Another Place to Talk PV Closed

“What was the worst time a spell backfired on you? Doesn’t matter how big or small, just the worst time any spell backfired on you.” Ebony asked.
“Oof.” James thought and said out loud. “Ah…. that’s a hard one. But it’s hard because I  haven’t done many spells, and because of that, not many times has one backfired…. Actually, I don’t know if any of my spells have ever backfired.” he said. “That’s definitely NOT saying that I’m any good at magic! I’ve tried a certain spell plenty of times and have just ended up with nothing. But that’s the closest to a backfire I’ve gotten…” James explained, moving his hands around probably more than necessary when he was speaking.
James looked back up at Ebony and got scared for a second. It was almost as if she had disappeared entirely and Snow White had taken her place. For a small second, James actually thought that’s what had happened, and his hopes had risen dramatically. His hopes hadn’t risen with the fact that Ebony had disappeared, but with the fact that Snow White was right in front of him.
When James realized that it was still Ebony, because it didn’t look exactly like Snow White, he burst out laughing.
“Oh my gosh…” he said, wiping laughing tears away from the corner of his eyes, “I actually thought you were Snow White for a second!” James said, putting it together that she had her wand in her hand and had used it to change her appearance. “It looks really good, though!” James exclaimed honestly. “But again, this is coming from a major Disney fan!”
James realized he actually rather wanted to spend time with Ebony changing their appearances to match Disney characters. Actually, James just realized they could change their appearances into almost anyone! Of course, it would probably be a bit like drawing, which meant that they wouldn’t look exactly like the characters, but it depended on how good they were at imagining and executing.
James suddenly got really excited and voiced all of this to Ebony.
“Can we? I mean, we can keep asking questions, but now, I REALLY want to try doing that.” James said, getting really excited. “And maybe, this will be my first time having a spell backfire on me!” James added, laughing.

"Sure! Though I recommend to project a image of a character if you haven't seen them in a awhile." Ebony said, then she conjured up a bright red apple and held it in the palm of her hands. She then cleared her voice and made it slightly higher to sing a few notes in Snow White's voice. She giggled then ,with her hand, she hit the small, cloud like projection of snow white. It instantly dissapered. Then she conjured up a picture of the snow queen. She wasn't sure what her name was, she just saw glimpses of the movie but she saw enough to know how she looked like. She started to change her black hair to blond-white hair but stopped when she turned to talk to James, her hair now silver. "So who are you going to change into? Oh, and the worst time a spell backfired on me was when I tried getting rid of my sun promblem and I made myself glow in the dark." Ebony giggled. Then she continued to make her hair longer and change it into blond hair. She made her hair a bit more white than yellow-ish and made her hair into a braid, then draped it over her shoulder. She made her lips a bit thinner and dulled down the color to a light pink. Then she made her eyes electric blue and added purple eyeshadow. As the finishing touch she added small snow flakes in her braid. Then she held up a mirror and was pleased that she didn't do that bad. She turned over to James to see was he was going to be.

James thought about it.
"AGHH!" he exclaimed quietly, "This is so hard! What Disney character have I always wanted to be!?"
James was completely freaking out. He was so excited, but maybe a little too excited because he didn't now what to do...
"Can I be a Disney animal?" James asked. "Ah! I'm freaking out, because I'm so excited! I can't think right now!" James realized he probably sounded very silly.
He couldn't even begin to list characters to turn into.
"Can I turn into ANY Disney character?" James asked. "Like, are there any limits? Could I turn into, like, the magic carpet or Lumiere? Or an anthropomorphic animal, like from Zootopia, Robin Hood, Chicken Little, or Bedknobs and Broomsticks? Or, just an animal in general, like from the COUNTLESS animal Disney characters? Or, like, if I wanted to, a mythical creature, like a mermaid, fairy, or genie or something? And speaking of, if I wanted to turn into an underwater creature, would I survive? Or is this all just appearance, and not actual traits? Like a hologram or something? OH! And what about Marvel or Star Wars? Could we do those too? Oh, and what if it's like, a robot or something, like WallE? Or a toy, like, from Toy Story? Or, I normally wouldn't ask this, but what about gender changing? Or size changing? UGH! I'm so conflicted!!!"
And James really was. Hopefully, his questions could be answered, and his freaking out would settle down.

