As one of her silver hairs stood rebels against the other hairs in Rose's oh so perfect image, the rebellion was quickly swatted as she put it back in line with the others. Whether the stray lock stood out or was perfectly aligned with the others didn't matter to Erik. She looked to him flawless. As perfect in her imperfection as in her perfection. Rose was out of this world that was just simply a fact at this point. Never, ever had he had the pleasure to encounter someone like her. How lucky he was to have stumbled upon her in the library of all likely places.

As he stopped daydreaming and had dared speak out the answer out loud he found out to his pleasure that he had been correct. She offered that he could call her Silver, if he preferred and honestly Erik didn't seem the harm of it. Somehow, someway this just had to mean she at least had to think he was good company right? Otherwise a girl like her would've shown a guy like him the door moments ago. When she leaned forward over the desk towards him Erik got visibly nervous. Goosebumps started to spread over his body and a slight shiver went down his spine. As the Silver haired girl spoke the werewolf hung on to every single word. She spoke about the things Erik already knew. The truth of the Gryffindors. For whatever they preached, they sure as hell were not those who valued valor and honor or at the very least tried to act upon that. Well, well. It seems like you've run into trouble with some of your fellow housemates, huh? I can relate to that. I, as well, don't have that good of bond with those who were sorted into the house of Gryffindork. Euhm, I meant Gryffindor... He had blurted the insult out before he even knew it. It was just something Erik had been so accustomed to use that it kind of happened naturally. However, he had to watch out what he said, and most of all did not tell. He had to be wary.

Silver went on to talk about her kind of people she felt most connected with to Erik, however, it sounded like she had been directly peering into his thoughts. The Slytherin nearly jumped out of his chair from excitement. Really now? What if I told you I might know one or two people just like that? Besides myself, of course. Erik threw a smirk her way as he looked at her. Trying to gouge her excitement and hopefully to roll her into his group of friends.

After the girl had winked at him she seemed to be completely different. She became serious. Like a predator measuring her prey or at the very least studying it before lunging at it and devouring it in the process. Erik swallowed hard before answering, he wanted to give her a cryptic answer, but somehow, someway his eyes seemed to be locked in hers. He could not force himself to look away from her or to dissuade from the truth. If he didn't know any better it seemed like she was compelling him to do all of this. But that couldn't be possible. Right?, he thought to himself before answering. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. One moment I was looking over some dusty, old tomes in search of some books that would be able to help me finish my Herbology and Defence Against the Dark Arts homework and the other I seemed to got sidetracked as I got sick of it and started to look around the place. I accidently stumbled upon this place. That's when I saw you climbing that bookcase.

The boy seemed to daydream even as she addressed him before, stuck in a world so far away. A world where they all could be free of responsibilities, she wondered how that would feel.

After she had offered her nickname to him, he seemed pleased with himself. This made her wonder, did he already appreciate the little thing they had? The growing friendship, the riddles, the teasing? Well, begrudgingly she felt she might like it to. Rose eyes shone with possibilities. Friends and allies to a greater cause. She quite liked that idea. That ideal, that others could appreciate her for more than her beauty, it made her shiver too. But She felt couldn’t ponder it much, it would probably make her upset otherwise.

When she had leaned forward on her desk and changed her demeanour to interrogate him, he had gotten visibly nervous of her. She could even see some goose bumps appearing on his skin. This made her grin a little, her charm was visibly working. They always got dreamy or nervous around her when it did.

She slightly frowned and leaned back again. Creating some distance between them. But maybe she didn’t want that for them. She should try to reign her charm in. She wouldn’t feel right if she manipulated him, even if that contradicted her actions. The part-veela was always in war with herself. Sometimes grateful for her veela ways and other times bothered by them.

After Erik called her housemates Gryffindorks, Rosalind grinned. She quite liked his humour and that he dared to call her house out in front of her. Most Hogwarts student would defend their house to their dead, but Rose wasn’t as most students, and she felt that respect needed to be earnt.

