The Ravenclaw Table 2019 -2020
As she slowly walked towards an empty spot, she tried not to look at others, she tried to camouflage and seem invisible; however, she wanted to feel the warmth she had left when she came to Hogwarts, to feel accepted, to be friendly.
Elisa seated quietly on the table, the new faces were overwhelming. She had been waiting to seat in this table, but now that she was there, this spot seemed lonely, dangerous, strange. She had always felt this way, then (when she was home) she would curl up in a hidden place and read a book, now it was different, she knew she had to make some friends. She wanted to make her school life bearable.
She awkwardly looked at other people, unable to start a conversation. She felt lost, frustrated, she felt weird in this new place; she definitely didn't belong to this place. Her eyes wandered around the room as she ate.
Finally she stood up, trying to seem confident and walked through the hallway. This was her second day at Hogwarts, a place that she used to think about as marvelous; now it was scary and became a synonym of lonely. She was heading to a safe place: The library.

The Ravenclaw Table 2019 -2020
When the sorting ceremony was finally complete, Wesley slowly walked to an empty seat at the Ravenclaw table. And tried to avoid all eye contact while doing so. He expected to be sorted into Huffelpuff, since that's the house his parents were sorted into when they attended Hogwarts. He didn't know what to think about it, and just assured himself that he will get used to it.
He got distracted from his thoughts while looking around himself, and admiring the beautiful hall This is gorgeous..., he thought by himself. And he immediately felt a bit more positive about his future at Hogwarts. Maybe everything would go fine after all, and the other students will accept me as a Ravenclaw. Even though deep inside they wouldn't have any problem with my parents being Huffelpuffs.
Wesley looked around the table, at the other 1st year students which just got sorted. He saw a lot of other people, who actually looked as nervous as him. Which he didn't expect, nobody could be more nervous than he currently was right? It was really weird realizing that some of these people could be my future friends. He really wanted to say something, but was still a bit too nervous to do so. He decided he would just try to gather the courage first.

Vincent saw Kathy shiver at, as he assumed, the mere thought of raisin bread. Her nose even delicately wrinkled when she politely declined his offer to get some for her, causing him to smile subtly. “I wonder what happened to make her resent even the thought of raisin bread that much. It must have been something really ugly” he thought to himself as his gaze briefly wandered off while he tried to find possible reasons. He failed to find a plausible one. Though curious about the why he decided not to proceed in that direction, as he in no way wanted to upset Kathy which, considering her reaction, asking about it most likely would. Besides there was way more interesting stuff to talk about than raisin bread. With making the mental note in his head never to mention, let alone eat, raisin bread in Kathy's presence ever again, he dropped the subject. He looked back at her, noticing she still seemed a tad uncomfortable. “I wish I knew how to get her at ease some more.” he thought as he focused on what she said.
"Maybe something would be nice, thank ye for askin I appreciate it."
“Well, at least I didn't make her lose her appetite,” Vincent thought. “maybe finding her something she actually likes might make her a bit more comfortable.” He considered the idea for a second. His instincts apparently didn’t want to wait for his brain to decide for or against it as his eyes were already scanning the table to see what sorts of food were within his direct reach. He discarded half of the options at first glance, most because he had no idea of what it was, some because they looked downright unappetizing, even though he had always learned the saying never to judge a book by its cover applied to everything and thus also to food. In this particular situation though, he wasn't going to take any chances, so he decided to go for one of the safer options, or would he?
“How about I make you a fresh, warm scone with an abundant layer of strawberry marmalade and a generous scoop of clotted cream then?” he asked, smiling at her while gesturing towards a large, dark blue glazed pottery plate with about a dozen huge fresh scones on it. Next to the plate, placed in a perfect circle, were eight glass jars filled with a different tastes of marmalade ornately written labels indicating each of its contents. Smack in the middle of the circle towered a large pitcher, matching the color and pottery style of the plate with the scones, that was filled to the brim with thick clotted cream. A few ivory-hilted butter knives and a wooden ladle were symmetrically placed on an old wooden cutting board that, judging by its battered and scratched surface, had seen its fair share of action.
“Or do you prefer something more adventurous like those filled ice cones over there?” He pointed at a rectangular wooden plate filled with what could best be described as green dough-made ice cones filled with some sort of blueish mash. They measured about six inches in length and four inches wide at their widest end. They didn’t look particularly unappetizing, but somehow the green colored dough, if it was dough in the first place, seemed a bit strange. The filling vaguely resembled mashed fruit, but he couldn’t think of any fruit that was that light shade of blue. All in all they didn’t really work up an appetite as far as Vincent was concerned. “No idea what they are, what they are made of or what they taste like, though.” he said with a grin. “They actually resemble something I made out of clay when I was three to be honest.” His grin widened. “I tried to make my mother eat them, but for some reason she refused. I still haven’t figured out why.”
While anticipating Kathy's reaction to his question the grin disappeared fast as he pondered her remark and his earlier thoughts about deserving to be celebrated and be happy for making it into Hogwarts in general and Ravenclaw more specifically. From whatever side he looked at it, he could only admit she was actually right. Spot on. After all it was pretty special to be invited into Hogwarts, especially since there were no wizards in his family, nor have there ever been, at least not to his knowledge, so if anything he should be proud he was chosen to be the first. “Yay for me!” Vincent thought, with self-consciousness induced sarcasm. “No, stop it!” he corrected himself right away. True, he hadn't consciously had a hand in all this, in fact he had no idea what had earned him the honor of being invited to Hogwarts, but nevertheless here he was. Chosen. No reason not to be happy about it to be honest and most certainly no reason not to be proud either. On the contrary.
As for the hat's choice to sort him into Ravenclaw, the more he thought it and its consequences through, the more he knew how special it in fact was. Sure, meeting either of the other houses' requirements would have been awesome, but meeting Ravenclaw's was, well, a dream come true probably. He knew that, given the choice, he'd have chosen Ravenclaw all day long. However, even though he always felt Ravenclaw and its requirements would best fit him, he never thought he actually possessed all of the qualities needed to be a Claw. And yet those qualities were now 'officially' attributed to him by the sorting hat. So, what if the future seemed a little blurry and uncertain? So what he had no idea what to expect? Things like that never bothered him before, so why start now? “Bring it on!” he thought to himself as he felt some of Kathy's enthusiasm rub off on him and his lips curled in a wide smile. He once again shifted his gaze to Kathy, his new found friend. “Thanks Kathy,” he said, still smiling. “Thank you for this. Your level-headed look at things was just what I needed. Of course I would like to be your friend. Daisies popping out of snow are rare find, I'd be a fool missing out on that. Now, how about getting you that scone? Or perhaps the clay ice cone?”

