The Hufflepuff Table 2017 - 2018
As Michelle walked into the great hall the wonderful smell of food filled her nose. She had been a little late because she was finishing up some homework so she made her way quickly to an empty spot at the table and sat beside a girl with curly red hair who did not seem in the mood for socializing but was reading a book.
Michelle shrugged and started piling the hot food onto her plate, no matter how many times she saw the feast it always amazed her. She shoveled some corn into her mouth and looked around the table. She almost choked when she heard a loud boom from the raven claw table she looked over her shoulder but shrugged, it didn't concern her. She shoveled more food into her mouth and brought her attention to the book the girl beside her was reading.
Michelle chewed and swallowed quickly so she would not sound gross as she asked her about her book. "Hi, umm... sorry to be a bother. I was just wondering what you were reading." Michelle was constantly looking for more wizard books to read and expand her knowledge with. Her lack of knowledge made her feel like she was still a muggle.

Amadea was in the middle of shoveling a spoonful of spaghetti into her mouth when the girl approached her. She looked up, a stray strand dangling down from her mouth. Quickly, she slurped it up, feeling quite embarrassed. Hopefully the girl didn't think she was a slob. Marking the place in her book so she wouldn't lose it, she slid it over slightly and closed it with a soft thud, pointing to the cover.
"It's called A History of Magic," Amadea said to her. "By Bathilda Bagshot. It's one of the books we were assigned to buy before coming to school. It's all about the history of Hogwarts as well as all of the classes that we take. It's really interesting." Amadea smiled, mainly to be friendly, but also because she happily realized she spoke her first full sentences without stuttering or trailing off. Maybe she could do this whole 'human interaction' thing. She felt as though she should say something more instead of just leaving it hanging like that. "If you wanted, we could read it together. You have a copy, right? We could talk about it and stuff. If you want. That might be stupid. Sorry." Amadea looked down at her hands and twisted her fork around.

Michelle kept her giggle back when she saw that she had caught the girl in the middle of eating. As the girl slid the book over Michelle recognized the cover, it was a textbook they were required to read, maybe the girl wanted to get it done early. The girl explained the book to her and she nodded, she thought it was funny that she found it interesting even though it was a school book. Perhaps that was being closed minded, school books could be interesting too, especially if you love history.
Michelle's smile grew wider when the girl offered to read it with her, that's cool she wants to share her interests. "Yeah, that would be cool! I don't have my copy here now though..." she realized that she might need a book to read it but she shrugged. "Maybe we could hang out in study hall and read it? It would be really cool to discuss the topics after reading a chapter or something. Like a book club!" she exclaimed as she realized what she was describing.
While waiting for the girl to reply she shoved some mashed potatoes into her mouth and a few pieces of ham. "Oh by the," she swallowed the chewed food quickly remembering that speaking with your mouth open is rude and this is not her dinner table at home, "way my name is Michelle. It's nice to meet you."

The Hufflepuff Table 2017 - 2018
Charo stood for beside the table for a moment, she wasn't sure where to sit. Everybody seemed like they would be friendly and happily welcome her to join them. She spotted a couple of girls talking and decided to sit with them. She made her way over to them and sat down opposite the two girls. One had red, curly hair and the other had straighter, blonde hair. Charo didn't want to interrupt the conversation, so she started eating and listening to what they were saying. The two of them were talking about a book. Charo managed to glance at the cover, 'A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot'. She recognized the book, it was one that they needed to have for classes.
Whent he blonde-haired girl introduced herself Charo decided to slip into the conversation, "Hi, I'm Charo. I hope I'm not being rude by joining in with the conversation," she said, smiling at them. Charo wasn't usually this polite when talking to people, but she wanted to make sure that she hadn't done anything wrong by introducing herself. Her mother had taught her about manners and things like that, but Charo didn't usually listen, it was at times like these that she regretted that decisions. You just have to do your best.

Amadea smiled at Michelle, nodding along as she described a book club. "That is a great idea," she exclaimed happily. She was glad someone else shared her love of books and wanted to talk about them as much as she did. "I would love to do that. It might even give us a head start on what we learn in class. Then we'll be more prepared." As Michelle took a bite of her food, Amadea took advantage of the moment to shovel some more pasta into her mouth as well. While socializing with this girl was nice, Amadea was really hungry. When she had finished chewing, she introduced herself. "I'm Amadea. Amadea Campbell. It's nice to meet you too!"
As she was talking, another girl came sat down next to her. She introduced herself as Charo and smiled at Amadea. Amadea smiled back. Nice job, she thought to herself. Maybe you'll actually make some good friends here. "Hi Charo," she said. "I'm Amadea. Don't worry, you're not interrupting; the more the merrier!" She gestured to the cover of A History of Magic. "Do you like reading?" she asked. "I'm reading one of the books that we were assigned to get for class, but I also enjoy reading other books. Maybe we could go to the library after if you like reading too and pick out some books. Michelle and I were talking about starting a book club or something. Do you like books?" Amadea stopped talking and chastised herself for rambling. Maybe Charo didn't even like books. Then she would find this whole conversation quite boring, and probably think Amadea was a nerd.

