Character Statistics:
Stamina: 6
Evasion: 4
Strength: 4
Wisdom: 7
ArcPower: 4
Accuracy: 5

Character Backstory:
Physical Description: Russet coloured skin, deep icy blue eyes, glossy black hair in a short undercut with shaved sides and back, slightly longer on top, styled back, with natural blonde highlights that are unexplained because his entire family has just plain black hair. Has a couple of scars from stupid injuries as a kid. Most of the time Atlas wears a baggy black hoodie and baggy sweatpants for comfort, unless his parents make him come to family shows, then he is required to dress up, so he wears a sharp navy blue suit.

Mental Description: Kind, loves animals(especially dogs), calm, gentle, protective of those he cares about, smart and gets all A's in muggle school, kind of quiet with people he doesn't really know, likes music (his favourite artists are Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Livingston along with other songs from different artists), likes to cook, loves skiing and really likes to read books. He works hard to keep his grades high. Atlas really loves animals, especially dogs.

Biography: His parents, Isadora Benedict and Alaric Benedict, always preferred his older sister, Carys Cleo Benedict (15 years old), and spoiled her, so he mostly keeps to himself. Isadora is a respected mayor of the town, Slough, and Alaric is a respected judge, so they are pretty wealthy, but even the press barely notices Altas most times. Atlas is quiet, so he doesn't really have friends unless you count the shelter dogs he visits everyday on the way home from school. He has a small dog walking and dog sitting business to earn a little bit of money for things he wants (school supplies, because his parents barely get him new clothes every year without complaining). His parents make him go to a private school like Carys to keep up appearances but Atlas is more of the quiet kid in school and sometimes gets bullied. Atlas has always wanted a pet, but his parents always said no. He mostly stays in his room reading or exploring the forest behind his backyard alone. He spends some time on the weekends experimenting with new recipes. He is a bit of a target to bullying from the sports jocks at his school so at least once a week he'll come home with a few fresh bruises though his parents don't really notice. His favourite story as a kid was 'The True Story Of Balto' which he'd read every night and Balto is still his role model today.

First Instance of Magic: He was 7 years and 4 months old and really angry that his parents wouldn't listen to him that he had a broken left arm from falling off the playground. He was in a lot of pain, so he tried to sleep, and when he woke up, his arm was healed.

Metamorphmagus application:
Name of Ability or Race/Talent that you Are Applying for: Metamorphmagus
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
Atlas Caius Benedict has spent all of his early life as the overlooked, peculiar, ignored youngest child of the esteemed Benedict family. No friends, bullied at school, hated by his family. What if he has been the black sheep of the family all of this time because his mother and father were wary of his emerging, unusual talent? Metamorphs often show early signs of their talent starting in infancy, so perhaps Atlas’s parents had seen the subtle, unusual and unexplainable phenomenons throughout all of his life, such as his eye color changing slightly, small, pointy horns emerging from above his eyebrows when he is angry, the occasional shift in his skin or hair colour when he is feeling a strong emotion and those traits unfortunately repulsed his parents, causing them to sometimes ignore the child to avoid the strange occurrences. Atlas’ mother and father are very respected in the city and want to appear as normal as possible to the rest of the world. His mother and father don't know exactly what or why this happens to their son (because they are muggles and there is little to no traces left from the early ancestors that had the gene), but whatever their suspicions may be, one thing is crystal clear: Atlas is definitely not normal in their eyes which is why they favour his older more average sister, Carys. Atlas's parents hate the fact that he is different, they think something is wrong with him, not medically or in a concerned way, but more that they think he has been affected by some sort of weird body curse, and that repulses them even more. The metamorphmagus gene traces far back into Atlas’s lineage to a nearly forgotten ancestor. Atlas's great great great grandmother on his mum's side, named Phoenix Cora (Cora is his mum's maiden name before she married his dad), was a talented and unusual metamorphmagus who became estranged from the rest of the family because they saw her as weird and uncanny because she is the only known relative on his mum's side that's a witch. Atlas also has an early ancestor of his dad's from back in the 1800's named Lucien Benedict who was also a metamorph. Atlas doesn't even realize why he is so different from other children his age, and from the rest of his family. He's noticed the slight changes that come and go when it comes to his appearance, and he has tried to figure out how to hide or control it but without much luck. He doesn't know what it is, how it works, or why he has it. He'll figure it out soon enough. When he does, he'll be pretty shocked and a bit afraid but also amazed, and he will definitely want to explore his talent a bit more and hopefully grow into his talents, learn to master them skillfully, and find a community or at least one friend that accepts him and his unusual quirks and interests while at Hogwarts.
STATUS: Pending, Santiago, 07/05/2026
Reasons for pending:
- The history must be at least 220 words alone. Appearance, first instance of magic and personality does not count towards this total. Please elaborate more on his background before Hogwarts.
- The Metamorphmagus application must be a minimum of 500 words. Additionally, changing hair colors is a first year ability, meaning he would not be able to physically alter his appearance in any significant way before Hogwarts.
- Don't forget to add any edits to backstory to the encyclopedia.
STATUS: Pending, Elena, 13th May
Thank you for making the edits requested, however some are still needed :

Character Backstory:
Reducio

Avery was born in Winchester, England to Wizard parent Emma Abernathy neé Thorne and muggle parent Alexander Abernathy. She is a single child. She lives with her parents in Amberwood Manor- her mother's ancestral home.

