Edward was born in Wiltshire, England to Mikael Hawks, a pure-blooded wizard who attended Hogwarts when he was a boy, and a Scottish muggle, Alicia Hawks. He grew up on stories told by his father about their family’s history and the wizarding world but never truly believed them, and was convinced that they were just bedtime tales.

They moved from their cottage in the countryside to the city of York when he was five to be close to mother’s side of the family, which took some time for Edward to adjust properly though the wooded area behind their new house made it feel like he was back in Wiltshire. Shortly after they moved, his mother gave birth to his younger siblings, a pair of twins, Joshua and Emily.

At the age of eight, Edward was playing in the woods when he accidentally used magic, which was when he finally believed his father about all the stories he told him and rushed to tell his parents of what happened. After that, he became more interested in the world of magic, constantly asking his father to tell him stories and it soon became something they bonded over, until he was 11-years-old and received the letter from Hogwarts.

On his eleventh birthday, he was sitting in front of the fire listening to his father tell a tale about his time at Hogwarts when a letter came through the door. He rushed to see what it was, expecting that his own letter would be coming now that he was right age, unable to hide his grin when he saw that it was addressed to him.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
His first instance of magic happened when he was eight, it was just like any other day for him, Edward was having fun in the woods behind his home in York as he had done a hundred times before, playing a knight of the realm as faced off against evil demons with his wooden stick, climbing over fallen logs with no concern for safety.

A branch snapped loose from one of the trees he bumped against, which he then flinched, closing his eyes and letting out a loud scream as he threw up his arms, though nothing happened. When he opened his eyes again, he noticed the branch hover in the air and drop gently beside him.

Calder is from a tight-knit and affectionate family. His family includes his father, mother, and maternal grandparents, all of whom have always loved him very much. They are just normal Muggles, with no previous exposure to the wizarding world—except for his mother, who is an avid fan of magical books and movies. She is a great admirer of the magical world and frequently comments upon her appreciation of Hogwarts, even though she never pictured her son inheriting a life in such a realm of magic.
Calder has developed in such an atmosphere of encouragement and gentle interest in magic, even though his family had never anticipated its inclusion in their actual lives. He can speak both Hindi and English fluently, even better than his family.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Calder's initial experience with magic was both remarkable and disorganized. One afternoon, involuntarily, while swishing a toy car around, he accidentally made a teacup levitate almost two feet above the table. The fragile object hung in mid-air as if attached to invisible strings, as Calder stood by, his mind reeling in shock at what he had inadvertently created. For an instant, it was almost fantastical, something from the tales his mother loved. Alas, the magic of the moment was short-lived. His father entered the room, was shocked at the sight, and in his fright, slapped Calder hard to bring him around. The violent movement disrupted Calder's focus, and the teacup fell to the floor, shattering into innumerable tiny fragments. What had potentially been a moment of pride and (accidental) enchantment became, instead, an bewildering combination of fright, shock, and remorse—but it certainly signaled the start of Calder's path into the world of magic.

Character Special Race/Talent: Part-veela (¾ veela) 1328/500 words
Reducio
Fireworks exploded at the arrival of Helen Aletheia Doukas during the first hour of 1999. A child was born, both human and siren blood running in her veins. The newborn did not know her fate, not just yet. Her mother and father did not yet know what cruelty they were capable of either. For now, Helen remained safe, loved, and a mystery. Born in Greece, the land of mythology and the roots of many veela families, Helen was raised with the morals of the Greek Myths laced into her upbringing and the importance and dignity that her veela lineage gave her. She was to treat it as such. As the daughter of a full veela — her mother — and having a part-veela (½) for a father, Helen herself had ¾ veela blood in her veins and she inherited many of their veela traits. She had seen her mother become a feral bird-like creature, subjectively her purest essence. As for her father, he was no more modern in his ways than she was- the percentage of veela blood in his family tree did not change that. And so, Helen was raised as such, and at that age, as strong minded as she may have been, every influence she had told her that being a veela was her path toward success. How so, she never questioned.

The fireworks on New Year's Day had been for her.

Helen had been raised with the strong belief of veelas being superior to mere mortals engraved in her mind. Her elders had made sure of that, and they prevented any outside influences to teach her differently. Living in Greece on the Doukas estate from the very beginning, during the first years of her life she was taught the basic knowledge that a child of her age was should've had. However, she wasn't merely taught how to do math. Everything she learned was embedded in the context of Greek Mythology and its importance, and the higher rank that she allegedly had due to her blood status — not pureblood vs muggleborn but rather veela vs human mortal — and money. Lineage was power, they said, and expressed it by telling her tales of Helen of Troy, Heracles, Hephaestus...

The Doukas families, and most other families of that region, had no connection to magic. They were muggles, as one could choose to call them, and had no idea that the Wizarding World existed. Any trace of magic was nothing but impurity of the essence of one's soul if one asked them, a disgrace to the family legacy. Precisely the same as the difference in status between squibs and purebloods, but exactly the other way around. They did not believe in the art of witchcraft, why would they? There was no reason for them to, and therefore, when Helen showed her first signs of magic, their vulture-like eyes saw and narrowed immediately. There was nothing to be done, their daughter couldn't possibly remain part of their family if she was an impure mistake. Off they sent her, with a nannie to take care of her, to grow up away from their estate in Greece. As of now, she was nothing more than a faulty machine, irreparable and undesirable.

