Patton had always found it strange how young his grandfather looked. For being almost 75 years old, he looked way too much like he was in his forties for him to be normal. But, strange as it seemed, Patton’s dad either didn’t notice or didn’t find it unusual as he never talked about his dad’s condition. Though, Patton really shouldn’t be surprised that Pop never mentioned anything, considering he neglected to tell him about the wizarding world until he noticed that the nearest pencil broke when he got angry.

Cut to a few months later, and Pop finally remembers that he needs to tell Patton things in order for him to know them. This conversation started as all conversations do, by doing something else that sparks it.

“But, Ma, I don’t want to put sunscreen on!” Patton whined, much to Ma’s amusement.

“Well then it’s too bad you take after your dad’s side of the family. Him and his horrible sunburns,” Ma laughed, rubbing sunscreen into Patton’s arm.

“Tell Pop his family sucks,” Patton grumbled, shooting a glare at his father, whose grey eyes twinkled with the faint effects of a smile.

“Is he also the reason I don’t have canines?” Pop just shrugged, as if Patton hadn’t noticed how he never smiled with his teeth showing and how he tended to be a mumbler, as if to purposely hide the fact that he even had teeth.

“Your father has canines. Yours will grow in eventually. The x-rays from the dentist show there are teeth there.” His mom gave a reassuring pat to his shoulder before continuing to rub sunscreen on his arms.

“Yeah, those are your fangs. Just bare your teeth and they’ll show up,” Pop added.

“Haha, real funny.” Patton rolled his eyes and stuck his tongue out at his dad.

“I’m being serious, Pat, just bare your teeth. Dhampirs’s fangs don’t show all the time. They’re called retractable for a reason.”

“What’s a dhampir?”

“You are. I am too. It’s someone who’s part vampire.” Pop bared his teeth, his fangs popping out as he did so.

“Let me get this straight. First, you forget to tell me you’re a wizard for most of my life and now you’re telling me one of your parents is a vampire? Which you just so happen to also forget to mention for most of my life?”

“That’s on me, I will admit that.” Pop gave an awkward chuckle. “But you can’t tell me you never noticed my dad was a tad bit… weird, for lack of a better word.”

“Of course I noticed. His eyes are weird and he looks way too young for someone over 70 years old.”

“Well, now you know. Your granddad’s a vampire, and you and I are dhampirs. That’s also why we get horrible sunburns.”

“So it’s all grandpa’s fault, got it.” Patton paused, letting all of that sink in before saying, “I’ll let him know he sucks the next time I see him.”

“Don’t do that.” Ma spoke up for the first time in a while, bringing the conversation back to sunscreen. “You’re all set, kiddo. Sunscreen’s on, you can go out and look for rocks or whatever it is you wanted to do.”

And so Patton thanked Ma and went out to look for rocks, baring his teeth a couple times just to see if his dad was right, which he was, so he stored this information in his file cabinet of a brain.

Patton was born as an only child to Dennis, his wizard father, and Audrey, his muggle mother, on January 4, 2014. From the moment he was born, he was labeled as unusual, due to the contrast of his pale skin and his dark eyes. His mother was worried, but the doctors told her that Pat just took after his dad, which quickly reassured Audrey because Dennis seemed normal enough.

That is, until Patton started displaying signs of magic. At this point, Dennis was forced to tell Audrey about the magical world and the fact that he is a dhampir and his dad is a vampire. Audrey took it well, surprisingly, but she decided that it was Dennis’s job to tell Patton when he got a little older.

So, Patton lived the first seven years as a normal kid who would hang out with his few friends and doodle during math class, blissfully unaware of anything that would make him “abnormal.” He did eventually notice that strange things happened when his emotions were heightened, for example, the nearest pencil would snap whenever he got angry.

After this happened multiple times, Pat consulted his parents. Dennis took the opportunity to explain the basics about the wizarding world, however, he did forget to mention that he was a dhampir, which was revealed a couple months later. Patton was a bit miffed that his dad continuously neglected to mention important details, but he is appreciative that Dennis is always patient and understanding with him.