Rose had opened her heart with al the talk about her ‘crew’ and what characteristics she liked in people. But when he assured her that he knew those type of people, she felt relieved. There was hope. Then finally the boy answered her question on how he found her little sanctuary. Rose nodded when she found he accidentally found it and blushed that he had caught her in that position. She smiled at him and thanked him for his honest answer. “Well, thank you for answering my question.” Then she wondered out loud. “And maybe you could…” She took a new breath and hurried on. “Introduce me to some of them?

The veela looked around once more, partly to locate her trinket again and partly to avoid his venomous eyes. Could her trinket have rolled under the desk? Or something else entirely?

When Erik started using her nickname, something in her seemed to change. She came across as... How should he put it. Less reserved? Yes, that would be an adequate description for it. Rosalind's eyes seemed to sparkle when he called her Silver. He couldn't help, but smile because of it. Such a simple gesture had made her happy. It couldn't be denied. Erik saw it then and there. You must not be used to kindness, huh?, he silently pondered.

She grinned at his sudden slip up when he had referred to those of her house. Rosalind didn't seem to be bothered or insulted by it in the slightest. No wonder. You probably hate your house as much as I do or even more. We're going to be such great friends. Had Erik found another ally in all of this? It was likely and everything she was saying was what he was feeling as well. Were they some kindred spirits? It was hard to say as he didn't find a lot of people who had this similar thought pattern. It was refreshing to say the least.

Rosalind leaned over to him and again the grin from earlier was visible, however, it didn't last very long. Her facial expression changed rapidly. One moment she was leaning in and grinning and the other she leaned out again and a slight frown was visible. Erik had no idea how he had to interpret this wild display of emotions and body language. The Slytherin looked at her intently. Worry crossed his brow. He was conflicted. Should I ask her what is bothering her? The boy wanted to really know. He couldn't help it. There was some kind of connection between them. He couldn't deny it. How? Erik had no clue, but at the moment he wasn't thinking about that. His feelings were taking over the otherwise so calculated boy. What are you thinking? What could possibly trouble you so much? Did I say or do something to offend you in any way? He bit his tongue. It was impolite to prod, but he just had to know what was on her mind. Normally he would be able to smell it off of her, hear her whisper something faintly or even read it off of her posture, but not at this moment. No, something was off. Something was messing with his head and his senses. For the first since Erik had become a werewolf he felt powerless. He felt weak. The Norwegian had to do something to save his face.

Suddenly she smiled at him and even blushed as she thanked him for answering her earlier question. Oh, don't mention it. You have to know though I don't do this often. I mean I don't do this at all. That would be creepy! Erik chuckled nervously. He had to refrain from blurting everything out at her. It was hard. She did something to him and it made him nervous. Yeah, I would love to introduce you to some of them, if you have the time. Probably not straight away, but maybe later this week?

Rosalind looked away and he followed her gaze around. Are you looking for something? Without waiting for an answer Erik got up and suddenly felt something underneath his foot. What by Merlin's beard is this? Quickly he bent over and snatched the object from underneath the desk. When he let the necklace fall in front of his face whilst holding on to the chain. He studied it and noticed it had a glass pendant, but as fast as he had picked it up it burned his skin and fell to the ground as Erik yelled. What the...?! His heart started racing as his mind thought of a few explanations why the necklace had burned him. When he looked at the necklace on the ground again the reason came apparent. Silver!

Erik hid his hands behind his back as he tried to soothe the pain by rubbing over his burned fingers. When Erik looked up at Rosalind again, he saw her in a new light. He was wary of her. The werewolf didn't trust her any longer. Do you know what I am? Was this some test? No, that can't be. How would you even know I would be here? Was this the reason she wanted to be called Silver? Had it been a hint? Was she playing him all along? The thoughts kept coming and raced through his head. As he narrowed his eyes as he spoke. His voice like ice. Yours, I take it? He stared her down with his venomous green eyes. Searching for a sign of her telling him she was in fact lying.

