Adlai turns her head one more time to give a friendly wave at the witch behind the counter before wandering off, school robes in hand. She didn’t know she had said anything out loud, all she knew is that she had half a list to complete and non of that magical money could be found in her purse. She’d have to come back another day then, hopefully by that time more of that money would have appeared. If not she didn’t know what she’d do.

Adlai found herself back at where she started, her parents were waiting on the other side of wall in a dark, wet alley that her mother had been complaining about the smell of earlier. Finally figuring out how to get to the other side Adlai was reunited with her parents. Her father seemed ecstatic about what she had been able to purchase while her mother only seemed interested in her school robes. As a tailor, her mother wanted to “examine” them, to make sure that the thread wouldn’t unravel.

With a grin Adlai left with her parents and thought back on Roman, the grumpy old young man. She rather liked him even though he seemed not be so friendly with her. Nonetheless she hoped she’d meet him again and maybe they’d become friends...at some point.
