It had occurred to Dale that he had not really seen Santario smile, so he was quite surprised when she smiled when Dale told her that he loved dragons. She also agreed to what Dale said about dragons, maybe one day they could talk about magical creatures.
Dale was surprised to learn that Santario loved to cook and bake, Dale was learning alot about one of his closest friend. Dale listened to Santario explain what career options she had in mind. Dale could definitely see her in a hospital, but he had never heard of st. Mungos, maybe it was a hospital for wizard folks. ”I think in the future I'll go to a muggle college and follow my father, and become an engineer. But I'm not if I'll even be able to go back to the muggle world after college, so maybe ill work with magical creatures.”
Santario had suggested playing a game, the question game, Dale had never really heard of that game before, but Santario explained what it was about and asked him what his favorite color was and answered her own question with Dark-Hunter Green. ”Hmm, I think it would be purple, but like a dark purple.” ”Alright so, whats your favorite food? Mine’s probably smoked ribs.”

A muggle college, that was an interesting choice, following in his father’s footsteps she could relate to that in the essence that she might follow in her mother’s footsteps. “I don’t see why you couldn’t go back to the muggle world as long as you had perfect control over your magic and were careful. My father does work with muggles.” He still went to book signings in the muggle world after all he did write more for them than he did for the wizarding world which is why most witches and wizards didn’t really know of him all that much.
Dale said his favorite color was purple and as she looked at him she decided that she could see that. “Purple is a good color too. As far as food I like Tartine it’s lightly toasted bread with butter and jam eaten while still warm.” It was her favorite thing to eat and could eat it for every meal if she also didn’t like other foods so much too. “It’s my go-to snack especially if I just want something but I don’t know what I want or if I wake up in the middle of the night hungry.” The ultimate comfort food for her too not that she would admit that she was lonely a lot of the time.
“What is your favorite season and why? Mine is winter. I love the rumple sound that fresh snow makes under my boots, the crisp smell in the air, and there is nothing more peaceful than being outside at night with no one else around just watching the snowfall.” It was the only time she had ever really enjoyed being alone and she had fallen asleep outside a few times on the roof doing it and gotten sick. The silence when the snow fell especially the first snowfall was something that she considered magical.

Dale listened to Santario as she explained how he could most likely still attend a muggle college so long as he had prefect control over his magic, Dale felt like even if he wasn’t the best at casting magic, he could keep it in control. But to be honest he didn’t even know if he would get into college, after all does
Hogwarts even offer a diploma once you graduate, he knew they didn’t offer certain classes he needed be enter an engineering college, classes like chemistry and algebra. But Santario had also stated that her father worked with muggles, that made Dale a little curious to what Santarios father did. “I’m more worried about if they give me a highschool diploma when I graduate from here.” Dale said to Santario.
Santario has answered his question about food with a thing he had never heard about, Tartine, she explained it as a lightly toasted bread with butter and jam, just the thought of it made his mouth water. ”that sounds delicious, I might have to try that one day.” Dale said, but to be honest, he had no idea where to find it, he doubted he could get it at Hogwarts, and he had only one bakery in his town.
It was Santario’s turn to ask him a question. She asked him what his favorite season is and why, she had also stated that her favorite was the winter because of snow and crispness if the the air, “I have to agree with you, I also love winter. I love to watch the snow fall, I love the way the snow kind of glistened in the sun, and I loved sitting by the fireplace and a warm drink to stay warm. Dale agreed with Santario. Dale thought of a question to ask, “What’s your favorite past time? Mine is reading a book or studying out of a texybook.

He said he wanted to try it sometime and San just smiled. “It is really easy to make at home honestly and the best fresh and warm in my opinion. My father used to make it for me when I couldn’t sleep.” It didn’t help her too fall asleep but it was still comforting none the less. “I like it with a nice soft bread with a harder crust, a salty butter, and peach or strawberry jam any flavor would be good though.” He talked about how he also loved winter it would seem that they had a lot in common. She preferred the snow at night but she was more of a night person than she was a day person. Her skin had a tendency to burn fast if she wasn’t careful. This actually reminded her that she might want to think about owling her mother for a sun parasol.
His favorite pastime was reading and studying they had one of those in common. “I love to read as well but I would say cooking/baking and photography are my favorite things to do. Photography especially in a place like this with such beautiful architecture.” It almost made it difficult to choose the next place to take photos of because everything here was so beautiful. “Though I do love to take candid photos of people.” Posed photos were okay but candid shots were so much better. “What is your biggest fear?” It was a bit more of a serious question than they were asking but it was a good question to ask. “Mine is a dream I have sometimes when I am really stressed out. It’s the people I care about lying around me… Not alive anymore. My hands are covered in their blood because I tried to save them but couldn’t. So I think it represents failing those who I care about and losing them as a consequence.”

