FAQ — Questions
@Marius Brown, as far as I understand, it is up to your discretion. Each professor will likely go through the process differently, so since the professor is some random NPC, as long as they provide sufficient explanation about magic and Hogwarts, you should be fine.

FAQ — Questions
What counts as inactive if someone's not deleted their account? For context, I coded an encyclopedia for a first year with four posts who hasn't been online since July. They never used the ency but thanked me for it in May. Their last post was in April. Since it seems a shame to me if it's not used, I was going to donate the code to the BBCode Donations thread, but wasn't sure whether site rules meant they were inactive or not, and I wouldn't want to donate it if there was still a chance they'd use it.

@Lucia Fox and @Callista Lovis, thank you!

FAQ — Questions
We don't delete accounts. We actually advise against deletions. We only have standards for things like quidditch (month without posting). When it comes to things like donating something, that is really up to you. If they paid for it versus if they disappeared without payment. The staff does not police the shops.

FAQ — Questions
I'm just looking to know this for future reference (ominous) but if a family member died, would I need to reapply for index before I can RP it and add that part into Adelaide's ency? Also, if they died during the time when Adelaide's at school, would it be possible for a family member to come pick Adelaide up (most likely at the weekend) and apparate her away to attend the funeral? Obviously she would be back before Monday. I'm aware you can't apparate in Hogwarts, so would it be alright to say that they met at Hogsmeade to apparate? Thank you to anyone who answers.

FAQ — Questions
You have to re-Index for things that would retrospectively change your backstory or that go against the rules of our setting. For example, if your character's father was dead, and was suddenly alive, you'd need to explain how that came to be. Same for bringing things into your backstory that shouldn't be there, like your character suddenly claiming that their parents vanished a year ago and nobody noticed (which would make Hogwarts look very bad). Mostly re-Indexing is a matter of people taking their (back)story to places it shouldn't have gone without consulting or despite having consulted and been told they couldn't to what they had in mind.

FAQ — Questions
Hello! I was reading through the races and abilities post and saw this:
I had originally wanted Lizzy to be a werewolf, but was still confused on how it worked because I was so new to the site. As a result, the deadline of 30 days passed me by. My question to you is this information above is making it sound like I could still get Lizzy to become a werewolf if I found a werewolf character and had an accident happen? If that is correct, would you mind explaining to me how this would work and how it would affect the abilities and stats I already have? The bite or the scratch of a werewolf is said to transmit lycanthropy. However in this community consent is a big part of the roleplay experience, you would be effectively forcing a change upon another user potentially damaging their experience. Please have posted on site documentation of their consent and please be aware that even with OC consent there will be IC consequences for this action. If a user is scratched or bit, their body will overcome the disease and they will survive. If the user chooses to allow this disease to take hold then their specialty race would become Lycantrope rather than human or the specialty race they previously had and their stats and abilities would reflect this change. To clarify, a turned human in the 7th year would not earn additional abilities because they were turned on year 7, rather they would need to pick and choose what abilities they will have in addition to their lycantrope skills.
FAQ — Questions
That couldn't happen because the werewolf characters are supplied by wolfsbane potion which prevents them from losing control when they are in wolf form. That means, if you were bit by a werewolf, that would be on purpose and a crime for which that character would get put into Azkaban- which we don't have, plus I don't know any player who is willing to give up their character.Lizzy Solace wrote: 28 Jan 2022, 21:29 Hello!
