ROUND 11
Exhaustion was making itself known on both teams. With one player down and whisked off to the Hospital Wing, Team One also lost their very own accidental baby attack badger to the dangers of natural, unrefined ice. Even what felt like half a year having passed didn't make anyone a professional at ice skating. This much was also true for Team Two's Willow Anderson, who must have lost all focus for a while there as she tumbled across her own skates just to fall face first against the ground to join her teammate Cassandra Ironwoods. Take the time to make some victory bracelets for your opponents, girls!Balance Check DC5

Clearly distracted by the cruelty of his teammate, @Thomas Lestrange's experience finally proved not to be enough for @Dealla Prince's downright ridiculous beginner's luck. With the puck attached to her blade she managed to bypass Team Two's Defence without a scratch, aimed her shot and sent the puck whizzing into the net behind Thomas. About time that someone ended this game; Ruka had started to feel like he could have vanished for three months and not missed anything - except the swift exchange of a couple of players - in the meantime!Initiative: Dealla vs Ileen

Ending the Mod Post here would have saved me a lot of time.
With how quickly the last goal of the game happened, nobody would have faulted @Kazuo Shimada for dashing towards any dark spot on the ice to try and snatch it for his own team but, while clearly tempted to go for a speck of snow close by Team Two's goal, the Hufflepuff was perceptive enough to realise that Dealla had led them to victory, so all that was left to do now was celebrate!Initiative: Ileen vs Kazuo

@Jake Morris had asked for a time out, and like anybody else with a heart, the Universe could not resist giving him whatever it was he wanted. Despite the whistle sounding across the lake and pronouncing the game as finished, Team Two's @Ileen Knight decided that things weren't over until she said they were, so after taking a smidgen too long to steal the puck from Dealla, she dove past Thomas and into her own Team's Goal to lead the puck back onto the ice. Intent on keeping the game going despite the final goal having been scored, @Alan Vanes decided to skid towards his own team mate to steal a puck she had stolen from her own team mate, but Ileen was quick and graceful in steering the puck out of the Gryffindor's reach. Handsome and well-balanced, @Flash Holmwood proved himself to be more than just a pretty face as his superior intellect allowed him to conclude that there was no puck for him to snatch as the only one on the field was currently possibly aimlessly manoeuvred across the ice by Ileen who was very unwilling to let go of it. The lake was full of little imperfections, shadows and other things that could potentially be mistaken for the puck, but @Henry Knight was not one to be fooled. Realising that his team had lost and there was no need to hunt for the puck anymore, he decided not to go after the faint shadow of a fish swimming past under the ice.Henry

@Cassandra Ironwoods had had every intention of throwing herself against someone on Team One, but instead she had spent the whole round on the ground with @Willow Anderson, possibly making friendship bracelets, hopefully putting Hello Kitty bandaids on Willow's face. Only after the commotion of the final round died down and everyone was ready to wrap up with some celebrations and leisurely skating across the lake did they both get themselves back on their feet again.Cassandra

Hopefully joining them at some post-game celebrations was @Opeila Winters, who had been able to relax for the last round. What a blessing to be guarding a net that was so rarely under attack!

