Alexander's pearly whites were certainly earning their keep today. The Durmstrang boy kept his steps fluid and swirling around the music, careful of Katherine in his arms. It wouldn't do to injury the girl. After all, she was a pretty chess piece in this match he was playing. And god, he was enjoying playing it.

He smiled wider at her response to his perfectionist question. Good. It was nice to know that she didn't value half-assing things at the very least. Her next words to music to Alexander's ears as he pulled her closer, guiding her out of the way of another passing dancer.

Didn't do gossip, hmm? Ah, she was finally on the defense. He couldn't help the bloom of pride that he'd managed to ruffle her feathers even while remaining civil and polite.

"I do apologize if I offended you, Katherine. I never meant to assume," Alexander amended, voice soft and liting, "I appreciate that you had no ill will. It's rare to find someone such as yourself these days." Was that a good or bad thing? Who knew.

Alexander listened with one ear tuned in to her, the other following the path of the music. It was starting to wind down and he followed its lead, guiding them closer to the edge for when the break finally happened.

Similar to her? He took a moment to look Katherine full in the face, eyes tracing brown hair and a slim waist. Perhaps. Perhaps. If one squinted hard enough.

He lost some of her words as they glided past another couple, tuning back in when he found her staring at him. Alexander cocked his head lightly to the side, smile turning gentle. Oh. Self-deprecation. What a tiresome tactic.

"Please don't think that, Miss Labrouder. I assure you, I'll remember you for many months to come." Of course he would. He remembered anyone and everyone he talked too. It did well to remember names to faces. Besides, they all had such annoying mannerisms, it was hard to forget.

Alexander tracked her facial features, noticing her rather deep breath. Hmm. That was odd. It was getting harder to decode her tirades, but he was patient, hand on her waist as the music slowed to a swaying pace.

"Ha, well I can almost guarentee that I'm not as put together as you think," he replied. Ah, lying sometimes felt so good on the tongue, "but thank you nonetheless. You're quite kind." A safe place? Trust? Yes, certainly. Anyone could be trusted if you kept them in the dark just enough.

Alexander merely smiled at her teasing comment, watching her turn away for a laugh. He was glad she was enjoy this. That meant he'd put on an excellent performance. The music slowed nearly to a stop, enough time for the Durmstrang boy to guide them off the floor. He could dance for hours, yes, but there was something to say about the monotony of it all. Better to change the scene now and again.

"Katherine," he smiled, turning to her, "Care for a drink?"

Autumn leaned on the wall near her, looking around. She saw Mars T'ien, one of the only people Autumn respected in this damn hellhole of a school. However, they were already talking to Cassandra Ironwoods and Lindsey Springhall, so Autumn decided that she would rather not walk over to the trio. Three was a crowd, and Autumn disliked crowds.

Looking out again, she saw Wyatt Starkey.

Perfect, she thought, someone to displease with my presence and existence.

She began walking towards the Slytherin boy.

"Salutations. I, Raven Hupp, have decided to "drop in"."

She hoped that she had contemporary slang phrase correctly. She also hoped that the joke had not been made too soon. She was not great at jokes, and did not intend to cross a line. However, the events of the past year were the events of the past year. She would try to be nicer to Wyatt tonight, if not only to compensate for her past actions. Well, that was what she had planned to do.

Up until she realised what he was wearing.

Now, Autumn did not consider herself a fashion snob, but even she had higher standards than whatever that jacket was. An the orange undershirt. Wow. That was a whole new level of bad.

"How are you? No, do not answer that; I do not particularly care. What in the hell where you thinking with that jacket?"

Okay, that had come off as significantly more hostile than she had intended. Significantly more. She had to somehow attempt to lower malice level of her words.

"I like the mask though."

Wow. Truly the peak of social interaction. She was great at this.

