Interacting with @Jack Warren & @Dealla Prince

Hmph. The taunts from the other team had nothing to do with getting under Adonis' skin and annoying him. It was just out of competitiveness that made him respond in such a manner. Taunts from the other team were the least of his concerns and nowhere near the forefront of his thoughts. He could care less. Adonis noticed a few familiar faces on the other team such as Dealla and Mars, both of them were Ravenclaws that he had interacted before. Well, Dealla was in his tent so he obviously had, of course.

A chuckle escaped Adonis' mouth at the mention of the spider curse that happened in the Slytherin common room. "The thing is, I wasn't even awake for that whole ordeal. I slept right through it. Deep sleeper I suppose." The Slytherin boy said with a shrug. "Don't even dare try and group me up with the rest of them, anyways. I literally saved someone at the Blossom Ball when I could've left them there to bleed out. I also saw another fellow Slytherin help someone get out of there from your house. Not all of us are selfish and cowards." Adonis said with the roll of his eyes and letting out a sigh. "Anyways, no need to worry. I'm not after you... or am I? Who knows?" He let out another slight chuckle before turning away from him with a smirk on his face.

The boy then presumably got into his stance and flourished his wand, looking towards the others on the opposing team until finally resting his gaze on his target. Adonis had no plans on losing whatsoever in this fight. The only real plan he had in mind was winning. The intense gaze he had set on his target showed just how hardened he was with his ferocious hazel eyes.

Damion was standing in the Bishop position in the game. He and his team had talked about what they were going to do. He was happy to help his team out in anyway he could. He wanted to make his team proud. He wanted to have something he could tell Dyllie about. Shaking his head very gently, he let the thought of Dyllie leave his mind. He had a game to play right now. Not to be thinking about Dyllie. He needed to get away from thinking about Dyllie. Dyllie this.. Dyllie that... Dyllie wasn't here Dami. Damion needed to focus on the game and not his friend in Wales.

Sighing he moved to the designated Slot that was right to where Damion was standing. He moved there and waited for what the other team was going to do and what his other team members were planning. He wanted to win this game. He wanted to have something that he did good in his book not only for Dyllie but also for himself and his family besides his team.

Damion was looking at the other players on the other end and looked back at his team. He wanted to win this game so badly.

Round One
Image
10th of July 2020, noon

The duel started off right away and Artemis took notice at how strategic the students were being with their spells and moves. Six of them decided to move while the other four decided to attack each other respectively. If things kept up this way, this duel would be over much faster than the last duel he had to oversee. Watching the students conclude the first round was quite a sight to see. Three of them ended up with some damage while one was set aflame. The last one was now having a sniffling and sneezing fit over in his corner.

Watching the boy wipe his nose with his clothes, Artemis cringed and looked to another dueler to keep his eyes off of the snotty first year. It was going to be a long day for that boy...and he only had ten rounds to take out his opponent's queen with his teammates before he fainted on his own. This was going to be an interesting duel indeed. It was about time to have some dueling action in this school.

One step at a time. That was all the movement they were permitted. Only one square. In any direction. Admittedly, it took Greta a moment to actually come to proper terms with that. Especially as the queen, she would have to rein herself in. As much as she might have liked to, and as much as it would have been allowed had they been playing a normal game of Wizard's Chess, she could not be running all about the board on any line that she pleased. Sadly. Only one step at a time.

As it was here, by the rules, she could only attack the Queen before her, and only she could attack him; and what a fine Queen he was! He seemed to have taken to that particular role not only with ease, but eagerness. He didn't seem particularly up to attacking, however. When the call was given to start (as she understood by the motion by her team and the general hush of the crowd), the White Queen appeared rather defensive, as though he were on the lookout for incoming attack. Which, was quite understandable. But she wasn't inclined to open the match with an assault on the Queen. And, seeing as she wasn't feeling particularly up to being the one to mar Durmstrang's reputation by cheating, the only thing to do would be to take a step!

So she did, and as she did, the spells began to fly. Ducking instinctively and raising her wand hand ahead in preparation to cast, Greta positioned herself in her new square and whipped her head around to survey the scene. The one White Rook (E5) seemed to have been caught aflame, garments catching. The blonde winced at that. She'd been singed a time to two during duelling practice and wouldn't wish that upon anyone. Even a shallow burn could hurt to no end. The girl hadn't seemed to have gone down without a fight, though. A sweep to.. his name had escaped her.. the boy who had filled the rook opposite her showed him to be scrambling to his feet, evidently knocked back.

The rooks to her right had also engaged each other. [In German] "Well done!" Greta exclaimed, flashing the one named Theodore a furtive smile. He'd gotten her! The raven-haired girl had been knocked down by a flipendo, and by the looks of it, Theodore had come out unscathed. [In German] "She didn't hit you with anโ€”" Her words confirming his well-being were cut short as copious amounts of mucous began to pour from his faceholes. [In German] "That's.. unfortunate.." Wrinkling her nose, Greta offered him a sympathetic grimace. Had she known how, she'd have cast a spell to end the curse โ€” it surely couldn't be comfortable for him just now โ€” but she had obtained no such knowledge.

