they can be, or less than half - some could have been turned into a dhampir before Hogwarts and were born human. Depends on what route you want to take.

Our hio site lore is that the Ministry issues them a daily ration that they have to take in order to be allowed to attend Hogwarts.

Simon always put his in fruit juice because he already hates sweet tasting things like fruit juice and therefore it would help counter the taste and also be something he could associate as bad tasting since he hated that "monster" aspect of himself. When he went to stay with his father (a vampire), he eventually had to drink it straight, no fruit juice, and he learned that he loved it. He hated that aspect at first but in his journey he's learned to accept what he is.

ooooo thats really interesting!! scout is still very veryyyyy anti blood right now, she wont even eat it with meals at home....... but i might take a page out of your book and give her a horrible realization that she does in fact, not hate the taste of blood >:]