Event The Fall Ball (Masquerade)
Interacting with: @Elias Weare, @Callie Jensen, @Thomas Baines
The thought of a girl who’d been socially isolated for the 11 years preceding her arrival at Hogwarts attending such a large social gathering came across as comical. To Valerie herself, at least. But, in spite of that, she'd made an appearance, stepping in through the doors leading into the ballroom, an arm hooked through Elias'. In the month succeeding the ‘stone mishap’, as she’d referred to it in the numerous discussions she’d had with the perpetrator, Elias and Valerie had become good acquaintances. Though a notorious grudge-holder, Valerie could, for the most part, choose her battles. Continuing to be outwardly spiteful towards the Ravenclaw boy for an accident that hadn’t affected her life long-term was a poor waste of energy - energy that could be spent handling other matters. The unpleasant bruise on her shoulder had healed over time and, ah, as the saying goes, revenge is a dish best served cold. The opportunity for it would simply have to present itself! The young girl was overly pleased with herself for coming to a rational decision. The show of maturity only fed into her ego.

Only fragments of Elias’ proposal had been caught by Val, but that had been enough for her to formulate a proper response, “Drinks?” Did Hogwarts serve slime and eyeballs for punch at balls? Or newts on sticks as appetizers? The childish thought made Valerie raise a hand to her mouth to stifle her own giggle. “Oh, that sounds fine.” The over-eagerness would sound immature, and so Valerie kept her tone as leveled as she could, to the point of monotony. But, the thought of being able to meet others brought a feeling of relief over her. Staying by the side of one person through the duration of the ball was bound to turn it into a snooze fest. Before she was guided by Elias through the crowd, Val retracted her arm from his to readjust the top of her gown. The loose, lavender garment fell to her ankles in layers and ruffles, cut short enough to display a pair of ballet flats of the same color. Standing at 5’1”, Valerie had felt that coming in footwear that would add onto that height would only serve to make her stand out like a sore thumb.

As her and Elias approached the refreshments table, it became clear that not everybody had been blessed with her height, the shrimp of a boy that was Thomas Baines coming into view. A feminine figure, one who stood out as only vaguely familiar to Valerie with the mask obscuring her features, had been rambling to him. The Slytherin girl kept to standing at Elias' side, unspeaking for the most part.

The uncharacteristic silence from Valerie's end hadn't lasted for long, as the girl she soon identified as Callie Jensen had addressed her. The inquiries Callie had made were shot out too quickly for Val to respond to each and every one without making herself look like a blubbering fool. "Huh? Yes. I.." What had brought her to become Elias' date to the ball? "He threatened to toss another stone at my head. I'm here completely against my will, can you believe that?" Though her tone made it seem as though her response had been truthful, a subdued smile soon rose to her features. "Do you not have a date, Callie? Or did the, ah, boy there come with you?" Naturally, the boy in question was Thomas. Calling him a shrimp outright would be disrespectful.

Niche would adjust his hat one more time before pulling up the dark scarf that would obscure the lower half of his face. Satisfied he would continue his way towards the ballroom with long strides as his robes billowed behind him with every step he took towards his destination. A fine black mask would sit snugly on the bridge of his nose and over his eyes, causing only small parts of his visage to be visible. His wand was at the ready, sitting in its wand holster around his hip, attached to the belt. It would take him a second to hex anyone into oblivion if they just dared to stand in his way. This day had a purpose as had every social event, as such it was important to seek and achieve. And achieve he did, having had one of the more powerful wizards of his year to be his company for the evening. A confident smile curled at the corners of his mouth as his cold eyes were void of much emotion. As he entered the room finally he caught sight of who he would call a date for the evening. Niche had arrived and he was fashionably wait and as he had guessed the boy was waiting for him, making the corner of his lip curl further up as he approached the blonde.

He extended his hand, covered by a thin glove made of black silk, with his palm up as he gave a slight bow; meanwhile he was not averting his gaze from the boy. "May I have this dance, Kheanu," he allowed himself to say in his thick Swedish accent as he straightened up his posture giving the other boy a charming but cool smile. He had a fairly good memory of this boy and had good reason to ask him to be his date for this ball. After all the two of them were on the more... capable side of their school and being seen together would do good for both their image and reputation. But Nichlas was not that shallow, this had been for more reason. Whatever the reason, it was not apparent in the way he behaved but it would hardly matter. He was a charming and handful man so there would be no loss on Kheanu's side. A thing the boy knew was that he would have Kheanu as an ally rather than an opponent and considering that he had knocked the other boy over, he could be sure the feeling was mutual. They both knew of each others capabilities and he was sure if Kheanu didn't know of his strength he would not have to agree to become his company for the evening. Smug and cold, yet weirdly calm and calculated. At least for now, as no one really knew when the hotheaded wizard would snap.

