Samantha Salwis wrote: 12 May 2021, 18:04 You could try to read Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone, if that is not to hard. Really that is the easiest English book I know that you could be intrested in (since you are on a Harry Potter site).

The last English book I've read it Emma from Jane Austen, for English Class...... My advice, don't read it ^^ Or you have to like books that are writen in Ancient English And now I'm forced to read Macbeth for English :/ My teachers like to confuse us with weird English  We also had to read Flowers for Algenon, which also has awful English (only in the beginning and end, but still)

500th post xD (for me)

Has anyone read 'Beneath a Scarlet Sky', or 'All the Light We Cannot See'? Both very good books.

I also read my fair share of manga :b

@Kage Suzuki aaaahhh I love All the Light We Cannot See! It has to be one of my all-time favourites. Did you know it took the writer 10 years to write it? That's dedication, lol.

As an aspiring writer myself it greatly intrigues me how the characters' two stories are so intricately spun around each other for most of the book, living seemingly separate and totally different lives for the most of the war, only to be brought together right at the end, united not by race or background, but by who they are as people. Ok, I promise I'll stop fantasising about random literature now. I need to read it again, I haven't read it in ages... oh, and the descriptions are so elaborate, god I wish I could write like that

I~ It is just so confusing :worried: English isn't my first language and then the teachers are forcing us to read these books/plays that have a totally different form of English then we are used to, which leads to the fact that I don't understand half of the story and don't like to read it :sweatingbullets: , but if your first language is English I geus it wouldn't be that bad.

ah, fair enough. I didn't know people studied literature in foreign language classes... I can imagine it would be really difficult though