Her mother works in the Dept. Of Mysteries, she's a former auror. Her father is a Senior Historic Consultant, and owns an antique shop. Her mum and dad share an interest for art and met at an art gallery. Avery's Maternal family is pureblood. They were initially against their daughter marrying a muggle, but later came to terms with them. Emma received Amberwood Manor from her mother as a part of inheritance before her departure to Latvia.

Emma is the last born child in a family of three. She has an older brother, Richard and sister, Eliza. Her mother worked in the Dept. Of Magical Artefacts, and her father was a Senior Member of the Wizengamot. Their whole family was part of the Slytherin house in hogwarts, except Eliza, who was a Ravenclaw.

Eliza died at the age of 14 due to a reason unknown to the family. She was killed by an undetectable rare potion. It was done by the perpetrator as Eliza overheard a group, in an early development stage, involved in misusing the dark arts. Since it was a small group, any information leak would disrupt them. They recognised Eliza as the daughter of two powerful and influential wizards, and other methods of silencing her might not be as effective as eliminating her.

The family went through a great traumatic period, with Richard becoming colder, ruder, and more inclined towards orthodox pureblood beliefs; Emma rebelling against orthodoxy completely and having a willingness to find her sister, unable to accept her death; their mom, Elizabeth, becoming numb, cold, and emotionless; and their dad, Victor distanced himself completely from his family, focusing entirely on his job, henceforth.

Emma married Alexander, who was an archeologist at that time. She got married at the age of 25. They had Avery after 3 years. Victor passed away due to high exposure to dark magic, when Avery was 4.

He had recieved a pocketwatch as a gift from an anonymous sender, a few months after his daughter's death, which he found on his doorstep. It was an antique watch with beautiful intricate carvings on it. It had a certain charm which made it irresistible to Victor. He was very obsessive of the watch, never letting it out of his, he never let anyone else see it either. Little did he know that the watch was cursed and slowly degenerated him from within, eventually leading to his death. It was sent to him by the same group that killed his daughter. They gave it to the grieving father before he realised something was off about his daughter's death, and started digging around. The obsession he developed over the watch, which was fuelled by his grief, prevented him rethinking his daughter's death.

The loss created a rift between the family. Richard and his family moved to Latvia. Elizabeth stayed at Amberwood Manor for the next 6 yrs, after which she moved to Latvia, to her son's place too (where she currently resides). Since then, it's just been Emma, Alexander and Avery at Amberwood Manor.

Alexander is the first born child in his family, he has a sister Veronica. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He pursued archeology at Oxford University. Avery has seen her paternal family only once, when she was 6. She did not like the experience.

Being a single child, she is used to playing with herself a lot. She doesn't mingle with her paternal cousins. She remembers them calling her weird, unaware that she was a wizard. Her Maternal cousins live in Latvia and attend Durmstrang school, so she hasn't met them either. She has a pet Siberian Cat called Snow, back at home, whom she absolutely adores. She spends time taking care and playing with him. She is an animal and nature lover.

Avery went to muggle school, namely- Silvercrest Academy, in winchester till the age of 10. Her parents wanted her to experience both worlds. At home, she was taught about the basics of magic and the wizarding world. She has a bunch of muggle friends whom she loves playing with. Her best memories with them are playing in the park, going on play dates, visiting the zoo, attending fun fairs, and playing in the woods and creek behind her house.

She is a wonderful singer, and is a ballerina. She has done a number of recitals. She also loves to read. She reads all sorts of books, but fiction is her favourite. She also plays the violin. Some of her other favourite activities include horse riding and ice scating. She regularly visits the public scating rink with her family, and usually rides at the Thorne Family's Farm.

Avery is fond of travel, and often goes on trips and picnics with her parents. She loves camping, especially singing around the campfire. She is also has an interest in antiques. She'd spend all day at her dad's antique shop looking at the different unique objects, contemplating about them. She also likes to paint, and loves visiting art galleries and myseums with her dad. She enjoys having quality personal time when she might write or just sit and think about her day, snuggling with Snow.

First Instance of Magic:

She was practicing singing a high note in her favourite song for quite a while. When she finally hit it, all the books on the shelf and other vases and antiques in the room started floating. This happened when she was 4yrs old.
STATUS: Pending, Santiago, 07/05/2026
Reasons for pending:
- While they might not know the "mysterious" circumstances of Eliza's death, we need to know how and why she died.
- Please also expand on Victor’s death due to “high exposure to dark magic". What dark magic killed him?
- Don't forget to update her ency with any new background edits.
STATUS: Pending, Santiago, 07/05/2026
Reasons for pending:
- Could you please elaborate more on why Victor was targeted when given this cursed pocketwatch? Likewise, why Eliza had to be killed instead of silenced in other ways.
STATUS: Pending, Santiago, 08/05/2026
Reasons for pending:
- Since Victor is deceased, please rephrase his occupation into past tense (e.g. “was a member of the Wizengamot during his lifetime”).
- Please also ensure this does not imply the existence of a larger organised group or widespread hidden threat operating under the radar, as this may conflict with site rules regarding institutional competence

I am a little confused of how to show what is in my trunk... can someone please tell me step by step instructions for this? Sorry!! I am very new here.
STATUS: Denied, Kasem, 7 May
Reason for denial.
No problems in being confused (it can be tricky). That said, I will deny this application because the form has not been met at all and to avoid further confusion. There is a full form at the beginning of this thread that you need to complete. That being said, I highly suggest you apply for our Mentorship programme so one of our mentors can hopefully guide you through the process and offer help and guidance further as well.
(Also you were meant to link the character page, you don't have a trunk. Here is some information on trunks if you need it.