Dale listened to Santario explain how tartine is best when eaten fresh and warm, and how her father would make it for her when she had difficulty sleeping. She also listed of many flavors like slaty butter, and several types of jams, all of them making Dale’s mouth water. ”That sounds amazing, you’ll have to give me a recipe, or, perhaps you can make someone day.” Dale said with a small smile, Santario had said she enjoyed cooking, but Dale doubted the school had a kitchen for student use for some reason.
Santario had answered his question by saying she also loved to read, and she also liked to bake and cook, she also said she was into photography, Dale remembered this from when they first met, she had said something about liking photography and moving pictures, hmm, maybe that's where Dale had gotten the misconception that she was good at transfiguration. She said she liked to take pictures of beautiful architecture and candid shots of people, Dale had once tried to take good photos, but they always came out blurry, but he did enjoy cooking quite a bit. ”I also like to cook, but any photos I try to take just come out too blurry or bright.” Dale said to his friend
Santario asked him what his biggest fear was, Dale was a little off-put by the question at first, but then Santario had explained she had dreams when she was stressed and how in those dreams everyone she loved died because she couldn't help them. Dale listened to her closely, his initially off-put state was gone after Santario had opened up to him, telling someone your greatest fear was not someone would do without trusting someone, thats what Dale thought. ”I-I think my greatest fear is being a failure, my parents have given a lot for me, and the last thing I want is to fail them, or not live up to there expectations.” Dale said, ”I'm glad you trust me enough to s-share your biggest fear with me.” Dale said with a warm smile.
”For my question… umm, would you prefer going to a muggle school? I think I would fare better at a muggle school.

San would grin and nod. “I could probably sneak into the kitchens and make some or maybe ask a professor. It’s heaven!” This is probably one of the first times she had actually seen like she was her age a bit carefree even though she had asked such dark question before. So even though she was 11 going on 20 there were still moments where she could relax and not have that colder exterior. She didn’t even realize it was happening, but that is just what friends did. “When it comes to your photos the blurry effect is from movement and the brightness can be solved by trying to keep the sun to your back.” It was a little bit of advice if he had ever decided to try again.
“I can also relate to those fears a bit.” She noted his stutter again and was almost curious this time as to what started it. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.” She had noticed a lot of the time he did it when he was uncomfortable and now that she thought she had she look down at the table. He still asked his next question and it was one she didn’t even have to think about. “Honestly, I’ve never even been to a muggle school, but I think because magic just seems to be a big part of me that I would always feel like something was missing if I was only in a muggle school. It also just doesn’t fall in line with what I want to do when I get older. Although I would love to put my skills to use in a muggle hospital it’s not like I could actually heal them to the best of my abilities and that would upset me. I’d probably get arrested by the ministry for doing it anyway because not helping them when I can, would hurt.”
It would too what is the point of being a healer in a place where you could not exercise the full extent of your ability. There could be people who would die even though she could have helped them with magic. It would just weigh too much on her soul. “Hmm, another question to ask… Sorry, I am not the best at this game after a while even though I suggested it. What is your favorite animal not magical?” She had to think for a moment. “I think mine is a Raccoon because they can be fat and roly-polies. The fact that they wash their food is adorable. I like that they are little scavengers.” She giggled a little remembering a video her mom showed her of a raccoon trying to wash cotton candy.

Dale was impressed at what lengths Santario would go to bake him these goods, sneaking into anywhere would get her into a lot of trouble, "Im sure if you ask nice enough a professor will let you use the kitchens, no need to go sneaking around." Dale said light-heartedly. Dale tried to remember the last time he felt so relaxed when talking to someone, most of the time he was a nervous studdering mess when trying to talk to anybody, but for some reason, he felt like Santario was just an old friend, even though they had just met very recently.
Santario went on to explain what Dale might've been doing wrong when trying to take photos, she told him to stand very still and have the back to the sun, he kept this in mind for next time his family would go on vacation.
Santario must've also noticed his stutter when he answered her last question because she apologized, ”N-No, it didn't make me uncomfortable or anything… it just uhh… caught me off guard is all.” Dale assured his friend. Santario had responded to his question by saying that she's never been to a muggle school and how magic is a big part of her, Dale understood why she felt like that. Santario also said she would love to help people by working in a muggle hospital, Dale could definitely see her working any kind of hospital, she seemed to have an innate urge to help people. ”I would definitely feel safe if you were my doctor” Dale said with a grin.
Santario’s question to him was what is his favorite non-magical animal was, dale responded without even thinking about it ” Parrots, iv always wanted one, but my parents don't want a bird flying around the house, but for some reason, they keep telling me to but an owl… they confuse me sometimes.” Dale thought for a second on what to ask Santario, ”What’s your favorite type of flower, mine are roses. ”

“That is very reassuring that you’d feel safe under my care.” She did very much enjoy helping people and apparently around Hogwarts there were a lot of people to help. It seemed like everywhere she went there was someone else getting hurt. Was she just lucky and in the right place at the right time or was she a curse to those around her? It was an interesting thought regardless. When he said that he liked roses she smiled again. “I like roses too only I don’t like red roses. White roses are my preferred flower.”
Her eyes darted over to a window and she noticed that the sun was started to set they had been talking for a really long time now. “We are going to miss supper if we don’t get down to the dining hall!” She would start to pack up her things and stand up. “I’ll see you around okay Dale? And don’t hesitate if you think you need help again I think I am doing pretty well besides transfigurations. Also, I am going to be trying out for the Quidditch team so maybe you can cheer me on from the stands if I make it?” She would wait for his response and if not stopped thereafter she would head out of the library to the dining hall. Her intent would be to grab a snack to take to her dorm room while she worked on homework.