Ileen was rushed towards her so called best friend who had just hurt her with her words deeper than the young Slytherin would admit. Dee knew exactly that Ileen had sworn to never harm someone. Especially not as seriously as Lydia who was unconscious by now. It had been an accident. And already tortured by guilt and shock, these words hurt even more, because she knew.
This particular situation made Ileen even more determined to steal the puck from Dee before she had the chance to try to score again.
However, her friend seemed to be at least as determined as Ileen herself and was a little too quick for her. As she nearly reached her, she shot at the goal - and scored.
Ileen didn’t mind that the game was over. She did mind though that the person had ended it who had just insulted her. Normally, she would have laughed at Lestrange for not saving it this time and probably even cheered for Dee. But the young girl was not in the right place for these feelings at the moment.
Without looking at the Slytherin prefect or Dee, Ileen didn’t care to stop her momentum and skated right into the goal, right behind the puck and ready to take it with her. “Better late than never,” she muttered more to herself, but Lestrange or Dee might have heard that. She easily took the puck from her own goalie and skated back on the ice with it, not sure what to do with it though.
It had just felt awkward to be at the goal without doing anything… From the corner of her eye she saw someone rushing at her and automatically dodged, anticipating another attack, but it was only Alan who probably had tried to stay in the game a few seconds longer.
Ileen shot the puck vaguely in the direction of Opeila and offered everyone from the other team except for Kazuo and Dealla a smile. “Good game. That was fun.” And turned out to be her personal war with two people she didn’t expect.
Ileen didn’t mind they lost. Of course, she would be happier if they had won, but she still had some business to take care of. She was angry and disappointed and now had to vent. Her brown eyes squinted, she gave Henry a disparaging look and drew her wand. The next words were not loud enough to be heard. “Time to fulfill the prophecy, huh? The stars approved.” Indeed, Ileen had made an oath to hex people with the sneezing hex as soon as they said something stupid - which was basically everything to her she would disagree with. He had made fun of her, he had laughed at her! In her opinion, she had to act now. She pointed her wand at Henry and whispered the incantation, sending a sneezing hex his way.Since she would never hurt anyone on purpose, this jinx was her favorite one. This gave her some satisfaction at least. Seeing the boy sneeze. Served him right!Reducio

Kazuo had seriously been considering pulling out his wand and risking a penalty. The other team's tactics - if you could even call them that - had worn at his patience and, in his opinion, turned what was meant to be a friendly game into a pointlessly violent free for all. They looked like they weren't even trying to play the game anymore.
His eyes tracked Dee as she raced toward the net and he sighed softly as he pushed off, following behind her to catch the rebound if she missed. He would not lower himself to their level by cheating. He wanted a fair win. Not because he had any particular moral opposition to cheating - rather, because it would make the win that much sweeter and rub in the fact that the cheaters and bullies didn't actually win with their shitty tactics.
He was practically holding his breath as Dee took her shot, eyes widening with surprise as she finally managed to get past Thomas' impressive guard. He let out an excited and triumphant whoop at the goal. "YES! Good job Dee!" He slowed to a stop then, grinning as he pulled out his wand. Now that they'd won, he had no reason hold back. With a quick flick of his wand at Thomas and a "Tarantallegra!" he shot the Dancing Feet spell in Thomas direction. Sadly it missed but he grinned anyway. "Hey Lestrange, good game!" He offered with a cheeky grin.
He turned back to the rest of his team, skating toward where Jake had fallen and offering the pillow monster a hand up. "Good job, Jake! We won! You did a great job defending our net. Truly our MVP. And we get the best reward for winning… hot chocolate and snacks." He encouraged Jake enthusiastically, pointing to the makeshift tables.
His gaze scanned over the rest of the players, making mental note of the behaviors they had exhibited during the game, neatly categorizing them into two primary categories of 'charming' and 'tedious'. It had been an interesting experience and despite the questionable behavior of Team 2, he had fun. He headed toward Ruka, giving the older boy a smile. "Thank you for hosting. It was fun."

Experience showed that speed was of the essence. As soon as you were in puck possession, half of the other team would come rushing at you, trying either to steal it back or just to knock you out, and Dee wasn't planning on letting either happen. Hence, speed.
Thankfully, Lydia had already been headed towards the goal when she'd lost the puck, and now, so was Dee, rushing forward, sacrificing grace for time. Of course, Thomas Lestrange had likely had plenty of time to prepare, but at least none of the defense players stood between them, so Dee just stuck his tongue out at him before twisting her body to the side to take her shot.
Truthfully speaking, Dee couldn't claim much responsibility for scoring. She could skate decently and aim vaguely in direction of the net, but the precise way in which the puck whizzed past the Slytherin and into the net had nothing to do with her aim. Thankfully, no one could force her to speak truthfully, so she'd gladly take all the credit.
The next part, however, was very much her responsibility. There was still some way to the goal, someone was cheering behind her. She could likely have tried to avoid, changed course, even attempted to brake properly, the way Ruka had tried to teach her. But, well, screw it. Some petty payback for the (literal) name-calling he'd done earlier was exactly what she needed right now. Thus, no such attempt was made, and instead, Dee went to cheerfully crash into the already defeated goalie.