Viola sashayed into the ballroom. She assessed the place, then decided without a single hint of bias that the Tempete mansion's ballroom was far superior in quality compared to this rotting mess. She even decided that the entire school could be described by that simple phrase; a rotting mess. She was growing homesick. She missed her family and her house and her house elves. The house elves here served out of respect and love for the residents of the castle; in the Tempete mansion, house elves served out of fear, and fear alone.

As they should, thought Viola, it is their rightful place after all. They exist to serve, so what are they without their purpose? Everything and everyone has a purpose, and they exist to fulfil that purpose, and nothing else. It's common sense.

She then shook the thought off. She feared she was now talking about more than the house elves, and she did not have the time nor the motivation to unpack anything behind her thoughts.

She distracted herself by feeling absolute pity for herself. She had not a date for the ball. She had thought her parents would have arranged it, and they had, but apparently "some things had come up". Viola was used to it by now. She knew it meant they had forgotten. She was not even close to being the most important thing in their lists. They did not prioritise her.

But they cared. They did care, Viola knew that. They were just important people with important things to do. Her mother, Lola, had her business, and her father, Lucien, had his. It was a lot of work, and Viola would have to be an ungrateful, unappreciative, disloyal child to argue with it.

If she were to look at the bright side of things, Hogwarts did come with an advantage. A lot of relatively attractive boys and girls. If she wanted, Viola could easily pick up a boy toy or three. Maybe a girl toy or two as well. She looked around for any possible victims. Unfortunately, it seemed that most people had dates, which did nothing but remind Viola her lack of one.

So, she walked towards the centre of the place, and looked around for people.

I’m late. I’m late again. I’m late again and again.

If one was not busy at all that day, and had time to walk around the castle and wander in the courtyard, they would probably see a boy hurrying into the castle. Maxi had spent a long time wandering alone in the grounds, analyzing the situation. His grandfather arranged him a date, who was definitely lovely in anyone’s eyes, but now, he was not obeying the instruction. Sylvie Everett was a good girl, and he had never doubted that. Though clearly, he wasn’t going to the ball with her…with his fiancée.

Instead of the brunette, another face showed up. The blonde, named Elise. A beautiful name, isn’t it? It was good to learn that such a pretty name matched such a pretty person. And he asked her. Asked her to be his date. And she accepted.

The best thing of life was probably, when you laid your eyes on someone secretly, they laid their eyes on you as well. Maxi was pretty sure that Elise would love to go to the ball with him from her heart — not simply because she didn’t have a date. So he would gonna stay with her tonight, and forget everything — about his fiancée, his father, his family, and all the pureblooded things.

So there he was — in front of the ballroom. Many people had already arrived. And he knew he was late. Hopefully Elise could already be there, waiting — no, a goddess shouldn’t be waiting for such a long time — she should be severed first, always.

Ah, there she was — probably the most beautiful one in the room. Maximilien walked forward, smiling, and gave her a hand. “Mademoiselle Elise. Such a pleasure.” his gentle dark gray eyes sparkled with delight. He had got the best girl tonight — and he was sure that they would have a great time. His eyes fell on the people who had already started dancing. “Wanna dance?”

And he bowed slightly. “May I?”

As they were dancing katherine was just looking at him all she could see were smiles and grins at some point he pushed katherine closer to him because of a couple who were dancing at least he has the decency to push her away from them he kept on listening to what katherine said as if it was music to his ears he did apologise to katherine if he had offended her and said its rare to find someone like her.Katherine had a gut feeling it was all empty words god it was a mistake that she warmed up to him all she thought in her head is why he was being a huge narcissistic bastard she couldn't care she felt it was fake she wanted to roll her eyes bad, she responded to his comment"I guess",
she felt his eyes tracing how she looked like she continued dancing acting like she didn't notice it .