“How about I make you a fresh, warm scone with an abundant layer of strawberry marmalade and a generous scoop of clotted cream then?”
Oh boy now did that make Katherine's mouth water. Just looking at it made her regret not getting something on the table any sooner. 'See Kathy ye dafty? Ye could've missed a whole lot of good pastries if ye just said no so good last thinkin' she thought as she bit her lip in hunger. 'Strawberry marmalade sounds so magnificent right about now.' she thought to herself once more as she looked at the splendor of the scones. She could just taste the sweetness of the marmalade with the clotted cream on her tongue and just to think to pair it with scones is a grand idea! ' just give the inventor a prize' she mused. "Maybe I should just go with the scones", she mumbled under her breath as she looked at the scones in hunger with her twinkling brown eyes.
"Or do you prefer something more adventurous like those filled ice cones over there?”
Now that caught Katherine's curious mind. She was stunned at just at the sight of it. Sure it looked simple but she could just tell that maybe there's a flavor that just dosen't meet the eye at first.....'or even the tongue...' she chuckled in her mind as she heard about his jest of it looking like clay. "Huh", she tilted her head and peer her head a bit closer to it just wanting to know just what it was. Now Katherine was extremely curious. She couldn't help it after all, a curious Kathy always needed answers even if it was the bitter truth. Besides that, she could only imagine what the taste of these Green clay cones could have. Despite her tongue and stomach growling mentally at her for the scones, her brain was just mystified by this mysterious cone she's never seen before. 'Is it sweet? or maybe it's bitter...ooo what if it's savory!' she thought as the excitement and curiosity just seeped through her smile, her eyes now sparking with the need to solve and unsolved mystery to herself.
"Now ye hooked my interest laddie, I think you and me will get along mate. I'm happy to be your friend too! Maybe we can send owls some time?", She turned to take her eyes off the cones and smiled over at him while she lifted her hand and patted his shoulder. "Anyways your welcome for the daily dose of positivity. You just needed some I reckoned after all once in a while I do too.", She chuckled before she brings her hand back and starts to rub her chin with a curious grin again. "Now clay cone sounds very mysterious don't ye think? Maybe the three year old inside ye is dyin to know what his green clay tasted like. Though I myself is more then curious to know what they taste like. How about this laddie, if we don't like them then scones it is deal?", She held her hand out for an yet unanswered deal. 'Hope he dosen't think I'm crazy' she thought again sheepishly but with more of a sarcastic tone.

