Improvised Friendship?
Saskia would be correct in her judgment of the Slytherin girl in front of her. She would answer just about any question asked her so long as she felt it deserved an answer and was asked in a respectful manner. Santario thought about the girl’s last question gently tapping her index finger against her lips as she though. The answer would not be impressive unfortunately as helping with her father’s more often than not broken noses there wasn’t much to tell for a sheltered child. Not anything too serious on a personal level. My father is really clumsy, so he breaks his nose a lot. I’ve helped staunch the bleeding and learned how to put it back in place and brace it. Then of course after that my mother would just use episkey. I guess the only other thing was when I splinted Gris’s ankle.” She shrugged a little it was a double edged blade.
Not having to use it meant that she had not had to deal with any real emergencies herself. Yet, that also meant that she didn’t fully have the experience that she wanted to either. “In a way though I am a bit happy that I don’t have the experience just yet. I would hate to have been around a family member who needed such things. I have been at St. Mungos during a couple of emergencies though. I remember one time this poor person went through what my mother explained to me was a PTSD episode. Watching her keep them calm while they could get a potion was interesting. The second time was actually when I first showed magic and she needed a bottle of dittany but before the junior healer could get it, it actually flew into my hands first. I didn’t know what had happened to that guy at first until I researched why my mother mixed the dittany with silver powder.”
Santario had known about the existence of werewolves for quite a while because of that event and it had made her interested in beings that weren’t human. She was different than most people because she wouldn’t look down on non-humans like other people tended to do. Following the status quo was just not something she seemed to do. "What about you? Have you experienced anything like that? She meant anything at all where she might have done any kind of healing or experiences as she had.

Improvised Friendship?
That was perfectly understandable. Saskia didn't expect Santario to have done anything extremely drastic. They were still children. They didn't have the capability or expertise to deal with things that adults mostly had to deal with. Looking at the things her father had to do in his job, Saskia was aware of how complicated medicine could have been. Using a potion or a spell on a patient might have seemed simple at a first glance, but there were procedures behind it. Things that might have taken a lot of practice and care beforehand. So, of course, it wasn't a surprise to hear that the other girl might not have done something extraordinary. And that wasn't a bad thing at all.
Saskia listened on with Santario's explanation. Well, that was something, wasn't it? It might not have seemed impressive at a casual glance, but it was practical. Stopping the bleeding of something was a useful skill, even if it was just with a nose, in Santario's case. And taking care of an injured ankle was also useful. Splinting, was it? She mentioned it before numerous times earlier in their conversation. If Saskia could remember properly, it was something useful for keeping a broken limb from moving, so it couldn't get injured further when the limb would accidentally move.
Santario said she was happy she didn't have that experience yet. That was fair. There were many things about medical care that was scary. Seeing people in pain, or them being heavily injured or ill. That was something that made Saskia uneasy when she visited at the hospital. And not a lot of things made her uneasy to begin with. The second year continued to listen to the girl, her gaze fixed on her as she talked.
"I've heard that PTSD can be really terrible. It's sad that a lot of people have to go through that, but it's good that they can get somewhat better with help, she commented solemnly. She did once briefly talk to a patient who had a case of PTSD, although according to them, it had been a while since they first had it. They only came back to the hospital when the symptoms started flaring up again for whatever reason. She hadn't seen them since, but she hoped they were okay.
"Dittany with silver powder? I only faintly remember what that did. Wasn't it to cure bites of some sort? Werewolf ones, judging by the silver component?" It made sense, didn't it? Dittany was used to heal wounds, and silver was commonly believed to have killed werewolves. Not that it was true, but if the Muggles believed it, there must have been some connection to it.
And now came the question. Has she went through those serious cases? "Well, not really. I haven't dealt with something that was life-threatening or anything. The most I've done was when I took care of my leg after I accidentally broke it. I was near enough my home to drag my leg back, but I couldn't walk properly without it hurting a lot, so I had to find a stick that was big enough so I could support my leg. There wasn't much else I could use, so that was the best thing I could do at the time. I just had to make sure not to move my leg so I don't hurt it more." She gave a small shrug before continuing, as if to somehow downplay the severity of the situation, "By the time I got home, I got to put some ice on my leg and wait until my dad came back home to check up on the injury. It wasn't something he couldn't fix in no time, and eventually, my leg got better. One good thing about magic is that it makes the healing process a lot faster." She concluded, a smile playing on her lips once again.
"Honestas ante honores."
