Making friends is not in his ‘what I need to survive’ list, and will never be unless someone tampers with it. Roman doesn’t like people and they don’t seem to like him back, which is fine by him. So, he doesn’t understand why Clementine seems so interested in “helping” him. He’s fine, for Merlin’s sake! A little bit lonely, sure, but who cares anyway? Roman's always been alone, he's used to it.

“Nah, thank ya,” is his answer, accompanied by a simple shrug. For the first time, he doesn't sound rude or frustrated, just tired. Roman's fine on his own, and he won't tell Clementine that, feeling she'd still press him about it, so the boy gets up slowly, patting his robes, grabbing his belongings. To the cold common room, he thinks, unhappily. “Friends aren't fo' me, personal annoyance.”