As she grew older, her first signs of her veela nature started showing. Her unnatural beauty seemed to increase the more she aged, but she always had a natural young grace about her, the same sort of vibe that comes across when an adult says they're about ten years younger than the age you would've guessed they were, in a good way. It took a while for Helen to become fully aware of the difference in heritage between her and her peers. At times, she managed to consciously harness those traits, charismatically catching people off guard when asking them for little things such as a piece of their candy. Her looks were her success, at the time. She didn't see this as wrong, it was merely something she could do, so why not do it? Taking advantage of her own prowess was not necessarily a bad thing, she reasoned.

Her peers thought it differently, however. They noticed that strange charm that she brought along with her, and it gave them a chill in their bones; they did not fully understand where she came from and why she was so undeniably pretty, but although they stared at her in awe, the idea of her receiving anything she wanted scared them, whether they were conscious of those fears or not. Then, eleven years and eleven fireworks in her name later, a letter came. It bore the Hogwarts crest on the wax sealing, and before she knew it, the part-veela had packed her bags, boarded the scarlet steam engine at King's Cross and arrived at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The feeling of unease amongst her peers remained, along with the fascination of her blood status. "A veela? Oh, wow! Just... don't try and control me with your weird powers or whatever, okay?", was something along the lines of what Helen heard quite often. It didn't exactly bother her, but it made her frown. Her personality at the time was also too vain for her own good. All in all, although her veela traits increased, from being very persuasive to obtaining a veela's well-known scream to becoming more charming than ever... her friendships did not last.

Another factor had come into play as well.
Her parents had chosen a more destructive role in her life than they already had, and then her heart split in two [ read backstory for more elaboration! ]. What could be worse? It got worse, though. From her fourth year, Helen was transferred to Durmstrang, a school known for the dark arts that it taught. She knew no one. No friends, nobody to give her a shoulder to lean on during the difficulties that she needed to endure. That made her more temperamental (reference to the 7th year ability), but more independent as well. No more people who stared at her, because she did not tell them who she was, but no more people to judge her either. Helen learned to take care of herself without fake friendships to mislead her. Finally, she could breathe, as she graduated and took a step away from her teenage drama. And that was how her veela side shaped her, brought her down and picked her back up, over and over again.

Helen's appearance had always been important to her, from the very beginning. She didn't use make up often, as she believed in her purest (or impurest) essence not being covered up. She was enough already. Those morals stayed with her throughout her whole life, which also ensured that she never gave up her importance for how she looked and presented herself to others, but the amount of that importance did diminish. For after all, it is one's actions that count. And speaking of actions, although Helen's abilities gave her a few advantages and disadvantages, which she used and stumbled upon during her schooling, sometimes not so much for her own good, even that tipped on Themis' scale, just like her self-consciousness did.

The siren had oh so many stories to tell. These stories all remained bottled inside her, though, and never actually came to the light. And so Helen decided to take the initiative to write them down, and teach herself to do so from a narrator perspective. No opinions, just facts, the opinions forming themselves as the ink clotted the parchment. Just as she was beginning to do so, the position of librarian at Hogwarts opened up. At first, Helen was hesitant. Would returning to those walls bring back rumors from the past? Her status there was very different from that in her previous home from so long ago, in Greece. But maybe she didn't want that status.

Now, Helen Aletheia Doukas only wanted the truth.

Character Backstory: 1328/220 words
Reducio
Once upon a time, a siren rose from the abyss of the Greek sea. She masked herself as a human girl, raised by hybrids of siren and man, and learned to live as such. Deep down, though, Helen Aletheia Doukas knew she was different. She did not accept her human-like mould, but didn’t know better either. Her blood may have been that of a part-veela, but she was a siren at heart- always craving and never satisfied.

Helen’s elders taught her the Greek myths, the only good thing about them. She knew she was more special, you see. After her first instance of magic, Helen was left in England with a “nannie” to raise her, as she was thought to be impure. Although that was nonsense, it shaped her in a way no one had predicted. Her craving to be wanted became stronger, and theories formed in her mind to quell the pain, voices telling her that she was better than any of them, that they simply didn’t understand beauty, that she was not only impure but of a much better race. The tales from Greek mythology had remained stuck in her head, and she thought that if she could be like the heroes in the myths that they told, if she could be like each character, they would give her rights back again. That was the beginning of her reckless streak for justice.

Over time though, Helen realized that they would never learn, that she could not persuade them to believe something that they weren’t worth believing. And so she thought that if she could make everyone else adore her, love her, be jealous of her and be her friend, her family wouldn’t matter. Either way, she was the prettiest in the land. It would be easy, no?

The more she grew older, the more obsessive Helen became- because she didn’t always get what she wanted, and didn’t understand why. Her “nannie” did not want her, and when she went to Hogwarts in 2008, she never saw her again. Her elders chose to take her in again, believing that they could use the magic she was learning along with the rumors they heard about her persona. They masked it as saying that they decided that they were wrong about her and were "very sorry". In reality, she was actually meant to be used as a tool, a weapon, nothing more. The magic in her blood could be useful, they reasoned, as she could use it against their rival family. As the Doukas family was well-known, they had enemies, and why not let their impure descendant do the dirty work? After all, their ill-intentions could be masked with their pretty smiles and veela appearance.