Just when she was halfway through the corridor, she remembered she had left her book at her seat. How could she forget something so important? She felt ashamed. However, she felt relieved, better, maybe Hogwarts wasn't that horrible. Her eyes wandered around the room, it looked mystical, gorgeous. After all, this would be her home for some years. She remembered how anxious she was in the Sorting Hat Ceremony and how grateful she was for being part of Ravenclaw. The warmth she missed was coming back to her, she no longer felt sad; in fact, she felt proud and cheerful.
Memories from home came back to her, the smell of bread, and the unbearable cold; she remembered how her face lit up when she heard her mother sing, now her face lit as she acknowledge she was fascinated by Hogwarts. Finally she was ready to start a new adventure in a new place, she wanted to make friends.
Looking as confident as possible, she made her way back to her seat, than she saw someone sitting next to where she had been. She approached, took her book and awkwardly smiled at the boy sitting next to her, he seemed anxious, just like she had felt a while ago; probably he was. Now that she was more confident, she spoke to him: "Hi," her voice did not tremble, "my name is Elisa Teagan."

Wesley heard a voice next to him, and when he looked where it came from he saw a girl with a book in her hand. He realized she was talking to him. “Oh, h- hello” he stuttered, “I’m Wesley Allen”. Still a bit surprised by the fact someone talked to him, as he didn’t expect to talk to someone this early after arriving here. But he felt a bit more at ease after the girl talked to him, and the castle around him started to feel a bit more like home bit by bit. He quickly gathered the courage to say something else, but didn’t really know what to say yet. He decided just to follow his instincts and just started to talk.
“Q- quite exciting right, being here at Hogwarts?” he said to the girl. Because that’s the best thing he could think off, but quickly after saying it he started wondering if he said the right thing. He was still a bit afraid of getting himself a bad reputation at Hogwarts, so early after arriving at Hogwarts. Since he dreamed so long of going. And made so many preparations to assure everything would go perfect during his time here, or was that just something he wanted to make himself believe.

She smiled at him, and noticed his trembling voice. The feeling of having someone to talk to was exorbitant, the long time she had spent without her family had been rough. Fortunately, talking to him was a good idea, he seemed nice and actually answered to her question, something she did not expect. Even though she knew almost anything about him, she thought he was sweet, he felt like her, like almost everyone; being far away from home, not knowing how their new life would be like. Now that she had found someone who she could talk to, she did not want to ruin it, she started to feel anxious, but made her best to look self-assured, confident. So she made here best to answer appropriately.
She rapidly thought how to answer his question, she loved Hogwarts and was happy to be a Ravenclaw; she was heading to the library, a place where she felt secure, and maybe she could invite him. "It is a nice place indeed," she said, "but I prefer the library, have you seen it yet?" She wondered if he liked reading, maybe she should have said something different. Now, she could only wait for an answer.

He noticed that the girl started smiling, and he slowly started to smile as well. He had the feeling she enjoyed talking to someone else as well, and even felt the same way about being at Hogwarts as he did. Just as nervous, and unsure about her future at Hogwarts as him. Which made him believe more people around him in the giant hall did as well. Realizing that made him feel way even more confident than before.
He heard her question about the library, and thought by himself. He did really like the library, since it was a great place to study all sorts of magic. And he really liked reading as well. “Sure did, o- one of my places at Hogwarts so far”. He said, while wondering if she liked the library for the same reasons as he did.
The more time went by, the more tired he started to feel. After a while he decided to go to the common room to get some rest. “I- I think I’m heading to the common room, to get some rest” He said, having a strong feeling he would see her again. Maybe in the library, or Common Room. He expected to find out soon enough.

