"There's no such thing as strange creatures, only blinked people" - Newt Scamander
Durmstrang NPC
Name: Werner Schmeikl
School: Durmstrang
Year: 1st year
Blood Status: Pure-Blood
Appearance:
A small, rather elfish boy with white hair, icy blue eyes, and pale skin. He has a thin face, a pretty average nose, and perfect eyebrows. He is very thin and short for his age, and has small hands and feet. Although he's ten, he looks about eight, maybe even younger.
Personality: A quiet, shy, 'soft' boy who loves bird-watching. He is very patient and has a shy smile. He prefers to be alone when he can and likes classical music. Werner is the kind to just simply 'take it', and never tries to fight back or stand up for himself. He's timid, but is protective of his close family and friends.
History: Werner grew up in a boisterous, large family (6 children- not including him). His mother loved children- his father did not. His father, Jax Schmeikl, preferred to stay away from home for the majority of the year, but took a liking to Werner and taught him how a lot of Muggle contraptions and magical contraptions worked. The nine of them lived alright until Werner turned eight- they sank into poverty. Jax couldn't take it anymore with all of the annoying children, took the oldest child, Jax Jr., and the second younger girl, Liesel, and left, leaving Werner's mother, Paula, to provide for the rest of the children on her own.
Werner, now, was the oldest child in the family. He helped out as much as he could, scavenging food, earning money, and watching out for his younger siblings. Life was hard, but they just managed to struggle through.
Werner would go around town, dragging two younger brothers along with him to search for food along the streets and collect what money they could. He taught them what his father had taught him (or tried to), and together, they spend their time outside the house.
Then, Werner received the letter from Durmstrang. His whole family (minus the father and the two siblings that left) was overjoyed (sad too, on behalf of his mother), and they bade him farewell as he left for the school.
First Instance of Magic: His sister had found something in the trash can.
"Werner- look! What's that?" She had yelled.
"I'm not going in there. Can't you smell that?" He was disgusted by the fumes of cow poop mingled with other rotten smells. This was by far the smelliest trash can ever.
"No, but look- I think it's a wad of money, what about you?"
"I said I'm not getting it out."
"But-"
"Wait- that's not money. I think that's a book." Just then- the something started moving. Like a bullet, it shot out of the can, magically, bouncing off the alley wall, landing at Werner's feet.
It wasn't money.
It wasn't a book, either.
Their eyesight must've been terrible, for it was cow poop.
Hence, his first instance of magic was being able to retrieve cow poop from a soiled trash can without touching anything.

Durmstrang NPC
Name: Elizaveta Mikhailov (She will introduce herself as Elizaveta, but ask everybody to call her Elizabeth, since that is the English version of her name)
Age: 11
School Year: second
Race: Human
Blood Status: Pure blood
Appearance: Elizabeth has dark blond hair, green eyes and beautiful eyebrows. Elizabeth looks a little bit older than her real age, she also loves dressing a little bit older than she really is. She is a little bit taller than the average girl of her age. Because of her ballet training, she always has a great posture. Whenever she walks it looks more like floating, every step she takes looks effortless, she always moves gracefully.
Personality: Elizabeth is quite around people she doesn't know, but if somebody asks her a question she will always answer, she avoids speaking her opinion. She holds her plans close to herself.
Elizabeth is average students, she doesn't stand out in any of her classes in a good or bad way. She is very sensitive and will start crying over little things.
You may not hear her say she doesn't like somebody, but she has strong opinions. If you leave a bad first impression there is almost no change she is ever going to like you. Elizaveta never says hurtful things in somebody's face, but that doesn't mean she doesn't think it or tells it behind their back.
She loves dressing up and she will only leave the house fully ready. She always takes her time getting ready, doing her hair, makeup, making the perfect outfit and finding the perfect hairstyle.
History: Elizabeth is the youngest child, and only girl, of the Mikhailov family. She has 2 older brothers and no sisters. Her father and mother planned to have one boy and one girl, but when Elizabeth's second brother was born that plan failed. Her mother did really wanted to have a girl and after convincing her husband they tried again and succeeded to get a baby girl. From the day she was born there was an unwritten rule that stated that Dorofey, her father, would spend more time with Elizabeth's oldest brother and their mother, Anastacia, would spend most of her time with Elizaveta.
At a young age Anastacia putt her daughter in balletclass, and Elizabeth loved it. At first her father didn't like the fact his child was on a muggle sport, but later on he started to use it to show those who like muggles that he also like muggles (even though he hated muggles). Elizabeth's father and mother both come from long pure blood family's and don't like muggles or muggle borns, especially her father. As you might be wondering, why would they keep their daughter on a muggle sport then? Well, Dorofey is an important man and needs to keep up his image. He brings up the fact that his daughter does ballet by important people who are "pro muggle" and with people who don't like muggles (like himself) he only talks about how great his sons are in Quidditch and dueling.