Sincerely- Maddie Bendel

Character Backstory:
If you saw me walking down the street in the muggle world, you’d see a tall girl with unusually straight brown hair that seems pretty put together. You might notice how I seem to walk with the confidence as if I run the world. But what you wouldn't see is the flash of bright red in my hair when I get angry, that shine in my eyes when I get excited about something new, or how my body tends to bend at my will when I feel self consious. Being a Metamorphmagus is a gift I received from my great-grandfather. My father, John, did not inherited this gift and neither did his father. My outside rarely stays still for long. Just like my mind.
Living with my muggle mother, Amy, and my two brothers John and Matthew, life was a tornado of homework and practicing my tap and jazz dance routines. I’ve always been the one to write the longest essays and fill more parchment than anyone else in my muggle class.People think it’s easy for me because I’m a genius, but it’s really because my ADHD makes my brain run at a hundred miles an hour. I’m constantly correcting grammar in my head or reaching for my guitar to stop my flood of rapid thoughts. I feel this constant pressure to be the absolute best at everything I do, to prove that even though my mind thinks differently, I can out-learn anyone at anything.
I spend a lot of time trying to look perfect for everyone else, but deep down, I’m just trying as hard as everyone else to keep my head out of the clouds.I guess I'm a bit of a hypocrite because I love to connect with people...really seeing them, even the messy parts they try to hide, even when I'm trying to hide my own. Maybe that’s why I write, because I get to choose what the real feelings of a character are, even if it's horrible deep down; I just want to capture the truth of things. When I go to Diagon Alley, I’m ready to trade my dance shoes for wizarding money, though I’ll probably still be the girl in the common room, staring into open space, while I should be doing my transfiguration homework.

First Instance of Magic: The day I knew for sure I wasn't just "talented" was when I was six years old and was sitting in the backyard with Matthew and our puppy, Ellie. We were playing a game when Matthew cheated. The anger filled me up in a flash. Before I knew what I was doing, Matthew was thrown up in the air, spinning like crazy before landing with a smash at my side. My hair had turned a bright, fiery red without me even asking it. It was really cofusing, but it was also the first time I felt like this was who I am supposed to be.

- 1. Link. You did not link your character page. Please do so by copying the link from your encyclopedia and pasting it here.
- 2. Trunk. You need a separate trunk post in your character's encyclopedia where the stats (and abilities for the future) will go. Highly suggesting you check this out to make your trunk.
- 3. Stats. Your stats add up to 30, for a special talent/race it should add up to 30. Please remove 3 stat points.
- 4. Backstory. Your backstory needs to be the same in your encyclopedia and your index application at the time of indexing at least. Your backstory is not including you being a metamorphmagus since that is separate, and it is advised to going more into the life prior to Hogwarts.
- 5. FIOM. Your FIOM needs to be in your encyclopedia as well somewhere. Your FIOM also implies 2 seperate magic outcomes which is not what happens usually with that. (instance one: Matthew flies in the air.; instance two: hair turns bright red.
- 6. Metamorphmagus This requires a 500 word application by itself describing how this fits your character (as in describe how they exhibit this magical talent or race) and where it came from (example, your grandmother was a Vampire, you had a distant Seer ancestor, etc.). You can find more about metamorphmagi here.

Parselmouth.

500-word rp for it:
[reducio]
Lauren never wanted to be a Parselmouth.

Ever since she singed the edge of her maloghany bedside table at the age of 6, Lauren's family hated her more than anything. Well, except for Aunt Loratrix and the Dark Arts.

Aunt Loratrix was a Parselmouth, and even worse, a Slytherin. She was always the odd one out in the Vanes Family, a family that only consisted of Ravenclaws. That was, before Lauren had been born.
_______________________________________________________________

She was ten. Four years have she endured the cold stares of her family, her sibling's accidental tripping of her on the stairs, and her parents' apparent ignorance of her existence. For a girl who had been treated like a golden child since when she was born, this punishment was worse than being bitten by a snake.

But her parselmouth ability had to save her. She much rathered it didn't.

The day it happened, it was Lauren's tenth birthday. She was waking from her silky bed. Her bedsheets were warm like the sun, though her heart was chilly as though ice splinters were piercing it. She opened her mouth to bellow a yowl of agony, yet she clamped her mouth shut when she heard the tiptoes of her sister, Arianna, towards the dining table where Lauren's plain, tiny present box lay.

Lauren tilted her head when she heard further movement towards her christmas box. Yet there was something other than Arianna's footsteps. Another living thing. And it still didn't make sense -- Arianna hated her with every fiber of her being. Why would she attempt to put anything into Lauren's present box?

Lauren knew why when she heard the uneven footsteps of Arianna, appearing to quake with excitement and anticipation, as she hurried past her room. Stupid, quite peculiar indeed, for a Ravenclaw to underestimate her younger, appearingly disowned younger sister, Lauren remarked. She's already freaked out from how I appear to be able to read her mind, though I don't. This time, though, I know what she's up to.