Soon later they glided past another couple but she noticed he was too focused on gliding past them then to her words and watched as he cocked his head, all she thought was"uhh could he be even worse than this it looks fake ill just have to continue i had to warm up to this bastard huh nice move katherine good job you've officially messed up" he responded saying he would remember her , katherine doubted him well she definitely remembered a face and a family name especially when someone has very unique and sharp features after a while when the music slowed down they were almost swaying he responded that he wasn't as put together , god she thought to herself well i bet he was trying to be decent but deep in that monstrous head of his I bet it was some sort of fake narcissistic lie she had nothing to say but respond to him saying"mhm sure be decent", she wanted to roll her eyes badly but that would be rude she did it internally it was all a joke to her.

He also said that she was quite kind god katherine and kind dont get put together she said"Ya don't get used to it", she said with a straight face while looking at him, her cheek bones were sharp and noticeable her whole face bones were defined
she watched as he merely smiled when she laughed god does this guy have facial muscles to frown or get angry or does his face muscles only do smiles and grins she thought to herself as they stopped and they walked off the dance floor well to katherine it was quite the shortest dance she had the ones her parents hosted would go on for hours at least he saved her from leg pain.

he turned to katherine and asked her for a drink at this point katherine was quite shocked but didn't show it that he would actually continue with her after all ,the games had just began although she did get curious why did he ask her about her family or about her and what was his family name god if it was one of our enemies or fathers enemies she would get in trouble making alliances with him she responded"didnt think you would ask but sure", she said to him softly with a soft smile and determined eyes wishing he wasn't someone his father hated as they got drinks she asked "hey I was wondering you haven't told me your family name i'm guessing your are a pure blooded rich family ,So the huge question is which family are you from", she said with a straight face and determined to know but inside of her head she was wishing it wasn't a family shed regret dancing with god if it was, what would her father say it would destroy our family image at this point she was begging in her head saying" please don't let this judgemental narcissistic bastard be from any family that my parents hated", all she had to do was wait for the suspense after all the game was still on and he was her little target until she knows who he truly is.

Aurelia, she was facing crisis. As much as she would preferred to remain calm as she prepared for the ball, there was a flaw in her outfit that needed to be fixed urgently. The girl had spent a little more than an hour dolling herself up, paying special attention to her silky brown locks which she had used the hair colouring charm to alter with. Her soon adorned the lovely grey-blue hue identical to that of those alluring pair of eyes. Upon her request for an outfit to the event, her parents had sent another commendable dress to her. Aurelia was impressed with their choice of dress and mask that came with it.

The cool tones of a seashore was pleasant to the eyes, it was a beautiful piece. Although it had been sitting in her wardrobe for about a week, Aurelia had never tried it on not until that morning, the day of the ball. It was then that she noticed the flaw. Her parent were oblivious to the many scars that marked her back. The bareback design of the dress might have as well been a frame displaying all those pieces that had accumulated over the years. Aurelia would try to resolve the issue herself with makeup, however, access to her own back was not an easy feat. After a while, Aurelia would abandon her efforts.

The next-to last thing she wanted was to keep Hadrian Zuheir, her betrothed waiting on her. The last thing she wanted was him to notice the ugly marks that littered her back. She would require some assistance. Aurelia shortly found herself in the ballroom. Her eyes would scan around searching for anyone she new, the masks obscuring the faces certainly made it a challenge to identify. Fortunately for Aurelia, a particular the intimate exchanges of a particular couple caught her attention.

The boy had sickly pale skin contrasting drastically to the dark suit he wore and more distinctive to his appearance was those crimson pupils that seemed to glow under the shadow of his mask. The non-human enthusiast could tell a dhampir from a mile away, especially one who nearly killed a year ago. The girl's outfit was as dark as her partner's. There was no one Aurelia knew that was comfortable with Howard than Falentra Black. The very person she was looking for.

Falentra and Howard was having a very good time when the sky-blue haired girl interrupted. A tap on Falentra's shoulder. Although she looked very different than the usual with sky-blue hair from brunette and a lighter, vibrant makeup than her usual shadowed eyelids, Aurelia made no effort at confirming her identity. The crisis at hand left no time for pleasantries. The non-human enthusiast was well aware that Dhampirs had great senses but regardless if Howard recognised her, Aurelia would merely say, "My apologies for interrupting your moment, Falentra, I require your assistance."