When Patton got his Hogwarts letter, he was outside looking for rocks when a large owl landed on a park bench nearby. He read the letter and took it to his dad and they went shopping the next day, and now here he is in his first year at Hogwarts.

When Patton was about 3 years old, he woke up from his nap and waddled out to the living room. His Ma would never forget looking into his eyes that were supposed to be deep brown and finding, for a couple seconds, that they were a bright blue. His Ma then called for his Pop to come look, at which point, Pop had to carefully explain to Ma that the wizarding world exists and that their son is a wizard.

Discovery- One day one of my friends invited me to the park to play. She also invited a few other people, muggles due to my half-muggle heritage. We were playing around and doing whatever kids do when my friend found a snake! They didn't know what it was and tried to play with it. I was the only one who could understand it and felt the fear in its eyes. Suddenly the snake lunged, missing my friends by an inch. I immediately stepped forward, trying to tell it that we weren’t going to hurt it.
“It’s okay, I’ll tell them to stop,” I whispered.
I told my friends to back away. I turned around to their shocked faces. I tried to ask them what was wrong.
“What were you saying?” they asked scared.
“What do you mean?” I replied, confused.
They ran away extremely scared and I wondered what I had done wrong. I went home and asked my mom. She explained that I was a parseltongue. She didn't think it was strange and applauded my ability. I am a parseltongue because of my grandmother's happens to be a descendant of a some famous parseltongue. The trait wasn't passed to all members of my family, just a few. It tended to skip generations. That's why my mom isn't a parseltongue.

POV Natasha -
Being a parseltongue felt different from other things. It felt like I had a special connection to snakes. I could really feel them, their emotions, their thoughts. I could really understand them. When people said they were scared of snakes, it confused me. How could someone be scared of something that was so beautifully deadly? I had a connection to snakes. In zoos I used to spend a lot of time around the snake enclosures. I felt so sad that they had been trapped in cages for the entertainment of the muggles. I really think that beauty isn't something that is represented by peacefulness and cuteness. I think that a deadly beauty is the best kind of beautiful. A beauty that can be admired and looked up to. But of course being a parseltongue also means that everyone thinks you're the great- great grandson of Salazar Slytherin. I also thought that I would surely be put in Slytherin, but I was put in Gryffindor. I tried to hide the fact that I was a parseltongue. Who wants a freaky snake-speaking Gryffindor. It’s not like I have any friends to tell. But somehow somebody found my Hogwarts file and now the whole school knows that I’m parselmouth. I expected to be teased for a while, but everyone kinda go over it. A few people still whisper ‘snake girl’ when I walk pass them, but other than that I think I’m actually getting comfortable in this place. Even with the ability.
My whole family are a line of slytherins and the occasional ravenclaw. I have to live up to that. Being in Gryffindor was a disgrace. My mother hadn't cared, but I knew the rest of the family looked down on them. Especially because my mother married a muggle. It's the only thing that reminds me that I am part of the family, though I don't take their name. My family is the Dean family. They are not entirely pure - blood, though they sometimes claim to be. My father chose to take my mother's last name, Blackwood. We rarely meet with relatives or anything. Being a parseltongue is the only thing that connects me to my heritage, my legacy.

Backstory -
Reducio
My father is a muggle, and my mother is a witch. My mother's name is Ariana Blackwood, and my dad's name Ralph Blackwood. My dad's name was originally Ralph Tomken, but he changed it to my mother's name. When I was born my mum wasn't sure if I would be a witch or not. I have lived in Dublin my entire life. My mom and dad used to live in Greenwhich before moving to Dublin after they got married. Though, we sometimes go to London for a few months for my mother's work. My mother works in the ministry. She is part of the Department of International Magic Cooperation. My dad works in a company called TATA. We live in a medium - sized house by the sea. We also own 2 cats. My mom used to be a Ravenclaw. I discovered I was a parseltongue when one of my friends saw a snake. They didn't know what it was and tried to play with it. It almost attacked them but I managed to calm it down by speaking to it. My friends were so shocked, and I was very confused. My mother later explained that I was a parseltongue. She didn't think it was strange and applauded my ability. When I got sorted into Gryffindor, I have to say it came as a surprise. I always thought that I would be sorted into Slytherin or Ravenclaw.

