Magical Race Application

Character Special Race: Dhampir
Application:
Reducio
❝ Artem’s dhampir side began with Meissa De La Cruz, his maker. Meissa was an old friend of his father, the two were schoolmates growing up and remained in contact post graduation. She often visited the couple in their previous home in Naples over the winter. As Alphonse’s (Artem’s father) second hand (wo)man, she attempted to get close to Artemesia in extension. Though, the latter kept a distance from Meissa, still wary of the vampiric woman. Despite that, she remained kind to the woman. For Alphonse, she thought. It was even her who helped them move down to Dover, before disappearing for a couple of years–having left the couple alone after drawing scrutiny from her own kind for her relationship with a wizard. She spent the years in the shadows, helping her rogue brethren avoid starvation from the Ministry’s strict laws. Meissa reunited with the couple at Alphonse’s funeral. Guilty and grieving she attempted to help freshly widowed Artemesia yet the muggle woman was stubborn and refused her help. Hurt, she let her be. It took Artemesia five years to eventually reach out and ask Meissa for help..in taking care of her son and teaching him about his father’s world. She spent the next three years as a live-nanny in the Lavigne Estate. Artem was endearingly exhausting but it was worth it, for Alphonse, she thought. And for Artemesia. Meissa developed feelings.

When Artem turned eight became a first generation Dhampir. Meissa had attempted to transform him into one of her kind in order to prove her loyalty, love and bind herself to Artem’s mother–after the latter had rejected her affection. She believed that having Artem as her ‘sire’ would guarantee herself a place in Artemisia's (Artem’s mother) forever and hopefully, with enough time, love. However, the ritual failed from his first instance of magic manifested as a bright light that burned her, sabotaging the process and perpetually left stuck in a body split between vampires and humans.

When Artemesia returned from a business trip, and came home to the horrific scene, she suffered a severe mental breakdown and was institutionalised in a Muggle psychiatric hospital shortly after. The nanny had twisted the truth: a failing vineyard, a troublesome child and years of suppressed stress and mourning had left poor Artemesia bed-bound. Since that unfortunate night, the vineyard has been in Artem’s name; however, due to his young age, Meissa became his legal guardian and took over the operation.

Meissa had restructured the vineyard into an underground operation to benefit her fellow vampires, distributing blood as wine to unregistered vampires under the ministry’s nose. Distributing blood illegally was frankly hard work, Meissa, ever the connoisseur and inventor, frequently experimented with the production of wine–creating special formulas with blood, and some without blood to ward off suspicion from the ministry. Sometimes, Artem was allowed to taste test these special wines from time to time.

After his turning, Artem’s features shifted. While Artem could pass for a normal human however upon closer inspection, there are a few details that reveal his true nature. Artem’s usual olive complexion is dull from the lack of vitamin D, his skin becoming corpse-like as a side effect from being a dhampir. As an outdoorsy kid, he regularly mourns that the ‘sun’ despises him–often receiving painful and blistering sunburns even from a minute of contact. The severity of these sunburns had confined Artem to the Lavigne Estate during sunny days, where spent the hours napping. When the moon rose, Artem ventured around the vineyard, practising archery, digging gold or running amok by his lonesome. All his peers tucked into bed while he revelled alone in the dark.

His eyes are a scarlet red, vibrant yet it corrupts into an abyssal black as his pupils expand in the dark. Lastly, his usual grin is noticeably missing his canines. His gums are hiding a pair of retractable baby fangs. They often come out when he feels excited or terrified, the latter usually followed by a kitten-like hiss. ❞

PART I: Civil Twilight
❝ Artemio Avarici (Formerly known as Artemio Lavigne) is a young wizard, born to a wizard father, Alphonse Lavigne (né Avarici) and a muggle mother, Artemisia Lavigne. The couple moved from bustling Naples, Italy, to the peaceful town of Dover, England–to live out their dream: Artemisia’s wine-making business, Alphonse’s art and raising their child.
Unfortunately, their dream was shattered when Alphonse died in their underground cellars, bleeding out from his injuries from a duel with an unhappy investor. Artem was barely 12 months old when his father parted. Heartbroken, hyper-independant, and caffeinated, Artemesia raised Artem on her own while handling her vineyard. Due to Artemisia’s influence, the wizarding world played little part in Artem’s life. His mother knew little of the world, and her husband’s grisly fate made her hesitant in indulging information to her precious son. Eventually, Artemisia reached out to her late husband’s old friend, Meissa, a vampire for help, when their weary elderly relative couldn’t keep up with the five-year-old Artem. Energetic and far too exasperating even to his fellow peers at daycare.

PART II: Nautical Twilight
Meissa continued to work with the Lavignes for several years. Throughout the span, she developed feelings for the lady of the estate. Underneath the moonlight and grapevine, she confessed, yet Artemisia rejected her feelings out of loyalty to her late husband. Her heart is always with him–as Artem. Unsatisfied with the outcome, Meissa attempted to turn eight-year-old Artem into a vampire while his mother was away on a business trip. To bind her to Meissa, once Artem became her spawn (son), she would have no choice. However, Artem’s first instance of magic had manifested during the ritual, sabotaging the transformation. Not quite a vampire, not quite human either.

He became a dhampir.

PART III: Astronomical Twilight
Artemisia returned home to the horrific scene and suffered a severe mental breakdown and was institutionalised in a Muggle psychiatric hospital shortly after. Meissa had covered up the truth; a failing vineyard, a troublesome child and years of suppressed stress and mourning had left poor Artemesia bed-bound.

