You Can't Buy Them All

Ashton went on to explain his experience in the magical world — close to nothing. Looks like they were all stuck in the same damp, sinking boat drifting in River Confusion. He had only been told two days ago, which wasn't very long ago. Cassidy couldn't imagine only talking two days to process th whole situation, it had taken her a few weeks before she even dared to venture out into the menacing Wizarding World.
He babbled on about thrillers and horrors (much like her own taste) as if he hadn't just mentioned he wasn't very invested in reading. How odd. To be honest, Cassidy often told a few fibs about herself with others, not even to look good. Just to make things easier, if she had to describe her habit of not always being so upfront. She was going to ask if he had read her favourites if a deep male voice called his name over the quiet chatter and turning of parchment. He must know Ashton because he gave a quick goodbye and a small wave with his hand before hurrying away. Cassidy lifted her hand in return and Della waved back out of the corner of her eye, but he probably hadn't seen it. He was gone, at least until Hogwarts came around.
“Well, he was... Interesting,” Della turned back to her to restart the conversation, which Cassidy replied to with a short shrug of the shoulders.
The pale-headed girl cast a quick glance at the history book in her grip as she told Cassidy she might give it a try. To be honest, catching up on what happened in the past few centuries wouldn't be a bad idea.
“If you see me around school, and you read anything good, let me know, okay?” Della spoke with a smile playing on her lips.
Cassidy nodded again with a grin. She hoped she did see Della around, maybe they could be friends — it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a few buddies before everybody forms their little huddles. She didn't seem like a terrible person either, that's always a bonus.
“I hope I see you around then! Maybe we'll be in the same house or something,” she shrugged again. It was sort of her signature thing now.
As Della began to bring the conversation to a close and peek around for her mum, Cassidy decided she should do the same. She might have left her mum waiting outside.
“I should go find my mum too. Hope I see you around, good luck with those books!” The blonde held her hand up for a second as a goodbye as she retreated from the store of magical books and enchanted stacks, back into the noisy cobbled pathway in search of her mum.