First Instance of Magic: I first showed signs of magic when had made a tower with blocks and it broke. I was very angry when I suddenly made a building block fly! This was when I was 5. My mother said that I was laughing at the block flying, not knowing that I was doing it.

Character Backstory:I am the daughter of Eliane Nightshade and Rowan Nightshade. They are a respected and happy couple living in London. I am an only child born to the muggle couple and kind of their miracle baby as my mother did have a miscarrige a couple of years before i was born. I have 3 cousins on my fathers side, and i don't really know much about my mothers as she had run away from them to marry my father, who is the love of her life, plus her family is really strict and controlling. My parents have always taught me to be a fighter, but to also be kind. I am very smart and I love to learn new things. I am also a very active person. I also have a wild imagination. My years growing up my parents would drop me off at muggle school and in the afternoon my dad would pick me up. We would watch put favourite movies like Avengers. In the evening before my mom comes back home me and my dad would prepare dinner. After a hearty dinner we would either bake or just vibe to songs in the living room. They would then gove me some milk and cookies before bed. They would tuck me in and maybe read me some stories or sing me a song. Our weekends would be filled outings or just a lot of naps. Any achievement was always celebrated with ice cream. Shopping with mom was always fun as we had the same style and book shopping with dad was the best as he would let me get as many books as I wanted to.

First Instance of Magic: It was thanksgiving after my 10th birthday at my paternal grandparents house. While the adults were in the backyard, my 3 cousins cornered me in the living room while i was nose deep into a book. They started mocking my white bangs and my freckles, and calling me names. My oldest cousin took it too far by mocking me that i was adopted and not related to them because of the white streak. I started angry crying and tried to hit my cousin with her teddy bear but i couldn't as he was faster than ,e. He kept saying it again and again. I cried and screamed so hard and loud that a couple of books from the nearby shelf flew out and hit my three cousins in the head. Before they could recover the adults came in from the backyard and my parents found me kneeling on the floor crying hugging my teddy bear. My father picked me up and asked me what happened. After finding out they immediately went out the door and left to their house.

Hey Hunter, so we need some edits before we can officially index you. To make it easier to follow I will put what needs to be edited into segments, so a small checklist has been created for you!

1. Statistics - Your current statistics currently total to 31, but your total should actually 35 since you are a regular human.
2. Ability - Prodigal Defense Against the Dark Arts Learner is a regular ability which you can apply for here!
3. Backstory part 1 - For your backstory you need to have a total wordcount of 220 words, and unfortunately your first instance of magic does not count towards this total, neither does visual appearance or personality! Please tell us more about her family, what was it like growing up?
4. Backstory part 2 - When coming from a muggle-born family and the kid is found to be magical, since they're a non-maj family and know nothing of the wizarding world, instead of an owl coming to let them know of their acceptance into Hogwarts. A wizard instead comes to explain to the parents and inform them that way instead.

Please owl me to let me know when you've made the required changes, or if you have any questions.

Nina always knew her father was a wizard and that her mother never had magic of any kind. What she knows from her parents reminiscing is that her mother immigrated to England from Vietnam as a young girl. And her father is of English and Italian background.

Her father is an author that slowly assimilated into muggle life after meeting her mother. While she may not have been constantly around magic, she knew of its existence from a young age. In the privacy of their home, her father practiced some magic around her as a norm. Thanks to her family’s bond, it became easier to balance the idea of having a muggle identity while also having the ability to use magic. Although, there have been a few magical incidents inside the home that have caused unnecessary stress on her mother.

She has two younger siblings, a brother being 6 years younger and a sister being 8 years younger. Prior to getting a letter from Hogwarts, she had a normal home life with muggle friends. Her father of course fixed any accidental magic from her end. She had a small circle of friends at her school in Leicester (her best friend being a girl named Marcie) whom she’ll miss once she goes to Hogwarts. A part of her feels guilty for hiding the fact that she has magic but she hopes that she can keep her friendship with everyone. She has told Marcie that she’ll be moving away (a little white lie) but she’ll be sure to visit during the holidays.
First Instance of Magic:
Nina’s first instance of magic was playing in an inflatable kiddie pool. She was around the age of 4 when she somehow created a bunch of soapy bubbles in the water akin to a bubble bath.

