"I did but only because the object was not as light as the feather I lifted momentarily ago. Every object has different exertion levels thus the book's was greater than the feathers'." Eri clamped her mouth shut. She was doing it again. Whenever Eri got comfortable and talked she would go into a long detailed explanation.
"You don't need to explain very much to me." She said not wanting to talk very much. She looked over at the girl and waited for the other girl to saying something else. Staring at the floor embarrassed for the explanation she gave.
"Sorry." She picks up the book and puts it back in her bag and continues to avert her gaze from the Slytherrin's gaze. Looking down she stares at the floor and goes off into space.
She continued to think about her technique and what she needs to change to improve. She wanted continue to improve all of her magic. She would do anything to improve her magic. If that meant to get over her social awkwardness then she would do it. "What do we need to next?" She says and continues to look down at the ground still embarrassed.

The other echoed her thoughts, and Hydra blinked. So the other knew theory, then, but had a difficult time putting it into practice. When Eri went on to say Hydra did not need to explain very much to her, she withheld a laugh; she did not want to be rude, after all, but to help if she could. Were it not for the phrasing, Hydra might have had difficulty biting her tongue... but she believed, very much so, the awkward and shy Eri had a difficult time in saying what it was, exactly, she meant in an articulate fashion.
"So you recognize that, then. What's holding you back in keeping it afloat?" She asked. If she did not need to explain much, then maybe it was Eri who had explaining to do. That had been the point in what she was about to explain, after all, but Eri seemed to know the answer. At least enough to think that she did not want Hydra's help here.
Hydra saw at least one reason, here and now, why she was not within Ravenclaw. To read and to know the words was not enough for Hydra. She knew, after all, the basis of what Eri spoke of. She differed because she wanted to know more than that. Because somewhere in there, magic came into play. And magic, Hydra knew through lessons and experience, was not a simple one-two step thing. It was more than words and wands, goblins and ghouls. It was something to be experienced not solely through her nose within her books. Interpretation of a foreign language did not mean one could speak it, after all. And even with their exposure, they, herself included, had much to learn.
Eri seemed ready to move on to the next topic, but Hydra waited, patiently, for the other to respond first. It would not make sense to leave a thing unfinished and without resolution.

She wanted to move on and come back later to this topic. "Well I haven't exactly gotten that far into learning the topic. If I had to guess I'd say the exertion from the object needs more magic than it's exertion." She smiled looking at the other in a confused manner. She wanted to know the correct answer.
Eri was different then most Ravenclaws. True she loved knowledge and already knew so much, but she never wanted to stop learning about one thing. She look down to the ground and looked at the ground with an intense stare. She was still very interested in learning more of what this girl had to offer.
Eri looked back up and was still pondering what the girl had asked her cause she still had no idea. She looked up at Hydra and gave her a questioned look.
She continued to ponder the question that took up everything in her mind. She decided to ask a question. "So what holds you back?" She asked very curiously. She yearned for knowledge and she smiled. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity. She smiled again feeling more confident around this girl. Eri was no longer scared to talk in front of this girl.

Hydra listened to the others response, thinking on the words herself. Hydra, once, had thought the same way. It had to be the fault of magic. But it was not so. Or, at least not so direct as that. Because, even with her prior train of thought, magic was still magic, wasn't it? What did magic depend on, then? The wand? The wizard?
A healthy mix, to be sure.
But it was the wizard who controlled the wand. Controlled the magic.
All of this was based on theory, theories read and theories spoken, so who could be really certain? The others confused smile was not missed, but Hydra hardly wanted to speak on her thoughts here and now. After all, it was not something she knew for a fact. It was a hunch, and one she sought to uncover. The others verbal question caught Hydra off-guard, though, and Hydra tilted her head.
"Nothing," she retorted, believing the lie she spoke. The truth was not something even Hydra was cognizant of, though she had been told. Not knowing would certainly hold her back, for example. But maybe it wouldn't; Hydra could be rash, and often times her reactions came regardless of knowing the facts or not. But when it came to learning, in the classroom? She wanted to be right. She wanted to know. It was not something Hydra was conscious of, though. She continued, confident in herself here and now, "I've learned this, and practiced it on more than just books and feathers," she boasted, which was true. "Some people struggle with the switch, even when it can be explained. Words are words. Just reading and repeating isn't enough," she explained. Well, that was not true. For some it was. But it did not produce the best results. It took more than the wind from your lungs and your voice putting word to command to make a spell truly be.
In her opinion, anyway.
Hydra sought to inspire, here. She was seeking a competent subordinate in her game of life, and she wondered if Eri might be one of those girls.
A healthy mix, to be sure.