As Rosalind was still observing her little sanctuary for her new found treasure, she could feel his burning stare. ‘Venomous eyes indeed.’ She thought. After one more sweep of the room, she focused her attention once more on the boy. When her gaze focused on his face, his demeanour had changed ‘Did something happen? Had she acted out of place’ Then she saw his dubious expression.

What are you thinking? What could possibly trouble you so much? Did I say something to offend you in any way?” The boy looked as if he wanted to prance on, but had clearly reigned himself in. ‘Oh, he thought he had done something wrong…’ She felt relieved at this. If he felt he did something wrong, then she probably hadn’t. His question expressed he genuinely cared about her feelings and wondered what was on her mind. That was actually surprising for her. She felt as if this was truly the first time in her Hogwarts career that she connected with someone. This thought made her feel warm inside. An ally, the first in many, maybe.

Rose wondered how to answer his question. If she outrightly told him about her inner veela war, he might think differently about her, but if she adapted her answer with half-truths and distract him from the real problem... Her heart could be as steady as can be.

Well, as you might have noticed my fellow housemates and I aren’t exactly chummy. So that makes me kind of a black sheep in the Lion community.” In a higher mocking tone she added. “Because there all such a good friends with each other.” She brought her hands together next to her face, her palms firmly against each other and dreamily looked up. With a straight face she continued her monologue. “The Lion pride is a tight knit community were most of them seem to value the same norms and standards. And well, lets just conclude that some norms weren’t my cup of tea." Rose felt as if she had put in a lot of truths, more than she had wanted. Trusting was a hard aspect, one that she had not yet mastered.

Rose smirked when she was done. “Lion pride, please” She huffed. “I’m more of a free spirit kind of bird.” She laughed at her little joke and looked him in the eyes again.

When he said he would introduce her later this week to some of his friends, she felt a lighter feeling inside her chest, a feeling of belonging. She wondered if it could last.

As she her mind wandered off again, looking for her necklace, the boy suddenly sprang up. A startled expression seemed to cover his face as he picked something shiny up and let it drop with a hiss. ‘Was that her treasure?’ Rosalind looked at the boy again. Had he hurt himself? She certainly thought he did. As he now carried himself as she had seen many do before him. They all tried to hide their injury and thus making changes of being helped slimmer.

When he held her necklace up again, she could clearly see the shimmering house emblems. ‘He really did find her trinket. I hope he gives it back…’ Rosalind eyes shined, she felt so delighted.

What the-.” His cry was cut of as he seemed to realise something. As he looked at her pendant down below, the atmosphere seemed to change and his attitude with it. When he looked at her it seemed to be with distrust and almost loathing. Rose took a step back, as he dangled her treasure almost aggressively before her.

Yours, I take it?” His eyes stared her down, almost as if all of this was her fault.

Rose felt disbelief at the change. What the bloody hell happened? No one reacted that harshly for a silver necklace. Rose frowned, as she felt her own inner flame flutter awake. Challenging a veela was not a bright idea, especially if the challenge involved something the veela felt connected to. The red specs inside the veela’s eyes glowed brighter, as if her inner fire could burst every moment. Rose’s eyes burned with passion for her trinket. Her mother had always had a devotion to special things and it seemed that Rose had inherited that trait. As her anger rose, her grip on her veela charm loosened. She could almost feel the wave of power the sent forward herself, filling the atmosphere with it. Quickly she reigned herself in, shocked at her loss of control. Her temper was one of the many things her veela inheritance had cursed her with.

No, she would not lose her temper in vain. She could control her instincts. It wouldn’t matter that they wanted to hurt the boy for the disrespect. A brief flicker a fire could be seen again inside her eyes, almost to briefly to be noticed. Her mind quickly wandering back to steps on how she could defend herself if this situation escalated.