Character Backstory:

Concetta is the second youngest of the Poisionwoods, a pureblooded wizard family who settled in England in the 1970s after travelling from Germany and France. Her parents both graduated from Hogwarts as Slytherin, and are known to excel at potionmaking as opposed to other kinds of magic, leading to her capitalistic father creating the 'Poisonwood Potion' line of premade (but not very effective) off-the-shelf potions, which is how the family built a rapid fortune. Instead of selling to fellow wizards, they marketed towards Muggles as a novelty drink. If you are inclined to purchase, there are also magic versions for the wizarding world, but there aren't many repeat customers. Prior to the business taking off, both her mother and father were potioneers, but were fired due to the subpar quality of their potions.

Due to their riches, Concetta and her siblings have never gone without, consequently adopting covert spoiled attitudes and expectations. Concetta recognizes some rants of her's may be spoiled and whiny, so she doesn't always vocalize them, but they do indeed still exist. Another thing that her parents gave her in terms of qualities were a prejudice towards muggleborn wizards and anyone non-pureblood. She never has called a muggleborn out of their name and will outwardly treat them as equal to herself, but she was easily riled against them and harbors a deep-seated resentment.

Along with her parents, both of her older siblings have attended Hogwarts and been sorted into Slytherin, creating a tense expectation to keep the pattern. Though they have never overtly stated the disappointment in her, she can tell from the avoidance of the topic that nobody's particularly happy about her being sorted into Hufflepuff. Despite being a close family, the siblings have a bad habit of integrating annoying hexes and charms during petty arguments and tiffs. Consequently, there's a wand basket that their Mum makes everyone put their wands in at dinner.

As a young child, she had a dream of playing Quidditch, but it was quickly forgotten when she got hit in the face with the ball. The way it made her see colours with a spinning head made her reevaluate the ambition. Other than Quidditch, she had also taken part in ballet, theater, and musical preforming arts which were short lived, highlighting her bad tendency to give up on things she's not initially talented in. In primary school, she excelled at reading, and read at a rapid pace with sufficient comprehension, but where she excelled at language, she lacked at maths, struggling with basic multiplication. The other subjects varied between the other two depending on if they leaned more on language or number skills.
First Instance of Magic:

Concetta's first instance of magic occurred when as a toddler, she was allowed to play with the cat. Being young and curious, she pulled the cat's tail, tugged on his whiskers, and grabbed at him. When the cat hissed and went to scratch her, he disappeared and reappeared on the ceiling for a few seconds. As he was up there, the family got to see him, and the only other person in the room was the toddler crying that the cat is now out of reach.