The common room... She definitely did not expect to hear that, just when she thought she could send some time with someone else, she received that response. Maybe she could just go to the common room as well, but she disliked the idea; there were far too many people in there, talking to each other, she would feel isolated. Whereas in the library no one would talk to someone else, everybody would seat quietly in the same room, with only a book as their companion.
“I am heading to the library, see you soon,” she couldn’t dissimulate the frustration and hopelessness in her tone. She smiled faintly and made her way back to the corridor. Now it seemed endless, she hid her face again and look at the cover of her book, maybe she took the wrong decision, why did she always distanced herself from others? She remembered the never ending afternoons she spent with books back home. She would close her room’s door and read for hours, until her mom forced her to get out of her room.
Now it was too late, she had already made her way through the corridor. Anyways, she wanted to see him again, he was he first person he talked to, he was in fact nice, he seemed as disoriented and lonely as she was. She looked back, she knew they would meet again.

Kathy seemed to ponder the thought of what to choose. She looked at the scones and Vincent heard her mumble something, but he couldn’t make out what exactly she had said. He saw her eyes twinkling at the sight of the warm treats, so he assumed she had a thing for scones, either with or without marmalade and cream. However, his remark about trying something more adventurous seemed to intrigue her as well. Then, though her gaze was still fixed at the table, she appeared to have pulled her thoughts away from the seemingly difficult choice she had to make as she started talking to him:
"Now ye hooked my interest laddie, I think you and me will get along mate. I'm happy to be your friend too! Maybe we can send owls some time?"
She turned to Vincent, looked him in the eye and patted him on the shoulder. Slightly surprised Vincent looked back and smiled. He didn’t need too much time to consider this request. He was happy he had made a friend this quick, and Kathy seems to be equally happy. Besides, he liked her light-hearted, positive view on being invited to Hogwarts, a perhaps much needed counter balance to his own doubts and insecurities. Yeah, they should get along just fine. “Of course, definitely.” Vincent replied “I’d be more than happy to send some owls every now and then to stay in touch. Apart from that I’m pretty sure we’ll run into each other at Ravenclaw Tower as well, don’t you think?” He looked at Kathy as she pulled her hand back from his shoulder, chuckled and then started rubbing her chin as if she had a very tough decision to make.
"Now clay cone sounds very mysterious don't ye think? Maybe the three year old inside ye is dyin to know what his green clay tasted like. "
Vincent burst out laughing after hearing this remark. He had to admit she might actually be on to something here. The cones had certainly piqued his interest and he was definitely tempted to try one. Though he couldn’t recall too much of his life from when he was three, he could very well imagine himself willing to try one of his self-made clay creations just to see how it would taste. Just like he could now. In fact, he even recalled his mother teasing him with it a few years back, when they were cleaning out the house. He decided to throw out all of his clay creations and among them was the infamous ice-cream cone he tried to feed to his mother. When she saw he was going to throw it in the bin, she couldn’t resist reacting. “Are you sure you want to get rid of this?” she had asked with a smirk on her face. “They’re a delicacy. At least, that is what you tried to make me believe when you were trying to shove them in my mouth back when you were three.” She had grabbed it from his hand and tried to stuff it in his mouth. “Come on, don’t be a scaredy-cat now, I have seen you try to eat much less appealing creations before, why not give this a try? I have actually always wondered why you hadn't tried it yourself back then.” "Probably because I wanted you to have only the best." He had replied as he tried to evade his mother's tries to make him eat the old, hardened clay lump. The fight had ended with both of them crying with laughter. Vincent took a moment to gather his thoughts and swallow the lump in his throat. He sure missed his mother. Promising himself he would try to find a way to contact her, he shifted his focus back to Kathy and noticed her holding out her hand, an enigmatic grin on her face.
"How about this laddie, if we don't like them then scones it is deal?"
Vincent looked at the mysterious green cones and found that his curiosity had beaten his common sense in this case. Yes, they looked rather appalling with their light green, almost translucent crust and the unusual blue colored filling, but whatever they would taste like, at least they wouldn’t be poisonous. “Not really a huge relief.” Vincent thought. "Oh well, here goes nothing." He shook Kathy’s outstretched hand. “Deal.” he said as his other hand reached for the fork next to the plate with their new to discover delicacies. Like a skilled cook he flipped one of the cones on a small plate. It turned out to be a warm snack with a crispy crust and the filling seemed to have the same consistency as mashed potatoes. It smelled like something he knew, but he couldn’t place what exactly. They looked a little less apalling now. He handed the filled plate, a fork and a knife to Kathy and then helped himself to a cone as well. “Bon appetite!” he said with a doubting smile. “At least it smells familiar, although I don’t really know like what. Hope you like it. On the count of three?”