They resorted to taking Helen in for the following two summers as well. Her parents then sent her to Durmstrang Institute after her third year at Hogwarts had ended, taking her in during each summer for the rest of her schooling. Meanwhile, the residents of the Doukas estate effortlessly tried to brainwash Helen. Their reputation was on tier number one, but with their rivals in the game, the 1st place would always be shared. Therefore, they told her countless stories of the “other” side, the evil that was spreading in the world and that she had the potential of being the one to drive it all away, like the Greek heroes she looked up to. Behind the scenes, their intentions were far less innocent than those pretty words made them seem. What they didn’t know, though, is that the following year Helen met the part-veela son of that family. They spent time together without their families realizing it, and fell in love during the summer of 2013 at the age of 16.

After Helen went back to Durmstrang, the two did write to each other. They weren’t technically boyfriend-girlfriend or anything, but they both liked the other, and being both veelas they understood each other’s veela-esque quirks.

Helen remained a weapon. But now, she had become her own weapon, and would not be used against those she loved, but those who had not valued her and had tried to manipulate her. The part-veela had grown, and her mind had grown out of the silly lies that she was told by her elders. Small acts, big consequences. None devastating, but each ruining her bloodline’s reputation and power one by one, until they were mere mortals stripped of their masks, revealing the evil, twisted figures that lay underneath.

But that Romeo and Juliet like tale didn’t end like it could’ve. No happy ending, for Helen’s Romeo, or in this case maybe more of a Paris (ref for those who understand - from the Greek myth of Helen and Paris), broke away from her after almost a year.

First came the tears, the broken heart, the rage. Those were her siren instincts, and those of not receiving what she thought she deserved. The fear of not being enough for the one person who had really valued her. Because when one knows what love and adoration really feels like, they cannot let it go. Nobody can, not at the very beginning. Not if they were as invested in it as Helen was.

But then, slowly but surely, understanding dawned upon her. She read books, she watched documentaries and movies, and it gave her a different perspective. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out. And maybe, maybe she needed to change. Maybe she didn’t need love. Maybe it was okay to not be loved. To be independent and not dependent on how much people like you, on fragile friendships. Cherishing it while it lasts, but not being desperate of having it. After graduating from Durmstrang Institute, Helen rented an apartment for a year in Finland's capital, Helsinki, and learned to take care of herself and slowly breathe again, step by step. During her time there, Helen had been on her own and took care of herself just fine without others to rely on. And that was when she realized, she lived just fine on her own.

And maybe, maybe being kind was the key to the lock she had always sought to pry open. The lock to people’s hearts, to make real friends. The ones that really care about you, the ones that last.

With these new realizations and a change of tides, once graduated Helen set off to travel and expose herself to the world around her. There was so much more to it than simply teenage drama, she learned. Being loved wasn’t important to her, but she was because she did her best to be a good person. And one of the things that she never stopped doing, was reading.

But Helen’s life was unstable. She had money from her elders, which she had rightfully taken, but not enough to live her whole life without a paycheck. After all, the young woman wanted to do something with her life. Searching for jobs, interview after interview gone wrong, she wanted to give up. Maybe her fate was not to have a job, but to drown in the abyss of having done nothing in her whole life, and then dying, without ever having really lived.

But then she found a snippet in the Daily Prophet, one of the newspapers she liked to keep up with, with a job offer for the Librarian position at Hogwarts. Books had stayed with her since the very beginning. They were her ties to all she was certain of, her beliefs and her doubts. One more try would be worth it. At least for this, she had something to go on.

An owl, as white as snow, a letter for a now grounded and kind young woman. Her name? Helen. Its contents? A new beginning, an escape from the abyss that could’ve awaited her, a stable life at last.

As of November 4th 2025, Helen Aletheia Doukas is now the librarian at Hogwarts.

Helen was not the perfect daughter, nor was she the perfect friend- but not everything was her fault, as much as people blamed her for it. At the age of eight, the little girl was running playfully through the Granary Square Fountains in the English city of London. A few girls she was friends with had come along, and although the trio didn't live in London themselves, their families had organized a trip together to the UK. It had been fun, up to that point- that day was different though. Her friends had formed a clique, for some reason, and Helen was not in it. Why? They were losers, she was not, the young girl assumed after the incident.

The two other girls were merely watching on the sidelines as Helen let her whimsy show and danced through the fountains, playing a game of laser water-spout tag with herself, one could say. Looking back at her "friends", she saw them hesitate, and pulled them into the water world before they could show any sign of resistance. One screamed, a high-pitched, dreadful noise. The other gasped and pulled away. "What the Hell do you think you're doing, Helen?!" "That's so annoying. Stop being such a girlboss weirdo. You're not cool, you know." "Oh, come on. So much drama for such a small amount of water." [ eyeroll from Helen ] "What do you mean, drama? You're the drama queen here. You always look at yourself in the mirror before we go out, but you're literally ugly." "Yeah, seriously." Jealousy? Probably. As a part-veela, Helen was prettier than both of them. But insults are insults, and the Siren did not take that one well.