This all had happened in the span of milliseconds. To fast to be noticed by a human eye. To any supernatural onlookers however, the demeanour of a veela ready to defend herself and her prey could be seen. It was hers.

But for now she would be calm, as calm as one could be before a great storm. She relaxed her posture and with a steadying breath she held out her hand, palm open, as if not to pose a threat. Then she looked him in the eye, trying to steady the aggressiveness in the room.

Yes, it’s mine.” Putting extra emphasis on hers. “I found it earlier while climbing the bookcase.” She nodded her head towards the spot. “I noticed something shiny and wanted to know what it was. I quite like shiny things.” Rosalind shrugged a little trying to downplay her feelings. “Can I have it back now? I want to look some things up about it.

Still patiently waiting she held out her hand, underneath his, half expecting the boy to not give it back. Then she waited.

Rosalind went on to explain why she had been feeling so saddened. She had told him before that she was the outcast with the Gryffindorks, but it seems that this bothered her more than anything. Erik couldn't say he understood, because he didn't. Even though he wasn't the best at socialising with his own house, the brief interactions with them showed him that he fit in, in his own peculiar way. The Slytherin felt bad and took pity on her. You could see it in his eyes. That can't be easy. At all. Feeling so alone all the time. How do you manage to keep your marbles? No one to confide in or talk to someone about how you feel? Erik shook his head in wonder as he looked back at her. That's it. I'm going to introduce you to my friends as soon as possible. Just forget about those pesky little kittens that you got sorted into. No, I'll show you what real friendship and camaraderie is like. I'm sure you'll fit right in. He gave her a gentle smile. Hoping she would brighten up. He even went as far as gently putting his hand on her hers as he gave it a light squeeze. All of a sudden she smirked at him and told a joke, causing him to chuckle. You're something alright. He was glad to see that she was brighting up again.

At Erik's abrupt change of behaviour after he had discovered a silver necklace there could be seen a flicker of anger in Rose's eyes before she looked at him again, much like a stoic. The werewolf wasn't bothered with this at all, nor did he actually care at this point. He was hurt by her. How could you have possibly known my so well guarded secret? Madness is what it is! There's no way. He couldn't shake the feeling completely that she didn't know anything about his true nature at all. Because if she did not know anything, why the hell was she dropping down so many hints? A silver necklace casually was laying around the desk he had seated himself. She wanted him to call her silver. It can't be that this was all a happy little accident nor coincidence. No, if she didn't knew then she had to be looking for hints. Maybe she just had a suspicion. Erik looked over at the silver-haired girl once more. No, he hadn't met or encountered her on any other occasion.

Erik visibly shivered. She had rattled him to his very core. Where did it all go wrong?, he wondered. One minute they were fine, actually more than fine, and the other they were throwing each other death stares. The Slytherin shook his head. Things were taking a turn for the worst. Rosalind went on to explain where she had found the demonic necklace. Yeah, right., was the first thing he thought as he heard her wild explanation. All of a sudden this mysterious girl finds a mysterious SILVER necklace out of nowhere and drops it at his feet? No way.

The werewolf, his mouth almost fell wide open as she held out her hand as if she was waiting on him to drop it back in her hand. The sheer audacity! Did she really not know or was this just another test? Erik shook his head again. Unbelievable... With that being said, he bent over and picked up the necklace. This time, however, he was prepared for the burning as he picked it up from the ground. He closed his fist on it and a tiny hint of smoke and the faintest sizling could be heard. Erik tried his hardest to keep a neutral facial expression, though his eyes betrayed that he was pissed. He kept his fist in front of her open hand a bit longer than necessary as he kept eye contact. A slight twitch at the edge of his mouth was a clue that he was in pain, but it as quickly as it was there it had disappeared. With that, he opened his fist and the necklace fell in Rosalind's open hand. There you go. Next time you can pick it up yourself... Silver. He spat the name at her like it was venom. He had enough of this charade. If she knew anything about his true nature, she better just came out and said it, because at this moment she was only angering him.
