First year, New friends Closed

Classes... Millie had completely forgotten that attending classes was mandatory in Hogwarts. She had been skipping more and more often as of lately. She didn't really mind, though. Classes were slowly getting more and more boring to her, and she barely felt like doing them anymore.

"I should be at Defense Against the Dark Arts, right now, but it doesn't matter." She shrugged and began fiddling with the wand in her pocket. She pulled out the golden wand and twisted it in her hand. She looked over at Maggie as she announced Jane's first exciting initiation of skipping class.

"I've skived off class to go to Hogsmeade a few times," She said, shrugging. "I found a fake permission slip ages ago, and use it every time."

Jane looked lost most worried as Maggie held her mischievous grin. Curiously, Millie looked over to Koko, who seemed like the person to despise skipping class. Staring offhandedly for a moment, Millie turned away and faced Jane, who voiced her worries. Did people skip class often?

The normal answer would be "Oh, no, kids never skip class," but it just wasn't true. If Millie had a sickle for every time she caught someone skipping, she'd be able to buy Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. Not that she would, that was insane.

"Oh definitely, kids skip all the time."

Ohhhh no. This was terrible. They were having her skip class!? Aaaabsolutely not. Koko's eyes widened as she gazed at the other girls - were they serious?? They couldn't be. And Hogsmeade was also against the rules, right? Right? Not that she hadn't gone off to Hogsmeade before... But still, it was against the rules, and she was not going to skip a class that she only had an E average in.

"I-" the prefect's speech cut off. She didn't know what to say. "I've never skipped a class!" Just the thought of doing so was outrageous. If lunch in the Great Hall had been a class, then she had definitely skipped back in the First Year, but any real class? Absolutely not! "Sure, I've checked out Hogsmeade, but that was just during lunch. It was just a peek, so nobody saw me or anything..." Suddenly, she was filled with the urge to prove herself to be a good student, to be a good person. And in her mind, there was only one way to do that. She would feel terrible about it afterwards. Of course she was. She would have proven herself to be just as terrifying as Fridge. But there was no turning back now. "I... I have to give you detention. I-I will... I will owl you all with more information about it. Next time, please take more pride in your actions." Koko swallowed a lump in her throat as she gazed at the group. "Now I will be going to Transfiguration. I will see you at the detention."

Ack, I'm a little sad to say this. I like y'all a ton OC, but IC you broke the rules right in front of me. (I may not have been a prefect at the time of the thread, but because of the timeline, Koko would have been a prefect the entire time). Anyway, I will be owling the three of you with more information during the next two days. Until your part of the detention is completed, you will be unable to start new threads, but you will be able to post in threads that you are already a part of. Remember, you aren't in trouble OC. This is only IC.

Maggie rolled her eyes as Koko sputtered out her sentence, a huff of air leaving her mouth and blowing her bangs up slightly. Annoyance prickled at her emotions, and her hair was beginning to turn a faint shade of red.

“You’re giving yourself a detention?” Maggie asked the girl incredulously. Why? Skipping class wasn’t a big deal, at all, and even if Maggie cared, it still wasn’t Koko’s business. She felt a seed of dislike for the girl grow in her stomach, and she couldn’t help but glare at her slightly as she stood from her seat on the bench.

“Sorry about that, Jane, not a very nice introduction to Hogwarts, now is it?” Maggie chuckled, “Don’t worry about it, though— detentions aren’t a big deal, just think of them as mandatory, er, hangouts.” she tried her best to comfort the Hufflepuff girl, shooting Millie a look that was half-worried, half-annoyed.

“Well,” Maggie said, sighing exasperatedly afterwards, “I look forward to reviving your owl, and, in turn, spending detention with you.” she turned, strolling down the hallway, away from the scene, and more specifically, the Slytherin girl, who she could confirm that she wasn’t too fond of at the moment. Her hair was probabaly a flaming red at the ends, but she didn’t really care if Koko knew she was angry.