"ENOUGH!" Anger, the pain of betrayal, tears that she desperately tried to blink away- Helen was both upset and overwhelmed with confusion and the pain of bonds severed. The water that had been showering over them with a constant rhythm stopped coming out of the holes in the ground. Silence, not a sound to be heard. It was as if the world was holding its breath*. One second. Two seconds. Three and then four. On exactly the fifth second, the water fountains sprang back to life. Their parents both saw and heard, making the connection quickly- but as they were not wizards or witches themselves, their reaction was different. They thought her to be impure [ read veela application and/or backstory for further elaboration ] . Helen, however, only processed it after she managed to cool herself down (possibly pun-intended), and didn't think much of it. She always knew she was different than her peers. Was this associated to her ancestry, to her blood, perhaps? No, but how was she to know?
*(it wasn't, though)

I'm sorry for the last-minuteness of this application, it should still be within the month that one has to apply for a special race, and I've never written any IC posts as Helen before either way. Pre-Education
From birth it seamed, Alan had his nose in a book. He felt like he'd 'seen' things. Only one of what was true magic, and not his imagination. But the one that stuck out like a sore thumb, was when he was on a trip with his family. Driving through a forest, Alan had been in the backseat. Looking out the window, and swore that he'd seen Bigfoot in the tree line. His parents were worried. Alan's imagination was a little to much for them. So they had always brushed him off, telling him that 'Bigfoot' was likely just a bear. And equally as cool. It likely was a bear, Alan wasn't sure anymore.
Early-Education
Like any normal 'muggle' student, Alan went to preschool. Where he primarily kept to himself, playing with dinosaur toys. Every now and again another kid would come and play with him. But for lack of better words they were 'scared' away, by Alan's knowledge of them. Bombarded with questions about there favorite dinosaurs, if they to thought they were all gone. Or if some stull were alive. And of course, the most important one, what pre-historic creature they would want as a pet.
As Alan reached elementary school, children became more cruel. They teased him, asking him questions just to get fuel to make fun of him. This never seamed to bother him though. He was just happy someone was interested in what he was interested in. Sure he was pushed around a little, but that was what boys his age did right? He saw them play football on the playground. And that involved quite a bit of tackling. So what was the harm. His teachers gave him concerned looks, And his parents asked if he was having a hard time at school. There wasn't anything. He did well in classes. It baffled Alan as to why he was pulled out to be homeschooled.
Homeschooling
His parents where highly paid in there fields. And had connections with experts. His mother being a business manger, and father being a lawyer. They were able to make sure Alan was taught things at his own speed, in a place he wouldn't be judged.
For a reason he didn't understand. His parents felt the need to gift Alan trips because of the homeschooling. He just enjoyed going to national parks.
Ilvermorny
Once it was revealed that Alan was really a wizard, and the teacher that had come and explain. His eyes had lit up, he'd been right after all. Everyone had called him crazy, or that he needed to grow up. But he was right. The poor professor had to deal with a bombard of questions from the young wizard.
His parents didn't want to send Alan, A) they were a little scared of magic. and B) they were worried he would be bullied once more. After some assurance, they allowed Alan to go.
As it turned out, they were right to be worried. Alan did get bullied by the non-muggle born students. The pure bloods, half bloods, wizard born, everyone who had known magic was real since birth. And not just an imagination like Alan had. He didn't realize this was bullying either. And still asked a thousand questions. He was a social outcast. Rambling on and on about how the wizard government was still hiding self casting wands. Alan only had one true friend, another outcast like himself.
Once he reached fourth year, Alan appeared to realize how alone he really was. All the bullies got bored of him eventually and had either matured or moved on to the new first years. So he started journaling, to get all the thoughts no one would listen to on paper. He's continued this well into his adult years.
Post Graduate
Once he graduated, he became a tracker, then some journalism, became a teacher for a little bit. And somehow, he was able to become headmaster. Why? How? No one is fully sure.
First Instance of Magic :
Reducio
Alan had been six, on one of the many trips he and his parents went on. Sitting in a field of flowers. Digging in the dirt trying to find a gnome. (convinced they lived underground). When he saw something. Not a gnome, but a beetle. He was so transfixed with the bug that a rainbow appeared to come from it while Alan held it in his hands. Disappearing almost as quick as it had appeared. Of course, he told his parents this, but they brushed it off as a trick of the light. And made him wash his hands. But Alan knew what he saw that day.

She looks beautiful and serious. But he laughs a lot, is innocent and friendly. She wears black and round glasses and has brown hair. It was inherited from my mother. The eyes are a rare green (jade color) and blue gradient, and it seems to be sucked in very beautifully. Coincidentally, her father's jade color and her mother's blue color are mixed together, and it looks like a beautiful sea. She is short and cute. Hair has a habit. That's attractive. She usually does it in half, but sometimes She does it in a ponytail or down.
Figure
Reducio
Unlike her serious appearance, she actually laughs a lot, is honest, and emotions appear immediately on her face. That's why the expression changes and it's cute. She is naughty and loves interesting and fun things. Thanks to that curiosity, magic is excellent. She has the courage to enjoy anything, and she challenges everything to live a fulfilling day.
Family structure, friends
Reducio
She has a purebred father, a muggle-born mother, a cat, a younger sister, and a younger brother. When she was little, she played and spent time with her younger sisters. The house is large in a single house. She friend didn't have a chance to meet other children, so she was with her brother and sister. I didn't have any friends before entering school, but because of my curious personality, I will make a lot of friends after entering Hogwarts.
The reason why magic was discovered
Reducio
Both of her parents were wizards, so she was always surrounded by magic. At age three, Alice, curious as she was, chased a paper airplane that magically flew through the sky. After the airplane flew out a second-story window, Alice, still chasing it, didn't realize there was no foothold and fell out of the window. However, she landed gently to the ground, as if enchanted. However, none of her family members had cast any spells on Alice. That was Alice's first experience with magic. After that, several other strange things happened. For example, when her parents were busy with the baby and couldn't watch her anymore, Alice became sulky and locked herself in a room. Her emotions were so strong that she enchanted a stuffed animal that moved on its own and became Alice's playmate. When her sister grew older and had a younger brother, Alice eagerly looked after the child, and when he laughed, small flowers flew around her in joy. And when Alice caught a bad cold and developed a fever, and was bedridden, the temperature in the room would automatically rise whenever Alice felt cold, to the point where she felt hot. Although she had no friends, she played to her heart's content with her siblings, was exposed to magic, and eagerly worked to help her parents and look after her siblings. Although she was a bit of a tomboy, her curious nature and willingness to try anything and everything came from being the eldest daughter and having lots of exposure to magic.

