Silence is Golden.....Sometimes Finished

Kyden wouldn't have minded being left alone. Matter of fact he loved spending time alone. He had been doing that since he was a young kid. It was his normal. Actually most of the time he struggled to relate to people his age. It was weird but that is just how it was.

"Well judging by the sky we will have to head in for dinner soon and then of course curfew. I mean that is something that should not be broken. Anyways...."He trailed off. He had run out of things to say.

Kyden always did one of two things when he was nervous. He either rambled on like an idiot or he just stopped talking like a bigger idiot. Apparently today he was going for bigger idiot. He just shrugged and then smiled. He looked back out towards the like and sighed. Apparently the Squid was noticing that it was getting darker and getting ready to settle down for the night. He wasn't as active as he was before and only one or two tentacles could be seen. Kyden had hoped that he would be able to see a Mer-person today but none even so much as poked a head above the water.

Verla tried to seem kind and make them both comfortable. "I could get away with skipping curfew, of course if I went into the woods, I'd probably die, slowly, and alone, in the dark, in the cold." Verla stared at the lake, then shook her head and smiled. Being crazy and not wanting people to be alone was her normal, although she understood that some people just needed some space. She walked over to the dock and laid on her belly and looked into the water. She kept her legs up as she peered in, seeing the fish and mer-people swimming around. One of them came up to her, just peered at her curiously. Verla just smiled and waved at her. She wondered if it was against the rules to interact with them. The mermaid looked at Kyden and winked, then went back in the water, flipping her tail up as she went further under the water. Then Verla played around with some tadpols, they were so cute and creepy at the same time under a microscope. 

Verla hoped Kyden would join her, she wanted to get to know him. He seemed kind and harmless enough, plus, he'd keep her out of trouble.

Kyden spotted the mermaid. He smiled happy that he had seen it. He knew it was getting close to the time the time that he should head back to the castle. Being a Prefect meant not breaking the rules and making sure others didn't break the rules either. He smiled at Verla and sighed. 

"Well as much as I would love to spend more time out here it really is time I should be getting back to the castle. I have some Prefecting I need to do before heading to the common room. You all should plan on heading back soon also. I would hate to have to give my new friends detention." He smiled at them.

He had really had fun hanging out outside today. He was glad he made himself take just one day to spend outside after all if he hadn't done that he wouldn't have met all of them. He really planned on getting to know Verla. She seemed like an interesting person. He also planned on spending another day outside down by the Great Lake very soon. This time he would remember his sketch pad so he could sketch the Giant Squid and if he was lucky maybe he would even get the chance to sketch a mermaid as well. One could only hope.

Kyden waves to the girls and walks away heading back towards the castle.