The Mikhailov are a wealthy family and they can provide their children with all money can buy, but the one thing that misses is the love between the parents. Anastacia and Dorofey are married to keep their bloodlines pure, not out of love.

New Ability: Advanced Casting
ReducioIt was the summer before Rudolf's fifth year, just after he'd returned from London and the Quidditch World Cup, that his parents had sat him down in the kitchen and told him that it was time to "get serious" in his studies. He had to admit that he'd been caught by surprise. London had put him in a good mood (which was probably what they were planning on), and after four years of hard work at Durmstrang, Dolf had been under the impression that he was "serious". He gave more than enough of his time to reading, writing, chanting. He was attentive in all of his classes and he never missed an assignment. Hell, he could name plenty of his classmates that he knew were far less "serious" than he was. But he knew that his father wouldn't take that as an excuse. It would only anger the man. So Dolf kept his mouth tightly shut and heard his parents' rationale.
They started off with the obvious, that he was officially halfway through his Durmstrang education. No words of praise were offered, but there were no criticisms, either. Just a statement of the facts: you've completed four years. Your effort was satisfactory. That was when they started talking about the future, about success. About what he had to do to ensure it. "It never hurts to work harder," he'd been told. When it came down to it, their basis was universal: they only wanted the best for their son.
And Dolf, trusting their appraisal more than he trusted his own, promised that he would up his efforts. From the first day he returned to school in the fall, his wand never left his hand. He was practicing incantations between mouthfuls at breakfast; executing wand movements in his free time between lessons; spending his evenings sharpening his skills of concentration under pressure. His mother would delight at his conviction, he thought. His father would congratulate his form. And he wanted them to, more than he even knew why. Maybe it was just to prove that he could get better. The root of magic was innate, after all -- that was what separated Dolf and his people from the Nonmagi -- but there had to be a way to improve it once you had it. Otherwise, what was the point of all this studying? And how could Dolf become any more than he was now?
As winter turned to spring, he finally started noticing results. With his tongue sharper, his arm steadier, his will sturdier, Dolf found that his spells had lots more potential than they had a year ago. They were stronger, he thought, like he was. And as long as he kept up his work, he'd have something really impressive to show off when he got back to Kyiv in June.

Charmer
Reducio
Valentin was known for being the (in)famous first-string seeker of Durmstrang’s quidditch team, and with it came fame that spawned from not just the fans’ love of the game. No, Valentin had a magnetic, charismatic personality and he truly loved his fans... resulting in them feeling that his victories were theirs. Energetic, extreme, flashy: Valentin was born for the limelight and high-pressure situations. Win or lose, Valentin was always able to say something inspiring, funny, or exciting to his people, to whom he was always selfless and loyal.
With his silky voice (inherited from his musician mother) and his striking pale features, the White Niffler stood out like no other on the quidditch pitch. Wherever he went his fame came with, so he tended to attract the attention of those around him. Still, even people with no interest in quidditch were often charmed by his positivity, spontaneity, and high-speed antics. For all his life Valentin fed off attention, actively seeking it out and thriving in its crucible. Together all of these positive facets made for a gravitational well for onlookers. However, his negative traits could also be extremely distracting.
Though not a loud boy, Valentin was one of the most impatient people around when it came to anything but quidditch or his fans. When his world seemed to exist for only these, little else could hold his attention for long unless it was as fast-paced as this quicksilver boy. Whenever he would get bored in class or other obligatory occasions Valentin would find something to amuse himself with, even if it distracted others and earned him the scorn of teachers.
In his free time Valentin was obliged by his family to perform at piano competitions and concerts, but whenever those required a bit too much waiting around he was likely to get into trouble, regardless of his mischief drawing the eyes of others around him. It didn’t seem to matter to Valentin when his impatience made a scene in public: his charismatic smile, laughter, and banter usually turned it into something positive, or at minimum, neutral.
Altogether, Valentin was naturally a charmer, but even more, when bored or lonely he went out of his way to get even more attention.

ReducioEver since I joined this marvelous world of magic, I've been asked one question invariably: Are you part Giant?
'You certainly don't look tall enough to be one.' Some would say. 'How in the world can you lift something that's nearly three fourths your size? Giant blood, surely?' I would only shrug before smiling and turning back to my books. Durmstrang had been more of the common questioners. After all, in Hogwarts, part-giants were more common. I wasn't really questioned much, being only a meek 4'11" when I first entered the school and having grown a whopping 2 inches since I've transferred to Durmstrang.