What my character is like

Reducio
My character loves to read and wrestle. He is empathetic, cunning, ambitious, he perseveres, and he loves. He likes to make people laugh, the center of attention.

Backstory

Reducio
He lived on a farm. His mom Brandy his dad Jamie, eldest brother James, Youngest brother Shepherd. Has two dogs Lola, she is a Short-Haired German Shepherd mixed with an Australian Shepherd. Toby is a Pit bull mixed with a Terrier. I have chickens, sheep, horses, cows, pigs, and donkeys. The other pets we have are snakes, bunnies, and spiders. He never had any friends. He was the smartest in all of his classes, he skipped two grades. The first friend he ever had was in the second grade, but even then it did not last long. Apparently he was only my friend because he was new, and did't know anybody. He was always the teachers pet, and loved to learn all he could. When he was at home he would usually hang out in his room alone. They never went into town anymore, only on rare occasions. Because they had a farm and hunted animals. Most people would think that this life was bad, but it was nice. It was just them, they occasionally got a couple visitors. It was, fun, everyday they always had something to do. They were never bored. They would get word when something bad, or good would happen in their town. His favorite job was hunting, he was the family hunter. He would always find a target, and he would always get his target.

First instance of magic

Reducio
The first time he ever did magic was when he was eight. He was at the edge of the school yard reading a book. Then Pete, a big brute walked over followed by his posse. Pete was the school bully. "What you doing, reading", Pete said. "Ya and what is it to you", I replied. "Well this is my school yard and I don't like nerds". Pete grabbed my book from my hands and threw it over the fence. "That was my book, I replied. Him and his posse laughed. He got up, but Pete pushed him back down. With a scowl he looked at Pete and his posse, and they all flew back. They looked up at me and ran away, with a strange look on their faces. When questioned by the teachers and principal, they said they could not recall what had happened. His mom took him out of school, so
he was home schooled until he was accepted into Hogwarts

The year? 2023. The world had finally begun to calm down from the pandemic a few years prior, and Alix's mum, Eleanor, was less overwhelmed than she could remember being in years. As a pharmacist, she'd been on the metaphorical front lines of the pandemic, and now she could just relax and do her job as she had before.

It was supposed to be a relaxing camping trip in the Welsh forests. It was a spot Marcus and Eleanor had been to dozens of times before without the kids, but this time they were bringing the whole family. Alex had just finished secondary school a few months prior, Rickie's football season didn't start again for a while, Elisabeth was home for summer holiday, Alix was finished with school for the summer, and the babies were old enough that they could handle being outdoors with the family. It should have been perfect, and at first, it was.

Then the unthinkable happened.

Alix, who had known for years that she would attend Hogwarts some day, had been pestering Elisabeth for the entire trip from home for stories of her year at Hogwarts. Alix had greedily soaked up every bit of information she could, from the color of the walls to the number of towers in the castle. Eventually, the pestering had become too much and Elisabeth snapped at Alix to leave her alone.

It wouldn't be fair to blame Elisabeth for what happened next. It certainly wasn't her fault, and Alix didn't blame her by any means. Alix, with hurt feelings, obeyed and left her older sister alone. She went walking around the woods surrounding their campsite while her parents set up the tent. Apparently, it was an enchanted tent. Bigger on the inside than it appeared on the outside. She could still hear her parents bickering about furniture placement even as she walked around.

When she found a small body of water, large for a creek yet small for a river, filled with smooth, pretty stones, Alix's curiosity couldn't be helped. She began reaching into the water for stones, searching for the prettiest one. As she did, she followed along the river. Before long, she could no longer hear her parents. Alix wasn't completely foolish, and she had some sense of survival instinct, so she turned back, following the river. She should have kept better track of time, but she was only nine.

As the sun set, and the moonlight fell across the forest like a thin blanket, Alix began to panic. She hadn't realized just how far she'd gone. She began to hear things every few feet, but she chalked it up to just being scared. Until, of course, the evidence of something being there was undeniable. A faint crushing of leaves could be explained away. A steady repetition of the sound that resembled footsteps couldn't.

Alix didn't look behind her. She just ran as fast as she could back up along the river. She didn't scream, because she had the terrible suspicion that that would only draw whatever was following to her faster. She ran and ran, and the footsteps picked up behind her. Then, her luck ran out.