Michelle smiled as Amadea Introduced herself, Amadea was a pretty name. Everyone at this school had such cool names, she was pretty jealous. Her eyes snapped to the new person that sat beside them. The girl with brown hair and brown eyes introduced herself as Charo. Michelle took a bit of her food and then swallowed quietly while she waited for Amadea to stop rambling before introducing herself. "And I'm Michelle." she smiled at the girl and waved a little. What other books could they read for their book club? She hoped they would read more school books but also maybe a fun book every once in a while.
"So Charo, how are you liking Hogwarts?" she usually asked the people she met this because it gave her a sense of how they were coping if they were enjoying it or bitter about being sent away, it kind of gave her an insight to their character. Michelle was enjoying Hogwarts despite how she missed her family, this place was huge and she loved the classes, it almost felt like her wildest dream come true. She's even sure she dreamt this exact situation before, like the magic school and she was a witch and she didn't even know, maybe she could see the future. She giggled a little at her thought and focused back into the conversation.

The Hufflepuff Table 2017 - 2018
If Bri were honest with herself, she had been hoping to be put in Ravenclaw (which others on the train had called the house of wisdom), but the sorting hat surprised her when it called out Hufflepuff. She walked meekly over to the Hufflepuff table. She looked around at the other first years and wondered if they had been hoping to be put into one of the other three houses too. She wanted to introduce herself but wasn't sure who to talk to. Everyone seemed like they already had groups of friends, but what did you expect from the house of loyalty and friendship?
"Hi" she said meekly, deciding to just announce her presence that way and let anyone who was interested respond. That way she wouldn't be interrupting anyone when she introduced herself. "I'm Bri." As she said this she looked down shyly, unsure if anyone had heard her or if her efforts, which felt huge to her, had went unnoticed. She looked around to see ghosts flying around, and was surprised to see the one at the Gryffindor table could almost detach his head! Things here were crazy, especially compared to her muggle life! Being a muggle born, Bri didn't know what to expect but certainly wasn't let down!

Charo liked the name Amadea, it was a pretty name, an unusual name. She had heard of the name Michelle before, most people had, but she had never met anyone called Michelle and she was excited to have a friend with that name. It was kind of a stupid thing to be excited about, but she was excited. Charo didn't know if she could call Michelle or Amadea her friends, they were sitting together and talking, but that didn't make them friends, not yet.
Charo looked at Amadea once the girl had asked her question. She liked how much Amadea talked, it was nice to have a talkative friend just like herself. "Well, I don't really read books too much, I guess it's not really 'my thing'. When I do read them it's usually fiction, I like books about adventure and action. We can go to the library though, I wouldn't mind, even if I'm not as big of a bookworm as you two, no offense, we can still be friends, right?" Charo smiled, hoping they would agree.
She didn't manage to get an answer before Michelle had asked another question, "Hogwarts is amazing! I miss my parents, obviously, but this place is a school for witches and wizards, filled with magic and all that stuff, it kinda makes it all a lot easier, being away from them for so long. It's like a boarding school. It is a boarding school... for witches and wizards. My family wasn't sure if I'd be a witch, but I got my letter, so that means I am. I'm obviously a witch if I'm here," Charo realized she was going on about something and not letting the others speak, "Sorry, I do that sometimes," she said with an apologetic smile and continued eating her food, hoping she hadn't messed up in some stupid way.

The Hufflepuff Table 2017 - 2018
"HUFFLEPUFF!!!" Shouted the sorting hat. Quinn couldn't believe it, he had been sorted into Hufflepuff. He thought for sure he would have been sorted into a house like Ravenclaw or maybe even Slytherin. Alas Hufflepuff was the house that had chosen him and he wouldn't argue with that logic. After all Hufflepuff was a great house to be sorted in and he had no doubt that interesting individual's dotted this house.
Quinn rather excited at the prospect made his way to the table where all the Hufflepuff's were sitting. Scanning the table Quinn looked for a good spot to seat, perhaps he would make a new friend on this day. Oh how exciting that would be a new friend, new adventures, and even greater mysteries to unfold. Oh how Quinn would relish time he was going to be spending at his new home. That thought still fascinated him...Hogwarts he was really here. Like his parents he was a wizard and sorted into Hufflepuff no less the house of his grandfather.
Lost in his own thoughts Quinn's attention was brought to a girl who currently had her head in her hands. 'Strange' He thought to himself. Quinn walked over to the rather pale looking, black haired girl. The mystery of the ceiling would have to wait this new possible friend in need currently was a higher priority then the ceiling. Which to be fair given how he usually is, even if she was a stranger still surprised him. 'Oh how wonderful. I found something new about myself!'
Quinn sat next to girl immediately introducing himself. "Hello there, my name is Quinn Healy a bit strange I know but I like it all the same. What's your name new possible friend!" Straight and to the point, just how he liked it.

Sarafina looked up, startled that someone was talking to her. She realized that many more people had sat down by her.
"Hello there, my name is Quinn Healy a bit strange I know, but I like it all the same. What's your name new possible friend!" he asked. She was surprised by the 'new possible friend' part, and was honestly a little nervous to answer.
"I-I'm Sarafina," she added quickly, "but I go by Fina for short." She glanced over at the boy, wondering if she should say more. "Are you happy you got into Hufflepuff?" she asked. She knew it was a difficult question for her to answer, so she wanted to see how he responded to it. Maybe she would make a friend. He seemed very extroverted and peppy. She was the opposite, but that didn't mean they couldn't be friends. Maybe it would make things easier, having a friend that talked more. She wouldn't have to add to conversations a lot herself. She needed a friend anyway. Things got boring when you didn't know anyone. She was already feeling lonely, listening to the ongoing, friendly conversations around her. For once she actually wanted to talk. She could make through at least one conversation.
