Elizabeth hadn't experienced many fights before her time at Hogwarts but now that she was here, it was almost as if bad luck followed her. It all happened in a blur, her mind not really processing what was happening until she was on the floor with the other girl on top of her.

She finally registered what was happening once her head started to throb worse than any other migraine she had experienced. Just like when she had fought that Slytherin at James' party, something in her snapped and she wasn't in control anymore.

The other girl had a handful of her long hair, fighting like a girl who had no idea what she was doing. Elzabeth landed a punch anywhere she could reach, hoping it hurt like hell. They scuffled for a few more seconds, there was no telling exactly what injuries they gave to each other since both of them seemed to be hyped up on adrenaline.

Elzabeth growled and finally jerked her knee up, right into the other girl's stomach. It gave her just enough momentum to knock the other girl off of Elzabeth and onto the stone floor next to her.

She really wanted to continue to punch and kick but the voice in the back of her throbbing head was screaming at her to stop. Elzabeth had lost all sense of her surroundings, she no longer thought much about how William would see her after this, she no longer cared about how the other kids saw her, she wanted revenge.

Just then someone grabbed her by the shoulders and dragged her back. If her vision wasn't swimming with black dots, there would have been a few words exchanged that her mother would smack her for saying.

She was still shaking from the newfound energy coursing in her veins but there was a whole other problem at hand, Elzabeth was bleeding. She wasn't sure exactly where it was coming from but one moment she moving her tousled hair and the next her hand came back with smeared crimson.

"Fuck." Elzabeth hissed, she knew she was going to start to come down from her brief high and when she did she was going to feel that. It dribbled onto the collar of her shirt and down on her robe which was enough to make her want to let out another cuss word. It was hard to get blood out of these robes!

Elzabeth looked up at the people surrounding her, wondering if she still had time to walk away before things got even more embarrassing.

As Ana continued to land punches on the girl, hitting her body as hard as she could, she vaguely noticed someone new approaching. The Ravenclaw did not care, honestly - the crowd around the two fighting girls was already pretty large, one more student would not make a difference. Still, the witch approaching distracted her, causing her to slow down. Ana's opponent could use that to her advantage. And she did.
As the girl jerked up her knee and slammed it into her stomach, Ana fell backwards, yelling in pain, clutching her belly. Before she squeezed her eyes together to hold back the tears - not that it mattered, her face was already damp, red and puffy from tears of anger and frustration - she caught a glimpse of the gleaming badge fastened to the robes of the Slytherin who had last joined the crowd. A Prefect. Prefects meant trouble. She was not exactly sure what punishments the girl was actually allowed to give, but much more importantly, the Prefect would report to a Professor. And if that report said anything about Ana's list, she and the escape plan were doomed.
Ana struggled to get back to her adversary, fumbling for the wand tucked into her robes now. All that mattered to her now was revenge. But before she could pull it out and cast a spell, fingers cold as ice ran over her neck, making the hairs there stand up on end, then grabbed the girl's collar. Blinking her tears away, Ana could see that the Prefect was attempting to separate them. She struggled for a moment, fighting her hands away, punching back without certainty whether she would actually hit her target, scratching the Slytherin's wrist with her fingernails, but soon slumped to the floor. Now that the adrenaline high was over, exhaustion and the pain from the Ravenclaw's punches got the better of her.
"Can anyone tell me what happened?"
, the Prefect asked sternly. "She insulted me and tried to steal something - something very important to me", Ana muttered weakly. She wasn't sure if she had been heard, though, as the other Slytherin, who appeared to be her opponent's friend, joined in, his voice louder and clearer then hers. To be fair, he didn't blame the fight on Ana. He wasn't taking sides at all - for the moment. And she noticed that he didn't mention the escape plan. She was thankful for that.
Ana slipped a hand into her pocket. It was empty. Where was her list? Her eyes opening wide in shock, she noticed a wrinkled page on the floor. Even though she had tucked it into her robes earlier, it must have fallen out during all the fighting. "My - my - give me that!", she croaked, the panic clearly audible in her voice.
Another Prefect had joined, also a Slytherin. Ana wasn't sure for how long she had been helping the other one, but now she realized that there were two people restraining her, keeping her from lunging towards the Ravenclaw. She pulled forward once more, desperate to escape their firm grasps and take back the list. "That's mine! I- I need it..."

After Serena finished helping the girl gather her things, she placed the loose papers back into her backpack. When she looked up, the first-year noticed that several other people had stumbled upon the scene. Some were just standing there, while others tried to help.