One of the stones she'd rejected earlier, left on the ground by the river, was exactly where her foot landed. Her ankle twisted, sharp pain shooting up her leg, and she fell in the mud.

"Dad!" Alix screamed as loud as she could, and that was all she had time to say before she felt an even sharper pain in her left shoulder. She gasped and looked down to see a large, lupine creature biting into her arm. A wolf? No, the nose wasn't right for that. She could barely feel the pain, but the fear was very noticeable.

She screamed. It wasn't a word, a plea, or a desperate call for help. It was a primal sound of absolute terror. The sound a dying animal might make as a warning with one message: danger is near.

She felt her body lifting from the ground as the werewolf ragdolled her. She kicked and punched with her other hand, but a nine-year-old girl was no match for a werewolf. She knew that. She knew that no matter how desperate she was, she was about to die.

"Confringo!" a commanding voice echoed through the forest. Alix felt the pressure on her shoulder lessen as an almost blinding explosion hit the werewolf in the ribs, knocking it back and into a tree. It was clearly quite injured from the spell, evident by the way it favored its right leg.

Alix didn't care about any of that, though, because she was flying several feet through the air from the momentum of being tossed about by the werewolf and suddenly let go. Her father cast another spell, a levitation charm this time, it seemed, and she felt herself hovering above the ground for a short moment. It was similar to the first time she had done magic, from the sense of weightlessness to the sense of colliding with the ground and losing the air in her lungs.

The werewolf was growling at Alix, but she was all too aware of the pain from the bite, now. She couldn't even think about the fact that the beast was still there. She just wanted to stop hurting. And maybe it was because of the blood loss, not that she would know that, but her head was feeling very woozy and weak.

Another blasting curse struck the werewolf, this time in the chest, and it growled one last time before turning and fleeing with a limp. Alix felt her mum's arms picking her up in an instant, and she heard the older woman's gasp of surprise as she beheld the injury on Alix's now-bare shoulder. Alix didn't dare look down at it herself. The thought of it was too scary.

"You're going to be okay, little star," her mum said in her ear, running toward their campsite as fast as possible.

"...hurts," Alix said weakly, unaware that she was crying. All she was aware of was the sharp, stinging pain in her shoulder and the sensation that felt like her blood was on fire.

"I know it does," her dad said as they ran.

Alix was only vaguely aware of her siblings joining them. Her dad grabbed Mary and Mark, since they weren't even three yet, and carried one on each hip. Alex noticed the panic and began readying the car, while Rickie ran over to grab Alix from their mother.

"No. Take the twins," Alix's dad said to Rickie, offering the children to him. Confused, he took them. Then, he turned to Alix's mum. "Give her to me. I can apparate to St. Mungo's. Elisabeth knows how to get there. Drive her and the others to London. I'll meet you there."

And Alix was in her dad's arms. She didn't know how many times she threw up after experiencing apparition for the first time, but she didn't care, either. She wasn't really aware of much of anything right now. She floated in a facsimile of consciousness, aware of nothing but pain and agony.

That was the night Alix's life changed forever.

Character Backstory:

Reducio

Alix was born in a muggle hospital at her mum’s insistence. Her mum was a muggle pharmacist. Her dad was a potioneer. It was truly a match made in Heaven. While the kids attended school, Marcus traveled to Diagon Alley to work as a potioneer, brewing and selling potions in one of many apothecaries. Eleanor, on the other hand, spent her day running a muggle pharmacy and providing healing in her own way.

Magic wasn't performed in their home, for many reasons. One, because not all of the kids could do magic, and those who couldn't could be understandably jealous. That was a feeling Marcus and Eleanor preferred to avoid. Two, because Eleanor insisted on a more grounded muggle lifestyle at home, if only to teach even the magical kids the importance of being able to make do without their spells and potions. And, three, because avoiding magic at home in its entirety drastically reduced the risk of exposure to the muggle population of Glastonbury.

Alix was never lonely. She has several siblings. The eldest are her two older brothers - both Squibs - called Rickie and Alex. Despite being a muggle, Alex often pesters their father for wizarding lore and history, while Rickie's focus is mostly on sports.

Alix's older sister, Elisabeth, isn't a Squib. She is a proud member of Slytherin, enjoying her final fun year of Hogwarts, since next year she has to prepare for her O.W.Ls.

And, of course, who could forget the twins, Mary and Mark? Neither have shown any sign of magic, but they're only four. They never leave each others' side, and they possess a fondness for finishing each other's sentences to see the reactions of people around them.

Alix attended a very prestigious private school during her time before Hogwarts. Her mum insisted on it, since, to this day, she questions the education of Hogwarts students. Elisabeth is very brilliant, and both of her parents are proud of her, but her education of all things muggle is noticeably lacking. Eleanor thought to rectify that with the younger children by providing the best education she could before they potentially attended Hogwarts.

First Instance of Magic:

Reducio
Alix's first instance of magic was likely a common one amongst children.

The young firecracker, having not been attacked yet, had tried to do magic for her whole young life. Her dad kept his spare wand just out of reach for the five-year-old Alix - high atop a cupboard in the kitchen. He didn't always keep it there, but younger Alix kept 'borrowing' it to try to do magic herself. It never worked, of course, but it was risky enough that he had to keep it out of her reach.

