I've been a little confused about the godmodding and metagaming for a while now. I read a lot of forums but I still dont really understand it. I do know that godmodding means I cant roleplay as another character, I can only write what they wrote (like if they mentioned taking off their jacket for example, I can write that they took off their jacket). And does this thing also work on iNPCs and NPCs?
Also, I need a lil more explanation abt who/what NPCs are T.T

You pretty much nailed it for godmodding, but metagaming basically just means that your in-game character cannot know information that they have not already acquired IC. For example, if you see a stranger in the corridor out of uniform, you can’t just say that you know they’re a Ravenclaw because YOU ooc can see it on their profile.

There are two different kinds of main NPCs. There are dNPCs, which are typically the family of your character. You can RP freely with them, however you cannot do solo threads playing as a dNPC, nor can you write from their perspective. iNPCs are the characters you can create that attend the other schools, such as Beauxbatons or Ilvermorny. You can roleplay from their perspective if you get approved for one.

In terms of “godmodding” for NPCs, you have full control over dNPCs that you have created for your character, but you cannot control other people’s dNPCs unless stated specifically by the creator of the dNPC and within their set parameters. For example, if I was threading with someone and said that their mother called us down for dinner, that would be godmodding, as I did not receive permission and I took control of their character.

This was a very lengthy explanation that probs should have gone on the FAQ forum but there you go

So basically, Metagaming is taking OOC information and using it IC in a thread/roleplay. It goes for all characters, including NPCs. As for the meaning of iNPCs and regular NPCs, iNPC stands for independent non-player character, and NPC or dNPC stands for non-player character or dependent non-player character. Independent NPCs are NPCs attached to your account, but it's not your main account. You can roleplay as them, but they won't be your main account.

Dependant NPCs are like family; you can RP with them, but they cannot have solo threads. They don't have a separate account attached to yours, but you can create one to roleplay as such. iNPCs have full control over your dNPCs but they cannot control others dNPCs.

Let me give examples:

dNPC mom: You can use your main acc to control or your iNPC acc to do so (this is not god-modding)

iNPC char: You can only control your iNPC, but I'm not quite sure if you can godmod them

Metagaming: Yexian (OOC): Hey, did you know Yexian is Chinese?

Ekaterina (OOC): Oh wow! No, I didn't

RP

Ekaterina (IC): It's so interesting, I never knew you were Chinese!

Yexian (IC): etc., etc.