Estella didn't believe in prophecies. That is, until she discovered she could create one. The House Cain was known for its luminal advances and prophecies, but never did she believe she could have the ability too. Her House had a distant line of great seers, one being her grandmother Marcelle herself. She was told she was a perceptive child, but was it only perception or something more? The question was answered on a dry afternoon, the sun hanging inconspicuously as if it knew something the others didn't. A usual day at the manor, everything falling into mechanized precision. She was at the lake, gazing aimlessly at the ever changing clouds. Perhaps it was the unnerving stillness in the air, or the fact that the wind was blowing more harshly than usual that unsettled her, or that's what she told herself. A book perched on one hand, the other twirling a wizard chess piece, she asked her faithful companion and familiar called Celestipherine von Whiskerton (celeste for short) if she sensed anything out of the ordinary. The sly cat just gave her a dry look, as if being disappointed in herself to get such an unworthy partner. With a resigned sigh, she slumped to the grass as if expecting an answer to fall out of the sky. In a way, it did. Abruptly, as if forced in a daze, she found glimpses running through her mind. You can't really describe it as glimpses, not exactly, they were like loud thoughts echoing strongly in her head. It felt like the moment when you were standing a bit too close to the edge at the highest tower or the feeling of getting caught in a torrential flow, unable to fight against the unyielding waves. The strong feeling that something was going to happen, whether it be minor or large. And she felt something was going to happen to celeste. She felt her sprinting throughout the woods, as if being chased away. Instantly, she regained her conscious and found the cat still staring strangely at her. Caught in a moment of panic and relief, she clutched her tightly in her arms. Obvious sounds of displeasure arose from the cat, but Estella paid it no mind. Deciding to stop her little picnic, she returned to the manor, the remnants of trepidation still in her eyes. Locking herself in her room, she sagged towards her bed expecting the blankets to guard her from the peculiar thoughts. Alas, it didn't and she was again lost to the realm of Morpheus and the nagging hands of intuition. Jolting awake, she found her memory still staying at the odd thoughts of hers. Often taking a walk whenever she couldn't sleep, she fell into practised steps down the manor and into the woods. Again, something seemed to nag at her, telling her something was wrong. She walked through the damp earth, her footsteps light as snow. Letting the wind console her, she sighed at the peaceful sensation. That was, until she saw a distinctly familiar outline of a feline sprinting through the woods. She found celeste being chased by some unidentifiable creature. Her feet acted faster than her thoughts, and quickly arrived at the scene. She identified the creature to be a barghest, a massive jet black hound, usually associated with omens. Reaching softly for her familiar, she swiftly held the cat in her arms and backed away silently. The hound watched silently, eerily still. It was very strange, thinking back on it, but barghests were not uncommon in europe. She heard rumours of them haunting few homes not so far from hers. Not looking back, she practically sprinted to her house. Dawn was approaching. Later that day, after confessing this to her parents, she was told she may have intuitive feelings and may grow as a seer like Marcella, her grandmother. She didn't know how exactly to react to that, so she just gave a curt nod. She later took the guidance of Marcella, her sweet but stern grandmother, who was more than happy to be of help. And that was the start of Estella's devious journey of giving false little accusations towards her peers but ending up as the truth nonetheless.

History:
Reducio
Estella came from a prestigious line of great witches and wizards. The House Cain was known for its luminal advances and prophecies. Silked by its astral mystics and nobility. Though the family was a bit shrouded in mystery, the name was still whispered reverently throughout the Wizarding world. Their contributions in Astronomy and Alchemy were unparalleled. The family had their fingerprints on almost all fields of magic, some even veiled through the roles of unmentionables. A House as old as the constellations themselves. Born to Velaria and Silas Cain, both exceptionally talented witch and wizard and exceptionally well parents too. Velaria belonged to House Caelum, an equally well respected and revered House and their contributions lay more on the martial aspects with magical combat and potion mastery. She met Silas Cain, who at the time, was a favoured alchemist and had their long lived flame of ardent passion. And the Fates were much sweeter, considering how quickly their families agreed on officiating their relationship. Her household was warm austerity. The love was evident throughout the firm walls of the Cain Manor. Estella was ever grateful for receiving such tenderness. Even though she was the only child and heir to the House, the pressure was hardly evident. Estella was quite driven to earn the respect as a witch, and not just as the member of the House Cain. That was perhaps why she sometimes took academics a bit too far. She wanted to be the Heir, not only in name but by her contributions. But often her intelligence was veiled behind jests and pranks. Though it was just a diversion for her perceptive eyes.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
It happened when she was five. Her constant rebellions and the little gifts she left for her parents, usually affiliated in them ending up as test experiments for her pranks were not that welcome, it seemed. And when they finally threatened to not allow her to go to hogwarts, she was overcome with profound desperation and started a downpour in the middle of the hall unintentionally.

On 16 January 2014, Danielle Kim Angeles was born in a small hospital in London to two regular Muggle parents who thought the strangest thing in life was a late train. She grew up in a small third-floor flat in North London where the background to her childhood was filled with traffic sounds, neighbors' televisions, and rain on the windows. Sharp, quick city English served for everything from arguments to bedtime stories. Nothing in her early years hinted at the existence of the wizarding world, much less that she would ever be part of it.