Instead, she'd have to focus back on the match. Elsewhere, their Queen was ducking and dodging, not unlike herself. Their bishops had moved into new positions and were ready to act. She prepared to act accordingly.

Damion looked around as the game started. He saw his team mates being attacked and attacking other team's rooks. He was supposed to wait for attacking. He was going to wait till his turn. He was very anxious to get a chance to attack the enemy. Right now he was doing as was discussed with his team. He was standing in his position and just trying to dodge any attacks his way. He wanted to help his team in any way he could. Whether it was this of whether it was with his spells and stuff. He wanted to make his team win the game and his family and Dyllie very proud of him.

He was happy doing as was strategized by his team. He didn't want to do anything other than what they were planning to do. He wanted to be able to win this game. But not leave his team alone in this. He was happy to be a part of a team. He was happy that his team had trusted him with this task. He wasn't going to let them regret it anyways. He wanted to do things that were planned and discussed by his team prior to the game.

There was a sense of excited anticipation the bubbled in the Hufflepuff prefect's chest. All he needed to do was put one foot in front of the other and take any spells directed at him. Jack thought he was rather good at drawing attention, but sadly he didn't even have the chance to show off how tough he was! A frown creased across his face as his body blocking fell to be useless. "Ight, I see. Well, if that is how it's gonna be played." The boy's eyes locked onto the Black team's Rook, Adonis. Only if he could actually hit the boy, but alas the only way to do so would break the rules. Disappointing to say the least.

Dee gaped down onto her burning sleeve in shock. He'd set her on fire. He'd actually set her on fire. Granted, she'd thought about doing the exact same thing until she'd changed to the Knockback Jinx at the very last second. There had just been a few too many encounters with burning students this past year, even without being part of the legendary Hufflepuff Fire.
Too stunned for the moment to do anything about it, or even really notice the sting of the fire, she looked up to glare at Adonis, already raising her wand again - only to discover that one of his teammates was now standing in front of him. She narrowed her eyes. She would so get him back for this.

A quick look around told her that Jack had stepped in front of Everett to use his muscle to protect their princess, pardon, Queen, while Mars was now standing in front of Santario. They all seemed to be doing fine for themselves, so she'd just focus on her own situation for now.

And so it had begun. One step at a time, a game of calculation and error, give and take, push and pull. Slowly advancing and retreating one move at a time. Honestly, it was maybe more anti-climactic than Mars had expected. For a second.

Then, the air around them exploded. Wands flashed, flinging out with the silent hum of power. Magic jolted like lightning bolts from all four corners of the field, hurdling itself in impending arcs at their teammates. Frick.

Mars leaped forward, skidding to a stop in the square just in front of their Slytherin Rook. They winced as they snuck a glance back at her. Damn, just a second too late. It probably should have been expectedโ€”after all, what human could outrun magic? Still, it was bothering to see that San had taken some damage.

"You good?" Mars asked her, body half angled to their teammate and half to the rest of the field, their wand still held in a loose grip. From the looks of it, San's spell had hit too; the boy across from them was sniffling, snot leaking from his nose. Poor thing. A sadistic smile spread over Mars' features. Oh well~. You win some, you lose some.

Dee had hit too apparentlyโ€”her spell had come into contact with Adonis on the opposite side. Mars couldn't help but laugh, looking to the teammate in question. They were about to yell a compliment and maybe a friendly remark but then they noticedโ€”fire. Sh*t. What to do about that? Jack had stepped up with them, mirroring their defensive strategy, but there hadn't been anyone left to guard Dee. Mars swore under their breath, recounting what had happened in their head.

San had hit, Dee had hit, and they and Jack had stepped up. That leftโ€”Rett. They glanced over at their Queen, still rooted in the same square. Had heโ€”ducked?

Of all theโ€”Mars gritted their teeth, hiding a grin. They were glad he was unscathed, being the Queen and all, but so help them, if he was still worrying about maintaining his "perfect" hair and not focused on the game, they come over there andโ€”unperfect it for him.

"Hey, princess," they called, eyes darting around to take in the rest of the Black Team's new positions, "Next time, try something slightly less useless." They hoped he was smart enough to catch their meaning. For now, they could only do what they were meant too.

Watching Adonis get knocked back with Flipendo, Thomas stepped into his position and set his sights on the perpetrator. He recognized her, that was Dealla! One of the people in the forest. It was weird, recognizing faces and names from his time at Hogwarts, particularly when they were faces and names encountered in such odd circumstances. Regardless, he tried to shake those sentiments off and raise his wand for his next action.

The first round definitely could've gone worse, but it definitely could've gone better. With the flashing of wands and spells already being thrown about the field immediately, Everett took cover behind Jack as he moved in front of him. He was the Queen! It was appropriate that Jack be covering him, protecting the most valuable person on the team. A sneer came over his face as he heard Mars call out to him asking him to do something less useless. "Same could go for you twinkle toes. Maybe cast a spell next time." Everett surveyed the damage around the board that happened during his ducking, and prepared for the next round of movements.
