Marilyn couldn't help but let out an excited cackle when Cassie grew more interested in what would happen. As Ava began to open the window, Marilyn braced herself for what would happen. Wind rushed into the cabin, blowing papers around. Marilyn made sure to grab any papers that threatened to fly out the window. The window was not open long, as Ava quickly shut the window. Well, their experiment of sorts was complete. Magic did not extend out the train.

Ava and Cassie explained how each of them had family members in Ravenclaw, and Cassie wondered if they could've attended together back in their day. "That'd be so cool!" Marilyn grinned at Cassie. "I don't know if my Mom would've been so social, she's kind of strict and quiet nowadays."

As Cassie handed their brush to Ava, the train lurched to a halt. Marilyn felt her body tense and Cassie warned them "Act natural!" That's when a tall man whom Marilyn assumed was the conductor approached the compartment.

Marilyn wasn't good with being in trouble, which was ironic because she liked doing things that would end up getting her in trouble. She was stiff in her seat, looking between Ava and Cassie. She was speechless, wanting one of them to take control of the situation.

Thankfully Ava spoke, attempting a lie. Cassie and the conductor had some quick back and forth, and Marilyn was impressed by their ability to talk back like that. The conductor finally left, and Marilyn let out a soft breath. Ava voiced her compliment, and Marilyn nodded in agreement. Cassie responded by merely saying it was about smarts but about the ability to remain calm. Marilyn sighed as she admitted, "That's something I'll need to work on. I was frozen stiff back there."

They then figured it would be about fifteen minutes before they arrived, and how they shouldn't let this friendship end once they got off the train and sorted into the houses. Marilyn reached out her hand along with Cassie and Ava's and nodded with the widest grin she could muster. "Of course! This was one way to start off the year, and I'm not about to just let it go! Even if we all end up in different houses, you guys are gonna stay my friends!"

Ava laughed before her smile seemed to stay glued to her face as the three of their hands met in the middle, "It's decided then!" The young to-be woman spent the remainder of the train trip either trying to start up a discussion on magical creatures from their textbooks or staring out the window in awe. As they got closer and closer she could barely contain herself and occasionally peeked out of their cabin for the grump conductor. If she did spot him she sucked her head back in and would stifle a giggle as if laughing was somehow another unknown offence.

Luckily, fifteen minutes wasn't too long to wait and the train began the screeching of its break letting every passenger know they had arrived as adults walked through making sure everyone was grabbing their stuff and to head off. She grabbed her suitcase with an, "Oof." and a soft thud before starting out and waving to her new friends, "See you at Hogwarts!"

Was it rude to leave them behind like that?

Ava didn't think so, after all, she had to make new friends as soon as possible! The more, the merrier! However, if she ended up with those girls all year she wouldn't be bothered.
