Alright I'm here again hehe. I was wondering if controlling what house-elves does is considered Godmodding? I have been searching for any info on this matter but I couldn't find my answer, so now I'm asking!

They’re considered faceless npcs so you can briefly mention them let’s say- bringing you an apple- then leaving. But you don’t physically know them. They are not your character to play- they’re just faceless npcs

Remember they are not your servants. Most students wouldn't even meet a houseelf during a usual day, so saying that they bring you stuff is actually something you shouldn't do. They are cleaners and cooks in service of the school and not there to fulfill the students' every wish.
Best to be sure is to ask when you have a specific situation, right now I can only give you a blanket answer.

You can find information about the special items here - viewtopic.php?t=5007
Most don't unlock anything OOC and are for IC use only. Those which do unlock an area will specify which areas.

I believe that this feature was removed and that the Basements are open to everyone now, actually. (I could be wrong, things have changed so much over the years that my brain is tired. But I think that feature was removed a while ago and not re-added).

It could have been. I got the map last year and it unlocked the basements for me, but if it was changed I assume I wouldn't know since I've had it for a while now and am just used to having access to the basements through it.