"Desperately," she added, the word hushed. But before she continued, the girl noticed the drinks in both of their hands. Pumpkin, but she knew very well that it was not simply pumpkin. She would take the cup from Falentra followed by a quick swig which would confirm the speculations of a spiked drink. She would then hand the beverage to Howard after. The heat of the drink would overwhelm her tastebuds and the back of her throat, it did not hit as heavy as the last time they drank right from the bottle given that it was diluted "Hold this, Falentra would need both her hands with this task." Aurelia would then grasp the girl's forearm to lead her away. Even then, it was likely that a dhampir like Howard would be perfectly capable at eavesdropping into their conversation.

Aurelia would produce a tube of skin coloured liquid that she extended to the girl. "You and Howard seem to be getting along, " The gryffindor stated, with a smirk playing on her lips. "I really didn't want to interrupt, but -" Aurelia would turn her back against the raven-haired girl. There was not many who had seen her scars, but Falentra had. "I need your help, please. My betr - date, I mean would could be arriving any moment, he wouldn't take it well if he sees them."

I briskly navigated my way down to the ballroom. I wondered how I was going to find my date. she had not exactly told me what she was going to be wearing, not have I informed her about my own outfit. It had been a about a week since we last talked, I had been a brief one high up in the quidditch stands. I could not believe it when I found out that she had been on the team, it was through great persuasion and charm had I convince her to drop the sport. She was quite strong willed, I will give her that. But quidditch was dangerous and nothing a lovely young lady like Aurelia should ever think about participating in. As expected, there was a great amount of people already in the facility in all sorts of outfits and masks. It would come as a challenge as I manoeuvred through the crowds in search for the Notresvace.

Hearing that Elias had basically threatened Valerie into being his date to the ball wasn't surprising but that didn't stop Callie from flicking his head in protest. While it was rather obvious Valerie was joking to some degree judging by the slight smile that crept onto her features, Callie opted to ignore it in favour of making fun of Elias. Making fun of her fellow Ravenclaw was simply a duty that Callie had to uphold at all costs, no matter the circumstance. "You little worm!" Callie eventually cried out in response, briefly stopping herself from eating her precious jellybeans to do so. "I knew you were caught up on not having a date!" She pointed at Elias accusingly with a singular finger and a joking grin across her face. "I always knew you were in the dumb camp of weirdos obsessed with that sort of thing!" She let out a laugh before tucking into the jellybeans once again, clearly not taking the situation seriously. "He's a terrible dancer you know, Valerie. Better watch out for your toes! You might lose some!" Callie added with a mischevious grin across her face. Maybe one day she'd stop her general abuse towards Elias but today certainly wasn't that day, especially given the constant risk of Thomas and Elias bickering. Callie may have continued to break up their fights where she could but these days her sympathies tended to lay with Thomas. What kind of duelling partner would she be anyway if she didn't back Thomas up? A terrible one, that's what.

When Valerie brought up the idea of Thomas being her date Callie let out a bright laugh. It wasn't that Thomas wasn't charming in his own strange way, it was mainly that she viewed the boy as a brother more than anything. However Valerie's words seemed to imply there was something..detrimental about Thomas being her 'date' which Callie didn't entirely appreciate. Perhaps she was simply reading too closely into the situation but Callie felt a strange urge to defend the boy's honour. Even if he was an insufferable little worm who needed a punch in the face sometimes, he was still one of Callie's closest friends. "Thomas here," Callie corrected her use of the term 'boy' with a graceful smile and a surprisingly firm tone. "Isn't my date! That would be so weird, he's my duelling partner silly! Buuut doesn't he scrub up weirdly well? It's still strange seeing him with brushed hair." Callie gestured vaguely to Thomas' head to emphasise her point further. "Besides having dates is for old weirdos anyway! No offence, it's just that I don't really care about all that mumbo jumbo. As my brother once said, dating is for lonely weirdos who lack entertainment in their lives." Callie smiled cheerfully even if her words were anything but. "Sure he said that after a SUUPER bad breakup that I made fun of him for being so broken up about..but still!" Callie laughed and opted to move the subject on a little. "Have you guys had any of the food yet? THERE'S SO MANY SWEETS, it's like heaven."