Sourcing her precious bottled blood is a difficult task. As an ethical woman, they obtained it through purchasing it off desperate muggles and squibs. However, Meissa’s main source comes from harvesting blood from muggles, conducted in the underground cellars. Most of her innocent donors are left alive after the sessions. They usually wake up with fuzzy memories the night before, though most blame it on the strong alcohol that they consumed prior. The donors are left none the wiser, much like Artem who is unaware of such activities being conducted in his home. Due to the rule that vampires cannot legally own or operate a wizarding estate, Artem’s surname was changed to his father’s, Avarici, presenting him as a proper half-blood to ward off suspicion.

The night of his turning became a blurred memory for Artem. All he knew was that his mother was shipped off to the sick place, and Meissa was his new mum..No. His ‘Maker’ is what she often referred to herself as. Under her care he became more aware of the wizarding world, learning the truth of his late father and the world he had denied being a part of. Meissa taught him the basics of the secret world. After his mother’s departure, Meissa practically raised Artem as one of her own. She grew fond of him despite the unlucky circumstance of years ago, often guilty of sometimes spoiling the boy. Yet, she is unafraid to reclaim such lavish items when he incites the slightest annoyance from her.

From that incident, Artem had been confined to the Lavigne Estate most of the day. If he wasn’t at his primary school, he was stuck inside the estate. The sunlight had irritated his skin! Ouch! Forcing him to turn into a nocturnal creature of the night. By his lonesome, he practiced archery by himself by the vineyard, digging gold, passing the time or annoying the vampires that often occasionally visited their estate for some unknown business that he was NOT privy to–before Meissa eventually shoo’ed him away.

His boredom was never ending. Even for a little kid, his thirst for adventure was ravenous. It was almost on par with his greed. Fret not, When he turned 11, his cure to boredom arrived in the form of an owl delivering a letter. Hogwarts? Meissa, reluctant to let him attend, eventually changed her decision after weeks of non-stop pestering and promises from the boy himself. ❞

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
❝ Artem demonstrated his first instance of magic at the age of eight, as a response to the danger of the vampire turning ritual. It manifested as a temporary blinding light that emanated from his skin, stunning the vampire and flung her across the room. Severing the connection that allowed him to escape the vampiric curse. ❞

The Gift of the Sight was a fickle thing.

The Kwongs, March’s maternal family members, coveted their Seers greatly; the moment one was discovered among the branch families, their family would be almost instantly elevated in the eyes of the head family. His great-grandfather 鄺宇轩 Kwong Yuxuan was the last Seer of all the Kwong families and the head’s right hand man. Offering intuitions and visions into the best possible future, he was able to advise the head as to which business ventures would be most lucrative, which family members were seeking to challenge his authority, and which gambles were worth the risk taking. Many of the current generation of Kwongs had their name chosen by Yuxuan, who held the final say on what was auspicious and what was not.

When Yuxuan fathered children, everyone had waited with bated breath to see if any of his progeny would awaken their Inner Eye. None did. His children then had children of their own. No Seers. Only wizards and witches, and embarrassingly, a gaggle of Squibs. When Yuxuan inevitably passed, his grandchildren lost the favor that they had once held from the head of the main family. They were no longer useful, and, in the eyes of some, they were hardly magical.

The Yeungs, March’s paternal family members, had no obvious ties to the Sight nor the Inner Eye. At least, not as far as they were aware. Such records of the Sight had been lost to movement across continents, the fallibility of memory, and the secrecy of time, but the fact remains; generations and generations upon generations ago, a Seer married a muggle man, and with the urging of her visions, they ran from her wizarding family together. They would raise children of their own, but this latent genetic gift would not show its face again within her lifetime, or her children’s lifetime, or grandchildren’s lifetime (and so on and so forth).

It would not show its face, that is, until the evening of December 21st, 2024.

…The man was following them.

March could feel a chill squeeze nauseatingly into the marrow of his bones, and he gripped MaaMaa’s hand tighter. He wasn’t sure how he knew where to look, but he had made eye contact with the unfamiliar stranger more than just a few times, catching him through the dwindling crowd of people. Each time his eyes had lingered, and each time, March ducked his head quickly, not wanting to draw any more attention to himself or his grandmother.

Maybe it was just a coincidence. Maybe he was just another friendly pedestrian. It got so dark and cold in December, so quickly. The lights from the street didn’t feel strong enough against the night sky, as he and MaaMaa made their way to the Blue Line.

Maybe they were just headed the same way. Three sets of feet moved in unison. He and MaaMaa stopped, waiting for the tram to arrive. The third slowed, just a few paces away. Foolishly, stupidly, idiotically, March chanced a glance up in that direction.

The stranger was already smiling at him.

They got on the tram, all together, and March tugged his grandmother to sit closer to the doors. The eyes kept staring, staring, staring. March watched the stops fly past as the tram continued blissfully on its route. The number of stops till home was counting down, kept counting down. When was the man getting off the tram? Why wasn’t he getting off the tram?

Their stop arrived. Three sets of feet stepped down and out into the street.

March felt so cold.

The man was following them!

MaaMaa wasn’t stupid either. Her hand had come to circle around March’s thin wrist, squeezing it almost painfully.

Walk closer,” She warned as they set off briskly towards home. March sped up his pace to match her strides.

The asphalt crunched beneath them, and as they swerved around the corner, momentarily outpacing the stranger, something broke in March’s chest. He didn’t know how to describe the exact moment that his intuition struck. It was just… as if a glowstick had snapped, somewhere between the walls of his lungs and the curved bones of his ribs. It filled and constricted the space with a slippery, freezing cold fluid, and he rasped out a shuddering gasp, not knowing that this was his Gift.

All he knew was that he and MaaMaa needed to duck behind the black sedan sitting in the driveway to their right side, right now. Or else.

This way!” March broke into a sprint, tugging her sleeve violently.

