Crashed Falcon Finished

Romeo exhaled sharply and followed the recovery steps, gradually reminding his diaphragm how to work its natural flux. Oxygen and control flowing back into his limbs, the boy eased his grip off the seeker as he urged Charles to take Val. Yet, even as Romeo’s hands fell away, Valentin’s devastated frame tried to hold on… futile as it was.

Charles could see that the twice lightning-struck Silver Arrow was no longer skyworthy. Split down the middle, even bearing the weight of one underweight seeker was unfeasible, let alone carrying both of them through the storm. As the blind seeker’s head swam in complete darkness, Val knew he was completely powerless as the burly blonde plucked him away. One long white arm trailed after Romeo as the Brit carried Val away, but the silver seeker couldn’t form a single word with his throat choking on sudden tears.

It was Romeo’s nature to give tough talk when times were bad, and without his eyes Valentin had little way of knowing the true extent of the damage Romeo sustained from their fall. For all Valya knew, at any moment Romeo could fall down and die with those brave words being his last, and there wasn’t a damn thing the broken falcon could do about it. Val couldn’t even remember the last words he said to his mother before the reaper claimed her– another of his own failings he never forgave, and now he couldn’t even eke out a single word to Romeo when this moment could be their last.

Waves of sleepy darkness washed through Valentin again and again, threatening to pull him back under. His body slackening, Valentin wondered if this was how it was as a baby. He couldn’t remember anymore, no longer used to being utterly at the mercy of the world. Now, however, the boy sobbed, muffled under the chorus of raindrops, thinking this must be why babies cried so much. They had no power. Anything they had was given to them, and the only way to protest the forces of the world was to weep… and so Valya’s tears flowed on and on unending as he wracked himself with gasps of salty air.

Naïve Valya couldn’t have stopped the world from snatching away his parents. Just so, knowing that Romeo could just as quickly disappear in this blind darkness, tremors tore through Valya as his insides reverberated with terror. How did everyone just live like mortality was normal and alright? How could everyone just go on so casually when their most beloved could just die in an instant? Anger cried through the seeker’s sobs as he felt the whole situation absurd and pathetic. They all seemed like fish trapped in a barrel at a fair where even the most well-meaning caretaker could kill off their goldfish prize within hours and throw its meager body away with momentary sorrow. How was any of this acceptable? Squirming as Charles carried him away, a scream of pure rage tore from Valentin’s lungs.

«НИКОГДА, Я СКАЗАЛ. НИКОГДА!!» (“NEVER, I SAID. NEVER!!”) cried Valya, writhing. «ТЫ ПРОСТО БЛЯТЬ СМОТРИ! » (“YOU JUST FUCKING WATCH!”)
