@Kim Sato, your PC is your account, the two are tied together and your player character forms the core of your experience. Hogwarts.io is relatively unique in the fact that players are only afforded with one character for their entire seven year experience. It is impossible to deactivate an account and bring a PC over to the new account as you are deactivating your PC.

iNPCs are not equivalent to PCs, they are not designed nor envisioned as equivalents. You cannot trade your iNPC slot for a second PC as they are not comparable.

iNPCs serve as bonuses that are tied to your account, in much the same way that your wand or stats are tied to your PC, so is your iNPC. The one exception to this is that they can be transferred between accounts of the same year. This only ever affects first years who register with enough time to deactivate and re-register within their first year.

@Sienna Lenoir, iNPCs cannot be deactivated as they are not accounts to deactivate. They are a bonus facet of the site that is tied to your PC. When you deactivate your account, you are effectively restarting your entire experience with a new PC, and this includes the registration of a new iNPC.

can they be transferred between players though? eg, i can transfer ownership of inpc to someone of the same year who wants it?

trying not to spam here but-

If you choose to deactivate a PC and keep yoru iNPC- by transferring it- they will be frozen if they're a year higher or several years higher.

No, you can't, iNPCs cannot be transferred between players.

why not? complications?

For one, and I speak solely for myself here- people actually have to create the character to embody who they’re playing- so creating them for the application works for me- but people just claiming a npc isn’t exactly fair in my opinion

In short, yes. iNPCs share trunks and stat allocations with players and a transfer would require amendments to that, in some cases it would also mean iNPCs may have used spells they do not know retroactively. The NPC would also then become tied to two accounts, both of which are active. You are only allowed one iNPC per account, you are encouraged to think this through before you make one, as such, if transferring was allowed, the transferor would not then be allowed to make a new iNPC.

This latter reason, as a whole, can summarise why you cannot transfer. Simply, iNPCs are locked and tied to PCs. They may have nothing to do with a PC IC but they are an extension of them for OOC purposes.