They both dropped down into a crouch, just as March caught a flash of the man who had been following them this entire time. He squeezed his eyes shut and willed the man to leave them alone. Please. Please.

The stranger’s footsteps slowed, once more, this time in bewilderment. He paused. Walked closer to the hiding spot where March and MaaMaa lay, shielded by the front of the car and a stinking rubbish bin. He didn’t move for a few minutes, only turning in place, silently scanning the empty street around them. March could hear how close he was to finding them. Only a few more steps away. He held his breath, afraid that the man would see the fog of it rising into the cold air like a smoke signal.

...

...

...Then, at last, the stranger stopped. The footsteps receded, one by one, back the way they came.

March and MaaMaa stayed hidden for a long time after that. The moon was high in the sky by the time they finally stood up, shakily making their way home.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
March doesn’t have a very strong grasp of what his family used to be like, back then, before everything changed. There was no stronger lock and key in the world than a family shame, he supposed, considering the way everyone snapped their mouths shut as soon as he began to pry.

So what March had gathered thus far went a little something like this: he was born on the last winter morning of the year in the maternity ward of Saint Mary’s Hospital. The pregnancy had been an accident, and his mother, April Yeung, suffered greatly all the way up until the moment of delivery; she had lost too much blood and nearly succumbed to death in the process. But thanks to the wonders of modern medicine, the two of them returned mostly intact to their tight little apartment in New Islington, Manchester, U-of-K. For a while, it was just him, his mother, and his father, Anthony Yeung. Then, when March turned two, his grandparents moved in. They were growing old, and YeYe was getting weaker and sicker, so this was the most cost effective solution, to keep everyone nice and cozy and close.

According to MaaMaa, his mother did not like this new living situation. And according to the nasty little kid in the apartment down the hall, nobody else liked it either. His parents would argue up and down at all hours they shared together. March remembers this part a little bit. The stress of being a housewife and a mother and a nurse was too much. His father, however, was unyielding. The men and the women in their household had to each play their parts, and his was to provide, while hers was to submit. (The problem was, however, that his father wasn’t providing enough, and his mother wasn’t submitting enough.)

Life carried on, in its noisy, messy, frightening way, until finally, his mother disappeared when March was five years old. The police came and went, ruled out foul play and homicide, and that was that. The case went cold and stayed cold.

From that point on, it was just him, Baba, MaaMaa, and YeYe. March would learn to respect his father and run errands with his grandmother and care for his grandfather, the way his mother must have done before. He would learn the bus routes to the food bank, and learn the orders from the apothecary, and learn the chores that needed to be done to keep the house beyond reproach. And then, he would learn how to shrink down small; small enough to dodge his father’s anger, small enough to hide from the mean kids in school, small enough that it was almost as if he were never there at all.

That is, until his temper comes burning forth, ruining all his chances at being easy and good. He really was just like his father in this aspect. It made March wonder: what about his mother? What aspects of her did he take? He asks himself these questions again when his letter to Hogwarts arrives, pinched delicately in the beak of an owl.

The answer was far more than he knew. March would believe himself to be a Muggleborn wizard, but in truth, he was a Half-blood. His father was a Muggle, yes, but his mother was a Pure-blood witch formerly known as Aprilis Kwong. The noble blood of the Kwongs ran centuries. They were prestigious, pure-bred, and prolific. Their legacy carved rivers deep and true, flowing and fanning out into streams and streams and streams. As such, there were many familial branches within the clan, each one vying for success and favor from the head of the main family. With favor, the branches were able to make use of the many pots that the family had their fingers in. With misfortune, they ended up like Aprilis’ branch.

Whispered, ridiculed, and shunned, they consisted of a witch mother from a once favored family, a wizard father divorced in shame, one child who became a witch, and three others who stayed Squibs. Aprilis was the only one among her siblings who could perform magic. Aprilis was their only hope of regaining any standing within their clan. Aprilis was their only miracle left. Aprilis could do it all.

And at first, she did. She was academically gifted, socially adept, and obedient, above all else. She became a registered owl Animagus at a young age, graduated, and set her eyes upon working her way up into a role within the wizarding government of Hong Kong. Soon, she found herself beginning to intertwine with the ongoings of those close to the main family. It was working.

The burden kept stacking, and life continued to carry on in its dizzying way, until finally Aprilis couldn’t take it anymore and disappeared. She left behind all the weight sitting on her shoulders, and resurfaced in Muggle Britain where she would meet a Muggle man, and on the last day of winter, have a son that she wrongfully believed to be a Squib. She would write drafts of letters to her mother in regret, enchanting them to appear blank to unknowing eyes, and burn all but one of them. She would never tell a soul the truth about her identity and the existence of magic. And then she would leave and disappear again, when everything became too much once more.

There really was no stronger lock and key in the world than a family shame.

March stared down at the tooth sitting in the middle of his palm. It was a milky white, jagged at the end where it had broken off from his mouth, and tipped in a mixture of blood and saliva. His tongue prodded the spot it had been previously, still in shock. Sure enough, there was a gap where his right side canine was supposed to be. He could taste a tinge of iron in his mouth.

Losing a tooth wasn’t supposed to come as a surprise; after all, it had been wiggly and loose for almost an entire week, and biting into that baby carrot during lunch hadn’t really helped it much. But it was his very first time, and he hadn’t anticipated it to just… fall out in the middle of a lesson about prepositions. (His tooth was outside of his mouth.) The teacher, turning around at just the right moment, rushed over, and March flushed at the sudden attention of all the students in the class.

“Oh, would you look at that!” She smiled at him, bending down to peer at the little thing. “I’ll write you a note for the nurse’s office, dear.”

