The Thrills of Steam Locomotives
Lydia's face brightened when Freya asked her about her father's bookshop. She always had a close relationship with both of her parents, but with her father there was almost a secret connection between them. Even though she has always been quite adventurous, since Lydia was little she had spend ages into her dad's bookshop, reading about fairytales and adventures, pirates and dragons, and even crime stories once she got older. She would spend the afternoons she didn't have any extracurricular activities after there, surrounded by books and the smell of old dusty paper.
Lydia got taken back to reality when Freya started talking and she concentrated on her. She was glad she didn't overwhelm her, and she was really curious to know where the girl would have liked to be sorted in, but they were interrupted by a girl with a really cool pink t-shirt.
"Of course! Please come in! Nice shirt by the way," she greeted the girl, her usual big smile spread over her lips. She was going to introduce herself to her, when a boy peeked his head inside their compartment.
"Hi! sure, come sit with us! I'm Lydia, Lydia Cooper," she told them as she rearranged her legs over the seat, since they were starting to fall asleep.
After everyone introduced themselves, Lydia turned back to Freya and smiled when she said she would have liked to see in either Gryffindor or Slytherin. "I think you would be great in any house Freya. I think I'd be a terrible Gryffindor, I might be curious, but I'm more chill and not too impulsive," she admitted with a blush on her cheeks.
When the compartment door opened again, and another girl asked them if she could join them, Lydia exchanged a look with Freya and then nodded, giving the new girl a warm smile. "Of course!" she said and then looked around the compartment. It was starting to get a little crowded, but she didn't mind too much, she really liked making new friends.
"I'm curious, is any of you a pureblood or a half-blood? Freya and I are muggleborn, and yeah, what do you guys think of all of this? Of the train and Hogwarts and the incredibly cool barrier at the train station to keep away the muggles?" Lydia asked, her voice going a mile a minute. She was getting overexcited again, but she couldn't help it. When her curiosity took over, she couldn't stop herself from asking questions.
"Everything beautiful is ruined eventually."
