Opeila seemed to be in high spirits, which consequent raised Flash's as well. Somehow, it really was like it had been before. Perhaps the world wasn't ending, perhaps they still had time to do things that weren't entirely productive. Of course he could be studying, or writing up some notes that he had meant to jot down all evening, but he let it go. Adlai told him he needed to get his head out of the books sometimes, and it was working. He almost dreaded to think of returning to the daily slog, but he didn't even let that worry creep in either. He would focus of Opeila's smile.

Watching the chocolate brooms flying around, and the gathering of students around who were attempting to nab something from the snitch jar, Flash smiled in mild amusement. Of all the subjects in school, Flying really seemed to be the most devisive. Childern came to Hogwarts from all walks of life, so some children had never even seen a flying broom before their first Flying class. Others, like Flash, had been flying all their lives. Not that he considered himself an expert, but it was extremely familiar, no different than riding a horse. No... wait... naturally, some children also didn't ride horses... In fact, there was a phrase he heard used about riding a bicycle, but... actually, he didn't know how to ride one himself. There was pretty much no situation where a bike was better than a broom, at least on his isolated estate where there were no Muggles for miles and miles.

Flash, a bit shamefully, watched Opeila hop around for the broom uselessly, making little grabby hands that were always just a little bit off. Easily able to conceal his childish smile behind his low-effort sheet ghost costume, he walked forward to claim one of the chocolate brooms ot of the air. Maybe it was his height that worked to his advantage this time, but he would have like to think he had some practiced hand-eye-coordonation as well.

"Here you are, I don't need any more treats myself."

Marshal's brow creased in response to Leonard's comment about the Gryffindor's costume, as if he truly found the idea of dressing up as a dragon absurd.
"Come on, Leo," he said incredulously. "Don't be ridiculous. Everyone knows that a dragon tamer can't dress up as a dragon. It's like... blasphemous or something."
In reality, the option of wearing a dragon costume had been his first thought when pondering the various possibilities for Halloween attire, but it had seemed too obvious somehow. It was much more entertaining to defy expectations and, if he was lucky, confuse a few people here and there. In fact, his personality ensured that he was quite good at doing just that.

He eyed the french hat hesitantly as it was pointed threateningly at his beautiful beard, attempting to size up just how comparable it would be to a rock if it were heaved toward his mouth without abandon.
After a moment of uncertainty, he decided to place his bet that Leo could never be driven to violence against his lovable lion friend. It would be rather dreadful if he was proven wrong, for he was betting teeth instead of money, and his charming smile was a very important aspect in his attempts to "woo the womenfolk."
"Aww, you're just cranky because my hat is pointier than yours." Once again, he mimicked the way an elderly wizard might speak, his voice wavering as he patted Leonard on the back. "Don't worry, dear boy, we'll turn you into a proper wizard yet, and you can earn a hat nearly as glorious as mine."

He watched as Leo approached the flying candies, entirely curious at how the scenario might unfold. No disrespect was meant toward the snake, but Leo didn't exactly strike Marshal as the most physically coordinated person in the wide world. Mental coordination was a different matter altogether, of course, as anyone with half a brain could see that Leonard had a head crammed full of information from far too many books. But his prowess at sweet snatching was yet to be seen.

To Marshal's relief, his friend managed to catch a small broom upon his first attempt, and refrained from introducing his face to the hard stone underfoot, no less. There would be no need to scrape a snake off the floor just yet.
The leap wasn't the most graceful or awe-inspiring sight ever to meet the first-year's eyes, but it got the job done, and that was a fact that even the most dubious of skeptics couldn't deny.

"Well done," he praised as Leonard returned to him, clapping one hand against the side of his staff. "I knew that mustache wouldn't let you down. Facial hair grants power, you know. Believe me, I have experience." He stroked his fake beard knowingly.

Upon hearing his friend's claim that Merlin had been a Slytherin and that he should be ashamed of himself, Marshal remained undeterred.
"Oh, what a coincidence! I know a certain mustached artist that came from that same house. Poor fellow, he hates his own name and has no sense of humor. A tragic individual, really." He shrugged his shoulders, then whipped around without warning and marched out the door, throwing one finger high in the air while the other hand guided his staff. The click of wood meeting stone accompanied each departing step. "Come along, Leonardo! It's time we tasted the moon."

"Yes, well, some would say it's more blasphemous to dress as a historical figure that some worship, but to each their own," he interjected before heading off to grab one of the hovering treats. Really, how had their friendship remained intact longer than his mother's ridiculously expensive scarf?