The eyes followed his exit, and soon, he found himself swinging his legs as he waited for the nurse to come look at him. He stilled them as soon as she walked in, and nodded along as gravely as he could to her diagnosis. A bit of cotton gauze for the gap, a tooth-shaped capsule for his tooth-shaped tooth. A pat of reassurance on the back, and a reminder to tell his parents and tuck the tooth under his pillow for the tooth fairy.

Tooth fairy? March snorted incredulously on his commute home with MaaMaa. He was eight, not stupid. He already knew that the tooth fairy wasn’t real. It was just a made up story for spoiled little babies… but even still, the tooth rattled in his coat pocket the entire ride back. When they finally got inside the elevator up to their apartment floor, March tugged on MaaMaa’s sleeve and showed her the canine and the missing space. She listened to his story of how it happened and asked if it had hurt. March shook his head bravely no, and that was the end of that.

So now he lay awake in bed, doing his best not to toss and turn on the cramped queen sized mattress. MaaMaa lay snoring to his left, and to her left was YeYe, who was a horrifically light sleeper. His eyes fell upon the wall and followed a drip of paint up, up, up to the clock that ticked gently. It was waaaayyy past his bedtime. He should be sleeping, not… whatever this was. March squeezed his eyes tightly shut, trying to will sleep upon his body. No such luck. He opened them again and was greeted by the sight of the tooth-shaped capsule, sitting within arms reach. (His tooth was on top of the bedside dresser.)

The tooth fairy wasn’t real. March knew that already. But… but, maybe just for fun, he could pretend…? Nobody would know, right?

In one careful, silent motion, he popped the cap open and shook the canine out into his hand. Then, he tucked it inside of his pillowcase and settled back down with a deep sigh. Just for fun. Just to pretend.

The next morning, March would shake out his pillow and watch in utter confusion as a silver coin plopped out. It wasn’t a 5p coin or a 10p coin. In fact, it wasn’t any type of coin that he recognized at all. He turned it over and over; both faces were blank and devoid of any features, smooth all the way around. He dug deeper into the pillowcase, eventually turning it inside out and shaking that too. No luck. He couldn’t find his tooth at all, only this strange coin that had taken the place that it should’ve been. Where had it come from? Where had his tooth gone?

With no clue what to do about it, March simply dropped the mysterious coin into his piggy bank. It clinked to the bottom, without fanfare.

Nancy, for as long as she could remember, had always suffered from a kind of nightmare that she vaguely remembered from a very young age. Her mother used to say it was something normal when you're little and afraid of the dark or imaginary monsters. However, little by little, those kinds of dreams became more and more pronounced. They started happening at inconvenient times and in unexpected ways. Muggle doctors said it could be epilepsy: white eyes, total loss of control over her body, tremors... But even being as young as she was (around six years old), it was confusing for her to understand why she could feel, be aware of emotions when it happened. They weren’t necessarily negative, because sometimes she would simply feel good sensations, maybe excitement about something? What could be coming next? A family gathering? The birth of someone? Maybe just that her dad got a promotion? Nancy was never going to fully understand it, maybe because of inexperience or because it was vague and complex for her, but when something happened in the future, she had the same feelings as when she had sensed it.

When she was 7 years old, she had her first experience with magic, and everything became clearer for little Nancy: Her mother, Nora, explained that it was possible she had inherited the abilities of her own aunt, Mara, through maternal genetics. Nancy didn’t know who this aunt of her mother was, but she showed a lot of desire to learn about her story.

Apparently, that woman had, in turn, inherited from her mother the magical ability to see the future, or rather, to be able to sense a possible future, and this drove her crazy, losing control and becoming a dark witch disturbed by her own mind. Because of this story, Nora was very worried that the same could happen to her daughter, and she had always hoped that Nancy had never inherited it.

From that moment on, Nancy promised her mother to try not to get lost in the possible curse of a seer—her own mind. For this, her mother also gave her a special Ruby pendant, whose benefits were many for Nancy, such as emotional strengthening to give more courage and overcome fears or traumas, as well as improved concentration, and it also helped with sleep to make it more lucid and provide better rest.

Nancy decided that whenever a vision came, no matter how strange or confusing it was, she would write it down in her journal and do everything in her power to decipher it, or at least, in case she felt anguish and dread from them, avoid it at all costs.
Character Backstory:
Reducio
Nancy was born on February 14, 2015, on Valentine's Day, as the oldest of three siblings, within the marriage of a muggle man, Jeffrey, and a witch woman, Nora.

The Osberns are known for coming from high society: lots of wealth and lots of appearances in the muggle world, with Jeffrey Osbern being a politician and a natural businessman; his wife, Nora, is the true protagonist, being the matriarch, the one who sets rules and limits. She, in turn, is the oldest of her three sisters, and her strict and disciplined nature is evident in her role.

For these reasons, Nancy, being the oldest herself, has always carried the weight of following in her family's footsteps in the future, although this has never disturbed her genuine and cheerful personality. It has been noticeable, however, how nervous and anxious she is about improving and being perfect, with a fear of failing and disappointing, especially her mother. Since she was very little, Nancy has always cared a lot about her family and her relationships, putting them above everything, even herself. Her relationship with her father could be one of the best, because she’s her dad’s favorite, probably due to her cheerful and sunny personality. With her sister Susan, who is just about a year younger, her opposite in many ways, she has a very close relationship even though Susan isn’t very talkative and is more like their mother, Nora. Finally, her brother, Terrence, whom everyone always calls Terry, is the family’s ultimate prankster, and he’s her little baby brother (even though they’re only two years apart), so she always laughs at his silly antics and encourages him to keep being fun despite their parents’ scoldings.