Lauren waited for her deceptive sister's footsteps to disappear completely before rushing out to the living room, curling her lip. She expeditiously dashed towards her now-fuller present box, dimly aware that watchful eyes were behind her. She didn't care. All that mattered was to figure out Arianna's prank, to prove to herself that she was more intelligent than her dim-witted sister.

She peered into her present box. As usual, she got a book from Aunt Loratrix, titled "the Invisible Book of Invisibility". She stuffed it in her pyjamas just in case she couldn't find it later, but as she removed it, she caught sight of a slithering animal that lurked in the depths of her present box. Its green eyes gleamed and bared its fangs as it saw the icy blue eyes of Lauren, then slithered a few centimetres from the bottom of the box. She gulped, realising that it was nearing the top rim, and there was no escape.

Immediately, the creature jumped out of the box and into Lauren's hand, whose stomach lurched when she recognized that it was a snake. The snake lowered its fangs, ready to sink into Lauren's flesh as its abyss-like eyes shone with pure hunger, ready to devour anything, pure or tainted, into the void beyond its gnawing mouth.

"Stop!"

The snake halted, dazzled, then retreated back into the corners of Lauren's present box with a respectful nod. I am sorry, master, the snake replied, unmistakably terrorized and shocked.

A shrill scream filled the living room as Lauren turned to see the horrified face of Arianna, distorted as if she were being tortured. "You... you were hissing... you were talking to a s-snake! I'm telling mommy and daddy!"

Her father's heavy footsteps told her that he had found out the truth. "You're a parselmouth, just like filthy Loratrix!", he exclaimed. You're gonna be a horrible Slytherin! And so you have no right to be part of our family! Oh yes, and Arianna, come with me and I'll help you recover from the shock.

Lauren cringed at her father's favouritism. Why did her family have to treat her like she was a monster because she could talk to a snake? Besides, it didn't do any harm.

In response to her question, Lauren heard her Aunt Loratrix's voice echoing in her mind, even though she was physically miles away.

"Never mind them. Just because you're a parselmouth doesn't mean you're worthless," she said.

Character Backstory: This needs to be 220 words (maximum 2K words) on its own. In validations the entire application with your appearance and first magic needed to total 220 words, so for many of you we will be looking for you to expound upon your character. can i merge them together?
First Instance of Magic: This should have already been written to pass validations. We just want a copy written in this application so we have a record of this.

LAUREN LORATRIX VANES is a sleek young woman and can be described as slender and willowy. Her icy blue eyes appear to be capable of staring into others' minds at first glance, which may cause peers to isolate her due to the eerie sensation she brings to many. Billowing, wavy blonde hair roughly outlines her diamond-shaped face, dangling loosely on its end. Her rosy cheeks highlights her unique aesthetic as sleek and stylish, which is naturally inherited from birth.

Lauren is a young, ambitious woman with academically-oriented goals. She strives for intelligence and often reads her siblings' Hogwarts textbooks for fun, and has ambitions to stand out from her peers and be treated differently. She can also be described as sly or cunning. She was naturally gifted at memorization and could charm people easily, which explains how she gains the praises of her parents with minimal effort -- they would yowl with surprise and pride if she did so much as sprinkle confetti in a family gathering. Often the favourite child of her parents due to her immense charming, her older siblings, Arianna and Felix, would secretly envy her recieved favouritism and plan an act of revenge, *unfortunately* diminishing the relationship between Lauren and her siblings. When she was only 4, she could expertly find ways to bypass her family's strict rules and have everything her way, and could even fool her astute parents when she set her mind to it.

At first, life was perfect. She was her parents' favourite daughter, described as the "perfect little witch" from when she was between the ages of 0-4. Until the day where everything was changed, and her whole world was swept away like dust by the wind. And it was just because of a stupid instance of magic.

_______________________________________________________________
Blaze, the Vanes family cat, was excitedly jumping around Lauren's normally-silent room. He pawed the ground, sniffing Lauren's bed curiously, knawed a chunk of silk out of her blanket, and licked it. Recoiling in disgust, Blaze threw down his so-called "meal" on Lauren's bed, and began to dive beneath Lauren's blankets in his search for food. He had been fed only the day before, yet his stomach was grumbling like Lauren's great-grandfather.

Blaze licked the rosy cheeks of the unsuspecting Lauren, then bent his head to cuddle up beside her. Her sweet scent filled his nose as he drifted into --

His paws were sticky with blood, flowing out of Lauren's arm like a current. His claw marks were engraved deeply in her arm, and she let out a shrill scream which distorted the air. Then the truth dawned on him. He, Blaze, had accidentally clawed Lauren.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Lauren saw her sticky blood flowing out into her white bed, and a scream of pure horror and disgust filled the air. She glanced at her right side, and saw the terrorized eyes of Blaze shining under the covers. Fury boiled inside her. That wretched cat, had he grown so careless as to injure her so badly? Or was it intentional?

She glared at Blaze with outrage, who expeditiously raced into her room doorway, clearly trying to notify her parents or attempting to escape from the consequences of his actions. Blinded by pure rage, she gritted her teeth, and had caused the flames to rise into the air and sing the edge of her mahogany bedside table, turning the expensive, fine wood into blackened, smoking crust before extinguishing itself as quickly as it had appeared. Thankfully, Blaze had escaped Lauren's wrath, carefully dodging the flames and whimpered in the corner of the room, shaken but unharmed. Lauren herself also remained unharmed but was terrorised, staring with horror as she sat upright on her bed.

