Duncan waited for the cheering to end before finally taking his seat. Everyone had seemed to welcome at the Hufflepuff table. His neighbors all said hello with a smile as he sat down with them. To be honest, his Father had told him so little about the school that he was a bit nervous. The new Hufflepuff had no idea what to expect. Once the food was in front of him though, he grew much more excited. It looked absolutely delicious! The Irish lad dug into his food with fervor. Each thing had to be tested for quality and each time it passed with flying colors. This was the life.

"Is the food here always this good? Or is this a special meal?" he asked one of the older looking students who simply grinned back at him without response.

That meant good news for the elder O'Hara. He smiled back and returned his focus to the food in front of him. And to the side of him. And all the way down the table from him. He imagined what foods would come in the future as well. Studies were the furthest thing from his mind as he finally relaxed from the food and looked to his neighbors. Who would his new friends be? When were meals? Where was the Hufflepuff dorm room? All questions he hoped would be answered soon.

Verla sat down after a long day. She looked over the table and saw none of her new friends, so she just grabbed some food and ate it. She was nervous around strangers, but she was with her house, so anyone from Hufflepuff she was comfortable toward. Kind of.

She stammered on her words as she said "h-h-hi." She said, as if a new born trying to say hi, she blushed immensly which she hated, but besides the blushing, she was very pretty, she never got complements besides from her parents before she was rejected. She knew she was beautiful too, and she hated it some times. Boys would always stare at her. She didn't really care, but at times, it'd get annoying since she was innocent and shy girl she was.

She yawned silently and rested her head on her hand which rested on her elbow on the table. she stared at the ghosts flying around. She was kind of glad they were around, didn't make her feel so lonely. But after the letter from her parents, she didn't really feel much like talking. But oh well, she was too shy to talk any way. So she got out a piece of paper in case they wanted to talk.

Skylar walked over to the hufflepuff table and looked around to see if there were any empty seats, preferably next to no one. Skylar hadn't made many...well any friends so far this year, and she thought that she wouldn''t fit in with anyone, because everyone had allready made their friend groups, and probably would ignore her if she tried to join their group.

Skylar saw that the end of the table was emty adn sat down. Food appeared in front of her and grabbed a sandwich. She took a bite, and she thought of her mother making her sandwiches everday for school. She realised how much she missed her family, and all of her friends at her old school. She stared thinking about her old friends. She sighed picked at her food. She looked up and saw Verla, the girl that she had barely talked to a couple weeks ago at the quidditch pitch. Verla looked at her and smiled. Skylar smiled back akwardly, and looked back down pretending to pick at something on her sandwich.

Skylar realised how shy she was on the inside, when around a large group of people. She looked around and saw that allmost everyone was talking and having fun. She sighed, again, and started doing her homework.

Evie walked into the Great Hall, her heart pounding. She was a little bit tired from all the excitement, and that made her hungry. She looked at all the food on the Hufflepuff table, and walked over. Eve hadn't made any friends here at Hogwarts yet, and she was determined to, however, all she wanted right now was food. Evie walked up to another redhead, who had been munching on a cookie, and now was resting her head on her hands.

and spoke up, "Is anyone sitting there?" Evie asked quietly with a polite smile, looking at the spot next to the girl. Evie was shy as well, and didn't know how the girl would respond. The redhead she was talking to was very pretty, Evie wished she was pretty. She was often told she wasn't by her older sisters, who were beautiful. Eve was a slightly tall, slim, girl who didn't like her freckles. Her mom had sent her a letter recently, and she was happy at home, however it didn't look like her father was doing well. Evie looked around the room at all the happy Hogwarts students eating. She was happy about being sent here at Hogwarts, she really liked it here, and it was like home.

"N-n-no. go ahead." Verla said politely as she munched on another cookie of her own. The girl was nuts for cookies, literally, if someone offered her one, she'd like at least two so she didn't seem rude. She was called the "cookie monster" by her parents when she was little. She'd do anything, almost anything for a cookie, or cookies. She looked at the girl now sitting next to her "h-h-hi, I'm V-V-Verla. S-sorry for the studder, I-I just g-get s-so ner-ner-nervous around n-new people." She said kindly, hoping she wouldn't find it annoying. When she first went to kindergarten, she had such bad luck since she was so shy.

But she was determined to help her social skills. She needed to get better at talking people if she wanted to be a zoologist when she got older. She took out her bag and dug around in it for a book. When she found it, she began reading it. It was the script for Sergie and the Beast, she was an extra. And she needed to study her lines, though she didn't have much, she could still jeopardize her reputation in it, she hated to stutter, but she knew the play would probably help her.

