In total, I'm not sure. It's definitely at least seven, but I think I've seen some adults with extra abilities as an adult slot. We'll probably find out when the adult system comes out

Yeah it's 7 abilities per student and once you graduate you get 1 more ability for your adult.

Ooof - and, just checking, when you finish all of your classes, for one year, do you immidiately get to go to the next year? or do you have to wait a whole year?

If you mean your 'homework' no. When you graduate from one year to the next one, yes a new set of homework opens up. You always graduate on July 1st. But staff may take anywhere from 1 day-2 weeks to update you into the next year. But yes, if you are active on the site, you auto graduate to the next year without having to do anything, you also get all of the previous year's spells (even if you didn't do any homework), but you still have to list them in the update trunk form to get them.

New sets of homework are given once a year. They refresh on July 1st.