From that moment on, Lauren's family had appeared to disown her, and she was no longer the favourite child as they viewed her as a monster for nearly causing fatal injury for their beloved Blaze. When status and belonging meant everything to her world, losing it was like losing her soul -- yes, she still had over-ambitious goals, and was more frustrated by her parents' consequent hatred for her than guilty for her uncontrollable anger. She was still the Lauren they loved -- no, they once loved, but they had turned against her -- the whole of her family had -- just because of her lack of self-control. She had lost everything, and naturally nobody was going to sympathise.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Aunt Loratrix was the only person who truly understood Lauren's frustration. She was the only family relative who would care for her during family gatherings, and only she would even talk to Lauren. She had once been disowned from the Vanes family for being a Slytherin (it should only consist of Ravenclaws), so she knew exactly how Lauren felt. She was the one who acted like Lauren's true mother, encouraging her to stand up to her situation and become the best person she could be, while making sure to the fact that she would have enjoyment and luxury.

Me and my family tries so hard to be "normal," and not weird but there’s always been this weird and dark secret hanging over my mom’s side of the tree. Nobody even mentioned it until my Hogwarts letter showed up. It turns out my great-grandfather was this total recluse who lived out in the marshes. People call him "odd" because he liked hanging of snakes way more than people. Basically, he was a Parselmouth. The gift totally skipped my grandma and my mom, so I think everyone just assumed—or hoped—it was dead and buried.
My parents were honestly pretty freaked out when they realized I had it. We aren't even related to the Slytherins, as far as we know. It’s just this bizarre, ancient genetic thingy that decided to wake up in me. If you saw me walking through the halls at school, you’d just see another kid inside the hogwarts uniform. You wouldn't know I’ve got this s ecret language tucked inside my brain.
I’m actually counting the days until my third year because I can finally get a pet snake. I like, having a companion that actually gets what I’m saying sounds is way better than an owl that just hoots and drops mail. I also wanted on since I was young but my mom and dad wouldn’t let me have one. I figured out I could do it when I was ten. I was out by a woodpile in the garden in my backyard when this big and beautiful patterned snake slithered out of the wood pile. Instead of running away, I just felt like I should say something. So I whispered to it to hide so my dad wouldn't come out with a shovel, and the snake actually hissed back, "These stones are warm." I was very suprised because I understood it, like it was plain English. That’s the part that still creeps me out sometimes because how natural it felt.
My little brother, who is a Muggle, saw the whole thing and freaked out and he and ran to our parents. He ended up crying and sprinting inside because he thought I was making these "creepy spitting and hissing sounds to a snake." That’s when it hit me that what sounds like a conversation to me is just Parseltongue or snake sounds to everyone else. I keep it to myself now so I don't scare him. But sometimes at night, I can hear the tiny ssnakes inside the walls. They were whispering about tasty mice or the rain. It makes the world feel very huge and magical, but it’s a pretty sad and lonely secret to carry.
I’m hoping the library at school has some old, dusty books that can explain why I’m like this. I need to know if there are others who have this gift but aren't, you know, villains. I wonder if my great-grandfather felt this lonely, or if he finally found some peace out in those marshes. It’s a lot to carry, but it’s mine. I’m ready to get started at Hogwarts.
Character Backstory: I was born in a hospital in June 5th 2014. I had a quiet, peaceful, and happy life in London. MY dad was a CEO of a successful company and my mother owned a barber shop. I always felt a connection with animals even though I am full human. One time, when I was 1 at April 5th, 2016, my grandmother took me on a stroll. Then suddenly, a deer came down the street causing havoc and it neared my stroller. Instead of harming me, it just nuzzled me and returned into the woods (TO BE CLEAR, THAT WAS NOT MAGIC). Few months later, I started pre school. I had a mostly loud, happy, and sufficient life with my family even though my brother annoyed me. When I was 11, I was writing one of my fantasy stories. I kept seeing things that gave me ideas. One time I saw this tiny humanoid creeper with wrinkles and was dressed in a dirty hand towel (Which I later knew was a house elf) in one of my mother's old jorunals. When I told these to my parents, my dad laughed and my mother smiled at me nervously as if she was hiding something. So anyway, I was writing my book and then suddenly, my brother snatched it out of my hands, and started to say it was the worst. I got so angry at him then suddenly, the paper lifted out of his hands, and turned into a dung-bomb then exploded over him. After the Dung Bomb incident, my mother had a confession to make to the whole family. She had told us she was a witch. She explained her world and how I was a wizard but my brother was not. She also explained that she didn’t want dad to get caught up oin the wizarding world because she was afraid he might divorce with her. My dad forgave her for lying and they agreed to send me to hogwarts. I bought all of my supplies and now here I am, at hogwarts
First Instance of Magic: When I was 10, I was writing one of my books then suddenly, my brother snatched it out of my hands, and started to say it was the worst. I got so angry at him then suddenly, the paper lifted out of his hands, and turned into a dung-bomb then exploded over him.

