Avery Gray wrote: 17 Dec 2025, 19:50 Same here. My school is very strict. (For other reasons besides kids playing games in class), so I'm lucky I can still access the site on my school computer. :)
same, my school blocked all music websites like spotify
So, the reason they block all those, as annoying and infuriating as it may be, is to reduce your distractions and to try and keep your attention on your school work and on your teacher (and their lesson).

So like, I remember getting a chromebook in 2017, the first year I mainstreamed, and I was excited and was able to pretty much have unrestricted access. Over the years though, about maybe 80% of the sites became blocked and if the teacher deemed a specific site necessary, they'd reach out to IT and IT would unlock the site for that class period.

(well, that isn't the only reason some sites are blocked, others are due to the content that may be displayed on their sites that may not be appropriate for school environments)
Kinda the opposite of my school (though your parenthesis are true about mine) honestly since I go to a private school that doesn't let us have our phones out or our headphones out unless we're doing a lesson. We can't even have our computers open during most classes unless we're doing school work so we aren't distracted. There's some other stuff that goes into it too, but it's a long story.
Lol my state banned phones/personal devices earlier this year for public schools, the only reason my brother has his in school is because his case worker managed to argue that he needs the phone
Same here! I have an old friend I used to go to school with that needs her phone with her for medical reasons. Luckily she doesn't go to public school, though. :)

I've been weitin gLindsey dreams which kinda help with Lindsey family history, it's kinda over 3000 words.
oh wow thats actually so super cool. do you post those? what topic do you put them in if so?
I haven't post any yet. There kinda sad but it will be going in why
just curious to know where solo threads like that would even go

Solo threads can go anywhere depending on what you want to talk about. Things from the past depending on where they are set would either be in Elsewhere or wherever else your character may be while Hogwarts solos could be anywhere in the castle!

That's one way!

Another way is RP'ing with some trusted partners!

For example, Colin, Scout and I all RP together to build our lore (Eg. Emmi's relationships with half-humans reflected in hers w/ Col and Scout, Scout balancing insecurities that she hides from Col and Emmi, and Col managing life as a werewolf while also trying to tell a stubbornly oblivious Emmi he loves her  )
how does one get trusted partners? sorry for being super obtuse rn
Scout, Colin and I (as well as a few others!) have RP'd together for a while now that we know what each other's styles of writing are like, what our characters act like when they're all together, and where we want our stories to go, both individually and as a group.

It's a bit like having a clique in a way. But if you have RP'd with a partner for a bit and you both enjoy RP'ing together, then maybe there's a sign that you guys can build lore together!

personally id plan out what you want to happen then think of the idea of a person you would like then ask and look through ppls emcys if they do respond to see if they would be a match

Dont get me wrong, I loved being in public school butttt it felt more like a regulated free for all that eventually got more and more chaotic :sob: lol

@Ari Gwild's graduating class was pretty sweet imo, but mine? :sob: we didn't really have that great a reputation (but on the bright side, we were the first graduating class to have a homecoming king, just don't know if we had another)

follow up question to my previous ones: when creating a solo thread, can you double post or do you have to pack it all into one post?

It simply isn’t an adventure worth telling if there aren’t any dragons.

Of course! Many people double post so they can write over multiple days instead of compacting into one long read! I've seen many do it for breaks or holidays. :)