The other's comment about his floppy headwear only furthered the question. He'd known Marshal's brain worked in strange ways never seen before on any other than a headless chicken, but that was no excuse to point out the inane outfit he was wearing, especially in comparison to the lion's own. The snake took a mental note to thank his father for not sending a hand-knitted rendition of a tree he'd needed for his kindergarten play. While the garments he was presently in were utterly ruining his presence as a collected, cunning Slytherin with the unwashed tunic and all, the other option was considerably worse.

After achieving his goal with thankfully no need to head to the Hospital Wing (although with the presence of the other boy, that could change at any moment), he rolled his eyes at the knockoff Merlin talking about how facial hair somehow enhanced one's abilities. Leonard was pretty sure it was just because of his recently found information about trees and climbing them, courtesy of his father and his threats of actually sending a hollow oak tree for dressing-up.

"Marshal, I'm fairly sure you have experience in just about nothing. Nothing to do with grooming at least," he pointed the hat once again at the other's rapidly falling beard, with a growing intention to actually slap it. With little pain inflicted, of course. After all, he needed someone to keep him spontaneous enough for his parents, even if said spontaneous behaviour resulted in unfavourable outcomes and unfavourable burns in unfavourable places.

"So, we're just heading to the Astronomy Tower? As in, right now? With all those people there to judge me. And you. To judge us. You know I wasn't kidding when I said Merlin Dormitory's going to be more than a little mad, right?" He said, though Marshal was already out the door by the time he'd regained the ability to say something other than an indignant what. "And, the moon isn't a planet, mate, I thought you'd know that."

After receiving no reply and catching the eye of a particularly scary ghost costume he wasn't sure was a costume, he decided to follow after the other. Hopefully his fellow Slytherins wouldn't let him get caught in the crossfire once they saw the Gryffindor's costume.

"Fine, coming," he muttered to nobody, running after the blue robes.

Rose grinned when Aldor caught a chocolate broom, glad he was so determined. "Nice job!" Even though it was hard for Rose to do it in heels, it must have been much much harder to do it with that big costume. Henry Knight then approached her, dressed appropriately- as a knight.

She had met Henry a few times, including just a few days ago when they were both having an off day because of problems at home. He had at least given her a couple smiles that day, and she overall saw him as a pretty good person. Of course, all people were complicated, but overall, she was sure he was pretty good.

"Hey, Henry. Your costume is very fitting. It's going pretty well, thanks. You?" Aldor hid behind her, his hands on her arm gently. She let one hand rest on his hands on her arm, acknowledging that he was there and reassuring him it was okay for him to be there. She was glad that Aldor trusted her enough to hide behind her, but was also slightly suspicious of Henry and why Aldor was hiding behind her because of him. Yeah, she was protective over Aldor.

She looked down at Aldor's face as he pulled up his helmet to reveal his face to Henry. Aldor stammered something about how they knew each other. "Yeah, we're in some classes together," she murmured gently.

"We're on our way to the movie now," Rose said, breaking up the awkwardness and hopefully Aldor's fear. "Would you maybe like to come with us?" This was more her being polite. She honestly hoped that Henry had somewhere else to go before going to the ballroom for the movie, not because she didn't like Henry, but because Aldor wasn't too comfortable around Henry for reasons unknown to Rose.

Henry was a bit uncomfortable when Rose mentioned his costume, probably because it did sort of match his surname. Henry gave a small smile toward her before saying " uh yeah, Miranda and I decided to dress as matching costumes so I'm lancelot and she's guinevere," Henry didn't much enjoy talking about himself so he spoke toward Aldor, " I like your costume Al, a dragon right? I have a few books on them if your interested I could give them to you one of these day's" hearing his question Henry then heard Rose beat him to the answer and it was basically that.

" Yeah we have a few classes together among other things," other things speaking of times they got detention together for something that was not their fault. Henry sort of knew Rose didn't know how he was feeling since she pushed his helmet up, a shield from the world to hide yourself something he did himself plenty of times with his hair.

Henry the turned back to Aldor as he spoke " I been meaning to tell you sooner Al, but my friend and I meet at the oak by the black lake every Saturday to read or practice duelling if you ever want to join us," Henry then laughed a bit as he remembered meeting Logan there before continuing " we usually meet there in the morning then after get a butterbeer if you ever care to join us Al," Henry shot a small smile toward his friend and figured not to appear rude he should say something to Rose so he did, " same invite to you as well Rose, as long as you don't hold a grudge since my friend; Logan was the one who duel you in the match."

