goodluck guys”