  • Your special race application must be at least 500 words.
  • Please explain why Lennon's mother hid her abilities from her husband. Lennon doesn't have to know why, but the reason must be present in your backstory. It's very odd for any witch or wizard to do this.
  • Your first instance of magic must happen before age 11.

Character Backstory:
When he was 3 years old he moved from Cardiff in Wales to London with his father. His father was a great wizard, who was sorted into Hufflepuff, his name is John Jacobson Adams, he was born in 19/07/1977 in London but quickly moved to Cardiff at the age of 21, when he met Angelina Mariah Kenrick. Angelina was a Muggle who, if she had gone to Hogwarts, would probably have been sorted into Slytherin. She was born on 24/06/1979, but her father died when she was only five years old.

They divorced on the day James turned three, when John revealed that James would probably be a wizard. Angelina was shocked and furious when she discovered that she had married a wizard. John had hidden that part of his life from her because he was afraid of exactly that reaction. A few months later, after moving to London, John started building a much better life for James. James does not remember much from that time, but he completely trusts the stories his father tells him. They always had a close and relaxed relationship, with very few problems between them.

James Kenrick Adams grew up in London. He had a quiet childhood, though it was also somewhat unusual. He lived with his father in a calm, slightly old-fashioned house filled with books. James was always allowed to touch them without asking permission first.

John started teaching James about things most people never learn about. He told him about hidden parts of the world, people who lived differently, and abilities most people could never understand. James asked endless questions and trusted that his father knew what he was talking about.

His mother was very different. After the divorce, James rarely saw her. She wanted nothing to do with magic or the world John came from. James grew up almost entirely with his father, and over the years they formed a strong bond. Their relationship felt less like parent and child and more like two relaxed best friends.

As James got older, he started feeling like his life was moving toward something important. London was not his birthplace, but it always felt like home to him. The city never seemed ordinary in his eyes. Even before Hogwarts, it felt connected to something waiting for him.

When James was only seven years old, he accompanied his father during the investigation of a dangerous magical object. During the incident, a cursed magical backlash severely damaged James’ right hand, permanently destroying his ring finger, while John lost the pinky finger on his left hand protecting his son from the worst of the curse.

Both were immediately taken to St. Mungo’s and received medical treatment, but the curse damage could not be fully reversed. The injuries healed imperfectly and permanently affected their hands. After that incident, James started approaching magic with much more care and discipline. Some wand movements became difficult, forcing him to relearn spellcasting slowly and precisely. Over time, this careful and deliberate approach became one of the defining parts of who he was.

Ironically, outside of magic James rarely seemed serious at all. He joked constantly, acted dramatic around friends, and often hid his worries behind humor and confidence. The moment he picked up a wand, however, it was like a switch flipped. He became completely focused and deliberate, almost graceful in the way he moved.

James never saw spellcasting as simply throwing magic around and hoping for the best. To him, magic was something that demanded discipline, patience, and respect. After years of practice and adaptation, he became someone whose spells rarely failed because he simply refused to cast anything he was not confident would work.

James recently discovered that his father had another daughter with a witch years ago. She is only one year younger than him. The two have only recently met, but James already finds her extremely fun and interesting.

Despite his confidence, James always wished he had more friends, something he never truly found until stepping onto the Hogwarts Express.

First Instance of Magic: His first instance of magic happened when he was dancing alone in his really big bedroom when he closed his eyes and, when he opened them, his bed disappeared. When he did it again, his bed appeared with yellow bed sheets instead of navy ones, as they were.

  • Your first instance of magic is considered too powerful. Please select something other than teleportation.
  • Your character's backstory that's written here needs to be present somewhere in your ency.
  • In your trunk, there shouldn't be nested reducios for the abilities.
  • Please explain why James's father lied to his mother about being wizard. James doesn't have to know why, but it needs to be present in the backstory. It's an unusual thing for a wizard to do.
  • Having a wizarding father, James would also not go to a muggle school. He would not need to hide anything from his classmates. Please edit his schooling to reflect that of a wizarding family's.

  • The original backstory and the new backstory are both in your encyclopedia. Please remove the old one.
  • For the attack, why wasn't James's father able to prevent the attack with magic? Also medical magical can easily cure normal wounds, so neither James nor his father would lose a finger. Please add more detail to this altercation.
Edited @Ruckus Weem

  • To be honest, I don't think fingers are that easy to cut off. But more pressing is that St. Mungo's or any wizarding healthcare would be able to fix James's and his father's hands. If it's important that James is missing finger, please choose a magical ailment or accident to do the job.