Danielle's primary school had cracked playground tarmac and slightly crooked library shelves, but she loved it because of the books. In class, she was a quiet girl who finished her English assignments early and wrote much more than the word limit, after which she would stare out the window during math as if there were something of importance happening in the clouds. She read mystery novels, adventure stories, and any book that promised secrets or hidden societies. She tucked a battered notebook into her backpack to rewrite endings that disappointed her. Teachers described her as "bright but distracted," while her parents worried that she was spending too much time in her own head, always dreaming of other worlds.Danielle always been a fan of the books and never knew magic existed till her 11th b-day.

Everything changed the summer she turned eleven. One afternoon, the doorbell rang and a stranger in a long, rain-dark coat appeared at their doorstep. The visitor introduced themselves as a professor from a boarding school in England. They asked if they could come in, saying that what they were about to say would sound unbelievable if shouted up a London stairwell. At the small kitchen table, the professor pushed an envelope across to Danielle, inviting her to open it. Inside was a letter on thick parchment bearing the crest of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It informed her that she had been accepted as a first-year student and included a list of required books and equipment. Her father tried to laugh it off until the professor calmly drew a wand from their coat. They made the sugar bowl lift gently into the air, tip over each teacup, and then return to the table without spilling a grain. In that moment, the unsaid explanation for all of Danielle’s strange experiences became clear: she was a witch—specifically, a Muggle-born witch, with no known magical family behind her.
The conversation that followed was long and exhausting. Her parents demanded to know whether this school taught normal subjects, whether their daughter would be safe, and how they were supposed to send her off to some castle they had never seen. The professor explained the basics: Hogwarts was hidden in England, the term started on 1 September; there was a special train from a hidden platform at King’s Cross Station, Muggle parents could see their children off and then talk with them by letter, carried by owls. They also described how Muggle‑born children were always visited in person by a school representative, precisely so families would not think the letter was a cruel joke. By the time the professor left, Danielle’s parents were still anxious but agreed to it.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
At eight years old, Danielle had her first magical incident that took place during a busy school trip to the Zoo. The visitors in her class had been herded through the Reptile House, a historic hall that is mostly dark as the visitors walk in darkness with bright enclosures of snakes and lizards glowing around them. The teachers were preoccupied with counting heads and reading the information boards while the children stood tightly packed against the glass, squealing and fogging it up with their breath. While this was going on, Danielle’s closest friend slipped on the smooth floor and stumbled towards the low fence bordering one of the snake pits, moving too quickly for any adult to react.

Danielle’s hand shot out in horror as she screamed out her friend’s name. At that precise moment, the laces on her friend’s trainers snapped open and twisted together, yanking her feet out from under her and sending her crashing backward onto the safe path instead of forward into the enclosure. Uncontrollable laughter erupted from her, due to the surprise of seeing a huge object. The rest of the class too laughed at it, considering it to be an accident due to luck. Someone ought to teach the teachers how to tie proper knots, they joked. The only one who stayed quiet was Danielle, as her heart raced over and over as to why the lace could only come undone when she screamed.

All those years I put in for the American Dream
Is it worth all the work if you can't be here with me?
'Cause I fly Stockholm to LA, leave my feelings on the plane
Worries fade away when I hit the stag.