Eri stared at the young girl and let her believe her lie. Eri never gave up on anything she would learn everything she could learn in the world. She smiled at Hydra. Eri's green eyes lit with curiosity stared vaguely at the ground. She was thinking about lots of things. She wondered what life would be like if she was not in ravenclaw or if her parents took her with them.
She looked very distracted as she absent mindedly clutched her locket. Staring at the gold locket and tracing her finger over the engraved tree. She was deep in thought then she remembered that Hydra was still there. She shook her head and smiled at her. "Sorry I got lost in thought." She said embarrassed hoping the girl wouldn't think anything less of her. Getting lost in thought could be dangerous when trying to do magic.
She sighed and looked down as her cheeks turned pink from embarrassment. Eri looked at hydra and smiled. She was already beginning to like the girl and become comfortable about speaking to the girl. Maybe they would even become friends. No no that was to hopeful. For now she just had to wait and see where things went.

It wasn't hard to tell that the words she had just spoken went in one ear and out the other. It was a belated realization, but she did realize. The other clung to their locket and seemed to zone out entirely before coming back to reality, but by that point Hydra had lost her interest in the other. At least as far as her plans went. It was truly a shame, but what could the other girl honestly provide her? Not even manners, it seemed. The others apology fell on deaf ears as Hydra gave the girl a final once-over.
No, sad-eyed, distant Eri just would not do.
Not for her, anyway.
"On second thought, maybe you ought to find a separate place to practice," Hydra determined, her tone several degrees colder than it had been but moments ago. Hydra was not the most empathetic of people, and so could not understand how Eri could just zone out as she had while she spoke with her. What Eri went through Hydra had no idea, and having not an inkling that any could go through such a difficult experience Hydra could not even begin to imagine that this was even an issue any had ever in their lifetime endured. She was born into privilege, and had a family (a cold one, but a family nonetheless); her experiences did not align with Eri's own, and it was not something Hydra understood to exist. So she continued, irate: "Practicing magic while lost in thought is dangerous. Clearly, you're distracted," Hydra pointed out with an accusatory lift of her brow and the crossing of her arms.
How can you not take this seriously? Her scathing gaze openly read.

"Alright I wiil. Also I was thinking on your question."
Eri nodded and picked up her bag and went towards the door. Of course she didn't mind the remark. Not all people didn't understand. Eri knew practicing magic was dangerous deep in thought. She was onlythinking on the question the other had asked. She slowly walked away to practice somewhere else than in the room with Hydra. She didn't particularu mind Hydra but still she didn't have to be so cold. Eri walks out of the room and heads to another room to practice her spells alone. Quicken her pace she heads away. She walks through the corridor hoping she wouldn't get lost. Maybe she would head to the library to get some more learning done? She had to return a few books anyways before she got a few more. She loved the library and all of its books. It was amazing to see all that knowledge in just one place. She really wanted to read all of the books but there were to many of them for her to even attempt that in just one year. She would try. She kept walking away from hydra so she could think.

Fin! Last post from me, so I suppose the thread now is now closed. I so enjoyed threading with you, looking forward to our characters next interaction!
Fortunately, the girl did not put up much of a fuss. Hydra watched her collect her belongings and did not once even think of stopping her, even when Eri attempted to correct her. Even if Hydra had believed her, she was much too proud to ask the girl to stay... and, actually, Hydra did believe her. She hadn't even asked a question, but the girl was convincingly sweet enough to cause Hydra to think to herself that what she had said had such an effect on her that it had caused her to lapse deep into thought.
I mean, it did make sense, she thought to herself. What Hydra had said was pretty thought-provoking, she (personally) felt. So why not give her the benefit of the doubt? Either way, though, it did not change anything. Eri was too slow on the pickup for Hydra to consider her in the running for her own personal designs (of which Hydra had not even created), and also a bit too self-absorbed.
Talk about pot calling the kettle black.
Once Eri was out of sight, Hydra looked to the feather the other had left behind. Withdrawing her own wand again, Hydra combined the necessary elements and said: "Wingardium Leviosa," again taking great care with the words and speaking them with inflection. This spell was relatively effortless for her to preform... at least when it came to feathers. Satisfied with the events of the day, and deducing the professor would not be returning any time soon, she turned on her heel and headed back to the dormitories.

Eri didn't like showing her true colors to people except her aunt. Doing a spell once correctly was all it took to get Eri to master a spell. She was one of the quickest learners in her house and since she spent all of her time improving her knowledge on every subject she knew she was among one of the smartest in her year.
She knew transfiguration in and out but out of shyness she always acted as if she was dumb. Of course she knew levitating spell she just didn't like being smarter than those of another house. Although that girl had helped improver levitation since she was struggling a bit.
She walked along the corridors and headed back to her dorm to retire for the night so she could learn more.
Walking down the long corridor towards the west tower where the ravenclaws called home she became lost in thought.
Her mind raced through spells and her peculiar habbit to clutch her locket when she became lost in thought.
She walked up the stairs and listened to the echo of her feootsteps on the stone stairs. These moments when she wad alone were her favorite to ponder through all the thoughts swirling through her head.
