2021, Stage 3 Group E: Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff Finished

Willow was doing, as the kids say, her absolute best. Turns out her best wasn't super stellar today. As she attempted to cast the knockback jinx at Galton her spell went winky wonky and the spell went directly towards her partner. "Wah!" Luckily this didn't phase him as he hit Galton straight on, still she felt bad. "Sorry Kazuo! Nice hit!"

For now, Galton would find himself succumbing to the effects of the curse that was referenced so disgustingly as a slime smoothie. A knee would have been taken or a full lay about on the floor as the fog overtook his brain. The smooth cold floor did look like an inviting place to nap; just five more minutes, please.

Galton’s terrible misfortune would not stop the vicious Hufflepuffs as they both levied their wands at the incapacitated boy. Kazuo, however, would feel strange as he tried to cast. The words came out right, and the wand movement did not seem off, yet his wand failed to act. It would be cruel teasing him for a moment as embers started to ignite at the tip of his wand before fading into nothing as the spell crackled out.

Willow would not have the same misfortune as her partner. Her cast was nice, and her aim better sending a brilliant blue light across the field crashing into Galton, but it would not be enough to incapacitate him again.

Meenauh, however, was willing to serve Willow a dish of bad luck and did so cold. Winds whipped from her wand and surrounded Willow with their almost deafening howls. For now, it seemed as if they were there to stay playing with her hair and putting knots into it like a kid sister who just wanted to ‘braid’ it.

Spectator Thread: Afternoon Slot, Group E: Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff

Despite Willow's previous round of a misfire towards her partner, this rounds spell seemed to go off much smoother. "Flipendo!" Was bellowed with a confident gusto only a 13 year old could have for something she had just previously failed. The spell hit Galton straight in the chest, but he was still up and fighting though he was starting to look worse for wear.

Willow was not safe from spells however, even though many of the lion's had failed thus far. Meenauh sent a powerful whirlwind of a Wind Jinx her way. The wind whipped around Willow's loose short hair which was now a definite mistake. She could feel the tangles and the time it would take to brush them out forming. It kind of reminded her of Gale from Frozen Two. Goodness she loved that movie. Maybe she could make friends with it like Anna and Elsa did? No that was foolish. She had to refocus! This wind wouldn't last forever, right?

Kazuo watched with no small amount of delight as Galton seemed momentarily overcome by the rivers of snot that he had been inflicted with, more than willing to take advantage of his misfortune. He and Willow launched their attacks together at the snotty boy and while Willow’s flew true, Kazuo’s wand produced nothing but a few sparks. He frowned at the failure; he had been doing so well, to have his spell simply fizzle was more than a bit frustrating. He wasn’t even sure what had gone wrong. He was sure he’d done the right movements and his pronunciation had sounded correct. His lips turned downward in a slight pout then he shook his head, refocusing. No time to worry, there was still a duel to be fought!

This curse had his head under lock and key. It was hard enough to get a breath out now that it was all he could focus on. Forget the duel, let's just breathe for a second. One knee went down, followed by the other. Then his hands felt for the ground. Just breathe, it's not hard. Use your mouth, your nose, even your ears - just get some air in. The prone child could feel the mucus layer blocking him from breathing flex with ever desperate breathe he made.

And then boom, cough, ack. The mucus ball projected itself from his throat to his mouth and out. Onto the floor, onto his lips, his chin. But, he could breathe... For a second.

Flipendo - the reminder that he was in the duel. He could taste the iron of blood from that hit, his small body now quite a bit worse for wear. He just felt angry. As cool and collected as Galton the Glorious should be, flipendos were unnerving.

He heard his partner call to him, snap him back to reality once again. Duel, just duel. Just think about the duel.

"Mmm... hi- umm I- cast?" was all he could muster. At least he could breathe again.

It was clear that Hufflepuff wanted Galton out of the game; his ability to sling spells at both of his opponents at a single time was a severe advantage. Willow and Kazuo targeted him once more, casting out Flipendo together. Maybe because of the windstorm surrounding her, Willow’s spell was cast slightly less than average; maybe her wand could not hear her over the gale surrounding her. Her aim, however, was still spot on. Galton was just faster as he almost effortlessly dodged her incoming spell.

Recovering from CoB was no picnic, and it seemed like Galton had used all his evasive skills dodging Willow, allowing for Kazuo to hit him with a particularly well-cast attack right in the gut. Thankfully for the Hufflepuff, his wand was happy and willing to cooperate with him once more. That would be the end of his luck for now, though.

Meenuah, not willing to squander the opportunity of her opponent trapped in a large gust of wind, sent her own Flipendo sailing across the arena. Poor Willow would not stand a chance as the blue light cut through the wind slamming her in the chest knocking the wind out of her.

Galton was also an opportunistic fellow as two black cloths sailed through the air. One wrapped itself tightly around Kazuo’s eyes, and the other found Willow just as Ventus had decided it was finished creating a tangled masterpiece out of her hair. The only thing that made being a duellist worse was not being able to cast or see what was coming at you. Unfortunately, for Willow and Kazuo, darkness was all they would see going into the next round.

Flashes, flashes everywhere. In the short round of spell fire there had been three uses of flipendo. It seemed to be the a favorite. It packed a mean punch, and they taught it to you early. They taught everyone here that horrible putrid spell to hurl at him. The anger he had tried to calm came right back to him when he was once again struck by a flipendo. And he started to smell candy... it must have been the flipendo knocking something loose.

"No more boogi-" his voice cut out as he grunted to reposition himself. "It doesn't feel beneficial." He tried his best to wink, even if he really looking at his partner.

Whatever fit his wand had decided to throw with the last spell, thankfully it didn't last. Refocusing, continuing the offensive, he shot off a solid Knockback Jinx in sync with his partner, both of them at Galton. The slippery lion couldn't possibly dodge both! He managed to escape Willow's attack but Kazuo's landed solidly and he grinned. His grin didn't last long as Galton's spell split and he was trying to dodge. Much to his misfortune, he found himself in sudden darkness as a blindfold wrapped itself around his eyes. "Ah… kuso!" He exclaimed in irritation.