Even so, her family is large, because she has up to 23 cousins, on both her mother’s and father’s side (some don’t share direct blood ties, but they were raised together), and she couldn’t imagine her future without her big family. Even so, we could summarize that her closest cousins, or ones most like her, are her cousin Helen, her cousin Lexie, and Lexie’s cousin, Pattrice.
First Instance of Magic:

However, only she and her siblings have magical blood directly. In particular, Nancy developed it around the age of 7, when one summer afternoon, her parents, who were on a break, were preparing dinner in the yard, momentarily not paying attention to the three children. Nancy, who was doing her summer homework, could see her brother, who was then 5 years old, playing with his toy truck at the top of the indoor stairs, when suddenly his truck fell and he went to pick it up, slipping as he pushed off.

Nancy, out of panic and surprise, acted quickly, but even before getting up from her seat, her mind acted on its own, making her little brother levitate in the air. That was when their parents ran into the living room after hearing Terry's scream, finding the little boy laughing in the air, and Nancy in a state of pure fascination and fear, staring at her hands as if she innocently believed her magic came from them. At that moment, her parents looked at each other and decided it was time to tell the little one about her maternal bloodline origins.

They didn’t look very happy, but at the same time, they knew this would happen sooner or later. Nora warned her that magic had its conveniences too, its dangers (without going into much detail), but Nancy’s eyes sparkled more than when she opened presents at Christmas or during cousin gatherings. There, Jeffrey comforted his wife, making her understand that now it was their daughter's choice to decide her own future with her new reality.

Nancy got so excited and thrilled that she spent a week trying to repeat her actions, using Terry as a guinea pig, but all she got was a headache from overexertion and a good scolding and punishment from her mother. And even with that, Nancy promised herself that she would give everything to become a great witch (especially one of white and pure magic).

Part 1:

Aaron was an all rounder. They knew when to give time to their studies and when to play with their friends. Most of their time was spent either in school, or outside their home on the streets with their friends. Unbeknownst to many, a lot of the people who lived on the street consisted of at least one family member who knew magic. That way, wizardry children always got the best of both worlds. This was true with Aaron, making them reliant on non-magical modes of communication, transport, and enjoyment. Apart from that, Aaron could be found in his room, practicing muggle magic, also known as Science. He was fond of performing experiments and would often be watching Mark Rober videos, building something from his Crunchlabs kit, or even playing around with chemicals. He was able to realise that Potions is just complicated Chemistry, and maybe, just maybe, a Muggle with a degree in Chemistry would be able to explain the Science behind it. Of course, that would mean exposing magic to Muggles, which was a stupid idea.

In school, Aaron was fond of his studies, and also participated in debates and swimming competitions. Though not a professional athlete, Aaron was a pretty fast swimmer and almost always received first position whenever he participated. These were some of the reasons that made it easy to make an excuse of going to Hogwarts. Aaron told his Muggle friends that he was being sent of to a boarding school where his parents believed he could improve his skills. While he was happy for getting his Hogwarts letter, he was sad to leave his friends behind, which made the good-byes actually hard and truthful. He did promise he was going to come back in July if things went alright. And thus, began his journey at Hogwarts.

Part 2:
Reducio

While not much needs to be added from the previous story, Aaron and his magical friends often had their own playdates planned without their Muggle friends. These playdates allowed the use of magic and magical items, making days interesting in a different manner. They always talked about the different ways they would spend their time at Hogwarts, what quidditch position they would play at, what the best spells for duelling could be and more. They missed not including their muggle friends in these conversations, but their parents forbid them for the same, thus making them hope that at least some of their muggle friends get selected along with them to Hogwarts.

Aaron's first instance of magic happened when they were in Year 3. It was a late night, and he had a bit of homework pending. His parents had allowed him to stay up the night since it was a Sunday the next day and there were fun activities planned. That day wasn't any less busy as Aaron had gone for swimming, ran around playing with his friends in the park, and had hardly any rest. So, while solving some basic mathematical questions, Aaron somehow fell asleep. It was quite strange as he also didn't remember when he fell asleep, but he did remember that he still had half a page of problems to do, but when he woke up he saw that he had somehow completed the entire problem sheet. After looking at the empty pen did Aaron and his family realise that he had finally used magic on his own. This was the moment they were sure he was going to go Hogwarts when he turns 11.
Not a surprise to anyone, but 3 years later and an owl had delivered a mail addressed to Aaron Schwartz. It had everything his mother remembered from the green ink, to the Hogwarts seal. Aaron shared the news with his magical friends instantly as they wished him his 11th birthday.

History; Leila was not from a well-known or famous family. She came from the Young family, pure-blood wizards. Her whole family, both on her mother's side and on her father's side, went to Hogwarts. Leila knew that when she turned 11, she would get a letter from Hogwarts. As a child, Leila didn't have many friends, maybe it's because I know there weren't many people living in the area, or maybe because everyone thought she was strange, this one. As a result, she often felt lonely, especially during the school year when her older brother was at Hogwarts. The girl's house was always quiet, often there was no one in it, Leila's parents went to work in the morning and came back in the evenings, they were gone all day, Leila spent this time at her grandmother's house, who lived a few blocks away from her family home

The first case of magic, for the first time, her magic was revealed. , when she was 6 years old after an argument with her brother during the summer holidays. He accused her of spilling ink on his essay of potions about werewolves, even though she had spent the whole day outside. The argument became so heated that Leila ran out of the house crying, heading for a meadow nearby. As she sat among the flowers and her first tears fell on the grass, touching the daisy petals, the flowers began to flicker and glow. Surprise and a shadow of fear appeared on her face; She quickly wiped away her tears and ran back home. She didn't tell anyone about it and the incident never happened again.