Really, I owe everything to Maddie. It was only through her efforts and her... ahem... assertive methods of speech that I was ably accepted into this school. Of course, no student would be able to attend if they could not first make it to the school itself. Survival of the fittest, as the motto implied. With this I had no issue. I had learned of the culture ahead of time, before I even considered transferring from the comfortable halls of Hogwarts, though perhaps I should have stayed in the four house's halls for a bit longer, since letters from dearest Piérre informed me of some dramatic events that could have proved helpful for preparing me for the survivalist tendencies with Durmstrang.
Even without preparation, however, (though I should not say that I was completely without preparation, for I have had some experiences with camping, fishing, and some handling with a bow,) I managed quite excellently. Within a week of my first arrival on the banks of the appointed assessment, I had finally made my way to the school itself no worse for wear than a small scar over my right eye; a trophy from an interaction that does not deserve to be mentioned here. Yet, I do not think too much about it now. Piérre is unaffected by it, which I suppose is for the better knowing that it is silent knowledge that Durmstrang shapes its students by borderline militaristic ways.
As to my strength... Well, there is not much that I can truly say about it. I have always been strong. My first Muggle guardians always asked my help picking things up, unloading groceries, pitching or felling tents. Unlike Piérre, it seemed, who received natural agility and a general tendency to be slipperier than an eel. Yin and Yang, I have no doubt.
Ever since settling myself in Durmstrang, I have been studious and uncomplacent, always seeking to improve myself no matter what. As my "Ravenclaw" tendencies proved, I yearned for knowledge, and yet, I still felt that with all my efforts, I was still much stronger than most people I had the pleasure to run into. One of these people was Hans-- Hanzo if he really wants me to call him by his proper name-- who told me about the Quidditch team of Durmstrang. Truth be told, I had not heard much about the team; Hogwarts' four teams being rather empowering and the other magic schools having their means and methods of success. Nevertheless, I decided to join anyways. I had to do something to put my unnatural strength to use, though my form did not seem to imply my strength at all.
Having played with the team for an entire year, I am more confident in my strength, and with the team now heading for the large stage, I am more than excited to prove myself worthy of being a student of Durmstrang, despite my transference from this school that we are now competing against.
May the best team win.
601 wordsYear Two- Perfectionist I (-1 Critical Fail Chance) [APPROVED]
ReducioMany people consider me to be all brawn and no brains. I desire to prove them wrong. I wish to hybridize my strength and my wisdom, fuse them into one so that I may become an unstoppable opponent, both in the magical and in practical situations. Of course, in Quidditch, there is little to no use for such a prowess, but I am not only aiming to simply be a monkey of brute force for my entire life. I intent to follow a path that I have aspired towards ever since I first went shopping in Diagon Alley.
I desire to become a Wandmaker. I want to create arcane implements and help children like myself, who had been raised by Muggles and had been unaware of the magical world entirely. Perhaps, by having once been in their situation, I can sympathize and closer connect with them and others.
But first, to do that, I will have to master the art of the wand. Certainly, I am too young to practice wordless or Wandless magic altogether, and I am not yet capable of creating or buying a new wand, butt I am conditioned enough with magic that I can begin to refine my ability to cast magic efficiently and effectively. In order to do that, I have to practice meticulously, efficiently, and flawlessly.
I have known myself to be a person desiring perfection, even as impossible as it sounds. I cannot fathom failing, or heaven forbid, a spell backfiring upon me. Even though I could easily take the blow, my pride would not permit it, let alone the embarrassment that the event would monger. Therefore, even at home, I practiced motions and incantation, utilizing a branch instead of a wand to avoid accidental spellcasting. After all, I cannot have my record tarnished by defying the Trace, especially if I am aspiring for such a high cause and job which requires not only raw knowledge, but also a reputation of respect and trust.
One by one, I meticulously practiced and rehearsed spells and incantations. One mistake is all it takes, one mistake, one misstep. My frustration was great, I assure you, but in the end, I did find myself becoming more and more effective, avoiding needless and senseless mistakes, and my effectiveness in casting spells slightly increased. Of course, there is more room for improvement, and I seek to ensure that eventually I not only will become an effective hand to hand fighter and spellmaster, but I will also never make a false move in casting ever again.
Just you wait... Just you wait...

