Searching Pt.2 Completed PV Virgil Lee

Suddenly interested, Virgil listens to the variety of names Adlai manages to say, appalled that he did not know what that muggle sport was. Of course, he doesn't recognize any of those people, nor the other muggle sports she begins to name afterward. The only muggle sport he knew about was football because Trent always forced him to play as a child.

Virgil doesn't like sports.

Well, ok, he doesn't have anything against sports — he likes watching them, for sure! Especially if it's Quidditch, but, practicing... Now that's a completely different story. So he can't help but wince when Adlai suggests she brings rackets for them to play whatever tennis is after winter break.

"Oh, I-I don't know about that..." He says, trying his best not to sound rude, but at the same time, show he isn't that interested in failing in another sport. If tennis is anything like football, then he already knows he's terrible at it. "Y-You see, I'm not a sportsperson. I only play Quidditch with my family and, even that is when I'm forced to."

All of the memories of him playing as seeker during summer appear in his head and he ignores them. He hopes Adlai doesn't mind it, so he focuses on her other question, the one about wizarding sports. Virgil thinks hard, because, again, he's not interested in any sports other than Quidditch. Only some options come to his mind.

"Oh, well, we have duels, of course, and owl racing... Broom racing, too." He knows all of them don't sound as exciting as rugby or boxing, but it's what they have. "Oh! And beast climbing, as well, but I think it's illegal in some countries because it can be dangerous..."

"It's a competition where you, well, you climb different beasts and see who can climb the fastest. Sort of," Virgil explains lamely, with a simple shrug, trying to purposefully make it sound stupid and bad — because it is! He's never seen a beast climbing competition, but he's read about many accidents — some that even lead to some wizards being eaten.

Most of what he knows was because of his father's job. As a Dragonologist working to protect those magical creatures, Mihyung has had his share of encounters with illegal beast climbing organizations, using mainly stolen dragons as their attractions. Virgil's lost count about how many times his father's written letters talking about the horrendous things those wizards do to 'educate' their creatures.

Dragons are misunderstood. They're mistreated and tortured for most of their lives, and, more often than not, died in the hands of terrible wizards. If they weren't so dangerous, Virgil would love to be a Dragonologist, just like his father, as he deeply cared for dragons and loved them like they were a part of him.

"Many wizards and witches have died in the hands of various beasts," Virgil goes back to explain, this time sounding a bit sour remembering how the news turned the tables to make sure the creatures looked like the bad guys in the situation when in actuality, they were the ones suffering. His face closes, as he adds, "Mainly dragons... It shouldn't be considered a sport, but it still is, unfortunately."

"Yeah..." He says, sounding more annoyed and a tad bit sarcastic, but manages to force a weak smile to his face, meeting Adlai's eyes. Just like many other things, optimism isn't one of the strongest points of his personality but Virgil doesn't want to be seen as a grumpy gray cloud and ruin the mood of their previously light-hearted encounter. "Hopefully soon!"

Father says he looks scary when he gets in such a sour mood because he frowns a lot and his voice drops to a darker tone — Mihyung's used the following sentence, every single time: You look like an angry baby dragon, Virgil. That can simply blow your entire face off if you're not careful. Not wanting Adlai to see him like that, he walks around, trying to think of a distinct subject matter.

Looking down, arms crossed, his brain begins to work on different conversation topics, not wanting their meeting to end in such an uncomfortable note. Virgil doesn't know a lot about muggle culture and isn't sure how much Adlai knows about the wizarding world. He wouldn't want to make her listen to him ramble about wizard celebrities he liked or anything like that.

Something Trent would say, hm, what would he say? His cousin is the master when it comes to continuing conversations, as he's the personification of the word confidence, unlike Virgil. Knowing Trent, if he said something in such a grumpy tone like him, he'd start talking about his favorite band, changing the mood completely.

The boy coughs and runs his fingers through his hair. Acting like he's feeling confident, puffing out his chest, Virgil asks, scratching the back of his ear like a dog, "Do you like Cake? A-As in, the band...!"

"My cousin likes Ghost — it's like, in his top ten," Virgil says, nodding excitedly to the familiar name, thankful that he knows at least a bit more about muggle music than sports. I gotta thank Trent for forcing me to listen to him rambling about his bands later! "Never got the chance to listen to their music, though. Trent can get jealous of his favorite songs."

He lets out a weak chuckle, and his excitement turns into confusion once Adlai starts mentioning cartoons — he's heard that word before! And is quite sure it's related to those moving drawings! Wizards don't have those, and, even though he's had a few half-blood acquaintances, he never once sat down and watched one.

Virgil frowns, brain trying to digest all the names and information being dumped at him. So... Muggles have a series of cartoons about a talking dog solving mysteries with a bunch of teenagers. Wow. And here I thought their creativity was restricted to their literature. Muggles really are something, aren't they?

Once again, Virge doesn't recognize any of the names Adlai lists, which makes an apologetic smile appear on his face, as he shakes his head and says, softly, "I'm sorry, I haven't seen or heard of any of those... Cartoons? Are they all cartoons?" He chuckles again, "We had really different childhoods."