Mat was born in the evening of March 31 2014. It was snowing that day, and the pale grey light streaming through the window made the atmosphere in the room ethereal, suspended. His mother Liv, slumped on the cot, stared exhausted at an indeterminate point in the white sky, while his father held him and whispered disjointed phrases. Even though the Healer had said that the newborn was as healthy as a horse, they couldn't stop examining him, afraid of finding a problem. But Mat was fine, he was a normal baby. Well, almost normal.
Mat grew up in the country house that his paternal grandparents had built in the hills near Inverness. His father was an expert broom-maker: he had founded a small shop where, together with his friend and partner, he worked and carefully enchanted wooden broomsticks. As is well known, artisanal activities do not see rivers of galleons,, but there was never a shortage of customers. His mother, on the other hand, worked in a bookshop and wrote books. She was a cultured woman who had spent most of her life studying and researching. She often recounted how, as a young girl, the Sorting Hat had merely touched the tips of her hair to assign her to Ravenclaw. Mat's grandfather was a Muggle and had made his living raising sheep. He was a man of another era, serious and authoritative, but in front of his grandchildren, his tough bark melted like ice in the sun, allowing a paternal and jovial character to emerge. He had taught them to take care of animals, to cultivate a vegetable garden, and to rejoice in the little things.
And then there was his brother.
Mat had a brother, Ben, who was three years older than him. Ben was a little taller and thinner than him, with a pointed face and eyes that appeared both sad and charismatic at the same time. For Mat, he had been a role model and playmate, and their bond was strong. Ben was mature for his age and had an independent and sincere character that was magnetic. In the small group of young wizards they hung out with, his opinion was always the most listened to, and even the older boys respected him. He was the kind of kid who could handle himself in any situation and always seemed to know the wisest thing to do. He spoke little, only meaningful words, but because of this, when he opened his mouth, everyone listened. Mat had always seen him as an example, as what he should be, but as he grew up, another feeling came alongside admiration: the desire for independence, to have a personality of his own, not to be considered just a copy of his brother. And so the cases in which their opinions differed became increasingly frequent. However, Ben did not take offence, but observed this side of his brother with curiosity and satisfaction.
During his childhood, Mat spent many hours outside with his brother and a couple of their friends. The hill behind their house was their playground, where they spent whole days exploring, playing, or just lying on the grass. Growing up, his parents allowed them to use some old broomsticks, so playing Quidditch in the hill field became their favourite pastime. It wasn't exactly a professional set-up (there was only one goal, consisting of a basket tied to a tree), but it was enough for fun. But on the other hand, as he got older, lessons also began. Every day for a few hours, his mother would instruct him about the history of magic, explaining how their world was organised, the Ministry, the relationship with Muggles, but also some non-magical knowledge that she knew he would no longer have the opportunity to learn once he started Hogwarts, such as mathematics and English grammar. Mat's childhood was generally quite carefree, and on the day he found himself in front of the Hogwarts Express, beneath all the trepidation and anticipation, he felt a hint of melancholy for that period of his life that was now over forever.

When Mat was 6 years old, he was walking down a hill with his older brother and a friend of them, a wee wizard who lived not far away. They had been playing quidditch all the afternoon, with a soccer ball they found in town and some old broomsticks, and were very tired. As they were staggering towards home, Mat tripped and fell for several meters off the cliff side before stopping on a rock, hitting his head hard. To his surprise, he managed to get up and wasn't feeling sore or hurt at all: he checked the back of his head expecting at least some blood, but nothing. He smiled upwards to reassure his companions, who were running down worried, and replied with a shrug at their questioning look. When they told what happened to their parents in the evening, they were relieved to know that Mat was indeed a wizard, but also a bit sorry for not having witnessed their son's first magic.

Max grew up in a way you might call unusual. His parents are big on the outdoors, and have made the decision for the family to live out of a tent. Hunting and gathering their own food, never staying in one place for too long. Not much connection with the world, magical or muggle.

His mother is pureblood, with a large extended family. She is definitely the black sheep of the family, both in the way of living and the choice of partner. Max has met them less than a handful of times, and the relation does not seem to be improving. His father on the other hand is muggleborn with his only family being his father whom he no longer speaks to. Max has taken after his fathers accent which is rather broad Irish with a few more posh pronunciations from his mother. The couple enjoy living to the side of the rest of the world, having very little to do with it and keeping the family apart from as much as possible.

Max was homeschooled before starting Hogwarts, his parents teaching a few subjects each. This has resulted in Max despite being curious and eager to learn, is without knowledge of and about things and events others might find common knowledge. What he however has a lot of knowledge of is his special interests.

Max has a twin sister called Drew. When the time came for them to attend Hogwarts it was a battle of will. Since Drew is a squib, their parents believed that attending school was unnecessary for Max as well. He could learn everything he needed right there. Many heated arguments later and a few threats of running away, Max is headed to school with his parents blessing. It was devastating leaving his sister behind, but with daily letters the longing is manageable.

