She felt bad for the boy, did they look that intimidating? “Ah, I think it's alright, we're just...chatting, I guess, anyways.”

Alina suddenly remembered why she had come to the library, to get needed books. That's what she was really supposed to be doing here, after all, not making friends. She had time for that later but in the meantime she had to catch up on Transfiguration.

Gesturing to her book, Alina looked at everywhere—boy, did a crowd form—and said, “Well, I have to be off—got some studying to catch up on, yeah!” She nodded and brushed past them, going off into some other part of the library.

It wasn't hard to find the Transfiguration section; you just had to look for the shelves with the least amount of dust. Students probably scoured the books for any useful content to make the subject more bearable. Alina couldn't blame them—the subject was incredibly complex! But soon enough she found two books that seemed to be on her level of understanding and proceeded to a table.

She opened them, reading to take notes, when she realized that she didn't actually have any writing utensils with her, parchment not quill. Alina sighed and got back up, gathering her now there books. She checked them out from the Librarian and then made her way out of the room. Her mind wandered back to the girls and the boy who'd just came along; they all seemed very interesting but she figured she could always meet them some other time.
Alina Fridenothas left the thread.

Katrina watched the girl take her leave. She debated leaving herself, but voted not to so she could meet the other girl. She knew what it was like to forget her birthday. She hadn't forgotten her own, just merely spent the day (mostly) alone.

"Sometimes, I just feel so caught up in everything going on too. We should celebrate!" Katrina smiled and wondered what they could do. Maybe they could convince a few house elves to bake a cake. Or possibly, she could find something to give-- Elena. Yes, her name was Elena.

Katrina yawned and covered her mouth. Sleep had not been her friend recently. Lack of sleep was causing her quite the load of trouble. She blinked her eyes a few times before shaking herself off. She couldn't imagine forgetting her birthday.

"I'm sure we could find the stuff to make a cake somewhere," the more Katrina thought about it, the more absurd it sounded. There wasn't public access to the kitchen. Besides, it wasn't likely that a house elf would provide random children with desserts. The ingredients they would need would only be found in the kitchen. And Katrina hadn't found a kitchen since they arrived.

She was delusional. Instead of saying anything more, she was just quiet and kept to herself. Perhaps someone else would have a better idea.

"Nice," Thora grinned as Elena hopped down from the bookshelf with the stealth of a ninja. How did she not break her leg or something? At least she wasn't hurt--last time they had ended up with the Hospital Wing together with some of the other Quidditch players had not been the most enjoyable time, despite having certainly gained a friend.

"I mean, I haven't seen kitchens here. Have you?" Thora asked with a hopeful smile. Certainly a cake or something of the sort would be nice. She didn't at all mean to make fun of Katrina's ideas--and her positive demeanor suggested the same--but in all honesty, she was not at all sure how they were going to pull this off. If there wasn't a kitchen, there was probably a reason. "So, I mean, I doubt we could..." the girl trailed off.

Besides, time was time. They couldn't get more of it, but could only take advantage of what they had. And it being rather late in the afternoon, there wasn't much time left in the day. What were the girls thinking? It wasn't like they could even get a cake if they wanted to. Thora didn't want to get in trouble either. She'd had a clean record so far and didn't intend to ruin it with so much as a scratch, especially if it wasn't life-risking.

So, some sort of celebration with food was out of the question. "I've got some sweets in my dorm if you guys want," Thora brightened, imagining the sherbet lemons and chocolate frogs that she had stashed away in her trunk. Being tiny and sneaky was fun--Thora could sneak away to Hogsmeade everyone once in a while without a hitch. Sure, she looked quite underage, but why was that a problem when you could go unseen? There were so many things that they could do at Hogwarts--and especially it not being a school day--but it was really up to Elena. It was her birthday.

"Elena, what do you want to do? I mean, it's your birthday. We could go play Quidditch," Thora suggested with a grin. It was quite obviously one of the two snek's similar interests, seeing that both were on the house team. Besides, she had been meaning to ask the blue-haired girl for a few pointers anyways. After all, Elena was one of her captains.

Elena grinned at Thora, "Thanks."

"Alrighty, see you Alina." Elena did a mock salute, "Happy studying."

Slightly amused, Elena waited for Katrina and Thora to finish their own small conversation before stating her own case, "I've been to the kitchens before, only note would be that I do believe since it's... four pm, the elves are using that to prepare the early stages of the dinner feast around this time. So as happy as they would be to help out, interrupting that would be rude y'know."

"Quidditch, I'd like that. I would suggest we go to Hogsmeade and hang out in the tea shop, but I suppose I should have no idea about any shops in Hogsmeade and most definitely should never have snuck into Hogsmeade for the sake of obtaining tea and sweets." Elena realised that she couldn't figure out which place she was meant to go, an interesting sensation for a seer. She was used to ignoring it from time to time, unless it was loud, like screaming in her head, if it was a nudge, a pull, then nothing really rested upon it, "Also, I'm not going to ask anyone to break the rules on my behalf, I don't see the point in that."

Katrina smiled and realized that the two girls knew each other. She felt like smacking her head for not realizing. The Gryffindor pet her cat which she realized she was still holding. The more they talked, the more Katrina realized that it might be better for them to continue without her. It was nice they weren't rude or anything, but it might be nice for them to continue on their own.

She took a step to the side and her limp returned. It was a shooting pain up her leg. A small part of her debated going to the hospital wing. But her internal discussion ended on the note that it should go away in the next few days anyway.

"I think I ought to go," Katrina paused before adding, "You two enjoy yourselves,"

She slowly walked away and set Boomerang down beside her. He trotted at her side like an obedient puppy. She gave a small smile before waving goodbye at the two girls.

Though as soon as she turned the corner she stopped and looked at her ankle. It was beginning to hurt a lot more now and tears were almost coming to her eyes. It was swollen and red now. She slowly limped down the hall and up to the Hospital Wing, it was time for someone to check on it.

Sneaking into Hogsmeade right then and there. Now, that was an idea. Thora was a huge stickler for rules and breaking them was completely off her radar. Although she'd pulled it off once--and then felt guilty about it for a good number of days--again was a different story. Unless it was for someone. While not very close, Thora rather liked Elena. And if they were going to make their way to Honeydukes to make up for the blue-haired girl's birthday, she was up for it, while her palms were already starting to sweat.

But Thora didn't let herself get too far. Elena was right, and the little scaredy-cat was almost ashamedly relieved. Her cautiousness and sometimes irrational paranoia wasn't exactly a bad thing, as it could save her life. It wasn't healthy to be reckless, although Thora had found that being a risk-taker was a trait to admire. It was a trait that she herself completely lacked--and always had--but wanted to improve on, though it evidently wasn't working. Still, balance was important.

So Quidditch it was. "Sure, we can arrange a practice or something just for fun later. Flying's always, always, great," Thora suggested with a smile. In all honesty, she probably should get back to her work. It wouldn't be hard to talk with Elena--they would probably see each other later that evening, being in the same dorm and all. "Or, I mean, we could go now."

But apparently fate--no, Katrina--had decided for them. With a smile and a wave, the Gryffindor left, cat at her side. "Bye, and you might want to get to the Hospital Wing," Thora called after the girl, noticing her limp. The other girls having left in a matter of moments, she'd hardly realized it was just her and Elena now. "So, do you want to go practice now?" Thora asked brightly, smiling at her captain. As long as it was light and before curfew, the pitch was theirs for the taking.
