"O-Oh, I don't suppose I have told you. My name is Alecksander, but you seem nice, so call me Alecks!" I say excitedly, thinking (and slightly hoping) that I had just made a new friend.
"Um...also, don't worry about being awkward or anything. I can answer any question you ask, just have to ask it!

I Smiled at him and felt more at ease, then remembering that the professor had actually had one more thing for us to do in class, I put down my quill and faced him, "So... I actually do have a question... erm... actually the professor wanted us to talk about this so I may as well... What do you want to learn this year at Hogwarts? or my own question... What is your favorite magical creature! have you seen any yet? " I waited for him to answer while absentmindedly fiddling with my piece of parchment which had a small drawing of a griffon on it.

(OOC: Hey, Aileen Johnson? Are you still here?)James Lachoneus wrote:James took the parchment gratefully.Aileen Johnson wrote: If Aileen had known more students would enter the class late, she would've stayed in her comfortable bed a little while longer. A yawn slipped past her lips while her blue hues shifted through the classroom. It was a mess. Students started talking among each other as soon as the teacher had decided it was time to introduce themselves. She scoffed. What did she want to learn this year? How to avoid taking part of classes like this sounded like a pretty good thing to study. An unfamiliar voice called out to her and she turned her head to see that one of the students who had came in late, had taken a seat next to her. Great. She thought. Now I have to be social too.
"Um, what are we doing right now? Have I missed anything?"
No, worry not young student. You have not missed a thing. Not anything interesting for that matter. "The professor wrote the strangest formula on the black board, something about viciousness and wand power." Her voice devoid of any interest though her eyes curiously observed the student. A Hufflepuff, definitely someone she had not seen before. "I've written it down just in case but..." She shoved her parchment towards him, revealing the formula that had been written on the board earlier surrounded by rather creative doodles of her fellow students. "Not quite sure if you can follow it."
She didn't mean it in a mean way, though perhaps it did come across as such. No, she merely meant that her doodles were literally all over the parchment, even at some parts of the formula. "But apparently right now we're supposed to discuss what we wish to learn this year. So, little Hufflepuff, other than learning how to be on time for class, what do wish to learn?"
"One second..." James prompted. "Let me just write this down real quick."
James kept his head down, hovering over his own parchment, rotating his view between the two different pieces of parchment. He made sure to write it down exactly how he saw it so he wouldn't miss anything.
Once he was done, he set down his writing utensil and turned back to the girl who had helped him.
Handing back her parchment, James thought for a moment.
"Well, I think it's a given, but I want to learn magic. I was raised muggle, so this is all new to me." he admitted.
"I'm James. What's your name?" he asked.

//is this still running?
Cassandra had sprinted through seven hallways, got yelled at by a ghost, and almost pitched faceforeward into a wall. And she was still late.
There was already most of the class present when she barrelled through the doors, and slid into a seat next to a fellow Gryffindor. There was a formula on the board; she copied that down quickly, then turned to the boy next to her.
“Do you have any idea what we’re supposed to be doing?”

First Year Transfiguration
Adohiro Moira had arrived on time and he entered the classroom a little bit too early. He took his seat in the front and was ready to start his Transfiguration class. It interested him a lot, it was better than learning about magical plants. He took the needed book out and looked around, studying the different students in the classroom. It seemed like some arrived late which Adohiro despised people who were tardy. There were so few hours in the day, how could you possibly be tardy? It was just plain rude and it made you seem like the person didn't care about what they were late for. He never wanted to be around tardy people ever. He began to take neat and legible notes in his notebook diligently. He would make sure to remember this formula as it was always important to write down everything the Professor said and wrote. He swore to his eldest brother that he would be top of the Slytherin House and work hard to be a great Wizard. He could not bring shame to his family name at all and he would most likely be disowned by his family for bringing shame to his family.

Hestia rushed into class. She wasn't late or anything, she just didn't want to be the last one there. Luckily, it looked like a few students were late. She took a seat at an empty desk and glanced around the classroom, wondering what on earth this class would be like. Her dad had told her a little bit about all of her classes, but apparently Transfiguration was one of his worst subjects. Her mum couldn't help of course, being a muggle and all. So, she sat and waited patiently for instructions. She half hoped someone would come sit next to her, someone nice she could talk to about homework and stuff. At the same time however, she kind of hoped everyone would leave her alone so she didn't have to deal with people bullying her again. She fidgeted in her seat, her hands fiddling with her wand and her leg bouncing up and down. She was nervous of course, this was her first class of her first year in her first wizarding school, so she didn't want to mess up in the slightest. She glanced around at the students around her, wondering if any of them were friends already. She examined each of them with curiosity and decided they all seemed nice.

