Ginger is right about the classes, but if you look back one page, I posted a lot of links with what you can do in the meantime! Ten days pass quicker than you think and 20 posts even more so

Welcome @Aurora Ranvier! Our dear Opeila did post a very detailed guide about how you start on the site. You can read it here [Opeila's post].

The reason why the players have to post 20 messages and wait for 10 day is only to see if they are truly active enough to be on the site. Then they'll be able to unlock their report cards to have access to the classes. I suggest that you read the FAQ thread [click here]. All the questions you have about Hio are all written in there. But there is a trick to get up to 20 messages in one day if you play a few games in the Games room [click here].

If you need any help you can always owl the staff members: your Prefects, the Professors or the Headmaster [click here].

To add to that- The professors are all real people who spend real time to grade the homework. If every new person could immediately do the assignments, there would be a flood of homework from people, who don't plan to stay active- because many of the new players go inactive again after a short while. That way the professors have more time to spend on the assignments from people who more likely are going to stay on the site