Vivianne and Marshall Vancourt were not in love, but their marriage was always inevitable. Since they were infants, their families decided they were betrothed, but neither of them fully expected the day to really come. Forced into an arranged marriage and life together just months after their graduation from Hogwarts, the young adults were, suffice to say, upset. It wasn't because of the partner newly pushed on them, for they usually got along and could tolerate each other, but it was because of the nature of their relationship that the pair lamented their freedom being pulled out from under them. Thus, for the first few years of their relationship, the pair agreed in secret that they would have an open marriage. This was hardly ever pursued by either party and was shared with no one due to their fears that their families would be ruined, but it wasn't long after the birth of their legitimate son, Kassian, that Vivianne reconnected with an old friend of hers. Also a pureblood who had close connections with her family, Arlo Ashford was someone she used to harbor feelings for, and those emotions were only rekindled when they started seeing each other again.

Perhaps he should have known that she was married. And perhaps he should have known that when they lost touch, it was because she was carrying his child. He should have known all of this because he was a Seer. Of course, he didn't tell many people this, as in high society circles it often caused him to be viewed as unhinged and unrefined, but having prophecies wasn't something he could always hide. Plagued by her sudden disappearance and now the great feeling that something had changed, along with dreams of blue dresses, stars, and ballet dancers that he didn't understand, Arlo was devastated that Vivienne had ghosted him and the discovery of her family.

Vivienne held the secret of her daughter's conception close to her heart, not telling a single soul about her true ancestry. Nobody needed to know; at least, that's what she told herself. Nevertheless, growing up, Nova always felt out of place. There were certain things that she just knew, and even stranger, she didn't know why. It wasn't anything big, of course, but in little everyday things here and there that surprised her. Like dodging a classmate whose battement was too close in ballet class. Like always being the quickest to find friends in hide and seek. Like those dreams that she would learn to not tell her parents about, the ones of things she had never seen before and things that didn't make sense. Like that overwhelming, looming feeling she got sometimes that she was... different. Not different in the way that her brain worked differently, but different from her family. It seemed to her that they fit together so well and she didn't quite belong. Of course, it didn't make sense, so she always ignored it, but whenever Kassian would tease her that he was better at anything- Quidditch, lessons, even magic- Nova couldn't stand it.

Perhaps one day Arlo will find out that Nova Esther Vancourt was his biological daughter. And perhaps he will know, too, that she inherited his gift and that she, too, was a Seer.

Character Backstory: (wc: 284/220)
Reducio
On November the 12th of 2014, Vivianne Vancourt gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and named her Nova Esther Vancourt. The affair through which she was conceived would stay a secret from everyone, including Marshall Vancourt, who Nova would grow up knowing as her father, her older brother Kassian, and Nova herself.

As a pureblooded family, the Vancourts participated in high society events and had deeply rooted connections with countless wizarding families. Both of her parents were Hogwarts graduates from house Slytherin, her mother an impressive potioneer and herbologist and her father an exceptional spellcaster and duelist. Vivienne and Marshall were both quite popular and well-known, and still retain many connections and friends from their schooling days. They graduated in the same year and were arranged to be married not long after.

Nova herself was raised near Ambleside in the English countryside and had tutors and teachers for academic and artistic subjects, the latter of which included piano and ballet. Dignity and opulence were not uncommon themes of her early life, and have shaped Nova into the person she is today. Her parents were always around, but often lacked the warmth and deeper personal relationship that is usually expected of parents.

Nova often grew up in the shadow of her brother, a successful Slytherin student two years her senior that seemed to be everything her parents wanted. The heir to the Vancourt name, Kassian was nothing less than a poster child and often received more attention and praise. This wasn't to say that Nova was neglected, of course, but she saw very few benefits to being the second child and always wished that she could be perfect, something he made to look easy.

Her first instance of magic was during a dinner with her family when she was about four. She didn't want the dinner set in front of her (the shrimp reminded her of bugs and she was revolted) but was told to eat it anyway. When she screamed in protest, all the candles in the dining room extinguished themselves.

𝔒ne day, Magnus Fenwick Williams was on his tree house as usual, stepping on the outer edge and looking into the distance as he had done many times before. It was a newly built tree house on one of the tallest trees around him, and his cousin was behind him, bringing up snacks and books to enjoy and organizing things here and there. Suddenly, one of the nails holding the edge of the tree house that he was standing on snapped, and others followed. With a loud scream, he fell onto the ground, seeing the ground flash before him and thinking he would be dead. However, he simply bounced on the ground and rolled a few meters forward, completely unscathed. He was so shocked that he couldn’t move. He heard the sobbing of his cousin and the yells of relief and amazement. He couldn't believe he survived that! That was the day he found out he was a wizard.

One afternoon in early march, I was walking along the borderline of the forest by the farm, with Ada and Molly and we were talking a lot about how winter had ben and how much we were excited for spring. We were all only 7 at that time and Molly’s Oder sister Sarah was going into first year, in the fall and her brother was in first year right now at Hogwarts and i was chattering on and on (per usual)
About Tigress and lucky, my two cats and also my dogs ace and river. I loved talking about the chickens too. After i was done saying what I was saying i could faintly hear a little whimper coming from the bushy area.
“What-what’s that?” Ada asked.
I took off my scarf and realized it was a tiny hedgehog so i scooped it up with my scarf. The little hedgehog looked so weak and hungry that I remembered something mum told me once. Hedgehogs can get sick if they eat wrong plants. I was really worried about the little guy.
“Please be okay, please dont die,” the only thing i had in that moment, was my own concern about this little hedgehog.🦔
And then to my surprise, my Hands started to glow, let out a quiet but strong sneeze. Even though it was just a sneeze it made it seem like the little guy was gonna be okay.
“Bye, little guy.” I said to hedgehog knowing he’d be ok. He hedgehog looked stronger and healthier, i felt like i helped him, even though I don’t know how. Later, when i told my Dad he just told me this,
“sometimes magic listens to your heart before your wand”