I'm the annoying one.
Extremely.
She pulled out a blue pen from her robes, pulling her sleeve up to reveal her tan arm that was already scribbled on. She started drawing some more, glancing up at him.

@Hestia: I'm sorry I didn't see your reply to Transfig. sooner yesterday! I just saw it come up now for some reason.
It was a relief to find himself actually on time today, there wasn't a need for him to be rushed or panicked. He was actually a little more orderly now with some semblance of academic discipline. Yet it still didn't dispel his streak of tardy behavior by any stretch. He didn't dare make a big fuss over it when he got there, which was concerning at how normal such a behavior felt. No word came from the Hufflepuff as he made his way to the closest seat, the Professor seemed to be currently speaking right now.
The seat looked like it was currently occupied by a red haired girl, hopefully she didn't mind too much. He could possibly move later if she did. Much of what was being said seemed to be about the theoretical properties of Transfiguration, something he seemed to take interest to. As he sat down, he gave the girl a small silent wave to greet her - not wishing to speak while the instructor was talking.
He knew better and he wanted to focus on getting whatever he could down on quill and paper till he forgot. Maybe once the professor was done speaking, he'll properly greet the student who let him sit here. Possibly let him sit there.

Hestia glanced over when another boy sat down next to her. She was surprised to say the least, she didn't actually think anyone would sit next to her. She blinked at him a couple times before silently waving back, a small smile on her face. He seemed to get right to taking notes, so she did the same, pulling out her quill, the feather already ruffled from sitting in the pocket of her robes. She was only half paying attention to the professor' lesson, her mind trying to figure out why on earth someone would sit next to her. She glanced over at the boy sitting there a couple times, trying to make her examination of him as unnoticeable as possible. She examined him, his robes, his hair, everything, trying to get a read on who exactly he was. She herself wore wrinkled robes, a messy Ravenclaw tie, and messy hair. A single clip tried to manage the disorder of her hair, only barely succeeding in keeping the red mop out of her face. Once she had examined the boy- the only thing she really took note of was that he was in Hufflepuff- she looked back down at her notes, most of her writing being barely legible. With a sigh she tried paying more attention to the professor so she could take better notes and maybe actually pass this class.

Dymphna was, as usual, early for class and sitting in the front row. It wasn't as if she was ignoring the other students but simply trying her best to focus on the lesson. Transfiguration was actually something she wasn't the best at. Perhaps average and that was something she wanted to change. She felt the need for her marks to be the absolute best they could be -- anything less than Exceeds Expectations was unacceptable.
She pulled out a fresh sheet of parchment, set up her ink and started writing notes quickly. It was important to process the Professors words but she wanted to write it all down too, to make sure that she had information to study later on. Her book open in front of her just in case, she continued writing her notes from the lecture.

Oh no! A group discussion already? She glanced around for anyone that she knew first, noting a familiar face who seemed to have paired up already. Hm, someone new then? Perhaps they would approach her. The classroom was crowded and many students seemed to be paired already.Transformation, Switching, Vanishment, Conjuration, and Untransfiguration.

Reid could kind of feel the glances the girl had beside him, was she trying to tell him something? Perhaps someone truly already claimed this spot before he did. He grew some confidence and didn't budge. Maybe there was something on his face, his hair? His hand came up to brush his face slightly to check; nothing out of the ordinary. Reid had seen Dymphna and gave her the tiniest of waves with his fixated hand. He glanced at the board, seeing as a formula seems to have been written:
He pulled out his reading glasses and slowly flipped through the pages, writing the formula with quick succession. His writing was fast and undoubtedly messy, it was a counterpart to Dymph's handwriting. Yet it worked for him, many of his notes were shorthanded and often a little hard to decipher. He was very interested in Transfiguration, especially with what he's seen in the book so far.
The mention of group discussion had him trying to quickly finish his notes. But he finally finished and set his quill down, listening to the instructions that the Professor had for them. It seemed to be a discussion about the dangers of Transfiguration on animals - and people. Could he transform himself? He thought he heard the mention of that somewhere. It certainly interested him.
