Family Recipes for Disaster

Hjørdis just laughed softly to herself, shaking her head in disbelief at the man. He definitely knew where his daughter got her mischievous nature from - and apparently the mad one. After all, he did enter the kitchens by dancing in, in the middle of the night. Madness ran in the family, it seemed. Stirring in the chocolate chips, she glanced over at him. "Well... you're in luck then, aren't you?" She replied with a smile on her face, "You know me, Caradoc Browne." She added to clarify what she meant. The Slytherin in the room was certainly fond of cooking, as well as baking. If nothing else, she could certainly help him improve in that area.
"Oh, you know..." She replied, still smirking at him as she started to divide up the dough into four evenly sized portions. She floured the surface lightly before she started to roll out the first portion, "I'm just saying she's ambitious. I quite like that quality, believe it or not," She continued not quite answering his question. They both knew what she meant. It was just more fun to tease him about things.
She rolled each portion into a fifteen inch rope, which was flattened. Mixing in cinnamon and the remaining sugar over each rectangle before repeating. By the time she got to the fourth portion, she noticed that it was considerably shorter in length than the other three. Her eyes narrowed at Caradoc, who she immediately suspected. Of course she could have made them uneven to begin with but that seemed highly unlikely. In her head, it would never have happened. He was the most obvious suspect here.
Luckily, about twenty minutes later, he would have cookies that he could actually consume - without being slapped or glared at. Whilst he busied himself with the Norwegian Chocolate Chip Cookies, Hjørdis returned to work on the kransekake that she had left in the cooling cabinet. That one required a lot more precise measures - and quite a lot of careful watching. Every so often, there was another slap to prevent the man from consuming anything before it was done. She would not have a repeat of the cookies. It was far easier now, however, that there were cookies that she could shove into his face instead.
Time seemed to go by pretty quickly. Hjørdis loved baking. It was one of the few things in life that she was genuinely passionate about and she could spend hours just creating things without a care in the world. Normally the kransekake was decorated with red and white icing - perfect for Christmas. However she made the mistake of letting the Hufflepuff man decide and of course, he went with black and yellow. She rolled her eyes but obliged.
A tower of eighteen glittery rings iced in black and yellow was eventually completed.
By the end of the evening - well... by five in the morning - they were done. When the hufflepuff students left their common room that morning, they would be greeted by the sight of trays of chocolate chip cookies. One tray would be found in the slytherin common room that morning. After both of the professors had already indulged in consuming far too much sugar for the day. But given how little sleep they had, it was probably necessary. The top half of the giant kransekake could be found in the hufflepuff head of house's office whilst the large rings at the bottom of the kransekake would be found in her own office for visitors. Though, she could not guarantee it would last long.