Henry then turned to Aldor before speaking again " it was good seeing you Al and I'll catch up with you in the library later," he then moved a bit closer to Aldor as he whispered so only Aldor could you hear him, " there's this spot I want to show you at the library where you can hide away and have a few moments of peace."

Henry then backed up and smiled at Aldor as he heard Rose's question, Henry turned to her before saying " Miranda and I were heading there right now maybe we'll see you two there," he have Rose a smile before speaking to Aldor " see ya later Al, uh you to Rose," Henry then walked back with Miranda and after a few minutes he spoke " ready to head to the great hall? What do you think this movie party is?"

Aldor listened to Henry talk, he thought the slytherin wizard was quite kind, and liked him a lot, but couldn't help but feel unsure of what to do, then, Henry offered him a few books, something that Aldor could only answer with a silent 'mhm' and nodding.

Then, both of his friends answered wether they knew each other, he seemed to be fine with it. He would listen to Henry while he explained and invited him to join them at the lake, Aldor would normally accept, specially because of the books, but this time, he thought about it twice.

''I will think about it- M-aybe if I have time one of these days-''

Aldor would lean his head towards Rose's arm, almost resting on her. Henry then mentioned catching him up at the library later, funny enough, Aldor has not stayed in the library as much as he used to, someone told him that he should use his time better, and live his life, he had done that, on his own, of course, but he has done his best to get some sunlight every once in a while.

After Henry offered him to show him somewhere he could read on his own, Aldor simply nodded, then, his friend went away with his companion. Aldor couldn't help but let out a quiet sigh, as he looked back at Rose with a nervous smile.

''I uh- met Henry at the lake but- I can't recall when we- We talked a bit, but I never managed to feel calm around him- he is very kind, a bit too much i'd say, he- seems to understand how I feel and- that makes me feel really- powerless, I don't like it when people understand my flaws and run around me doing their best to help me because they experienced something similar- So, I had a panic attack- the day we met, I felt very vulnerable-''

Aldor would lower his helmet, trying to concentrate.

''He is great but- I don't understand why I don't feel as comfortable around him, unlike your case in which- well- I don't really mind if you are close to me, in fact it- makes me feel safe-''

He would simply sigh once more, as he remained close to Rose.

''We should get going too-''

Wren knew she should feel more excited. It was halloween, after all. But something just didn't feel right to her. Everyone was dressing up for the event. They were talking with friends, having fun. They moved from classroom to classroom, collecting their candy before they went to the ballroom to watch the movie. But still, something felt kind of off. Oh whatever. Tonight is supposed to be fun. She had been wondering for weeks about what she would dress up as. There were so many options, and it had taken her forever to decide on one. This will be so much fun! I haven't been a werewolf before. She thought as she walked down the hallway to the first classroom. When she and her brother were younger, they used to go trick or treating together every time. Each time they wore a different costume, and after a couple years the tradition had stuck.

Running out of the hallway and jumping down the stairs, she stepped out of the giant metal doors and into the cool, night air of the grounds. It was chilly outside, with a gentle breeze and without a cloud in the sky. Everything was dark and drowned in shadows, giving off the classic eerie feeling of halloween. She could see other people in the distance, in costume and most definitely heading to one of the classrooms. Deciding to follow, Wren walked quietly by herself, relishing the chilly night.

It wasn't long before they reached the flying area. She quickly dodged out of the way as something swung by her. She squinted into the dark sky, trying to make out the object that had flown by. Wren jumped into the sky, reaching for one of the objects, as she suddenly remembered what they were. They were candy broomsticks, and they had to catch one to get it. She jumped up again as another object flew by. She could feel her fingertips brush the edge, but it was just out of her reach. She watched carefully as another one came by. Seeing her chance, she jumped high into the air and felt her fingers wrap around it. She pulled it back down to the ground, and it instantly stopped trying to fly away. Smiling to herself, she placed it in her bag and headed in the direction of the next classroom.

Damion was in the Flying classroom. He was going to get some candy. He wished that he was back at home with Dyllie but well this wasn't that bad, now was it. He looked around the room wearing his Olaf outfit, he crept into the room. He wasn't going to be mischievous but he was anxious to see what the room looked like and what candies that were there. He had been missing Dyllie a lot lately.

"Already missing me, Damii"
"You bet I am."

Damion could see the candies as snitches. He was excited for getting one. He could see the room being decorated with chocolate brooms and it looked pretty.

"You can catch it Damii"
"You really think so"
"I know you can. Just focus and breathe"
"Alright! I will try my best."