Jane was taken aback as she heard the words coming from the Slytherin girls mouth. 'Detention...Detention?' She heard the word but all she could think was about her studies and her parents possible reaction to her already having detention so soon. She hadn't realized this girl was a prefect and she already wasn't sure about the idea of skipping to begin with. Being a first year after all, Jane still had things to learn about around Hogwarts. She started to remember hearing about howlers and how other peoples parents would send them if they were angry about something. She hoped she wouldn't receive one of them any time soon.

Come to think of it, she still wasn't completely sure about which class she was supposed to be going to right then. The girl looked towards Koko with her eyes wide with panic as she hopped up of the bench and spoke, "Please.. I-I can't be put in detention. Not this early into the year. I'm still not positive which class I'm supposed to be in right now. I thought it was either Potions or Charms but I'm not sure..." Jane hoped that maybe she might know as the slytherin was a prefect. If she did know then all she would need to do is tell Jane and she could find her way there. She knew that potions was in the dungeon and charms was somewhere on the third floor.

Giving a small smile to Millie and Maggie as she knew she was just trying to comfort her and make it not seem as bad, Jane let out a deep breathe to calm herself down a little. She watched as Maggie walked down the hallway and noticed the ends of her hair were a bright red. The girl wondered how she did that but hoped that they would have a chance to talk again. She liked all of the girls even if they had only been talking for a little bit, and one of them was trying to give out detentions. She just wished it hadn't come down to them getting a detention. Jane started chewing on the inside of her lip as she waited for Koko's response and hoped she would be let off easy. She wasn't sure how lenient she was, as they just met, but she seemed nervous to give out the detention anyways.

In all honesty, she was just a first year trying to find her way around the castle. She wasn't trying or expecting to get in trouble until at least a couple years after she worked out a study schedule for her classes. Before this she was going to meet up with another friend she had met in hufflepuff until everything start happening all at once. Jane started wondering if they had made it to class already and if they had showed she would have been able to ask which class they were in.

Whoa, whoa, bitch alert incoming! Poor Jane, a first year, utterly confused, given a detention from a bratty Slytherin prefect? Disgusting. Even Millie, who didn't really care about serving a detention, was completely flabbergasted at Koko.

She balled her hands into tight fists, shaking her head angrily towards Koko. She didn't know how Maggie felt towards serving detention, and she sure as hell knew Jane didn't want to serve it. Such a terrible introduction towards Hogwarts and serving your first year, and poor Jane just wanted friends. Finally, she had found the best way to get out of a stupid detention given by someone she thought was a friend.

"Wow, mate, that's pretty low of you," She said casually, leaning against the wall. "Giving a confused first year a detention? Me and Maggie don't care, we obviously had it coming, but giving poor Jane a detention?"

There was one thing Millie had always been good at: Guilt-tripping. She hated using it, because so many people did it to her, as well, but this seemed to be a good time. She shook her head, annoyed once more.

"I didn't think someone could go so low." She reached over to Jane, and pulled her into a tight hug, muttering an apology to her, but making sure it was just loud enough for Koko to hear. Even if they still had to serve a detention, at least the snake would feel bad about it.

I could maybe pretend I... I'll just pretend this didn't happen. And I'll run off to class. But... Someone else might find you. And they might not be so nice. A-and Jane, I s-suppose I could probably... help... if you wanted me to.?" her eyebrows furrowed as she looked at Jane. "I'm sorry..." Koko was like Fridge now. Like all of the evil prefects who were out to get the kids. Koko was like that now. And she wasn't sure whether she liked that or not.

Tears were welling up in the Second Year's golden eyes now. Ack. She felt divided. She was supposed to feel fine about this, to enjoy it, and instead she felt terrible. Why was that? Was it just Koko? Was she not fit for the job? Or was it her fear acting up, telling her that she couldn't that she shouldn't be terrible like Fridge. She would have to give them a pass. "You're fine. Tell @Maggie Parker that it's called off. N-now I really have to get going. Bye!" Koko's words became rushed as she began sprinting through the halls. She could make it. She had to.