Year, Stats, and Ability update for MadhupMadhup Hexum - Durmstrang - Third Year - Half-Blood
Name: Madhup Hexum
School: Durmstrang
Year: Third
Is your character a Quidditch Player: Yes
Quidditch Position: Third String Chaser
Broom: Silver Arrow (+3 all stats)
Reducio
(Art commissioned from Lunad1viner @ Deviantart)Appearance: At 4'9" and eleven years old, Madhup is small yet durable, a lithe little wizard more prone to feats of agility than strength. His chin-length hair is black, fluffy, often unkempt, always on the shaggy side. With sandy tan skin, eyes an odd blend of olive green and iron, he has a warm color palette often unbalanced by bold attire. The child likes to be seen, proud of his flashy red uniform and fond of shiny accessories. More often than not, his expression is smug. (References)
Personality: Madhup spent his first few months at Durmstrang trying to convince others that his name translated to "Tiger". It was not long before the actual meaning was discovered: honeybee. Refusing to let his ego be bruised, the boy ran with the truth, boasting that his small size was compensated by a fierce sting. He was a showboat, a proud and cocky imp, letting criticism roll off of his back like water. Unfortunately, he reacted this way to all criticism, even the constructive sort, such as remarks from professors concerning poor grades. Some perceived him as loudmouthed and fun-seeking. Others know "Napoleon Syndrome" when they see it.
History:
Madhup swaggers about as if he is the prince of Durmstrang, but the truth of his origins could not be humbler. Unknowingly born a half-blood, he was raised by his father in India, a downtrodden muggle of a man. His primary profession was construction, though he was an independent laborer without the security of a company to uphold him. From a young age, Madhup followed his father to work, aiding with small tasks such as sweeping an area or digging for foundations, ditches, and pipe trenches. He was raised blissfully ignorant of the fact that his mother was a witch, for his father claimed to be "too pained" to speak of her in any capacity. He would take her true fate to his grave.
Poverty in India is tragically commonplace, but the life of an orphan is especially dire. Madhup spent months dodging the shoddy infrastructure of orphanages, instead running with a pack of other homeless children, living on dark and dangerous streets. They narrowly evaded those who would make leashed thieves of them, surviving on scraps often stolen from the market. He could not explain the occasional oddity that occurred around him, such as an angry merchant's switch falling flaccid when he tried to strike Madhup for pinching a sweet. These mysteries were forcibly overlooked until he was approached by a witch on his ninth birthday.
Naturally, it was difficult for a street child to believe he belonged to a world of magic. Yet the "tricks" this witchy woman showed him were too elaborate to be unreal, too fantastical, too tantalizing. As soon as Madhup was told this power could be his, he complied. Unable to rear children of her own, the Scandinavian witch, Thekla Hexum, took a particular interest in magical orphans. Madhup was legally adopted alongside a young witch from Italy (Leira) and an even younger wizard from Sweden (Felix). The three developed a healthy kind of competition. Felix was driven to become a healer, Leira strove to be a dangerous duellist, whereas Madhup endeavored to be "the greatest at all things", more often boasting about how he would surpass them rather than actually studying. Thekla secured his enrollment at Durmstrang, where the boy shows a keen interest in the dark arts above all. He does not discuss it, but Madhup is actively seeking the identity and whereabouts of his purportedly deceased mother.Stats (+6 = 41 to match Pericles', +1 from Duel win)

Reducio(WC): 431Never knowing his witch mother, losing his muggle father at an early age, Madhup's formative years were spent in blissful ignorance of magic as a whole. The boy was not raised watching anyone depend upon the convenience of magic, nor was he under the impression that he would one day posses such a power. In his world, strength, speed, and cunning were the traits which assured he could survive and thrive. There was no arcane crutch to look forward to. So, carrying on as if he himself were a muggle, Madhup focused on honing himself physically. He would need a swift foot and strong situational awareness to get away with much of his mischief. But life was not all a mere matter of duration. Madhup was a lover of fun, he knew well the importance of play and was ever a lover of games. Fiercely competitive in all he did, the boy strove to be the best in all feats. One of his favorite games was Maaram Pitti, a sort of "no rules dodgeball". Everyone attempted to hit anyone with a ball, though there was no catching involved, only dodging and throwing with all of one's might. There was also tennis, which was slightly more of a novelty, as one needed to find a court and rackets rather than just a ball. But when they could get their hands on something flat for striking, the courts were easy enough to track down as they grew in popularity, some made with chalk lines and ratty repurposed fishing nets. While Madhup was not the strongest nor most strategic of his fellow wildlings, he compensated with swiftness and precision. Whether striking a birdy, throwing a ball through a hoop, dashing marbles together, or smashing a ball in the face of a friend, he had a keen eye when it came to accuracy. He could snatch a ball away from an opponent just as readily as he could grab a bit of food being tossed between mongers, both nimble and equally unafraid of the discomfort that could come with catching something at an awkward angle. It was a small price to pay for capturing whatever it was he wanted. Even after his adoption by Madame Hexum, when magic became a regular routine in his daily life, he would never give up his games. He seemed to know just how to sneak up on an opponent, waiting for that ideal moment when they were so sure their target was in their sights and reach, only for Madhup to burst between them when he was least expected.Stats: Pending

ReducioPERSONALITY
Nikita is a girl who is bitter to most people, but of course is known to open up once she gets to know someone. She’s actually very sweet on the inside, and tends to attract many friends as people get to know her. She has a fear of needles, and never enjoys going to see a nurse. She does, of course, enjoy making friends and spending time with them. On the other hand, she is quite competitive and sometimes a bit jealous. She has Ailurophobia (and I assure I am aware of this phobia)
ReducioAPPEARANCE
Nikita is a girl with red hair and dark blue eyes. She is tall for her age, and her hair usually frames her face like a curtain. She likes to wear darker colors, such as maroon, black, and gray. Occasionally she will wear other colors.