Grace’s mom is a muggle and her dad is a wizard, so grace and her dad have a close relationship that is partially because they are both wizarding world and magic nerds. There is a lot of things in their family on the muggle side that Grace’s dad has been introduced to and taken an imidiate liking. Grace loves helping her mom in her vegetable garden and she loves gong to the London public library with her. Ever since grace was about 5 years old, she’s clearly known about magic and the magical world. Both because her mom and dad wanted her to be normal for a while and because she didn’t really understand it, she didn’t know much about magic.
Grace is an only child and her father works at the ministry of magic while her mum stays at home almost full time. When her mum is not at home she is working at the library or volunteering somewhere.
grace is very close with her parents and wouldn’t have accepted her letter to Hogwarts, but her dad has told her stories of what it was like for him, and some of her closest friends are also going.
Grace’s family has 2 cats (one black cat and one tabby). The black cat’s name is lucky, sort of like a reverse superstition. And the tabby is called tigress. They also have a border collie named River and a German Shepard named Ace. Her family has a very small farm with her mom’s vegetable garden and family chickens and horses. Grace loves the animals very much and her dad has bounced around job in the department of regulation and control of magical creatures, trying to make some change. With both her love of animals and inspiration from her dad, Grace has always wanted to be a magizoologist.

Character Special Race/Talent: Part-Veela (1/4)
Reducio
When 20-year-old Milena Petak first set foot on the bustling streets of Cardiff, Wales, she was completely lost. A full-blooded Veela travelling all the way from Eastern Europe to visit a family friend working in the fashion industry which she had been hoping to enter, she refused their cordial offer of meeting her at the harbour, determined to find her own way through the city with accented English and a folded map that no longer seemed to make sense. Stumbling upon the muggle districts, she ended up pondering outside the windows of a small café, and accidentally locked eyes with a young man sitting inside beside the other side of the glass.

Gareth Rosser, 22, freshly out of the University of Cardiff with a BA in English Literature and an aspiring screenwriter, spent most of his days in the cafeteria doing unstable media work while working on his second script. It was just another normal day for him if he hadn't happened to want to catch a glimpse of the sky amidst his writing. They were both pretty sure that they found their respective muse in that split second: him staring at her unearthly beauty and elegant demeanour; her being drawn to his sculpturesque features and artistic air. Gareth stood up and strode to the entrance, holding the door for her, while Milena graced her way in.

A black coffee and a Victoria Sponge Cake were the start of their love. Upon their fifth date he learnt that she was no ordinary human. Though shocked, he wasn't too bothered, having always had a great interest in mythology and folklore since his university years. He asked for her hand in the summer; Carys came into the world a year later. She was a beautiful baby, mostly taking after her mother, but had Gareth's brown hair. Milena was slightly disappointed, taking great pride in her glossy golden hair. But still, she was their little angel, and they bestowed her a name meaning "love".

They might have been a little too impatient to hop into marriage and parenthood, as conflict started to emerge. Both were ambitious. Yet Milena had talent, while Gareth was mediocre. Milena was calculating; Gareth was dreamy. The passion slowly died out. Big dreams unfulfilled, Gareth started to retreat into a world of delusion, but Milena really had a blooming career as a fashion designer, already in charge of a boutique by the time Carys turned three. When Carys was five, she experienced her first magic. And when she was seven, her parents divorced, Milena choosing to leave the household.

Milena's early leave left a hole in both Carys's and her father's hearts. Gareth was out of spirits ever since the divorce; as he aged and still had no significantly recognised work, it was clear that he might never receive a BAFTA award that he had been craving for. Frequently turning to alcohol and tobacco when he was out of inspiration, his health got worse over the years. Seeing her father like that, Carys understood Milena's choice, but she still cared for her father deeply. While Carys seldom referred to her family background during her Hogwarts years, it wasn't a mystery to her close circle of friends. The heritages were both part of her, and she had never been ashamed of them.

Graduating as a straight O student of Slytherin, Carys worked in Cardiff after graduation, living with her father until he passed away due to heart failure the following winter. Drying her tears, she spent another six months in Cardiff and moved to Narberth, where she found a new job as an assistant for a private investigator. And two years later, upon a collaboration among Aurors, Cursebreakers, and Investigators from several countries, a very green Private Investigator Carys met novice Cursebreaker Takumi Ichiyagi.

Takumi Ichiyagi, despite being a member of the prestigious Ichiyagi family from Japan, was, unfortunately, the spare of a spare. Takumi knew well that, as a spare, the only thing his father required of him was to marry high and make connections, but he found himself totally smitten by Carys as they worked alongside each other. Having similar interests and personalities, they shared witty chats and insightful comments, and time just slipped away when they were together. When Takumi had to return to Japan with his team, he inquired if she wanted to be together. He had already decided to confront his family for her, but Carys was hesitant. Having witnessed her parents' love tragedy, she was not sure if it could last. Takumi agreed that they needed time, but hoped she could reconsider. They continued to stay in touch, and when Takumi returned to Narberth to see her that summer, they confirmed their feelings for each other. They would make it work, despite all the difficulties.

Takumi's father was furious when Takumi announced his relationship with Carys to the family. He summoned Takumi back to Japan, intending to set him up with another girl from a local pureblood family. When Takumi finally showed up in the family dining hall months later, he already had a ring on his fourth finger. He declared that he truly wanted to settle down with her, even if in a foreign country, and he intended to quit his job in Japan and find another in Britain. His father eventually disowned him.

