They have to get validated by staff first, which takes around a day or two, depending on how many people are in the validation list. After that, they will be able to post. Also, if you accidentaly double post you can always delete your most recent message and edit the one beforehand, so that it will not count as spamming.

Is the bus a private school bus? If so you can try to call the school when you get home and they can contact the bus company.

If it's a public transit bus, they should have a lost and found that you can call tomorrow to find out if it was found/turned in.