The Slytherin followed in Howards actions by taking a quick swig from the glass, though not as much. The burning sensation was defiantly there, but not as harsh as when she tried it straight. Still, Falentra pulled a bit of a face before licking the rested off her lips. It was such a sweet taste and not one she was overall fond of but with such a mixture it actually tasted pretty good. ''Mm, fair good is this. You gotta come up with a name for it now. Start sellin' it to make a few bob.'' She joked and threw him a playful smirk before taking another small sip.

Everyone before them looked like they were having lots of fun. Some were dancing already whilst others were in small groups enjoying themselves. Falentra glanced up at Howard in between. His face seemed to have changed to a worried one as he looked ahead with her. Was he worried about dancing? Before she could question his expressions more he would bring up that exact thought. She wasn't sure if that was him treuly hinting that the pair should dance or not but she wanted to reassure him that it wasn't needed. ''We ain't gotta dance you know. We can stand here and mock everyone's dance moves.'' Falentra nudged herself into him gently, not enough to make his drink spill. ''Besides, we'd show them all up.'' A small chuckle would follow. If he was to ask her anyway, she would have accepted with a large amount of nerves but nonetheless still accepted. She really wasn't the best of dancers but the thought of them having there first dance would have been cute, even if they did suck at it.
Her attention was brought back to the crowd before them. It was hard to tell who a lot of them were behind those masks, but some were blatantly obvious. One being Thomas Lestrange. She had never spoken to him before, though she only took such a notice of the boy for the brief memory of him was him cheering loudly for Howard during the Quidditch match. She was for sure intrigued. Anyone who knew Howard surely caught her attention. ''That lad there. You know him?'' Falentra asked the Hufflepuff with her finger extended outwards to the fellow Slytherin. It was rude to point... not that she cared, but simply saying that lad could have been aimed at anyone.

She was awaiting to hear his response. Her cold stare was fixed on Thomas in the meantime, trying to make what she could of him.

Aurelia then appeared in front of the pair out of thin air. Where did she come from? Falentra didn't have much time to think that far ahead for the Gryffindor blurted out with a look of anxiousness. At first, it took her a moment to recognise who it was. It was the accent that gave it away. Falentra looked up at Howard quickly as she spoke of needing her assistance. She hoped he didn't mind, though it seemed like she had no other choice. Before she knew it, she was being led to a more secluded area. Falentra followed willingly despite the look of confusion on her face. ''You alright Aurelia?'' She asked in concern while her expressions softened back to it usual look of boredom. The girl spoke of her and Howard as she turned with her back now in full view. Falentra didn't respond. She was too busy listening and observing. No look of disgust would make its way to her face but instead a small frown. She wished she could accept her scars but knew with having so many out on show was a lot to ask. Rather than attempt to persuade her she took to the tube and started to apply the paint gently over her scars. ''It's fine.'' She reassured Aurelia as she apologised once again. ''Your date?'' She questioned the girl, a brow raising as she stopped part way through the application. He wouldn't take it well if he sees them. Falentra wouldn't respond straight away. Instead she let out a loud sigh. One of frustration, anger and annoyance. ''Sounds like a dick. You shouldn't be covering these for him. Only for yourself.'' Falentra rested her hand on the others shoulder as she spoke with yet more concern. How could someone make her think such a thing. He sounded like a perfect punching bag for Falentra. ''Well I think you look like a goddess.'' The Slytherin followed up quickly and smiled. It didn't take her long to finish off the application despite the amount of scars she did have. ''All done.'' Falentra walked around to face the other once more, reaching forward to adjust some of her hair to how it originally was. She couldn't tell if the expressions she wore held nerves for the ball or for her date. Maybe both. But she didn't have to be alone if she didn't want to, or if she didn't want to ask such a thing. ''You want me and Howard to stick with you? Or you gonna be alright? Cause if that lads a dick with you I'll sort him out no problem.'' Falentra held up a playful fist, trying to lighten the subject. ''Come on, let's go back ya lil beaut.'' She held out her hand for the other to take. If she didn't Falentra would wait until the other walked beside her to head back towards where they had already came from.