Impaired hit.
Sadly, after her earlier successes, Dee slightly underestimated how difficult it was to properly body-check someone, to direct her speed and strength while navigating the skates still on her feet. Also, Ileen was suddenly there in the goal, distracting her, and Dee blinked, a little confused. So instead of the triumphant tackle she'd envisioned, Dee just sort of half-stumbled into Thomas Lestrange, almost losing her balance in the process.
Well. She'd still won, so she supposed that was something she could cling to to save her pride. Putting on the most insincere smile she could manage, she straightened up to look up at him, suddenly wishing she was just a little taller. Was he really the same year as her? But no matter, she could look down on people even if they towered over her. "Oops. Accident. Can't brake, you know. Must sting to lose, though. Not that I'd know." At least in hockey she didn't, and he probably didn't know about her duelling record. Of course, despite his loss today, Thomas Lestrange had gained a much more effective weapon to use against her, and it seemed like he knew it, too. Still - even more reason to milk the moment for all it was worth.
Turning away and skating off, Dee grinned at her team mates and started to untie the blue piece of cloth from her wrist. "Good job, guys!" she called, magnanimous now that she'd secured victory, and also spared a smile for Willow, Alan, and finally Ruka.
But just before she changed direction to join Kazuo and Ruka at the edge of the field, she heard a familiar voice calling a familiar incantation and flinched, half-expecting to be the target of Ileen's sneezing hex - only to notice it fly past her, hitting an already snot-nosed Henry instead. Dee could feel the corner of her mouth quirk up, amusement spreading. Perhaps her earlier words had been a little harsh, after all.

Alan huffed slightly as they had lost the game, the puck just really did not like they team could it be? Alan would with a light smirk transfigure the puck into a bird, after being reminded of the game they had played in s.w.a.g where he had turned another object into a bird. At least he had attempted to during that game, now at least he had succeeded, or he would have. He was sure he would have succeeded, the spell looked like it was a success but sadly he had missed it. Barely he dared to say, though he actually was not very sure if that was actually true, the puck was just moving too fast as it was still being played around. He was stopping, though he slid a bit more than he would have liked before he actually managed to properly halt, before he glanced over the sea to watch the rest of the students. A smile appeared on his face, he felt happy to have learned and tried something new and he had a lot of fun so he was not actually bothered that they had lost. Of course it would have been better to win, but it was not too bad to be on the losing end once or twice in a while either he found. After all it was about the game and the time he had enjoyed it rather than how it actually ended.

Jake had hurt so many people. He had knocked down Alan, one of his good friends. He had knocked down that nice boy from the other team. He had knocked down that scary girl he didn't know...It seemed like he could do nothing right. So when he finally tripped once again and hit the ice, this time he stayed down, where he couldn't get hurt and he couldn't hurt anybody else.
When he heard the action stopping, he looked up from the ground, and saw the puck stopping, heard the cheers of some, and realized that it was true - the game had finally come to an end.
"But...I knocked people down..." Jake whined to Kazuo as the other boy helped him back to his feet. He couldn't believe he had really done a good job defending, and he would have felt proud but...how could he be happy if he had done it by hurting his friends?
Still, after such a long day, hot chocolate and snacks sounded just about the best thing there was. Any day outside in the cold needed to end with hot chocolate, it was just a rule. And right now Jake really needed it. As yummy as it was though, Jake would make sure there was enough for everybody. If there wasn't maybe he could give his hot chocolate to somebody he had knocked down, to try to say sorry. He frowned as he looked for them to try to see if they were ok.
As Kaz walked up to Ruka, Jake followed. "Thank you Ruka," he echoed. "Thanks for helping me with the pillows." They were the only thing that had saved his life.