Seer application: The Knox legacy is filled with scattered seers, holders of the Sight, among distant relatives and prominent family figures on both Sebastien’s father’s and mother’s sides. The last registered Knox seer was from the nineteenth century – a distant great-grandmother of Sebastien’s – with no recognized seers after her, though many recognized before her. The Sight tends to skip generations and chooses carefully whom to embrace. Many years may pass after the last seer in a family before a new one is born, and Sebastien’s case was no different. A seer had not been born to the Knox family for a long time; some other families might have even forgotten the weight of such a legacy, but not this family. They were proud of every wizard in their lineage, proud of their blood purity, and, of course, the seer genes. Finally, decades after the last seer was born, Sebastien arrived – a seer himself – reviving the family’s legacy after years of silence from the third eye in their circle. However, since a seer’s gifts are not widely recognized in childhood, the family was unaware of the boy’s abilities, just as he was himself.
Throughout his childhood, Sebastien had brief intuition flashes – many more connected to his Sight than he could have ever guessed. He was an intelligent child, certainly a reasonable one, and though it seemed paradoxical, he considered himself a critic – never one to blindly accept what he thought were reasons of the mind, rather than messages from the unconscious or the third eye. He always regarded seers – whether those he learned about in his family tree or those he had the chance to meet – with a questioning look. Whether he believed their visions or not, he always saw them as distant and unfamiliar, something that should not have graced the earth with its presence, for it defies the human purpose of living without knowing what comes next. Yet, in all irony, he was one of them, and somewhere deep down he suspected it, even as he denied it.
Going to public places was always hell for him. It wasn’t uncommon for him to get dizzy or even lost in the crowd, after forgetting the last few minutes of his life, due to zoning out, only to find himself somewhere he didn’t remember going. His gift was especially prominent; it followed him everywhere – from crowds to isolated places, such as his great-grandmother’s room in their house, which always scared him. His head would start spinning there, and as if by some strange force, he would feel tired, pulled closer to the ground. Some places from his childhood simply felt heavy to him, especially those filled with history – not just death, but other lingering energies as well. What he didn’t yet know was that his sight would manifest more as a feeling of the room’s energy than as an intuition about events. His sight clung to the past, alerting him to passing spirits or the negative history that once haunted the places where he stood.
One example that still lingers in his mind and gnaws at his conscience to this day occurred when he and his grandparents were walking somewhere along the Cotswold Line. It was a densely populated Muggle area, but as the scenery was very beautiful and the path they followed was quieter and less frequented by Muggles, they did not mind walking there when visiting the university. They were passing through a less populated area, more like a park than a street, though the road was still suitable for Muggle cars. He remembers it being late evening in the summer, so although darkness was approaching, it was still fairly easy to see. He recalls his neck tingling, a strange urge to look back at the path they had come from. When he did, at that very moment, he saw it – a car hitting a man on a bike. He gasped as the car drove away. He was speechless, standing still, not screaming; his hand simply began tugging at his grandfather’s sleeve, at first slowly, then more insistently. The cyclist lay on the ground and did not seem to be all right. Then everything happened quickly. His grandfather rushed to the man, taking out his wand, but unfortunately the car had broken the man’s ribs, which in turn pierced his heart, and he died immediately despite Sebastien’s grandfather’s attempts at life-preserving spells. As all hope seemed lost, Sebastien was ordered to run to the nearest station and alert any Muggles to the incident. The ambulance arrived with lights flashing and sirens blaring. Sebastien’s grandmother then took him home, and despite asking the next day about the man’s condition, the boy was never met with an answer. He blamed himself; his mind traveled to dark places of doubt and fear. Maybe, if he had not turned around, it wouldn’t have happened? he would ask himself. Even so, blaming himself was pointless, for the sight was part of him, and no matter how much he wanted, he couldn’t escape it. He was seven when the accident happened. Afterward, he unconsciously blinded himself. He made himself numb to the sight, without even knowing what part of himself he was shutting out. He stopped following his intuition, and every action became purely logical, rationally explained. Without even realizing he had it, he denied a part of himself and forcefully closed the Eye.

Character Backstory:

Biography: Sebastien was born into a pureblood family in London on December 17, 2013. Both his mother and father were politicians working at the Ministry of Magic; his father was an administrative staff member of the Wizengamot parliament, handling documentation of court cases and legal processes, while his mother worked in International Magical Cooperation, overseeing foreign magical bodies. As they were both very busy, after Mrs. Knox’s maternity leave ended, Sebastien was sent to Oxford to live with his paternal grandparents and great-grandmother. His grandparents and great-grandmother taught him everything he knew about magic and more. In their time, they had been well-recognised pillars of the wizarding community, especially in Oxford, and were highly educated in all aspects of magic. They taught the boy everything, from everyday manners to the history and lineage of their family. From a young age, he was a knowledgeable and sophisticated individual. However, because Sebastien was responsible for helping his grandparents, especially taking care of his great-grandmother, who was often unwell and bedridden, he was very isolated from other children his age and did not have any friends. He would often open his bedroom window and look down at the streets below, particularly at the horse riding center next to their house, watching children his age ride horses, laugh, and have fun. The sounds of people contrasted with his everyday life of peace and quiet in his grandparents’ house, and as much as he hated to admit it, sometimes he craved that unapologetically childish connection that other children his age enjoyed. He spent his time visiting the Oxford library with his grandfather, who had taught him everything about his passion – literature. Although his grandfather introduced Sebastien only to wizarding literature and authors, given his pride in his pureblood lineage, the boy secretly read Muggle literature as well, borrowing books by renowned Muggle authors from the Oxford library in secret.