Ebony smiled at James rapid firing questions at her. It was kinda cute. She tried to answer the questions as best as she could. "Well the appearance is one thing, anybody could do that. But with the traits you would have to cast a certain spell on yourself to match a character, which would be a bit harder but not impossible. Size changing shouldn't be so hard... The gender changing though. Some witches and wizards that were in my neighborhood changed themself completely, including the gender, to prank their friends. So it's definitely possible. I'm gonna try something real quick.." Ebony trailed off and pointed her wand at herself, vaguely remembering a spell that was supposed to give her ice powers. She learned it after watching the frozen movie because she fell in love with it. She already had the appearance of Elsa now she just needs the powers. She quickly muttered a spell a a blast of blue light shot towards her. When it bit her she didn't feel any pain, she just felt normal. Time to test this out. She moved her hand towards the ground, her eyes closed tight with concentration. When she opened them she saw a pile of snow there. Ebony kept off the bed and laid in the snow, in turn causing her to make a snow Angel. "I did it! James, I am completely like the snow queen now!"

James watched in amazement as Ebony turned herself into a very close replica of the snow queen, Elsa, from Frozen. She had actually managed to give herself the ice powers too!!! James stared for a moment, completely mesmerized.
"This. Is... AWESOME!" James said, WAY past the point of excited. "This SO much better than meeting the characters at Disneyland, even though I've never actually gotten the chance to do that, but still!!!"
"Ohmygosh, now I REALLY REALLY want to try! James said excitedly, clapping his hands as if he was a little toddler. If he had seen his face, he would have been blown away by the grin that was on it at that moment.
James pulled out his wand and thought of a random character. One of his favorite characters. James probably should have stopped to think a little more about it before trying it.
Todd! From the Fox and the Hound!
All logic had disappeared from his mind, and he grabbed a blanket from the bed and threw it over himself, making him look like a halloween ghost, but with no eyes cut into the sheet.
“Prepare for a magic show unlike any you have ever seen!” he called out from underneath jokingly to Ebony.
He pulled out his wand and instantly imagined his features like fox features.
A flash of red light issued from inside the blanket, and James dropped his wand in shock. Something was different. Had it worked? He pulled off the blanket, and saw Ebony still there in front of him. Yeah, something was different… but he was still standing on two feet, and he noticed he didn’t have any claws or paws. He looked at his feet too, and his legs, and his arms, and he felt his face. Nothing seemed to have changed. He was about to say something like “Nothing happened”, but suddenly, he became aware of something behind him. He turned around to look, but there was nothing there. Puzzled, he felt that same thing behind him again. He turned around once more, but still saw nothing. Except for Ebony looking at him. He decided to stop turning around and just feel behind him. He reached behind with both hands and grabbed at something big and fluffy.
For a small, miniscule, split-second moment, James was afraid of a fluffy animal sneaking behind him, but the he realized what it actually was. Keeping one hand on it, he looked over his shoulder to see that he had a orange foxes’ tail!
James let out a gasp and brought his hands up to his head, as if to grab chunks of his hair in distress, but felt something else fold up beneath his fingers. He felt around for a moment, before turning to a mirror on the wall. He had fox ears too!
James blushed in embarrassment as he turned back to face Ebony.
“Well…” he said, nervously chuckling, “I guess this counts as my first spell backfired.”

Oh my gosh did James just....TURN HIMSELF INTO A HUMAN/FOX HYBRID!!!

Ebony was gaping at James as she saw his fox tail and his fox ears. Were those real? Ebony stood up her hands dropping to her side in shock. She accidentally fired a icicle into the plush carpet but she didn't mind, not with James looking like that.She slowly walked up to James and she had the ironic feeling like she was sneaking up on a animal.
Get it? James has-

Ebony calmed herself down enough to reach up and gently touch the fox ears without freezing them. James ears twitched and she quickly pulled back her hand, staring at his ears in amazement. She realized his ears might be really sensitive and muttered "sorry". Ebony took a double take. She thought James looked pretty cool. With his blond hair and his red fox ears it kinda looked like his hair was like flames. It also really contrasted against the sky blue of his eyes. "It isn't that bad..." She started before her magical fan girl side took over.
YASSS! Anime, Magic, fox hum-
BE QUIET!
"It looks so cool! James, that is amazing!!!" Ebony squealed, and shot a snowball to the wall. She stared at her hand and wondered when the spell would come off.