Damion focused on one of the challenge candies. He could see it flying away from him. He was not going to give up just yet. He stretched his hand and tried to catch it but it slipped away. Damn it.

"Darn! It slipped away..."
"It's alright Damii. Breathe slowly and focus again. You can do it.
"Thank you"

Damion took a deep breath and focused again. He was going to try and catch the Challenger candy. he wasn't one to give up. He wanted to get the candy and be happy with this. He was pretty sure he would do it. He closed his eyes imagining Dyllie there next to him and tried to catch the candy again. This time he caught it. He was very happy. He put it in his pocket and smiled.

"You were right Dyllie."
"Good work Damii. I knew you could do it."
"Yeah thank for not giving up on me."

He was happy that he had got the candy. He now could go to another room. He was going to do that.

Aaron nodded as pleasantries and introductions were made. Yes, they were all in the same year, but they had not properly spent time together before (as far as he knew, at least). Zykeal mentioned something about seeing Aaron at the ball last year, which prompted Aaron to tilt his head slightly. He did not remember seeing him there, and more than that, Aaron definitely hadn't been hanging around in the changing rooms. "I think you've got me mixed up with someone else," Aaron said with a small, slightly uncomfortable smile. He did not much like talking about the secret Blossom Ball of last year considering how it had ended, but he had sort of come to terms with it over the summer. He'd even gotten some of the pictures Santario developed of the event. It was both a fond memory and a lousy one. A mistake but also an experience he had treasured. There were a lot of mixed feelings surrounding it.

Zykeal complimented his spacesuit next, and Aaron's face lit at the change in topic. "Thanks, I'm an astronaut who goes into space!" he said, stating the obvious. But he had recently learned that some pure-blood kids were very unfamiliar with muggle culture, and there was a whole class dedicated to it here at Hogwarts called Muggle Studies. After learning that, the twelve-year-old became very conscious of when he referenced muggle things that maybe his peers wouldn't know about. If they wanted further explanation on what an astronaut is or does, he would gladly offer it, but he didn't want to assume that they didn't know.

When Eyre invited them to take a crack at the brooms together, Aaron grinned competitively. "Absolutely! We can make it a contest!" And then he was off, leaping into the air to catch one of the chocolate brooms. His initial approach of just grabbing at the air and hoping a broom would be in his hand didn't go so well, so after a few moments, he slowed down and actually started watching the brooms. He was no seeker, but he was a Quidditch player at heart and had honed skills for stuff like this.

After a moment of observing, he caught onto one of them that was headed right- there! He nabbed it out of the air with ease this time, and shouted in triumph as he turned to see how the others were doing. Lydia and Zykeal had already caught theirs, much to Aaron's surprise! He must've spent too long observing their patterns. "Wow, nicely done!" he complimented them, stuffing his own chocolate broom into one of the spacesuit's pockets. Then Lydia suggested they all do their trick-or-treating together, which Aaron was more than fine with. Zykeal and Eyre seemed like cool people. Soon enough, the group of four were off to their next desination: the Astronomy classroom! Aaron was particularly excited for it, given his slight obsession with space lately.

Zykeal could have sworn that Aaron was one of the people that were in the dressing room at the ball event last year that went terribly wrong, but, it seemed like Zyk was mistaken and another Badger was the person he was thinking. Honestly, he wasn't surprised, he hadn't met many of them to even remember. There was Lydia, she was different though, the girl clearly had a charm over herself to attract people to her being and his blatant honesty of words he spoke towards the girl in their interactions was an obvious sign to him.

"My bad," he said, a slight smile coming to his face, kind of hoping he didn't offend the boy. "If it makes any difference, you seem cool comparatively,"

After Lydia had also caught one of the flying candies and backed off, he did so as well, mimicking her movements away from the others that were jumping about. Stashing the candy in his satchel, he looked over towards the girl as she started to speak up to the current group that seemed to gather together. A look was made over towards Eyre towards Lydia suggestion and he gave a slight shrug, "Why not?" he asked in a rhetorical question. Zyks hand would shift back towards the side of his waistband and he'd take out the aspen wood wand that was stationed there.

"Lead the way!" he said, a smile upon his face as he flicked his wand up towards his hat and cause a little spark to hit the helicopter blades upon the top of his hat, causing them to spin. Shifting his arm back down, he started to rotate the wand within the fingers of his hand like a drumstick; the obsessive tic scratching at his mind. The other arm would be stretched out and he'd drape it over Eyres shoulders and tug the boy along after he'd finished with everything.