But unfortunately, the argument just kept getting even more heated. The curly-haired girl was talking about a…paper? She said that it was a draft, but it didn't take a genius to realize that that was a lie. Serena then spotted what must have been the item in question. From her position, she made out the words 'Fly Home' and 'Reunite with.' Oh…she was homesick. Serena could empathize with that. She had felt the same way when she'd first arrived at Hogwarts. While that explained some of the girl's actions, however, it didn't excuse them. Still, it was clear that this girl needed someone who would listen.

Serena was about to quietly offer that when the other girl threatened to rip her hand off. Serena had to hold back a groan. Oh, Merlin, that was only going to make things worse! And Serena was right because before she could say anything to attempt to diffuse the situation, the curly-haired girl launched herself at the blonde-haired girl.

Oh dear, they really needed some form of authority now! And as if her prayers were answered, two girls who were wearing the silver Prefect badge came by and broke up the fight. One of them, who Serena quickly recognized as Nico Shymane, asked what had happened. One of the bystanders who had shown up later offered it up, and so did the curly-haired girl.

It was then that Serena realized that she was one of the only ones who had seen the two girls collide, which had set off this whole debacle in the first place. So, she quickly spoke up. "Um, after rounding the corner, they accidentally ran into each other… Some heated words were exchanged, and she slapped her." Serena explained, pointing at the curly-haired Ravenclaw. She sort-of felt like she was a snitch (and not the golden ball in Quidditch), but that was what had happened after all. "I came over to help pick up the fallen things and make sure everyone was alright, but…um…things got out of hand… The badger awkwardly trailed off.

Hopefully, the Prefects wouldn't be too harsh on them. And a small selfish part of her hoped that she wouldn't end up in trouble for just trying to help.

At some point, everything had gone south. The curly haired girl (her name was Ana, or it was what the Ravenclaw who tried to stop them called her) had at some point decided that the only way to resolve all of this was through an actual fight. She looked in exasperation at the William, the Slytherin boy, clearly while they weren’t paying attention to the pair they had started to brawl. There was a lot of hair pulling and punching, at both girls were tumbling on the floor. Maria’s eyes darted in between the girls, looking for an opportunity to separate them. She was slightly bigger than the two of them, so she was confident that she could get one of them off.

Luckily, (or unluckily) a prefect heard all the ruckus and came to see what was going on.
'Might I ask what in Merlins name is going on here?...'
I told you we’re going to get caught.” Maria thought. The other girls gave their sides of the story before Maria decided to speak up. “Well, I saw this one walking down the corridor looking like someone spit in her porridge this morning.” She tipped her head at Elizabeth, the blonde girl. “Then at some point, I think they crashed into each other. Blondie over here said a few harsh words Then she,” This time she regarded Ana. “Retaliated with a slap. After that it was mostly harsh words. Until they decided talking it out wasn’t enough. We’ve been trying to break them up but I think both of them aren’t really thinking straight right now.” She looked at said girls and saw that the blonde girl was bleeding, and the curly haired girl was struggling against the prefect that held her back. Another prefect had also joined them.

Tryna solve a problem like Maria.

After the first explanation of what had happened, Ana didn't bother to listen to the other students' chattering anymore. All the descriptions they would have for the events of the past minutes would basically encompass the same things, only the wording slightly varied. Maybe some would blame her and other would blame Elzabeth; Ana suspected that the majority would point out her as the cause of the fight. From the corner of her eye, she saw a girl in yellow Hufflepuff robes lift her hand, index finger extended, and point at Ana. Just as expected. It was all so predictable.
Ana didn't mind detention. She wouldn't mind expulsion either. The Ravenclaw wouldn't get expelled for a little brawl, though; something more dramatic would have to happen. Casting one of the Unforgivable Curses, maybe. Setting the common room on fire. Something dangerous.
No expulsion for Ana, then. She would never do anything in that direction...
...and yet today, you slapped and punched a girl, a housemate of yours, even. Yes, the houses and this whole school don't matter to you, but you physically assaulted someone. You used to think you would never do that, either... this place is beginning to change you. You never used to be like that. What if it's this school? What if it's the magic here that is corrupting you? What if your plan fails... will you then stand here in a few years' time and Crucio everyone who insults you?
Ana whimpered in despair and lurched forward, trying to grab the list, but the Prefects were holding her back. Squirming and twisting in their arms, she turned until she was facing the two Slytherins. "Please... let me go... I need that! Please! It's mine, I need that...", she pleaded. She had never imagined herself like this either. Reduced to a sniveling, tear-stained mess on the floor, begging two girls only one year older than herself to let her go. Weak and pitiful. Ana was disgusted by herself. Still worked up and desperate about her plan, she began crying again, first silently weeping, then ascending to loud howls and sobs. After a few minutes, however, the sound of her sobbing turned into a fast, loud breathing on the verge of hyperventilation. Still, she managed to shout out. "Please! Give me that list!"
