Three rounds into the duel, and Robert had only used one spell. It was getting a bit repetitive to keep throwing Knockback Jinxes at Everly, only to have her dodge them, but as they say, practice makes perfect. This time, something clicked during his casting, and the first year could feel his spell growing into something much stronger than normal. Robert breathed out in exhilaration as he watched it barrel with extra force toward the target, hitting straight on and knocking her over. He'd never been very into sports before joining the dueling team, but he imagined this is what it felt like to hit a home run in baseball, or catch the Golden Snitch in quidditch. The sight of Del's matching spell colliding with their opponent's body at almost the same time just added to the rush.
His excitement was considerably dampened when he remembered the defining characteristic of dueling that make it stand apart from sports like baseball or quidditch, that any success from one team results in physical pain for the other. "Sorry about that!" he called out, the grin still on his face probably making the apology seem less sincere than it actually was. Everly's responding spell struck him in the shoulder, causing him to stumble back, but not doing nearly as much damage as they'd caused her. "Yeah, I guess I deserve that," he said with a small chuckle.

Santario had been at the ready to stop the duel and call in the medics to follow behind her, but it would appear that she would not need to move in the slightest yet. Her arms crossed over her chest as she watched Everly not only get up but somehow still manage to get out of the way of a Flipendo and a Tarantallegra. The number of times that this girl had seamlessly dodged seemed, ironically, magical. This would be noted and passed on to the team for future duels.
However, Everly’s luck for dodging had not been fully passed on to Ravenclaw as Jackson cast the ever wicked Curse of the Bogies at Robert. Instead of smashing Robert square on, it would hit him in the shoulder, as the boy just barely failed to dodge the incoming attack. At first, Robert would notice the tell tail tightening in his chest, the fog slowly creeping into his head, and the relatively slower than average congestion of his face. Anyone who had seen Curse of the Bogies work before would know that this was not setting on as rampant as it typically did. Santario squinted her eyes observing Robert fascinated by the fact that it didn't seem to overtake him the way it did others. As someone quite interested in healing magic she wanted to talk to him at a later date to question his delayed symptoms.

@Everly Charlton
Two spell exchanges ago, Everly’s unimaginable surge of dexterity had been obscured by a thick layer of Fumos. But now, Valentine saw clear as day what could have been no miraculous coincidence.
Bridget had taught him that aim and evasion were simply a game of the mind, in which the one aiming had to anticipate where their opponent would be by the time they finished their wand movement. She had taught him to look for clues, eye gestures, a shift of weight, movements that would give away the intention of the actor and allow one to prepare a stronger counter. More importantly, he had taught himself to reverse these principles to throw off others who intended to apply them.
What Everly had achieved, however, was no feat of prediction. Except maybe Santario, Valentine was the only one there who knew his partner was a seer, one with the ability to occasionally glimpse into the future. It was as if she knew what was going to happen, and performed a seemingly impossible series of sidesteps, all while getting up from a prone position. It almost made his jaw drop then and there, the staggering potential of far sight and the tremendous gift she possessed. For a moment, he believed their little stint to be over. But this stroke of pure chance was a godsend, and they weren’t just going to let it go to waste.
“On your feet, Charlton!” he barked, filling the dueling court with his reinvigorated spirit. “It’s not over yet!”

#b76e79She was alive?
She was alive!
The joy spreading through her body was unmistakable as the girl managed to regain her stance on the duelling stage successfully without getting hit that round. The spells shot towards her again, and she dodged, breathing heavily as she gripped her wand, shaking her head to get her vision straight. A smile on her face as she noted that her partner had succeeded, still untouched. With a breath to ready herself, she prepared for the next round.
This could turn out very badly, or in their favor.ACTION: doing as strategized

Unfortunately, Robert's aim did not last for long. Firing off a fourth Knockback Jinx, he stared in disbelief as Everly somehow managed to both stand up from her position on the ground and effortlessly dodge both spells targeting her. It looked like she was only a single hit away from passing out, but that wasn't much help if it was impossible to connect with her.
As he was distracted by this latest update in Everly's seemingly impossible acts of evasion, he felt another spell hit him in the exact same place the jinx from the previous round had, on his shoulder. This one felt much different though, almost as if his body absorbed the curse instead of being thrown back by its force. Robert started to feel a tightening in his chest and a clogging of his nose, helping him recognize the spell as a Curse of the Bogies. The Eagle couldn't recall it being used in his first duel, but had seen it used in others enough times to know how harmful it can be. Interestingly, the effects seemed to be spreading slower than normal, maybe because the spell had only clipped him instead of hitting full on. Whatever the reason, Robert was thankful. Trying to ignore the sudden urge to blow his nose, the boy focused on his next move.

@Robert Toukmond @Everly Charlton @Jackson ValentineWait..what? She missed? again? The Gryffindor had managed to dodge both of their spells? Of course she still felt bad for the poor lass, but jesus, almost out of the duel and she manages to dodge two spells at once?
Delilah was left unscathed, but the same could not be said for Robert beside her, him getting hit by the annoying Curse of the bogies, although that wasn't the end of the world.

At the start of this round, Everly and Robert did not even bother trying to cast spells, which inadvertently helped Everly more than she would realize right away.
Jackson would once again perform Curse of the Bogies, but Delilah would have none of being made into a snotting mess in front of everyone. No, in fact, she decided to instead blind everyone. It was clear, at least to Santario, that Delilah was losing patience with this duel. As soon as Delilah enunciated the “Max-“ in maxima, Santario shielded her eyes with her arm. Once the spell was completed, she would look back over the field. Unfortunately for Jackson, he would be the only one affected by the older Ravenclaw’s attack.

Light shined through the gaps between his fingers as he tried futility to block the attack with his hand.
It blinded him in a fashion that had him feeling a burst of anger through his psyche. His eyes flickered with intent to regain their senses, glossing over a white void and then down at his feet, attempting to ascertain just how badly he was affected. All the while, he felt the presence of a pair of hungry birds looming over him as though they were predators to Man, as though it was their natural place in the order of life.
Well, Valentine was a predator too. Though he couldn't see, there were audio cues that gave away the movements and intentions of those seeking to upend him.

After another pair of misses from the Ravenclaw team the previous round, Robert realized there had to be a smarter way to finish this duel than to keep shooting off spells and hoping something hits. Glancing over at Delilah, a silent understanding passed through the partners as she came to the same conclusion as him. Robert shielded his eyes just in time to avoid being blinded by the light produced by his partner's wand. The boy was still able to see the bright flash, even through his lowered eyelids and raised arm, but it was nothing he couldn't quickly blink away.
After the light had dissipated and he was able to look around again, he was surprised to see that Everly also didn't seem affected by his teammate's spell. However, he couldn't tell if she had avoided it through skill or just plain luck. At least Jackson looked like he was having trouble with his vision, giving Robert the grim satisfaction of finally starting to inch closer to the end of this dragged-out duel. He loved the sport, but the Gryffindors seemed to be spending more time dodging than casting, causing round after round to pass with nothing interesting happening. Even if the young Eagle had only been conscious for approximately ten seconds of his first duel, at least those ten seconds were filled with action!
