Mikael Halldorson had always tried to be conscious of how other's may perceive him. He wanted nothing more to fit into the social climate that surrounded him. Afraid of not fitting in, the fear of being rejected by his fellow peers was constantly in the back of his mind. As a young child, Mikael looked to those around him to figure out wrong from right. Piecing together a mask, where he was nothing but the golden child to his parents and the friendly student to his peers. Despite this, Mikael could not help but hate the mask he himself had formed and the rules he had created for himself. His life became a How-To Guide on how to properly act in specific situations. Weddings and funerals. Playdates and recess. Grin here. Frown there. Smile but not too much. Laugh but not too much. Be empathetic, not apathetic. Pretend you actually care. Afraid to break the rules, but hating every second while under them. His fears stuck fast to him like a tar pit unwilling to let go of its latest victim. The mask he wore holding him captive for all of eternity. Yet, ever since Mikael met Yefim in his first year at Durmstrang, his mask has begun to crack. At first, the cracks started small though as time passed they slowly spread across the entirety of his porcelain mask. At the beginning of his third year, Mikael's carefully constructed mask shattered into a million pieces. Unable to handle the stress of continuing to live the lie any further. Mikael couldn't keep pretending he cared for those around him. The need to pretend to be someone he is not and to fit in has vanished. For the first time in a long time, Mikael's face feels naked when he stares into the mirror. Nothing left except his true self, and he swore to himself to never hide behind a mask ever again. It felt like he had finally come home after a long vacation. An unsettling aura seems to hang constantly around Mikael now. Like a cloud of smoke hanging and suffocating the surrounding environment. Anyone can see the stark difference between the boy and his younger self. A more genuine boy stands in front of his peers now. Apathetic to those around him. No longer willing to hide behind formalities. Mikael's eyes had always been his most striking feature. This fact has remained true, though, now his blue eyes were hollow from the inside out. Bright eyes and an ever-present smile seemed to define Vyacheslav. Perhaps not taking things seriously made him foolish, but he enjoyed living life. He felt emotions powerfully and the joy that came with the dawn of a new day never ceased to refresh him every morning. An energetic spirit and a laugh always at the ready made him get along with many people. His impulsivity and the fact that he was rarely ever quiet got him into his fair share of trouble, but he would bounce back each time, and his recklessness made him fun. He was incredibly loyal and would do anything to make sure that the people he cared about would keep smiling.

He grew up with an older brother and parents who owned a pub. People from all over the world passed through and Slava would never hesitate to attempt to entertain them in return for a few stories. When he was little, kind visitors would buy the cute kid with a smile too wide for his own face a snack or gently tell him about their travels. Adventures had always been his favourite—both to hear about or to attempt to go on. He dragged his brother on many a fantasy quest in their childhood, most of them inspired by the tales he had been told. When a few more years went by, he took more of an interest in sports or fighting as adventures, but he still enjoyed talking to the people who spent time at the pub.

Maksim was far better at sweet-talking than Slava had ever been, but that hardly bothered him. His eagerness made up for whatever refined smooth-talking he lacked, and he developed a natural charisma as his early childhood faded away. There was something about his mirthful energy that tended to attract people without him having to try. It was in his nature to make sure that he and anyone who didn't oppose him was having fun. He had no qualms with doing things that other people would consider embarrassing or making silly faces to try to cheer a friend up. He had no training in proper etiquette compared to many of the purebloods that filled the school, but he truly cared and he was nothing if not real and genuine in everything he did.

Fake masks to make people like him was never his style. As long as his brother and his closest friends still cared about him in return, he would not worry himself with whether a stranger liked him or not. Despite that, he would never hesitate to try to impress someone or rise to a challenge, so long as it was by being himself. The more he grew up, the more sure of himself he became, and when he was confident in his own abilities, it showed. It allowed him to love other people fully without much penalty, as he knew that even if they hurt him by leaving, his family would always be there for him and he wouldn't hate himself for being unable to please everyone. The content child would instead go into most situations with an open mind and an endless amount of excitement.

If you knew Arjan Oberoi, the first word you would think was 'charmer'. There was no question about it. Well... That's probably not exactly correct, to be fair. You could probably question that - in fact, please do. In reality, it is probably more precise to say that the boy is distracting to look at. It is his appearance that makes him catch the attention of many around him.

He's tall, good looking and has muscles that only seem to be increasing in size. With the level of attention he pays to his appearance - from his physique to his hairstyle or clothing - he expects people to look at him, and they often do.

Of note, this is not necessarily in a romantic or flirtatious way. There are many reasons people might be distracted by his looks. He has muscles and a physique that shows that he is dedicated and willing to work hard. People often appreciate that, even if they don't find him attractive. In some cases, his reputation can sometimes be the reason. He has a mixed reputation. Rumours of him constantly getting into fights or being hotheaded and quick to anger. However, on record, he also appears to be a decent student. He's respectful to the teachers, can be polite and civil to your face and sometimes, people question if the rumours have any truth behind them. The mixed reputation is a little distracting but also part of his charm. In a way, people are never quite sure where they stand with him. It could be that they don't trust him - understandably - and are watching him to make sure he doesn't do anything.