First Instance of Magic:

First instance of magic: One day, when Sebastien was six years old, he felt lonely. Earlier that morning, he had rushed to serve his great-grandmother breakfast in bed because his grandfather had promised to take him to the horse races that day. He was very excited and accidentally spilled hot tea all over his great-grandmother’s sheets. His grandfather, enraged by his grandson’s clumsiness, refused to go to the races. Sebastien was ordered to spend the whole day cleaning the bed by himself, and tea was served to him after lunch, once all the seniors in the house had eaten, for him to drink alone. It was, as always, eerily quiet. He was drinking tea at the dinner table, sniffling quietly in guilt and sadness, when, to his surprise, the toy bunny beside him picked up its teacup and took a sip from the empty cup. He was stunned, but as the bunny’s beaded brown eyes gazed at him with kindness, he gave in, and that little spark of magic brightened his sad and lonely day.
STATUS: Pending, Santiago, 08/05/2026
Reasons for pending:
- No below 100 size in trunk.
- Remove the part in his backstory that claims that he'd been reading about magic before school. He would not be more knowledgable than other students before attending Hogwarts. He'll have plenty of opportunities to build his skillset and specialize his build after starting his education.
- His Seer abilities at that age should be limited to subtle intuition flashes rather than full prophetic visions or physical manifestations. Please rewrite the parts of him having visions and blacking out in public.
- As a Pureblood family, his grandparents would not use Muggle technology such as telephones, and traditional Muggle infrastructure (cars, bicycles, etc.) is not typically part of their daily context. The scene should be rephrased to reflect a Pureblood lifestyle. Otherwise, Wizardborn blood-status would align better.
- Please also clarify Seer lineage. Seers must have magical ancestry on both sides of their family tree (even if distant). Ensure this is reflected in his application.
- Any edits made should reflect in his encyclopedia.

Jay Mina Ophelia was born to Elias Ophelia and Cassandra Ophelia (nee Jordan) in 2013 as Jayla Mina Ophelia, marking the continuation of the pureblood Ophelia line. They are an only child and, as they had no siblings, was quite lonely as a child. Their mother was very skilled in dark magic and often leaned towards using it in dangerous situations. Cassandra's dark magic was generally only used when in life threatening situations and to protect herself or her family as she was an Auror. Jay did not see their mother use it very much so it did not have much of an effect on them. However, sometimes Jay would notice that it would take a toll on Cassandra, making her more impatient, but would also make her mother more powerful, leading to Jay's mixed feelings on dark magic. Nevertheless, Cassandra upheld a very strong moral code, something Jay, even as a child, noticed and chose to follow. Jay's father was a skilled Potions Master who believed in a well-rounded education. Their mother, who had grown up being taught the importance of carrying oneself well, was often formal, so Jay tended to favor their father. Though their parents seldom fought, Jay would always notice when they did, leading to a further feeling of isolation.

This isolation, however, led them to their best friend Arden Thome whom they met on a trip to Gringotts with their father. Arden and Jay quickly became friends — Jay found themself drawn to Arden's extravertedness and Arden to Jay's quippy, charismatic nature that was buried below their quiet exterior. Whereas Cassandra might have been more worried about Arden's family, Elias Ophelia was just relieved that his child had made a friend.

As for their education, they were homeschooled. Even though Jay's favorite parts of the day was playing pranks on both her parents, sometimes they longed to go to a preparatory school before Hogwarts and meet other young wizards. Arden was their only friend and Jay longed to get to come out of their shell a little more. However, Jay was well educated in traditional subjects like maths and reading by their father, which were prioritized over the culture of the Wizarding World. Their father believed that because they would attend Hogwarts when they came of age, it was more important. He also did this to promote an acceptance of Muggle-Borns and Half-Bloods, so that when Jay encountered them at Hogwarts, would not immediately see them as "lesser than" since they had similar upbringings. Since his best friend when he was at Hogwarts was a Muggle Born, he spent a lot of time around Muggle culture and found it fascinating. However, he also taught Jay the basics of Wizarding Culture, including introducing them to important places in the Wizarding World and magical history.

A year before Hogwarts, Jay realized that they were not a woman, but non-binary. They changed their name from Jayla to Jay, which they felt fit them better and was more gender-neutral. Their father accepted them wholeheartedly while Cassandra was indifferent. While Cassandra accepted it and was careful to use their correct name and pronouns, she did not outwardly show any emotion, positive or negative, when Jay came out.

When they received their Hogwarts letter, they were secretly thrilled even if they didn't show it outwardly. As much as they loved their home, they were excited to learn more about the world around them. They were disappointed, however, when Arden informed them that she'd be attending Beauxbatons in the fall, much to Arden's chagrin. This also caused them to feel more nervous about making friends since they were expecting to already go to Hogwarts with a friend.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Their first incident of wandless, unintentional magic was on their fifth birthday when Jay got very overwhelmed as their parents were having a petty dispute over her father's education style. They got very panicked and accidentally exploded the birthday cake meant for them.
STATUS: Pending, Santiago, 08/05/2026
Reasons for pending:
-Please clarify the reference to Cassandra being “very skilled in dark magic.” What was this skill used for, and what was her intent in using it? Additionally, please clarify what effect, if any, this had on Jay’s upbringing and home environment.
- Please clarify the character’s early education focus. As the family is pureblood, it is unclear why wizarding culture was not more prominently prioritised in their upbringing.
- Make sure any edits are reflected in the encyclopedia page.
Edited!!
STATUS: Pending, Santiago, 11/05/2026
Reasons for pending:
-Could you please elaborate on why the character’s pureblood father was unusually accepting of Muggle-borns to the extent that he did not prioritize teaching a wizarding lifestyle? Pureblood families are generally portrayed as more culturally conservative and have little to no interest in Muggle lifestyles.