Takumi did not care much. He told Carys that he meant to take her last name, and they would make a family together. They officially tied the knot by the end of the year. Levin Aneirin Naoya Rosser was born the summer after, a stunning baby boy mostly inheriting his father's features, but definitely carrying his mother's allure. In 2015, they welcomed their second child to the world, whom they named Philip Emrys Sakuya Rosser. Like his brother, he had the dark colour of Takumi's hair and eyes, but the bright skin, thick brows, and dimple on the right cheek undoubtedly came from Carys.

Opening his large, expressive dark eyes with long eyelashes fluttering, Philip had his first glimpse of the world. As a quarter Veela, he was a sweet child, possessing that breathtaking charm inherited from his mother and grandmother. Extra candy bars, compliments from passers-by, and adults doting on him when he smiled - Philip had yet to understand what being a Part-Veela really meant, but he was always so smug about these little benefits in life.
Character Backstory:
Reducio
Philip Emrys Sakuya Rosser's birth was more of a surprise than planned to his parents, Carys and Takumi Rosser. Born on January 20th, 2015 at 13:14, almost 10 years after their first child, Philip almost immediately became the apple of the family's eye.

The Rossers were comfortably off, and the family was a close unit. While Takumi's work as a Cursebreaker required frequent dispatches and travels, Carys, a Private Investigator, was primarily based in Narberth. Despite both being busy, Takumi and Carys made sure they provided enough love and education to their children. Homeschooled by either his parents or Levin when they were home, Philip was taught the basic knowledge wizard children should learn. His favourite time of the year was during the holidays, when Takumi and Carys were on leave, and Levin was home from Hogwarts, the four of them all sitting beside the fireplace, idly chatting and having homemade cookies.

It all changed a month before Philip's seventh birthday. With Takumi abroad on a mission and Levin at Hogwarts, Carys, who had to work on an investigation that day, left him at a neighbour's house, promising that she would pick him up at 8. For Philip, it was just another normal weekday, seeing that his parents had always been busy.

But she did not arrive as promised at 8. Nor 9. Nor 10. While he intended to stay up and wait, the neighbour insisted on putting him to bed and started checking in with acquaintances after the bedroom door was properly closed. He drifted to sleep in great anxiety, and the next morning, when he woke up, his mother's colleague was right downstairs, eyes red and shadowed by dark circles. During the investigation, a deadly curse claimed her life. Two days later, Takumi returned. And then Levin. Standing silently in tears with his father and brother, Philip slowly came to the realisation that they would never see his mother's smile nor hear her laugh again. Carys Rosser was never going to come back.

Grief hung over the Rosser household that winter, yet life went on. With Levin resuming his studies at Hogwarts, Takumi had thought of extending his leave, but a lucrative dispatch to South America was something he could not turn down, now having to raise two children on his own. Eventually, Takumi reached out to his cousin Fusako and her siblings. Even if he was disowned by his father for his marriage to Carys, Takumi was confident that he couldn't interfere with the heiress. They were helpful, and a very bewildered Philip arrived in Ehime, Japan. At first, he regarded this unfamiliar side of family and the pureblood society as intimidating; yet he soon found that his bashful, winsome smiles and innocent wide-eyed looks made him utterly adorable and won him much affection. His Ehime days with the Ichiyagi family turned out to be more pleasant than he initially had thought, before being picked up by Takumi after the latter returned from his dispatch.

Levin stayed with a friend that summer, and upon Takumi and Philip's return to Wales, the family sold the old house in Narberth and relocated to the suburbs of Swansea. Takumi took a long leave after the dispatch, only taking on short missions based in Britain, during which he would ask neighbours or friends to temporarily help look after his son. After thorough discussions, it was decided that when Takumi was not around, Levin would primarily take care of Philip after his graduation. A top student primarily specialising in Potions, Levin had secured a spot as a research aide to a famous Potioneer in Swansea. As a Potioneer, he would spend most of his time at home studying potions; thus, he would be able to see to his baby brother when Takumi was on missions. As the golden child and very mature from a relatively young age, Takumi trusted his eldest son with such responsibilities.

From then on, most of Philip's days were spent with Levin. On the road most of the year, Takumi was only home when on leave, and while his presence might be unstable, his love was consistent. Purchasing souvenirs from foreign countries, frequently checking on them via owls, bringing them to lavish dinners when he was back, and patiently listening to their joys and concerns, Takumi was loved dearly by Levin and Philip. But still, Levin was Philip's closest confidant. Always the all-knowing, loving brother, Levin was his world.

When his Hogwarts letter arrived, Philip was overjoyed. He was going to attend Hogwarts. Among the four houses, he was hoping for Slytherin, like Levin, and of course, Carys. Over the years, the family had been slowly recovering from their loss of her, but she would always be alive and youthful in their hearts. To Philip, Levin was his anchor, Takumi his sails, and Carys his North Star. They would carry on with her legacy, forever strong and determined.
  • @Rosaline Everhart has approved the connection between Philip Rosser and her iNPC Hayato Ichiyagi, as well as the mention of dNPC Fusako Ichiyagi, Hayato's mother. A DM screenshot of her consenting to them being cousins can be provided if confirmation is needed.
First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Philip was 8 when he experienced his first magic. Under the supervision of Levin, he attempted to bake a cake to celebrate his father Takumi's first homecoming in four months. Levin had to temporarily leave to check on a potion he had been brewing, and a culinary mishap happened as soon as he walked out of the kitchen. Having absent-mindedly added salt instead of sugar to the cake batter, Philip rushed to fetch Levin when he spotted the tag on the container he had just used, hoping that his brother could solve it like he always did. In a hurry, he bumped into a chair in the dining room, tripped over, and fell nose first to the edge of a wooden table. He should have suffered from a bleeding and crooked nose given the hardness, yet he only felt a slight bump as if it were made of rubber. Standing up, Philip touched the bridge of his nose, and was surprised to find that it remained perfectly unscarred.
