[quote]Angellica nodded at his response. "It is," she said. It was lame, short, but it was a start as to where she planned to go with the thread of thought she was following. It was true, it was unfair, but so was life. At least, it was something she'd been told again and again. Rather than answer right away she took a moment to contemplate how to respond.
"I mean a lot of people are under the impression that Slytherins are evil, and yet my father is a diplomat of sorts, I would call him many things, but evil probably not one of them," she added with a bit of a chuckle. People could end up being whatever they wanted to be in the end, but every achievement came with its share of obstacles. Although she looked up to her father, she also had her share of strife with the man.
"A lot of people will claim hufflepuff are the paste eaters, surely that isn't fair to them either, they probably get the shortest stick in being overlooked and considered left overs through the ages," she said with a shrug. Binaries were just the easy way to cope for the masses. There were shades of grey in the world, some she would discover in time, others she clung to despite the black and white some presented.
She listened as he spoke of his favored classes. "Charms is pretty neat isn't it," she agreed with a smile. "Though I have a penchant for Potions and Transfiguration myself. History is interesting," she added. "I mean it's important to understand the past, but yeah dates and names are a bit...annoying," she found herself saying. "I actually discovered I'm a decent flyer last year, never would have thought so," she added. "Made it on the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team," she said proudly.

Noah was a bit surprised that she didn't argue the point at all, it was rare to see someone agreeing with his statements, it was mostly people arguing against him, having someone agreeing with him for once actually felt nice.
He did kind of think she was right about that too, he couldn't say he had felt a lot of the Slytherin hate yet but he could sometimes almost sense the way people who weren't in Slytherin looked at Slytherins as if they were going to do something bad at any second and it did make him wonder why some people still believed in house stereotypes. "People ignore the fact that most of the people who come out from Slytherin aren't even evil, it's just a few people who went evil that makes them believe that Slytherin is an evil house as if other houses never had someone who did anything wrong."
Noah resisted an urge to smirk, he was beyond the whole 'Huffies are innocent little kids ideology, he had met Hufflepuffs who were much different from what people would expect them to be. But she seemed to be talking about how much people underestimated them, which he also felt was rather stupid, being nice didn't mean they'd be weaker in intelligence but apparently, that's the idea people got. "House stereotypes are just plain stupid and all negative traits attached to a house are mostly not there in every student, I can't believe people actually believe in house stereotypes still."
"Well, yeah, if I did not have to remember anything, I'd easily have said History was my favourite. And I'm not that good at Potions, it's just not my thing, I guess, Transfiguration is pretty fun though. Noah hadn't actually considered getting into flying much, he simply did enough to pass with good enough grades but didn't find flying that much of an interesting subject. "I'm really not that good at Flying, I'm probably average at best, so I haven't really ever thought of getting into Quidditch."

Angellica listened as he spoke, nodding in response. Often times the majority paid the price for the minority, it was just a fact of life. Where people often thought of the Dark Lord or his Death Eaters, the likes of Merlin were often overlooked when it came to the Hogwarts house. "It's how it usually goes doesn't it? It starts with someone using a fanged frisbee in the school, and then no one can use them on school property. Laws are no different than stereotypes." She'd heard her father have the conversation a number of times with his guests. How often the morons dictated the world, and those that would protect them.
"I once read a history book that ended on The more things change, the more they stay the same," she quoted A Short History of the World. A book that had been lying around at her father's work, and it had been interesting to say the least.
As he spoke of school she nodded and listened. "I guess I'm the typical Ravenclaw with classes. I ended last year with an O average. I could always help you if you wanted," she offered. "I've tutored a couple people last year, and had a study group," she continued just in case it was of interest. Honestly, she wasn't trying to brag, she loved the learning, lived for it really. Knowledge was power, and she was power hungry.
The line moved and soon they would both be on pedestals being measured and fitted. "Flying is...freeing," she found herself saying. "When I'm up there, it's like everything else stops to matter, like every problem I have is just a tiny speck on the world below. I'm not sure how to explain it, but I like it." Flying had been one of the few things keeping her sane, that and hitting an angry ball at an opponent.

Noah couldn't help but narrow his eyes a little at her response, wondering if he should just drop the topic, it was getting pointless, but he could give his take on it before stopping the conversation about houses, "Well, yes but Laws are necessary while stereotypes aren't even fixed and exist only in people's heads and it hurts people rather than protect them."
Noah didn't like the quote much, he stayed quiet for a few seconds after hearing it to try and figure out what it meant but it was simply too confusing. How could things change and stay the same? He understood it was supposed to be poetic but it didn't really make any sense to him. "That sounds like something someone said to come off as poetic, but those things don't matter much if their meanings are impossible to grasp unless explained to you by someone else."
Noah had had quite a decent year at school, it wasn't phenomenal but he wasn't doing bad and he had time to improve, he just had to pay more attention in class. "Oh no, I'm good, I don't really need tutoring, I prefer studying by myself rather than studying in groups, it mostly just distracts me."
Noah patiently listened to her talking about Flying, he honestly had no idea what she meant because to him, flying was fun but it wasn't anything special. But he just nodded at her, she seemed to love flying and Noah didn't really understand the appeal but everyone had their own interests so Noah didn't want to ruin her fun. "Well, I don't really feel that but it must be fun for you."

Although she could have argued the likes of laws where a dead horse couldn't be brought through the streets before midnight, she saved her breath. There were a variety of shades of grey, but he was right when it came to stereotypes. Shrugging it off, she focused on the other parts of their conversation.
"Salazar's attemtps to maintain purity, the first wizarding war, the second wizarding war..." she let her words trail with a sigh. "The more things change, the more they stay the same. Same with economies and empires, they all eventually fall," she said gently, a slight frown on her rosy lips. Honestly, no matter how far they seemed to have come, there was still something of the past causing a temporal recursion. Granted she heard a lot of these things at home, and it would take years before she would come to her own conclusions and her own ways to help fix the so called machine that never seemed to stop for anyone or anything
Angellica nodded. She could respect someone that was willing to put in the work and achieve their grades themselves. "A noble endeavour," she nodded. "I'm the same way, though I've found helping others with concepts has helped me. It's like reaffirming what I already know, if that makes sense?" she wasn't sure how to explain it, but there was always a part of learning while teaching. She wondered if the teachers themselves learned anything from dealing with students? She often thought of them as all knowing but even she knew that wasn't quite true.
His last statement had her closing her lips and flushing slightly. She'd said too much, she'd been too open and she nodded. "Ah yeah," she agreed. When the line moved and a seamstress came for them she was somewhat relieved to have a distraction, a chance to move on from some of their conversations. "It's our turn it seems," she spoke, following deeper into the store to stand on a small platform while measuring tapes did their work.

Noah didn't really find himself agreeing much with that, though, yes they were about the same things, they were also so much different to be said in any way similar, there was just so much depth to it all that he couldn't even possible argue about it in just the time they had for their turns so he decided he'd make it short.
"Well, they are not the same really, I think it is more like, everything eventually goes back to one thing but that does not mean change doesn't happen, everything just ends eventually."
He wasn't exactly sure if he understood what she meant on that either, he had barely ever "taught" anyone besides maybe the times he was forced to work with someone, maybe it did help a bit? He couldn't really be sure because of his lack of experience, "I cannot really say, I haven't exactly taught anyone so I can't say whether it would help or not."
Noah nodded as it was finally time for them to get their measurements done, well that was the end of the conversation too then. Weird, how he went from hating it to completely forgetting that he was waiting in line as he was busy thinking and discussing. "Indeed. Well, it was fun talking to you though."