"Its all right," replied Evie with a smile as she sat down. The girl seemed nice but shy, and Eve could relate. She decided to leave the girl alone, as she could tell she didn't want to talk. Filling her plate up, Evie munched on some mashed potatoes, a piece of ham, a cookie, and some lemon bars. She loved lemon bars, but nothing would compete with mashed potatoes. Sweet, creamy, salty mashed potatoes. Eve was still thinking about mashed potatoes when a loud sound broke her out of her trance. A student had slammed her plate down fairly loudly. She looked around to see the source of the noise, but couldn't detect it. So far, Eve had one friend, and she was determined to make more. "Are you part of that play? It sounds awesome!" Evie hoped she would be part of a play one day, but she didn't like getting up in front of a large crowd of people. Eve tried to be cheerful when she talked to people. After all, her mom said that the best way to make friends is to be nice and try to make them comfortable. Evie knew a lot of people liked talking about their activities, and Eve was always eager to hear about them.

Rheolin walked toward the yellow table, beaming. She knew the moment the hat had called out Hufflepuff that it was the right fit for her.

Suddenly she froze. This was the house known for politeness and cordiality; everyone was already making friends. Rheolin knew she fit here because she would be a good friend, not because she could make them. She had no idea what to do.
Okay, okay. If Rory were here, she would stride over to the table and just plop herself down. She would try to ignore everyone else. If someone wants to be my friend, Rheolin decided, I'll be glad to make one. Until then, I'd better let someone make the first move.
Shaking off her nerves, Rheolin made her way to the table, trying her hardest to appear confident. Her eyes widened as she looked up and down the table for a place to sit. Rheolin darted over to an empty spot, relieved to find no one would be sitting next to her unless they made the choice.
Rheolin settled herself down with a glance at the empty plates beside her. I think I'll do just fine here. I get to live in a castle, and work with magic.... Her head jerked up at the sudden sound of laughter nearby, before she relaxed with a smile. And in Hufflepuff, I'll be sure to make some friends.

I sometimes use quotes for letters. Behind the screen I'm an American with a passion for reading. I'm in the process of writing a dystopian novel, and a Hogwarts CYOA.

Verla looked at her and nodded "I'm an extra, and I might be helping take pictures for it too. Although  I don't know." Verla smiled shyly but kindly, she hated making herself seem like a freak. Though she was surprised she didn't write on paper again. Maybe it'd be best if people thought she was a mute. It'd be best, she thought anyway, since she was so shy and she hated speaking, although any person in the world could tell that Verla had a lovely voice, and all who heard were in awe and felt bad that she was the way she was, which she hated.

She hated it when people pitied her, her life needed anybody that could be her friend, but not out of pity. Sorrow, maybe, but never pity. She would always think that if she could kill a word, it would be pity, hate, sorrow, sadness, and whatever else meant sorrieness for another person. Yeah, you can feel bad, but you don't have to make it worse for the other person.

She hummed a country song to herself as she reread the script, over and over so she didn't forget her lines. She saw another person sit down and waved at her.

Bunny marched over to an empty seat at the extraordinarily long table, her pale face buried in her potions book. She finished reading the page she was on, and tucked the book away into her robes. Her eyes widened as she looked across the table to see every food and drink she could possibly want, and luckily there was plenty of fruit and vegetable choices available to cater to the animal-lover's taste.

She picked up the lovely goblet in front of her and filled it with a lovely purple frothy drink that smelled of plum pudding and cider. "Mmm" She had no clue what it was, but it tasted divine. Delicately, she slid a large piece of pink and orange trifle onto her plate, and took a rather large helping of steamed vegetables. The trifle reminded her of the way her mother made it when she was yound, and the vegetables smelled exactly like her father's. She looked around longingly at her fellow students, she had yet to speak to anyone. She rested her face on her hands for a moments and smiled to herself.

While preoccupied with the fantasies of future friendships made, Bunny finished her large portion of steamed vegetables rather quickly, and as she began to dig into her trifle, she dropped a substantial amount onto her robes. "Dragon bogies!" She blushed a bright red and feverishly attempted to wipe the pudding off of her new robes. Luckily, it wiped off pretty easily. Now bright red and extremely embarassed, Bunny laughed awkwardly to herself, and began studying her potions notes intently, gripping the book tightly and visibly clenching her jaw tightly. of course! of course you've done this on your first day! She was still as red as the beets on her plate.

Melissa saw the red-faced girl and though Hey, might as well try and make friends not that she really think she would make it. She was a little bit unsure as to why the hat had put her in here. She wasn´t particularly friendly or extroverted, in fact, some could describe her as cold. But there was a difference between not liking crowds and not liking any sort of company.

"Um... are you okay?" She asked softly as she sat next to her, feeling nervous about what the girl could say in reply. "I just though you looked like you might need some help- wait a second... is that sushi?!"

Okay, so maybe she needed to straighten her priorities. Friends first, sushi later. But the sushi looked soooooooooo appetizing. Melissa proceeded to serve herself all the sushi she could find, and glare at the unfortunate sould who tried to reach for the same as her.

"As I was saying, you okay?" She turned to the girl again between bites "You looked a little red, need some air?"

Yeah, probably not the best way to make friends. Then again, who said she was good at this socializing thing? On her best days, she came as akward. On her worst... probably better not to think about it.