One day, Alix found out where it was. In what the small child thought was a stroke of genius, Alix climbed atop the kitchen counter. Then atop the refrigerator. Then atop the cupboard. She grabbed the wand, but without both hands to keep her balance, she fell from the cupboard. The wand fell from her hand, clattering on the kitchen floor long before Alix. As she fell, a sense of weightlessness overcame her. When she looked down, she was hovering inches from the floor.

Then she dropped the rest of the way. Between the tiny drop and her own tears, five-year-old Alix forgot all about her accidental little show of magic. Her mum put two and two together when she found the crying child, remarkably uninjured considering the height of the fall. Mum and dad had a long talk that night, and the family invested in a safe for the spare wand.

-In your backstory you say Alix's mother is a muggle pharmacist, as per our site's lore magic and muggle tech do not mix so her parents would have to pick to either live as wizards or muggles, not a mix of both. Please edit her backstory to show which side she lives on.

FIOM
First Instance of Magic: He accidentally made the TV explode when he was about 6 because he found out that they had canceled his favorite program, and that upset him greatly

Backstory
Reducio
Backstory: He was born in Birmingham Alabama on the 24th of June to Edward and Flora lively in a muggle hospital. Flora only learned after having him that Edward was a wizard but she wasn't all that upset about it. When Lotus was five him and his parents had packed up and moved to Bristol, England to live with Edward's parents who themselves had previously gone to Hogwarts because they wanted what was best for Lotus. Lotus didn't really know how to feel about moving that far from the heat of Alabama that he was used too to living in a place where he really would get to experience a proper snow in the winter. As for living with his grandparents he got into all sorts of stuff such as helping his grandfather out in the family barn with horses, learning how to ride a horse along with how to properly de gnome a yard and with his grandmother he'd learn to cook and bake and she would teach him about the stars and she would tell stories about when she was a kid at Hogwarts herself she would also tell him stories about when Edward was a kid. The quiet mornings, the cool air, and the steady presence of his grandparents and dad slowly made the house feel like home even though he was many many miles away from where his life started, yet he still missed the warmth Alabama had brought him of course he did why wouldn't he, he was just a kid after all. Slowly, the unfamiliar began to feel less frightening, and though he still missed Alabama deeply, he started to realize that this new place could become home in its own quiet, comforting way.

Special Talent
Reducio
Not very long after his FIOM when ever he was feeling any sort of emotion his hair would take on the color that was normally associated with the emotions he was feeling. Happiness brought light, warm shades, anger flared into sharp reds, fear bled into uneasy greens, and sadness settled into heavy blues. Most days, though, his emotions weren’t clear or simple. They overlapped, collided, and tangled together, and as a result his hair often became a muddy mix of colors, swirling together in ways that made it impossible to tell where one feeling ended and another began. So of course there were times when his hair was a muddy of colors. However there were times where other muggles would look at him weird because they were wondering what parent would willingly let their kid of seven years "dye" their hair a sickly green or a very very bright blue. Few muggles had even made comments out loud, shaking their heads or muttering about neglect or bad influences. He learned quickly to keep his head down and stay close to his mom’s side, pretending not to notice the looks, even when they made his stomach twist and his hair shift into nervous yellows. He really didn't like how people looked at him. He tried hats and hoodies, pulling them low whenever he could. To him being stared at wasn't something he liked he rather be ignored because being ignored meant that people wouldn't look and stare.
He was close with his mom. His mom never treated the colors like something shameful. She told him they were proof that he had feelings, and that he felt deeply, and that feelings were never a bad thing, even when it hurt a lot.
As he got older, he'd learn to control the colors of his hair he would also learn this talent was called Metamorphomagus and that it was passed down to him from his great grandmother who had once been great entertainment to Edward Lotus's dad when he was a kid. Control didn’t come all at once or easily. Some days he only managed to dull the colors, only for them to burst through the moment he lost focus. Other days he failed entirely, leaving him frustrated and ashamed. He at times really did not like his talent.
When he was 8, his mom had passed away due to health complications, and from then on, he'd have some bits or a whole head of purple hair as that was his mom's favorite color. He never tried to hide the purple like he did with the muddy of colors because he too likes purple it was something to carry. The purple wasn’t loud like the others. It didn’t flare or fade quickly. It lingered, steady and quiet, appearing when memories of her surfaced or when the absence felt too heavy to ignore. A reminder that love, once felt, never truly disappears—no matter how much the colors change.
Over time, he came to see his hair not as a burden or a sign of difference, but as a reflection of himself—his emotions, his memories, and the people he loved. Each color, whether bright or muted, told a story, and the purple, in particular, became a quiet comfort. It reminded him that even in loss, some part of those we care about stays with us, living on in the smallest, most unexpected ways. His hair, in all its colors, was a part of him—and a part of his story that he could carry proudly from then onwards.

Character Special Race/Talent: Part goblin
Reducio
On a sunny special day, easter friday, happened the marriage of half goblin Gregory Edwards to squib Alicia Thompson. Nothing could possibly go wrong in this relationship, both of them thought, absoloutely nothing. Little did they both know that they would be separated on 8th september in the year 2013, the day Della Edwards came into being, when after the girl's birth, for some unknown reason, Gregory walked out of the house with his parents, never to return.