ReducioHISTORY
Nikita was born and raised in a pure-blood family in Stockholm, Sweden. Her mother and father both met at a quidditch game, in which they were cheering for different teams. Her parents always encouraged her to play to win, while her grandma would shake her head. Nikita loved her grandmother dearly. When she was younger, she always stayed by her grandmother and told her stories. Because her grandmother lived with them, Nikita saw her every day. She made sure she went outside, too. But eventually, when she turned 7, her parents decided she couldn't stay inside all day with her grandmother. They hired a housemaid to look after her grandmother. She ventured outside, and saw a cat. She followed it into the woods near their house and found herself lost... and alone. Her heart started beating. All of a sudden... the cat jumped and slashed her across the cheek. Being 7, she cried and found herself very scared. Before running off, she kicked the cat (poor thing) and saw it go flying. She clutched her chest as she found it hard to breath. Luckily, her mother came home and found her. Nikita later on found herself very scared of cats. When she was 10, she was taking care of her grandmother once more. She had grown to be competitive and found interest in quidditch. She went to almost every game she could, and had posters scattered all over her walls. When she was questioned about what she wanted to do when she grew up, she would simply say that she wanted to be a beater for a famous quidditch team. Because her parents also wanted a good education for her, they had her learn English, so she could speak two languages. Her parents and grandmother were very happy when she was accepted in Durmstrang. ReducioABILITIES
Obnoxiously Strong
Nikita wasn't always super strong. When she was younger, she was always tall and skinny. She walked awkwardly, dropped things, she was clumsy. When her parents started telling her about sports such as quidditch, Nikita found herself in love with a sport. But she couldn't be a beater for a famous quidditch team like THIS. She took up many chores outside such as moving wood around from the woods outback, pulling up roots and more. But this wasn't enough. She began to run laps. She helped her family carry heavy things. She started working with wood to build things, which gave her muscles. But she wanted to push herself. She did work outs every day, and woke at the crack of dawn every day just to run more laps. And she became strong, very strong. Nikita Lebedev had strength. Sure, she was competitive. You would think she made sure she was strong. But the thing is, she was very strong. It was strange. But eventually her parents figured that could work towards her advantage in sports. Unfortunatly for Nikita, they also figured it would help in doing her chores outside. It first came into view a while back when she was 6. A log had fallen on some little kids, and none of them could lift it. She ran over and easily lifted it. She thought nothing of it then. The kids all ran off and Nikita set the log down, wondering if she was supposed to feel tired. At 7, she was helping her dad carry furniture around the house. When she went outside, she would hit a wooden ball with a club for the fun of it. She would hit the ball SUPER far. One time, she was at a playground with some other kids. One girl seemed to be the boss, or so she thought. She made the mistake of telling Nikita to get off the monkey bars. Nikita finally got annoyed and shoved the girl. The girl fell back onto the soft ground, but left a big dent. Surprised, she asked her parents later if that was normal. Of course they said no. Nikita then realized that she could really hurt people if she took it too far. But she was careful. Through all of this, Nikita still sat by her grandmother at every chance she got and talk to her about her dreams. She also would laugh and say that people better not get on her nerve. But she wasn't joking. Because Nikita Lebedev was strong. Obnoxiously strong. (WC: 423)

To clarify as per owl communication the "sending a cat flying" is a bit more metaphorical than originally believed. This was the character's first instance of magic.
I cannot promise you a specific quidditch team role. It will depend on what roles are already open but we will be discussing quidditch positions in coming weeks.