Max was about eight years old when it happened. The family had just moved camp, and they were all busy setting up. Max and his sister were busy trying and failing to hang up a swing. An old car tire they had picked up a few weeks ago, secured with some rope. The look for a nice branch to hang it from was swift. The perfect spot was right next to them. Now the job of guiding the rope over the branch. After a few futile attempts of throwing, Max relented and climbed up. Well up on the branch he inched foreward and laid down on his stomach to catch the rope when it was thrown. Today he still don’t know what happened. Perhaps Drew threw too low and when he reached down to grab it he overbalanced. The result was him sliding off the branch and falling. Instead of hitting the ground and breaking anything and everything, he hit the ground and bounced like a trampoline.

Character Statistics: Your stat total should be 35 if fully human, 30 if you have a special ability/race.
Stamina 6, Evasion 6, Strength 5, Wisdom 8, Arcane Power 5, Accuracy 5
Character Special Race/Talent: If your character is a magical race (such as part Veela) or has a magical talent (such as Metamorphmagus) please state the name of it here and provide us with the application. You can find all talents and races on the first page of the list of magical races, magical talents and special abilities.
Remember: you need to register your character to Index within 30 days of validation to be eligible for a magical race (such as part Giant) or have a magical talent (such as Parselmouth) and you need to write a 500 word (maximum of 2K word) application describing how this fits your character (as in describe how they exhibit this magical talent or race) and where it came from (example, your grandmother was a Vampire, you had a distant Seer ancestor, etc.). Once you are registered as human, you can no longer apply for a special race.:

Character Backstory: This needs to be 220 words (maximum 2K words) on its own. In validations the entire application with your appearance and first magic needed to total 220 words, so for many of you we will be looking for you to expound upon your character.:
Calder is from a tight-knit and affectionate family. His family includes his father, mother, and maternal grandparents, all of whom have always loved him very much. They are all true Ilvermornians. His mother is a great admirer of the magical world and frequently comments upon her appreciation of Hogwarts. His family all pursued successful careers and George comes from a relatively rich family (though he doesn't brag about it, of course.).
Calder has developed in such an atmosphere of encouragement and gentle interest in magic, even though his family had never anticipated its inclusion in their actual lives. He can speak both Hindi and English fluently, even better than his family.
Calder is a fundamentally warm, affectionate person, one who can effortlessly create connections with the people around him. His charm and kind nature tend to bring people to his side, and he finds it difficult to leave people out when he is the life of the party. He does, though, have his fiery moments—when he is teased, jeered, or mocked excessively, his temper flares quickly, betraying the fact that though he is kind, he is not a person to be provoked far.
Nevertheless, Calder has a great sense of self-restraint in other aspects. He is careful not to form addictions, to objects, to habits, or even to distractions, and is seldom tempted. One exception exists, however: his sweet tooth. Calder has an irrepressible affection for sweets, a minor flaw that sometimes contradicts his otherwise controlled existence.
First Instance of Magic: This should have already been written to pass validations. We just want a copy written in this application so we have a record of this.:
Calder's initial experience with magic was properly disorganized. One afternoon, while playing with his favourite toy car, he accidentally made a teacup levitate almost two feet above the table. It hung in mid-air like a floating marionette with invisible strings. Calder forgot to pluck it down due to his shock and wonder at what he had just done. It seemed like something his mother loved to read. But alas! Calder's father chose that moment to enter the room. He shrieked loudly, causing the teacup to crash to the floor and shatter into tiny fragments. What had been a moment of (accidental) magic, became a timeout, a broken teacup, and a lot of remorse. Nevertheless, it signaled Calder's start into the world of magic, undoubtedly.

- To attend Hogwarts, George needs to live in the UK/Ireland, so we will not be changing the residence to Mumbai.
- Please remove a mention of the Harry Potter books/movies. As our universe is set within them, it would be quite strange for characters to have an awareness of.
- Please ensure your history here matches the one in your encyclopedia.
- Furthermore, the one in your encyclopedia is only 114 words. We require a minimum of 220 words of backstory.
- Please make sure your FIOM is not AI-generated. Additionally, please refrain from explicit description of parental abuse, per our site rating.
- You will also need to have stats – Stamina, Evasion, Strength, Wisdom, Arcane Power & Accuracy. These all have numerical values & you can read more on them here: viewtopic.php?t=6266