However, he is also just deemed rather attractive - at least outwardly - even sometimes by those that dislike his personality. He has a pretty cute smile, gorgeous hazel-brown eyes that look like they are looking directly into your soul and a way of making you feel special. Well, until he actually speaks. In reality, he's an idiot who should never open his mouth. He tries to be smooth and it probably works on some people but most likely think it's awkward and ridiculous. Arjan lacks a certain level of wit or a charming personality, for sure. He is not exactly what anyone would consider 'smooth' and is more likely to be silly, cheesy or foolish than smooth. But he presents himself in a certain way and from afar - aka when he's quiet - he can be rather distracting to look at.

This comes from years of training. Being in a pureblood household, with a family that focus on the importance of appearances and reputation, Arjan learned how to present himself at gatherings. No matter how angry he got, no matter how stupid he thought everyone around him was or how much he wanted to just punch someone's face in, he would bite back his tongue and appear polite, respectful and charming. It was all about the reputation. Of course, he would spend an extra hour afterwards exercising to remove his pent up anger. Boxing, for example, was a really good outlet for him - at least, when he had magic to remove any signs from his knuckles or boxing gloves to prevent them in the first place.

Over the summer holidays, he had a few experiences that started to show him just how charming he really was. At least, in his head. One incident took place in the "Capture the Base" event over summer camp. Students from Hogwarts, for example, were totally into him - charmed by his handsome good looks and incredible charm. Lydia Cooper totally fell of him! Literally. [At the very least... he fully believed that she was into him, regardless of what the reality may have been. In his head, she literally fell head over heels for him and his charming personality and good looks].

Incidents like this was evidence that he was really rather charming and it boosted his self-confidence to new heights that those who knew him would not have considered possible. This extra confidence, the smirk, the bad boy reputation he was gathering... they all seemed to have their own sort of charm to it. All in all, he really was a charmer.

Name: Hänne Emelin

School: Durmstrang
Year: First Year Second year (they are a year ahead of us, no stat difference)
Appearance: Hänne has long, deep red hair and brown eyes. She has a small, button nose and thin eyebrows. Her face is round and a little chubby, and she usually has a blush in her cheeks from laughter. Her face is quite pale, but she gets freckles in the summer. She’s quite short, but that doesn’t stop her from exuding a sense of surety. She walks with a slight limp (and sometimes needs a cane) from an accident when she was younger, and she has a long scar on the back of her right arm from the same accident. You would normally find her wearing long sleeves and trousers to hide her scars, and she likes to wear the green pea-coat given her the year before she left for Durmstrang.

Personality: Hänne is bubbly and outgoing — the ultimate extrovert. She laughs at everyone’s jokes, even if they’re not funny, and has a surprisingly kind sense of humour. Had she gone Hogwarts, she would have been a Hufflepuff. She is loyal and caring, and will stop at nothing to help those she considers family. She enjoys motivating people to do their best, and will always have a quote by a famous author — be they Muggle or magical. She’s a very skilled witch, and enjoys making things levitate the most. Her friends know that she has a ferocious temper, and after seeing her skills, many do not even try to cross her.

History: Hänne was born on the 21st of May, 2009. That Sunday, the sun was shining and it had actually begun to feel warm. Her parents, Nikolas and Venla Emelin, were both half-bloods, and lived in a small house near Alajärvi in Finland. They are both extraordinarily loving parents for Hänne, and she appreciates them all the time. When Hänne was born, her parents took a job as housekeepers for the Murtaja family at Linnanmurtaja, the family castle. Because of this, she was often around and liked to play with the Murtaja’s children, Anja and Ethaniel.

When she was two, her parents moved out of their house and into Linnanmurtaja permanently. Soon after, they decided to send her to a Muggle school to educate her about useful things such as maths and language and so on, because they did not have the time to teach her themselves or the money to hire a tutor. Hänne soon made many friends there, and hated that she couldn’t tell them about magic.

At the age of five, she displayed her first signs of magic. It was small, but significant. One night, when she was exceptionally tired, she could not be bothered to get up for dinner, and her plate of food, along with some cutlery, floated over to where she sat — hence her love for levitation and Charms.

A key turning point in her life was when she realised that Durmstrang was a boarding school. Because of her isolation from the magical community, she never knew this. Being very close to her parents, she was devastated that she had to leave them, so she began distancing herself from them and spending more time with her friends at school. Obviously, her parents began to worry, and a rift between them grew. When Hänne departed for Durmstrang, she behaved coldly and impersonally towards her parents, thinking that this would be a way for her to miss them less. However, she now misses them more than ever and hopes that over the summer, she’ll be able to visit them.

Something strange has been happening (if you accept the plot hook otherwise ignore) -- Anja and Ethaniel have been sending you letters by owl. A strange happenstance considering the fact that they were both muggles (presumably). They appeared encouraging regarding the trip to Hogwarts this spring. They also had a lot of questions for Hänne such as "how does she get there" and "who makes sure she gets there safe" laced in between childish notions and memories that Hänne would recall.