James watched as Ebony stepped towards him with a curious and strange look on her face. He knew what she was looking at , and it only made him blush even more. She reached up and lightly touched his ears, and James could feel them twitch. Ebony pulled back her hand, and the blush worsened.
"Sorry..." Ebony muttered. "It isn't that bad..." That didn't really do anything to ease the worried look on James' face.
"It looks so cool! James, that is amazing!!!" Ebony squealed, getting all excited and accidentally throwing a snowball at the wall. James shrunk back in embarrassment and sat on the floor against the bed, letting out a small whimper that sounded a bit too much like a fox for him. As he sat down, his tail moved to the side of him, showing itself better than ever to James and to Ebony. James felt like he might cry. His face was redder than his tail and ears, and that was saying something. He curled his legs up to his chest, wrapping his arms around them, burying his face in his knees.
“This is so embarrassing.” James muttered, not looking up at Ebony. He brought his head back up and took a breath of fresh air, and reached up with one hand to touch his ears. He tugged lightly on one, and seeing that it didn’t come off, and he could feel and hear out of that ear, he had to bite his lip to prevent himself from tearing up. He felt around where his ears should be, only to find nothing.
James exhaled and then inhaled deeply, before exhaling again heavily.
“Okay…” he started, shakily. “What now?” he said. “Could you get them off? Magically, not anything with scissors, please!” James asked.
If James could not have the ears and tail removed, over time he would most likely come to find that it isn’t so bad, and he would come to like them very much. But being new to magic in general, right now, he was still in a state of shock.

Ebony frowned. She didnt think she could do anything about the fox ears and fox tail. She didnt know all the spells in the universe, shes only a kid! But when James asked her if she could do anything her heart broke a little. The pleading and desperation in his voice made Ebony wish she could be better. But she couldnt. And she wouldn't. It was way too dangerous. She got down on her knees and gently lifted James face, causing him to look at her. "I don't know what to do....I don't want to use any spells on you. Your regular ears are gone and these ears are the ones you have left. If my spell backfired and you lost your hearing, I wouldn't be able to live with myself. I'm sorry James. I can't do anything." Ebony's eyes were on the verge on crying. She leaned over and gave James a hug, trying to calm him down. And herself to be completely honest.
If they both start crying, I'm going to puke.
now's not the time!
Ebony detached herself from him and held him a shoulder length. "You will get through this James. I promise you. Even if I'm not good enough we will find someone who is to fix this. Right now we just have to roll with the punches."

James' heart was beating really fast. He was part fox! It felt like a dream, but he knew it wasn't a dream. Because he could feel the triangular, pointy ears on top of his head, and he could tug on and feel the bushy tail that had appeared so suddenly. 
Okay, okay... he just needed to breath. With Ebony's help, they could figure out what to do next...
"I don't know what to do....I don't want to use any spells on you. Your regular ears are gone and these ears are the ones you have left. If my spell backfired and you lost your hearing, I wouldn't be able to live with myself. I'm sorry James. I can't do anything." Ebony said. She gave James a hug, which he appreciated.
"You will get through this James. I promise you. Even if I'm not good enough we will find someone who is to fix this. Right now we just have to roll with the punches."
James nodded slowly and took a breath. He stood up, sweeping his tail behind him. He took another deep breath, calming down some more.
"Okay. I think..." he started, "... maybe we should go to Professor Lear. He's the one I know the best, and I trust him well enough. Plus, he's the Head of Hufflepuff AND the Care of Magical Creatures professor. He's gotta know something about this... and I'm not too fond of the idea of the Hospital Wing... this would be my third time going there... and something tells me the trip wouldn't be too pleasant."
James thought for a moment, before asking Ebony, "What do you think?"
Now that James was starting to calm down, he was beginning to think that maybe having a tail and ears wasn't so bad. He might come to rather enjoy it. But at the same, he knew he couldn't go home like this. Every time he walked down a hall, people would stare or maybe bully him. He might be hunted, or trapped, or sold, or experimented on! He didn't know if any of these things happened in the Wizarding world, but he really didn't want to know. As much as James might or might not have liked it, he couldn't stay part fox.

Professor lear......is it bad Ebony didn't know him? Well, she heard of him and his name sounded familiar enough to her but she wouldn't recognize him if her life depended on it. Her memory sucked sometimes. Well, if James trusted him, she trusted him. James knew more than Ebony about staff and other school related subjects. To be fair she really didn't pay attention. Ebony didn't really like the idea of going to the hospital wing. She could sit through a horror movie marathon but she couldn't stomach any real gore, that's just how she is. "I think that's a good idea. He will definitely know what to do and how to fix this. Now we need to contact him and get out of here." Ebony said, desperately wondering if Professor Lear could help. Sure, he probably can it just Ebony really didn't think on the bright side. She always expected the worst so on occasion when the worst did happen she wasn't so surprised. Ebony looked at James. "Um, since we are going outside, we are going to have to cover your ears and tail. Your ears can be covered with a hat...but your tail?" Ebony shrugged her shoulders as to say I have no idea. Then she opened her bag and pulled out the umbrella she carried everywhere. Ebony had her umbrella for the sun, James had his hat (will have after they find one) for his ears, now they needs something for his tail...