An extaordinarily beautiful yet strange girl, Della grew up in the muggle world, having no idea of the existence of the magical world, her goblin ancestry, or her being a witch. Her mother kept that fact well hidden from her and her maternal grandmother, the only magical person in the household, never used magic in front of her. Della had never met her father or her part goblin grandfather or even her pureblood witch paternal grandma. She really felt the absence of a father in her life and though she got ticked off for it regularly, she never stopped asking where her father was. The answer she always got from her mum was "I don't know, and don't ask questions about him"

Though she was beautiful, there were a few strange things about Della's appearance that she didn't know where they came from, and certainly didn't come from her mum's side of the family. Conclusion: It was from her dad's side of the family but she couldn't confirm that as she had never seen them, or it was through that thing she had learnt in muggle science called 'natural selection'. Still, these strange things about her appearance weren't that noticible. Her ears were pointier than was normal, but few people noticed it for her golden brown hair generally covered it. Her fingers were longer than was usual, but that wasn't a problem at all, she was more dextrous because of it. The thing that was the worst of the strange things about her was her height: she was way too short! She was always the shortest in her class, shortest in her grade, and almost the shortest in the whole community she belonged to in Glasgow. This was horrible, people like to stand tall, not feel short, even less, be short. This got her a fair bit of bullying, but her looks thankfully didn't permit too much.

Della found out about her goblin ancestry from her mother and grandma only when she found out she was a witch and was accepted to Hogwarts. She was livid. This could have been told to her so long ago, she couldn't believe her own family had kept this from her for eleven years!
Still, her family would give her minimum info. They told her that she was an eight goblin, with her great grandfather on her dad's side being a goblin, and that she would get more income than the rest of the people at Hogwarts. This was too much to take in. Della rushed to her room, locked the door, feeling more apprehensive about entering the wizarding world now knowing that she wasn't ever pure human. Life was going to be horrible for sure.

History/Background Story: Della grew up with her mother, sister and grandparents. Her father had divorced them and might have been a wizard, no one would tell her, but she had found a very old wand in her house basement full of old hogwarts things with her fathers name on it when she was six that didn't belong to her grandma and had her father's name on the back, and Della concluded she was the daughter of a wizard. Her grandmother confirmed this, saying this was her father's old school wand and now used a new one he had bought after graduation from Hogwarts, but would tell her no more. She was a witch though, but Della's mother was a squib and so was her grandfather. She grew up knowing of the existence of the wizarding world but becoming adept at all things muggle as well.
She especially enjoyed going on nature walks with her mum but she was so busy that this didn't happen often. She was sent to a muggle school because there was a good chance she would turn out to be all muggle, like her grandfather and mum. She was always one of the oldest in her grade, and resented the fact that she was always kept a year behind and felt she was certainly smart enough to be in the year above. Unfortunately, no one messed with the school system so there was nothing she could do. When she found out she was accepted into hogwarts, she was so happy! Her mother wished her good luck in the wizarding world and her sister promised to write to her every day.
First instance of magic: Della's first instance of magic happened when she was six. When she was helping out in her house with her mother, in the kitchen, a slight explosion in the frying pan happened, with large drops of burning oil flying everywhere. Scared, Della backed away, even though she knew that wherever she moved, oil would fall on her. Surprisingly, no oil fell on her, and it all moved away as if she were a magnet repelling the oil. Her mother told her it would have been her first instance of magic and she was thrilled.

Background:

Laasya was born on 23rd May, 2014 to muggles in a hospital in East London. Her father worked in the same hospital where Laasya was born as a cardiologist while her mother was a secondary school science teacher. Her parents had immigrated from India a year ago. They lived in a rented 2 bedroom flat which was enough for 3 people. Laasya had always wanted a sibling but her parents said it would cost too much money. Her parents were busy at work, as a result, until she started school, she was left at home with only the elderly neighbor, who always watched TV, to watch over her. As a result, she was a very quiet person. The lady had a granddaughter, named Amber and the two girls became best friends. When Laasya was of school going age, at first she was excited because she taught Amber would be in the same school as her. But when she realized that Amber was going to a different school, her excitement crumbled. She hated going to school prior to Hogwarts because she was always lonely and ignored by the kids. Some would even bully her by taunting her, calling her an undesirable loner. Home however was heaven for Laasya as it was the place she would receive love and affection from her parents. Her mother was a Science teacher, as a result she was concerned about health and did not allow Laasya to eat sweets, unless she got them from other kids or if it was her birthday, which in that case her father would get Laasya a birthday cake and donuts, which were some of Laasya’s favorites. Because of the sugar limit, Laasya rarely gets pimples even in Hogwarts were sweets always find their way into her dorm.

FIOM:

One day during recess, when Laasya was 7 years old, she was reading a story book, since there were no rules against it. After a minute or so, the school bully, a fourth-grader walked up to Laasya and snatched the book from her hands “Aww! Is lonely Laasya going to cry now? Well then, come get it!” The bully sneered before trying to throw it to the football court. But before she did that, a now furious Laasya snatched the book back and glared at the bully she talked back, with some much energy for a 7 year old. At that time a stray cat was passing by and due to Laasya’s anger, magic came out of her mouth and it fell on the cat, causing it to change colours. Everyone was amazed at this, some students thought that Laasya had done it, but the others believed that magic did not exist and thus denied it. Her parents were shocked at first, then they also eventually forgot about it until Laasya got her Hogwarts letter.
