Adelaide took a deep breath, attempting to extinguish the anger that had lit up inside of her like a forest fire, "Right, sorry about the language, but how else am I meant to express my feelings? The cupcakes have been laced with Amortentia! In a school full of children! That's just wrong, and to say I'm angry about that would quite frankly be an understatement!"

As Marius screamed at her accusation, Adelaide couldn't help but shout back, "I don't know another Marius! You're the only Marius I know!" His suggestion of writing something on a separate parchment was a good idea, Adelaide had to admit, but since she was so angry and done with tonight, she didn't have the energy to agree to it. "No, it doesn't even matter, whether it was or was not from you, I don't care," she grabbed the letter back and made a dramatic show of ripping it into multiple tiny pieces, the ripped parchment falling to the ground like tiny abstract snowflakes.

This night had went in a completely different direction than Adelaide had been expecting it to go, and she was quite frankly fed up. She wasn't a huge fan of social events in general, but she had originally thought an innocent Valentine's Tea Party couldn't go wrong. Oh, how she was horribly, horribly wrong. She pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration, closing her eyes for a few seconds to gather her thoughts. Finally, she came to a decision, something she probably should've done ages ago. "You know what, I'm leaving," she said, "it was nice meeting you Eliza," then she turned her gaze to Marius, she had liked the boy when they had first met, but now she was not so sure, so she said nothing.

The Ravenclaw gave a final nod to Eliza and Marius, and a tight-lipped smile to Lillian - who had not spoken since she arrived, and quite frankly Adelaide couldn't blame her - then she turned on her heel and left the ballroom.

"If you don't care then perhaps you shouldn't have brought it to our attention then!" said Marius hotly. Normally a friendly individual, the boy had a bad tendency to burst into anger when being contradicted, particularly if it further resulted in him being viewed as the wrong party.

His usually soft brown eyes were no longer gentle; instead, they were now flames. His hands were tempted to reach for a cup and smashed it onto the floor - not onto the table so as not to injure anyone around - but his brain managed to stop them. There would be no use in doing so, even if the cup could easily be repaired with a simple spell by a professor; on the contrary, that kind of movement was rough and it would reflect on him as a cruel and rather uncivilised person. "Even if you've been wronged," the Hufflepuff felt as if his dad's voice was there and not only in his mind, "you don't need to be in the wrong together with the culprit."

The tea party that Marius had once imagined to be a fun gathering where he could meet potential friends was now awry, so there was no use to stay any longer. None of the people he saw today was interested in being friendly to him, and on the other hand most of them had thrown insane accusation at him for something he had not done. Thus, he did not bother to look at them, nor to bid them a polite farewell, as he stood up and left the ballroom.

Having eyes, but not seeing beauty; having ears, but not hearing music; having minds, but not perceiving truth; having hearts that are never moved and therefore never set on fire - these are the things to fear.
